With that said though, even some of the entire kits could be mixed and matched to make it cheaper in some ways and more reliable in others. Love the show and builds
All Lo car needed was GKtech angle kit with BC racing coilovers and adjustable voodoo13 rear kit and would have the exact same feel as Hi car and still be half the price lol
There is nothing wrong with budget shopping on certain parts. I've got a lot of higher end parts for my engine build, but there are even higher parts out there. My build should be able to support north of 1000hp if I would ever want to take it that far, but then there are other parts when I shopped around to get the best deal I could because price didn't make a difference on what I was getting.
It's cool to see that most of the lo-car changes this season were actually "better" than hi-car's changes, whereas season 1 it was mostly hi-car's changes giving the best improvements.
@Brenton I also think that the slight improvements with ridiculously expensive parts is only valuable to drivers that need to shave milliseconds of times.
Its a really good example of why sometimes going for the higher end parts just means you get more adjustability instead of more fun. You can get to 90% of the high end pretty easy, but that last 10% is expensive, time consuming, and has more issues to solve. Like Hi-Car having 4x the volume in the caliper pistons on a manual hydraulic brake. They should have went with one or two piston Wilwoods in the same color or they would have to upgrade the master cylinder for the hand brake to something with more volume.
its mainly because they're just throwing money at it senselessly without putting much thought. If you wanted a real high / low budget comparison you'd just write a check to a race shop and have them sort your shit out. Wouldn't make for fun content though.
This time they're not using shit tier lo car parts, they're more mid range, and generally that's the best place for price and performance. Expensive gets you fancy, but if you can't use the fanciness, then it's spending for no purpose. The enhanced turning cycle didn't improve performance, nor did the higher quality calipers, and the usable power band is superior in lo car too, since drifting doesn't need higher speeds. Hi car might have some air somewhere in the lines, it shouldn’t be that much of a movement reguardless of how many pistons are there because it should just take more fluid into the lines and sitting in the calipers. All it should take is displacing an ounce or two of fluid to get them fully engaged because they move such a small distance, that or you need a bigger reservoir.
The car is slow and needs an oil change after 5 miles. Cracked headgasket. What 250hp? Lmao they need brakes to go faster on a flat course? Shit stinks💩

But like, how is $800 “low”? I’ve spent under $200 on my in-line hydro handbrake kit and it works great for me. Wouldn’t going in-line vs dual-caliper be a better comparison?
Glad I'm not the only one to say something about that.... $800 is getting into the pricey territory for a hydro and plenty of setups can be had for under $500.
Really cool to see a real world example of how more pistons doesn't = more better for brakes. A lot of high performance cars come from the factory with single piston brakes that do tremendously well.
I really hope there’s another season of high low. They’ve done off-road trucks and drift Z’s so I hope they do something with auto cross or drag racing

I think the next idea should be hi lo with lowriders I loved the episode they did on past gas about them and there is so much you could do with it, like paint job, interiors, sound system, wheels, hydraulics, suspension and then for the finally they could go face to face in a hop off submitting into a lowrider show or get an actual club to judge their cars without telling them who spent more
Ideally, they could have gone back to the garage and worked out some issues with the Hi Car e-brake before trying again. It seems like there's some definite tuning/cable replacement needed on that car.
I'm not an expert, but to me it looks like high car got their maths wrong & didn't correctly match their master cylinder to their calipers & it's either not moving enough fluid, or the cylinder ratios aren't sufficiently multiplying the applied force from the master cylinder.
@@Perfectly_Other if thats the case it would have more leverage, but should always be easyer to lock the wheel. The problem its probably air in the system, it should be bleed again.

Would love to see a short video reevaluating the limited slip diff vs the welded diff with respect to drifting, because it definitely does make a difference
So an honest observation/question In the last few episodes James seems to be off. I dont know if he's not feeling well or is not as excited to do the episodes anymore. Like Nolan, Justin, Jobe rest of crew all seem excited to be filming and doing things. James seems to be reading a script or just annoyed to be there. The way he holds his body, The way he looks at the camera, his mannerisms all seem to be different then when he first started Donut, or even as a few months ago. I really enjoy this show and hope he's ok with his heart/medical situation, also hope he still enjoys doing his job
14:58 the explanation is incorrect. It's implying that the force being spread out over a wider area somehow means there's less force acting on the rotor. In a closed system, P1 (the pressure in the master cylinder) = P2 (pressure acting on 1st cylinder in caliper) = P3 (pressure acting on the 2nd cylinder in caliper); F1/A1 = F2/A2 = F3/A3; F1*A2/A1 = F2; F1*A3/A1 = F3 Assuming the pressure being generated at the master cylinder is the same between the two cars, and that each Wilwood piston is the same surface area as the stock caliper, then the Wilwood would be generating more force on the rotors because of its larger surface area contacting the rotor. An issue with the setup is the effective moment arm acting on the rod from the Sikky lever. Looking at where the rod attaches to the lever, it is evident that the force translated through the lever into the rod will be at an angle offset from the rod axis. It looks like there is about 30 degrees of displacement before the force vector acts in line with the axis. By that point your arm is already in the seat
So, the fix is in the handle geometry. Perhaps the connecting rod could be shortened just a little bit or the anchor point adjusted to put more force and sooner on the other side of the pivot point
Nolan is starting to hold himself like a tradesman! Confidence, dexterity, body positioning, troubleshooting, overall attitude. Really awesome. Biggest transformation of the series tbh

