Saw them in Boston 12/16/2021 with my brother, who loves Genesis and Phil Collins. My brother is also mentally handicapped and has become withdrawn as he got older. But when Genesis started playing, his eyes lit up and 30 years were lifted. You old man, you can barely stand up. But you gave me my brother back last night.
God bless you and your precious brother! I saw them for the 1st time the night before. I have been a fan since 1973. I saw them with my 17 year old boy. What a gift these men gave us.
@oodoodanoo you broke my heart in the sweetest way. God Bless you and your brother. 💔
🙏
Tears in my eyes reading your message, the magic of Genesis. 🧡
dang, that's beautiful
You see, perfection is not the most important thing in life. And it is not the most important thing during this tour. Time flies; we get ill, we get old. We are all human and we are obviously imperfect. Soon we will all be gone anyway. But the power of this music is still here. And that is what is timeless.
It was always a beautiful song; perhaps now made more poignant with the passing of time and circumstance.
You are so right , I came to this realisation almost a decade ago when I lost both my parents due to old age . The strive for perfection is completely unrealistic and ultimately unattainable . We all have to do the best we can and live our best lives. Genesis and Phil in particular have nothing to prove , they are perfect to me anyway . I was worried and saddened when I saw that rehearsal documentary the other week but seeing these video uploads now that feeling has gone . Not perfect but who is ? and why should we worry about perfection anyway .
Agreed. If you stick to perfection, listen to CDs only and stay away live performances.
Phil's condition makes me sad but gives us strength at the same time. He has recovered well enough to do these shows.
And what a talent his son Nick is! He has learned all the notes and grooves his father played and provides energy to this legendary band.
@@jamespenn3195 Exactly what I had in mind. Thanks and all the best!
What saddens me is not that they got old, but that Phil got like 30 years older in 10 years.
I saw them in Philly on 12/2. God, I was crushed when I saw Phil struggling just to get on the stage. It was a stark contrast to their Turn It On Again tour in 2007. I have been to MANY concerts in my day (I’m 57) and that was one of the best concerts I have ever seen. I agree that Phil struggled many times but all of us Old Heads just had to see them live this one last time. They were and are the soundtrack of my youth. Sitting in a candle lit room, my audio setup cranking, smoking some stuff, and listening to Duke on vinyl. That was just heaven. Genesis - we love you and I hope Phil finds the peace he has always been searching for.
I get the feeling that this was a concert that they really needed to get Phil on the road just to be 'un retired', and good for them for doing that. And good for them for not going with autotune or piped in audio.
Saw this as a 17 yr old at Birmingham Odean in 1980 and saw it again 41 yrs later in Birmingham as a 58 yr old.
A wonderful concert that was full of joy and happiness but also sadness and pathos, mostly for Phil but also for that youthful exuberance we all had those many years ago. Could have shed a tear at the end with carpet crawlers and then three strangers who have been like friends for four decades stood there taking a bow for the last time in Birmingham
“Time went by, it wasn’t so easy now.” More prophetic than ever. It may not be easy for Phil now but as a whole, they are still slaying it!
all uphill and not feeling so strong... i think i just cried a bit
First time played since 1982
Lol, they ain't slaying shit! Take off your fan goggles. This is beyond awful! Thank God for Hackett and The Musical Box!
@@michaelpolese3440 we are entitled to like anything we want, go and watch a video you like
@@michaelpolese3440 A needless remark. Leave people to their enjoyment. I was there and it was superb.
I was there last night (22nd September). Phil was better on this one, but struggled with a couple of others. So What!! All power to him and the guys for the 2+ hours they gave us. I loved it!
Nobody made anybody pay to go. Ironically Duchess is about the rise and fall of a pop singer.
Un-Fuckin Beleivable ...One of my alltime fav...Depicts the Quick rise in Fame and The Fallout after..Tony Banks Masterpiece!!!!!
I get why you would think that ... but this is a group written piece formed in a jam. Tony and Phil have both stated in the past that it's right up there among Genesis' top 5 songs.
One of Banks' favorite Genesis songs.
I think he said he wrote the lyrics.
My life just zipped by , love you Phil 🙌
Breaks my heart to see Phil like this. He was and will always be the man. Just glad they've been apart of my life after all these decades.
The best rock band in the humanity history

Until roughly 78, yeah.
@@luckyrecords2565 sorry... Yes and King Crimson are not even top-50

