Ever since I started trying to get better at counter-strike, I’ve been intrigued by the idea of working with a coach. But I always felt like it wouldn’t be worth it for a lower skilled player like myself. Like won’t I just get better if I play more? Isn’t it kind of embarrassing to spend money on something I actively suck at? I’m not sure why exactly I’ve made these judgments. After all, hiring a coach or tutor is an accepted practice for novices in all sorts of hobbies and activities - so why not competitive video games? After waffling for a bit, I decided it would be easier to justify this to myself by making content out of it, so here we are.

Another incredibly helpful video ! Pienix really is a great coach and you're a great student. You're also forbidden to stop this video series now until I learn everything there is to learn through your coaching sessions :D
You should hire a coach then, they too need to eat.
@@Splarkszter Maybe he will, and maybe he was joking.
These are genuinely my favorite videos of all the CS2 content I consume. Thank you both for being cool about posting these!
Great videos! For my level I’m getting a lot of new knowledge!
the demo videos are amazing thanks so much for sharing your experiences man
thank you for uploading these
i got to MG from aim alone but have like no idea what I'm doing and what I should be doing or where to even start if i want to improve
these videos are a blessing, showing similar plays to what i'm doing and what is wrong with them and what different parts i should do differently and which aspects to specifically look for to improve
thank you
Yes same, it also shows and highlights that I need to play more with my team mate, instead of only for myself. Playing off of your team mate is what makes sites holdable.
I notice the thing he’s trying to convey to you is this is like a game of power balance. And when you get into a stronger position via your use of util and positioning and informational advantage, take advantage of that, you have the upper hand, and a strong chance at multiple kills in that moment. As your advantage goes up so too should your confidence. You seem to lack confidence even after taking all the right steps, and are unwilling to capitalize because you can’t look past the persistent state of fear/risk/exposure, and you opt to back away. Stand your ground when the time is right and it will make impact!
Playing release CS2 premiere has got me in the 2k ranges (9k beta), I often die to weird nova plays. Being in the mindset that it is not "high level" play actually helped a lot.
Sometimes enemies just straight up ignore footsteps, and are almost always hiding in weird spots, afraid to die, but also pushing in the most insane ways.
It actually has helped me to stay attentive through out the map more and not just pay attention at the common duel positions.
enjoying this series
Thanks for sharing dude. We make those mistakes too or dont even know they are mistakes so dont be too embarrassed
I am really enjoying this series especially being a relatively new player I am learning a lot from your coach because a lot of the common mistakes he points out are things that I didn't even realize I was doing as well.
He really does send the point home of being mindful of the intent of your actions, and being confident in them. Starting out a lot of the time I’ve been playing reactively instead of proactive 🍳🧩
thank you for putting this on youtube for people to watch
Thanks for watching!
the part about moving while taking fights is it can be incredibly useful if youre able to utilize the strafing mechanics. strafing on contact with an enemy, especially in cs2, is almost necessary to not be insta tapped at higher levels. i'm not a pro or a coach but i would highly recommend practicing short strafes into shots, youll make your enemies miss a lot more which will lead to more kills for you
These vids are amazing so glad i found this channel absolutely a jem keep it up
This helps a lot specially cause most of the mistakes you make will be the same ones I make on my grind. I always new banana was sketch aswell lmao 😂
Man these videos are great, great format also!
These videos have been incredibly helpful to me, and I appreciate you uploading them. I can relate to them often, especially during moments like the one at 17:33 while moving and shooting. Could you possibly ask him about the appropriate times to move or dodge in an open fight, because simply standing still like a pole, I believe he wouldn't recommend that either
shoot, if you miss and its a long distance fight, strafe burst strafe burst, in a fight like this where you are holding an angle and you know they are pushing, you should be winning almost always unless they know you are there and use util on you, simply crouching and commiting to a spray in that fight will be fine then move to a new angle after you kill the first guy as they know youre there now!
