If Horizon publishers were smart than they should have delayed. Launched 1 week before Elden Ring, and it was completely over shadowed. You would have think they would have learned after the first Horizon. It released 1 week right before LOZ Breathe of the Wild. Loved gow ragnarok, even got the platinum trophy for it, but I have to say elden ring is the right winner, ragnarok felt bland till mid-late game cause all the materials and nice skills can be found very much later on, also the final battle was super hyped up and it lasted like 20 minutes(counting odin's bossfight), we even get a basically pointless death of a major character to add depth to it(which i'm not really sure it does since it seems forced but whatever) and we get a super open ending already knowing there'll be no dlc.

As a GoW fan, I really don't mind Elden Ring winning GoTY. Both Ragnarok and ER are great games with their own strengths and flaws.

Greak enemies atleast have blood in them and you feel everything in it when you are engaged in tight and brutal scene where as in norse everyone is made of sparkles.

God of War was filled with cutscenes. -They re-used a lot of old Monsters and Enemies - long cutscenes with minimal effort (pushing only left Stick or one button) -suprisingly gets less and less gory - ENDING wasnt that much hype like GOW1 Its partly a movie and a game. But gameplay wise and also in replayability and map (open world,vairety). Elden ring wins by far . And again I dont liked Elden Ring that much . I play old games.

This is coming from a big fan of GOW since 2005 on ps2 but GOW Ragnarok was bent for me : -the whole game is walking on corridors. -it was basically a long interactif movie, the game could play itself if you want to. -Athreus gameplay parts were a nightmare. -the game durations is stretched with those puzzles that just block your way in that corridor even technically Kratos could escape those puzzles by climbing some rocks. - Kratos was a secondary character in his own frenchise. -that camera angle is not suitable for beats them all. -That RPG menu is confusing and doesn't suit god of war specially for a linear game. So in terms of Gameplay Ragnarok fails BUT in terms of Visuals and Story was excellent for a video game. Elden Ring succeeded in all where Ragnarok fails.

I Legit think God of wars 2018 jacked Red dead 2 in the GOTY , Im an amazing fan of Elden Ring , open world , lore (which is really hard to follow) , bosses but Ragnarok in terms of all overall aspect was more complete. But those 4 games were just amazing , it's just a prize afterall.

Greak enemies atleast have blood in them and you feel everything in it when you are engaged in tight and brutal scene where as in norse everyone is made of sparkles.
Even tho I dont like Elden Ring much. It deserved it. God of War was filled with cutscenes.
-They re-used a lot of old Monsters and Enemies
- long cutscenes with minimal effort (pushing only left Stick or one button)
-suprisingly gets less and less gory
- ENDING wasnt that much hype like GOW1
Its partly a movie and a game. But gameplay wise and also in replayability and map (open world,vairety). Elden ring wins by far .

This is coming from a big fan of GOW since 2005 on ps2 but GOW Ragnarok was bent for me :
-the whole game is walking on corridors.
-it was basically a long interactif movie, the game could play itself if you want to.
-Athreus gameplay parts were a nightmare.
-the game durations is stretched with those puzzles that just block your way in that corridor even technically Kratos could escape those puzzles by climbing some rocks.
- Kratos was a secondary character in his own frenchise.
-that camera angle is not suitable for beats them all.
-That RPG menu is confusing and doesn't suit god of war specially for a linear game.
So in terms of Gameplay Ragnarok fails BUT in terms of Visuals and Story was excellent for a video game.
Elden Ring succeeded in all where Ragnarok fails.

I Legit think God of wars 2018 jacked Red dead 2 in the GOTY , Im an amazing fan of Elden Ring , open world , lore (which is really hard to follow) , bosses but Ragnarok in terms of all overall aspect was more complete.
But those 4 games were just amazing , it's just a prize afterall.