This actually sounds awesome in this lower key. I am impressed. Thanks so much for sharing.
Yup, B-flat Major and C Major instead of D Major and E Major (studio version)
La musica non ha tempi.. Ho 61 anni e mi reputavo finito. Componevo musica prograssive da quando avevo 20 anni(i Genesis sui 30) ma io no li conoscevo.. Il prograssive lo avevo nel sangue.. Poi.. Tutta una vita scandita dalle loro canzoni.. Con "Many to many"..
My favorite song from my favorite Genesis album
My highlight of the show. The visuals were incredible and the new arrangement just sounded enormous.
I was so looking forward to seeing Duchess live for the first time. But in the Chicago show we got misunderstanding instead which is a fine song but not at the expense of Duchess
Agreed. It sounded incredible and the visuals were mesmerising
Fantastic performance. Nic is a natural for this type of music.
Who likes working with his dad? LOL
Hes good..no frills interpretation !
@@easyabc1404 In all fairness his dad is Phil Collins.
I saw them three times on this tour, Philly, NYC and Boston. This song rocked each night and really stood out. Nic killed the drumming on this tour and especially this song.
This is just gorgeous, I am so thrilled they're playing Duchess on their tour.
I bought my dad tickets to the Philly show. He's seen them 14 times, I haven't at all. This'll be the last chance I have to see them with him - I hope he enjoys it in a lower key. Honestly I think Phil sounds better than I thought he would, so I am excited as hell. Just hope a long-time fan like my dad enjoys his time.
I'm a long time (40 year) Genesis fan Dad, taking my son to his first Genesis show in Philly. I guarantee you your Dad is going to have a wonderful time. Phil does sound better than I expected, and honestly none of us old-heads could have imagined a Genesis show in 2021 to begin with! By the looks of these videos, it's going to be a celebration of everything Genesis has been to us for all this time, and it looks amazing! Enjoy the gig!
❤ I hope you have the best time with your Dad!
What a blessed dad for both his taste in music and his loving child 🙂
Just because he sits in a chair these days doesn't mean he's still not THE Phil Collins. Phil, on his worst day, has more talent than 99% of any other musician out there.
This song made me cry. "The crowd will roar for more" every time "Phill steps into the light" because he is a legend. Just remember Phill's energy singing this song back in the 80's. 30 years later, out-of-key, wrong tempo... who cares, he is a legend with the guts to "step into the light!"
Thank you for this gift, DeadMike. Last time I saw Genesis was in 1992 on the We Can't Dance tour.
I also saw them on Duke 1980, Mama 1982, and Invisible Touch 1985. I listen to their music almost daily.
Thank you again!
You should watch the whole show. I have a full show video.

Nice to see this in the set. Cool selection
The surprise of the set. Wish they play more songs that haven't played live or played very little.
Mixt of emotions! I will be just in front of Phil ... Floor Row # 6th Montreal Canada Nov. 22nd 2021 For my first time and probably the last time!!! As he says so well.... It's the first time, the last time we ever met ..met ...met.. :) & :( Thanksss!!
Just saw them last night at Madison Square Garden. What an awesome concert. Was blown away when the started playing Duchess
La più bella esibizione di tutto il concerto. Fa commuovere! Stupenda!
Full marks for sharing this and I’m glad to see judging from the amount of clips that the show venue staff have allowed filming.
There are loads of reasons like money, ill health, personal circumstances that may prevent people going to these gigs so it’s great you have shared clips.
I didn’t expect to see anything for ages !
Definitely a Banks championed selection. Known to be his favourite piece of theirs. And as time wore on, it turned out Duchess was Genesis. Banks always said this was the closest they came to an autobiographical piece but seeing it acknowledged on the finale was brilliant.
A fitting farewell song and the best version of it for me. Darker. Harder. Grittier. Poignant.
Never mind the tour title, Fading Lights, the encore. This is their sign off.
Duchess live 2021 is now my favorite genesis live song. The guitars at the start of the song have completely changed the song. It's a masterpiece now. Only wished the had played it like this on Duke.
Great to see them again, sounding incredible as always, type for this!!!
Great Duchess. Fantastic performance. Thanks for sharing it.✌️
Many thanks!!
This is so bittersweet for me to watch. On the one hand - I love this song so much. But I can’t get over Phil; I don’t like seeing these guys get old.
Awesome video! Thank you!

Nic is killing it Phil must be proud
outstanding !
They sound very good, as always.
Priceless
So many great songs I like to hear live... I wish I was in UK/US...
Duke was an astoundingly progressive album.
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven; that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.”
Say, where is that from?