@@nova-co3bp i certainly wouldnt recommend crouch spraying in that situation as a more competent team would have picked him off quickly, strafes at all distances are really the key to winning in cs2
love those uploads...learned already a few things from u guys
Last i played cs was 1.6. now trying to get into cs2 this is super helpful. Thank you!
Glad to hear it!
keep that 30min content we really appreciate you buddy
The thing was that I've watched tons of videos about movements and positions, etc.
But my bad habits just overtook the stuff I've seen in the tutorial clips.
Like, instead of A - D, I still go like W - D or the crosshair placement sucks in stressful moments.
And the greediness to get more kills asap.
Who was to blame for?
Of course, the mouse I'm playing with... result: 20 mice
nah, it's 100% the mousepad result: 30 pads dude,
I need a better monitor result: 3 Monitors
nah, I need glass glides... nah, I need a better desk... nah, I need a better chair... nah, the cat is too orange... nah, the neighbors are mad
THAT'S WHY I'M SHIT in CS. YEY
You all know what the main issue was!!!
My Brain - My Ego - My Ignorance to learn from mistakes
I've got to reset all the shit in my mind and started again.
It was a hard journey but it paid out for me.
My absolute main issue was the amount of Energy Drinks I drank every day. The unhealthy lifestyle. Short-unwell-sleep. Dependency on bad habits.
Love yourself , respect yourself and believe in yourself.
cheers
Amazing series keep it rolling !
Thanks! Will do!
this is actually such a sick series tho, im here to stay brudder
Thanks for uploading this stuff. Very helpfull!
that chicken is me on sunday night fr
Holy cow I do the same thing banana. I throw all nades and just run? Sometimes I get info but that's it. I should take more duels
1. When low hp and with nades, use them ASAP to stop rotations
Edit: After hearing Pheinix talk about the general that sends his troops only for them not to fight it completely changed my game. I'm not being reckless but I'm taking fights now for the positions I used my utility to get to and to defend. Getting a TON more frags been going HUGE in my games recently.
I like that he mentioned once you have Banana you can play CT for a quick rotation either way, because that's something I naturally figured out myself over time, it's great to have a B player migrate to CT because he can rotate extra fast if needed and also still hold B even if CT gets smoked, by running into Church or nading them or firing through smoke at B
The magical double molotov! One in hand, one midair :D 3:06
I like the coach a lot. I think your main problem is confidence, and you learn confidence by knowing your utility sets, timings, and a few set strats. It feels like your flow is broken up by moments where you don't know exactly what to do. These will naturally cease as your build confidence. You'll start to recognize the opportunities for your strats and have the confidence to execute them, and you won't have those dead spaces.
gotta remember that cs is a shooting game first and the util is just about improving a 50/50 fight to like 60/40 or better
I really appreciate your videos man
thanks so much
Great series bro
great videos, I find ur gameplay on B to be utterly similar to mine lol.
You need to be careful with that last molotov because it blocks your awper's sightline and exposes you to mid so much. Also you generally want the first player (max 2nd) to throw the car molly and you don't want them moving erratically in this tight space, blocking the team from taking banana and mid space.
On top of that, you want an early mid flash for anyone peeking t ramp, and I can tell you from experience that even higher ranked Randoms rarely have good understanding of utility routines. So you might have to take on the role of throwing _both_ the molly and flash, and that means you need to be pretty fast in order for the molly to land before cts take car.
So you want to practice that molly throw while hugging the left as much as possible, probably even without stopping. Just make sure to not bump into the left corner, to aim high and to the right over car. Best car spawn for CTs can beat the molly timing just enough to get an Awp shot in if you're even slightly late. Practice makes perfect 👌
P.S: Made a short video showcase for you to check out on my channel :)
i think what you arent doing when gettin entries is "Taking more space" before the Cts rotate , if you do that you will always have so much advantage
xboxlasagne keep it up man youre not alone thank you for these videos cs i can relate to the struggle LOL
thank you brother
what program are you using to watch the matches back?
thanks for the videos
Awesome coach, awesome student!