Love Hi/Low. I REALLY loved when you guys did the Tacos, I like the 4WD side of vehicles these days way more than cars and street racers now that I've gotten older
Older… and clearly wiser, young grasshopper.
Agreed! 4wd of road will get you to way cooler places. Rather be there than a track for sure.
Can you do a "this is where things stand currently" video. I love donut. It's so great seeing Nolan go from james' son to an man of his own, has be an amazing experience.
This has to be one of the most useful series, really good information. I've enjoyed it from beginning.
But like, how is $800 “low”? I’ve spent under $200 on my in-line hydro handbrake kit and it works great for me. Wouldn’t going in-line vs dual-caliper be a better comparison?
This honestly is the right comparison for hi-low.
Glad I'm not the only one to say something about that.... $800 is getting into the pricey territory for a hydro and plenty of setups can be had for under $500.
I actually can't with the editing and sound effects, these vids are just too funny.
I would love to see a Hi/Low series with two oldtimers, it would have lots of potential in my opinion at least
maybe some volvos :)
@@berg_ volvo 240 yes
@@berg_ no they’re obviously gonna use the Ford Model T lol
2:37 "pressurises brake fuel" - nice lol
Really cool to see a real world example of how more pistons doesn't = more better for brakes. A lot of high performance cars come from the factory with single piston brakes that do tremendously well.
Would love to see Donut tackle a mini truck like a Chevy Luv or old Datsun for the next money pit.
13:23 Whoever transports these Z's didn't learn from last episode and again, strapped them down by the wheels on the trailer.
That transition at 17:17.... Sheesh that's so cool
I really hope there’s another season of high low. They’ve done off-road trucks and drift Z’s so I hope they do something with auto cross or drag racing
Autocross would be interesting
Yeah lets watch them break cheap cars they paid cali prices for.

I love this series, and love the mech. Felt this season 2 was rushed. But, im always excited to see more content. You guys are Awesome!!!!

I think I’m 100% for low car, like cheering for the underdog. Another great episode
I'm waiting for a car with power. They have such weak cars.
“And now it’s time to do lines!” Definitley had the wrong idea in my head
Right in the morning sheesh
Yup😭
i said the same thing😂😂

I think the next idea should be hi lo with lowriders I loved the episode they did on past gas about them and there is so much you could do with it, like paint job, interiors, sound system, wheels, hydraulics, suspension and then for the finally they could go face to face in a hop off submitting into a lowrider show or get an actual club to judge their cars without telling them who spent more
This was the coolest, most informative, well produced, easiest to learn to install, and PROFESSIONAL video I’ve EVER send from you guys. Amazing work
Love the series 🔥 would be cool to see a (HIGH/LOW ) DRAG BUILDS
Same thoughts! That would be 🔥
Slow car vs slow car.

Props to low car and it’s cool to see Nolan’s excitement during a upgrade! High car is sick and it’s badass that zack gets to go ham on it!
Nothing better than donuts in the morning!🤝🏽✨
@@PedroCosta-gv6jn nah the calipers too big for the master cylinder as the guy above said the master isn't moving enough fluid for that big caliper.
@@mktrollop1093 if that was the case the wheels wouldnt lock at all, no matter the force, because he would run out of leverage.
@@PedroCosta-gv6jn we'll see, but it could just be giving enough force not quite lock them up immediately

Donut Media introducing a new generation to Drum & Bass.
"Just keep pushing and eventually it'll go."
"See how I do that with my hand all wonky just to give you the shot?"
"If only we didn't need to bleed."
"Really had to yank on it to get it out."

i still can't get over how good low car sounds it's amazing
Well they got the old exhaust off of high car. That thing sound so good ong
@@schwuzifr tho one of the best things they done this season so far
These cars are getting more fun as the episodes progress. Excited what you'll come up with next.
The resale value for both these cars is gonna be insane when this series officially ends
30k or best offer after putting 50k into it 🤣. But honestly we don't put money into cars to raise the value we do it just to have more fun so loosing some money is well worth it.
For donut fans, maybe. Actual value would probably be close to none
Would love to see a short video reevaluating the limited slip diff vs the welded diff with respect to drifting, because it definitely does make a difference
Nolan is becoming my fav in donut.
Hes awsome and his getting the attitude and self confidence thing too.
Keep it up!
So an honest observation/question
In the last few episodes James seems to be off.
The mans been through a lot, no doubt.
Well James is running a business lol… The guys are just fooling around
I’ve definitely been seeing the same thing. Hope he’s doing ok.
@@Shagedog10 Nolan is his business partner and he seems to be loving it...I think there is some underlying not donut stress going on

3:54 Yeah James. “Does twice as expensive mean twice as better?”
Wait... $800 is the low priced handbrake? What about the eBay $100 special? 😂
The handbrake itself was just a touch over $100. Unless you meant like a $100 kit.
14:58 the explanation is incorrect. It's implying that the force being spread out over a wider area somehow means there's less force acting on the rotor.
In a closed system, P1 (the pressure in the master cylinder) = P2 (pressure acting on 1st cylinder in caliper) = P3 (pressure acting on the 2nd cylinder in caliper);
F1/A1 = F2/A2 = F3/A3; F1*A2/A1 = F2; F1*A3/A1 = F3
Assuming the pressure being generated at the master cylinder is the same between the two cars, and that each Wilwood piston is the same surface area as the stock caliper, then the Wilwood would be generating more force on the rotors because of its larger surface area contacting the rotor.
@@MogoPrime Indeed. In an ideal setup, the handbrake goes from zero to full braking force with zero lever travel.
Last episode? Nooooo !!! We need more. We know it's a ton of work, but we love you for it!
7:19 THE ONE PIECE,THE ONE PIECE IS REAL!!!