My song!
Killer song, great they played it live again! But for my car sing along i prefer to play the album version ;-)
i'd prefer some soundboard bootleg like lyceum 1980 but what comment is that ....
Mixed emotions seeing this. Duchess is one of my favorite Genesis songs. I listen to it daily and have all the Genesis tour DVDs so I know the power and emotions Phil gave to the songs. I love the opening here with the lights. Very mesmerizing. However, I hate seeing Phil in such awful shape I hate more hearing his voice and him forgetting the words. I realize we all get old. I am aging too. However, I realize there are things I can’t do anymore and don’t. The words of this song are painfully ironic and I wish Genesis had known when to step out of the light. I think they should have hung up the shoes after 2007 tour. I prefer to remember Phil as he was. He said many times that he never practiced vocally to keep his voice up, that Genesis rehearsals were his practice. Perhaps if he’d kept his voice in shape, he could still sing. Sting, Gino Vannelli, even Peter Gabriel are all the same age and they can still sing beautifully. I wonder how different these concerts would have been if Phil’s voice was better. We’ll never know.
omggggggggggggggg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why did they stopped doing this song years later Why?
One of my favourite Genesis songs and very poignant.
Quem diria, Phil terminou como aquele velhinho devasso de The Musical Box. Touch me Now!
I didn't realize how much Phil deteriorated.. it's too painful to watch..
Yep, it's really not great. It's like asking Usain Bolt to run 100 metres in under 10 seconds when he's 70.
Phil once said if all they had to do was play without a million interviews and music videos he could do it easily
and the sleep....and the odds
We can see a digital camera on the left. Maybe they are shooting the DVD already. Won't attend any of those concerts. Will pick the DVD.
For the screens
@@Danlaw83 Yes i just noticed it on other videos from other users. It's the interior cameras for the screens it seems. Usually those cameras are at the end of the arena near the mixing console.
@@easyabc1404 I’ll just say, “sure.”
@@Danlaw83 I was wrong. But like i said, those interior cameras usually are at the end of the arena and manipulated by human beings. When you see two digital cameras on a rail like it's the case here, you jump to the conclusion that they are filming the DVD. Ayway. LOL
I very much doubt they will be filming for a DVD release this early on in the tour.
Manche Dinge haben ein gnädiges Ende! Das Konzert leider nicht! So nett sich Phil bemüht, it‘s over.
I saw this guy in the pub last night. They had to get him a taxi...
He hasn't sang Genesis songs since 2007. He sounds better than any of the twits out now. Mick Jagger sounded like crap when he sang Start Me Up live no matter what year he sang it. Only sang it ok on the orginal video and on Tattoo You album. Leave Phil alone,if he didn't he could do it,he would quit the tour like Neil Diamond did when he was diagnosed with Parkinsons
Seriously he can’t even fully open his mouth. He sounds awful.
@@cungar1001 let’s hope the world wants to see/hear what you have to say when you’re at the end of your contribution to it.

They usually wait that long for when tony starts. Sounded fine to me
That's why I love live music.
Eh, I don't think so. It's supposed to blend from the Linn to real drums anyway. He hit is fill properly, so sounds fine to me.
@@imjustsomeguy72 I wouldn’t even say that, I would say he nailed it there’s just natural reverb
@@hpatss4966 yeah, have to say Nic has exceeded expectations. He has the chops from his actual band, he hasn't put a foot wrong. Wish we could have seen him and Phil play together, that would be something.
They couldn't prop Phil up on a higher chair or a small stage to elevate him? He deserves that much. And where's Chester?
Looks like Chester doesn't feel too good either ...
They didnt ask him to do this tour.
I think that surgery Phil had made him worse.
Omg I'm so glad I didn't buy tickets.

Silly comment.
Always goin to be 1 on about steve hackett...dont think he played to stadiums which these guys have filled since he left...just saying 🤔
This is terrible. This shouldn't be happening. I won't be surprised if they pull the plug on this. Phil is doing this ALL for his son which is nice but jeez..... .
he might be sitting down and old but his spine has been broken for 10 years and he still wants to work. try this at 70 yourself.
@@thedocak7532 That's fine but if your body is broken to the point that you can't perform well and your causing even more damage to yourself(and potentially your legacy) you should bow out. Phil should be home. He should not be touring. I don't say any of this from any hate. I love Phil and Genesis but I'm not gonna pretend this is good.
@@Chrisdrumz it's his own body and he can do what he wants. his legacy belongs to him and the tour isn't getting a bad reception as you suggest.
All his life he wanted to work, and it's the retirement that made him more ill. Just because you don't think he can perform doesn't mean he shouldn't. And he holds the crowds very well on these tours.
In all honesty, yes it is sad. But as a fan, I like what Phil does and not giving up. I've seen him recently and he can very much perform for the crowd.