Great video again! Round 5 at 6:10 you check arch when you're teammate is there. Do you have a weird mini-map config or anything - or are you just not checking mini-map? Mini-map is like your rear view mirror, you should be checking it every 5-8 seconds.
definitely not that often, shit gets you killed
not strictly 5-8s. It should be at most times a reactive quick glance whenever you hear or see that something happened so you can react to it. Knowing when to check radar and when not to is very important. Don't check when in a critical position expecting a fight, and eyes fully on the radar when rotating or in safe positions so you can decide what to do next
This is soooo helpful. Thank you very much for sharing!❤ please go on with this stuff. I didn’t play cs since 1.6. could you please give me your keybind cfg!?
great series
This coach should just review people’s life decisions.
Great idea
"You guys should be coordinating something and like fighting for it, right? Instead of chilling?"
Damn dude, straight to the heart xD
How do you watch demos all of mine say its outdated... ;(
Bro great content , tryna run some games?
how you watch demo
Great coaching. I wish I could afford him to review my games
I really hope this video teaches more people how to play inferno aka banana :)....
21:40 just casually drifting through Banana LOL
21:54 Now I float LOL
23:02 the smoke went spiral
make sure to do nameplating, at the start of every game, mentally note who kills you, who plays good (both teams) who plays where etc.
if you notice 1 guy is dropping 35 kills running banana and you're bottom fragging, you need to avoid fighting that player, maybe ask your top fragger to switch, or try to play for info instead, and likewise on t side, hunt the weak link. And if you have a great game you want to take out the stronger enemies.
if you master this you will fear x player instead, and it wont haunt you other games.
What kind of mindset is this? Assuming this isn't your first time on the map, you can just hold areas differently, or more effectively, Cs2 has novas messing up high ranked people on the regular, and these people who are steamrolling your team tend to do the same thing over and over again. If you constantly try to get into open duels with them, that's on you.
I disagree. This philosophy does not scale well as you move up the ranks where everyone will be of similar skill level. Best to get rid of these habits early.
if someone is having a great game and you're having a shit game it wont matter what you think you're gonna do, if he gets to fight you, he might kill you even on your terms, have some self awareness guys
@@kshimi You are already losing games and confidence going into matches thinking like this, what if 4 of them or all of them are having a better game than you? stay in base? Unless they have hacks on, there is always something you could do to increase your odds, be it where and when you peek, or making use of utility efficiently. You may lose the game, but at least you can get some evaluation out of it, running to the other side of the map looking for a weak link that may not even be there is a great way to waste time, and get nothing out of your games. People who want to learn have a way of improving drastically after spending some time with straight up better players (let's be real even just getting a rank is a nightmare right now for some people). This goes for a lot of things in life too.
@@kevinkchao8 your understanding of what i wrote is completely wrong and i cant be bothered trying to find a way to explain it to you, have a nice day
29:23 he was so focused on the molly he didn't even honor your clean strafe and 2 entry frags q.q
19:57 Im not surprised he was scared... look at these ghosts rushing B
I’m saying…
27:30 haha happens man
Wish i could pay for my friends to get coached and then they could finally let go of w

@@xboxlasagne thx! Keep go on with this content. One of the best CS channels.

i'm not very good at cs to the point where I'd pay for coaching, but I kinda wish I could listen to this guy criticise me not to know everything I do bad but to know what he thinks is good lmao
I'm having fun playing cs again, the only times I've seen hackers are when I join party with high rank people, I just don't even accept those at all now cause I assume they are all hackers lol
How do you have demos? CS2 does not allow you to download demos
for any of these coaching videos it's either:
1. we're using a valve demo from before they turned off demo recording
2. it's from faceit
3. we're working off a POV screen recording
One correction. 5:48 That molly will not stop people from rushing most of the time, one or two will often run through if they are on mac-10s and they will absolutely not be low. Might be something changed with how mollies work now, but if this was a mac10 rush the first guy running you down would not even take enough damage to get you an assist in CS2 (which is now just 25 damage).
On T side personally I molly specifically car if I am close spawn and taking bannana control. The aim point is the corner of the house of behind car where wall meets roof. Molly perfectly spreads and does not touch half wall or anything other than car. Leaves you an open path to push in and funnels CT to hold very narrow angles for you to clear.
That's why you hold the molly for a bit then continue with util.
The coach has stated this before and told him to hold the molly for a second because of it
So did they enable demo viewer ?
as of this comment: no.
Im on the 499 like yeah boiii
how do you even download the replay? Its from a faceit game?
this is from matchmaking before valve turned off demo recording on their servers. but yeah you can still get demos from faceit
@@xboxlasagne is the series in a hiatus because of the demoviewer ?
@@zilliq nope! I have some stuff already recorded and we can still pull demos from FACEIT. we might end up looking at recorded POV VODs as well.
@@xboxlasagne great ! I'm excited for more ! I learnt so much from the inferno videos and we won a game the other day by fighting for banana every round, your format is great for learning and on top of that there's a story to follow about self improvement, loving it
i feel like this coach doesnt take into account the playscape. he coaches like every game is a faceit 10 game where the strategies are very rigid and every game you pretty much know what is going to happen but in lower ranks you have to play around moronic teammates, bad teammates, you yourself being not as good as your enemy or enemies that are just randomly cracked at aiming that keep going to the same site (so you stack it), therefore peeking banana probably isnt a good idea unless you want to get owned by a smurf awping banana.
I agree that there have been a couple circumstances captured in my videos where i'm like "no you don't understand in low ranks it's like THIS", but not doing something that can be beneficial because I'm scared of a smurf or whatever seems like a recipe for staying bad forever. if i want to get better i need to learn how to play with proper fundamentals so when i run into people who play "normal" (which is most of the time to be honest) i'm not shitting myself.
Hi , love your video .. can you send my your crosshair code?
thanks! unfortunately i have changed my crosshair multiple times since the recording of this video
I disagree with not going for a 2v4 retake. Very doable
He needs full util if he wants to take banana next round, even if it was a 20% chance to retake (which it probably isn't) losing the retake means he will probably lose the next round as well. Like at 7:05 he goes into a 3v5 retake on A, dies, then next round he has just enough for an HE, tries to take banana and dies
:)
to be honest... if i saved every time this guy tells you to save i would have lost so many games...
lol
3v5 and he's saying you should all save? No, you should see if you can get a pick and then act according to what happens.
I'm a Banana player myself, and a lot of what I see here hurts my soul.
Drunk while demo reviewing? Not good
This coach has a plenty of room for improvement in field of conveying the information and pointing out other’s mistakes
He does a good job 1 on 1. These are not beginner level tips, but they're great if you used to play at a decently high level few years ago and need a refresher. I forgot most of the lineups and expected them to be much different in CS2, so I'm super impressed that Valve was able to keep so many of them the same or only slightly modified. I know what the coach is talking about in most instances, but I can see how it would not be beginner friendly to talk about meta smokes/flashes from pro CSGO strats.
@@shouygui4955that’s not what they mean. They mean he is coming across a little easily annoyed/harsh. I understand his frustration when you feel like people aren’t processing your advice. Also it can help get the severity of the issue through to the person being coached if you’re a bit more harsh about it so they actually listen. But yea, sometimes it’s important to notice when things are too becoming critical and try to prevent the person from being discouraged. People don’t learn well when discouraged, but they also dont learn well when when they’re constantly given headpats. It’s gotta be in between.
A snowflake like you can't be coached.
Think maybe youre being sensitive and his accent is throwing you. Hes not being rude or harsh at all
I think he's just being matter-of-fact, which is good as a coach because you don't waste the player's time (that they're paying for). Harsh would be like someone in game berating you, not a coach being straightforward about mistakes
the title just sounds like ur a bad coach
maybe try to think a little longer about the title
all good on my end
