    the problem is that it's hard to not do comparisons, when we perfectly know that other people will compare us to other people. If one lived in a desert world, probably that person would not have any comparison problem in the first place.

    • @buster2134
      @buster2134 4 месяца назад +3

      it’s hard not to do comparisons when we know people do comparisons? That was the point of the video. It was explaining how everything, every single abstractions your ego makes is a result of comparison. But i think he did a poor job explaining this. In buddhism it’s simpler, the “comparisons” he refers to is upadana which is that “force” that makes you attached to your thoughts and beliefs. The fact that you wrote this proves it. You are essentially saying being tall is being tall, and being short is being short. And being isolated in a desert is peaceful because being around people will inevitably get you compared. Isn’t that a hugeee comparison there?

    • @buster2134
      @buster2134 4 месяца назад +4

      But you are almost right, stopping comparisons come with nirvana or enlightenment, which is all bs probably. Nirvana includes dis attachment to life, but even then, going to a desert wont rid comparison, you can compare heat to cold, light to dark, abstractions to abstractions and worst of all, abstractions from your thoughts.

    • @LeoDCole
      @LeoDCole 4 месяца назад +7

      It is necessary to make comparisons! Otherwise you would Not be able to live.
      For example if I cant reach things in the supermarket because I am too small, I have to search a Person who is taller than me.
      But it would be good if you dont depend your own value with those comparisons.

    • @gamewriteeye769
      @gamewriteeye769 4 месяца назад +2

      Another issue related to this is that people put values to comparisons in order to judge you. Bullies, for example, will prey on abstractions you believe to be true when it's said or acted upon to you. That force overwhelms you and you can either retaliate back(fight) or take it(flight or freeze) and what follows depends on specific situations. There's a cost to what we believe to be true or false(positive or negative) and that affects how we see the world.

    • @LeoDCole
      @LeoDCole 4 месяца назад +1

      @@gamewriteeye769 Yes it can be really hard to get treated Like that. But it can help to realise that These are just the conditions of the other person, you have norhing to do with them. Altho if you are able to find your purpose and passion and MAKE it your profession, it “I am…” could be a description of your profession I guess. Instead of “I am a psychiatrist”, it would be “I am a person who helps other people feel better and live more fulfilling lives.” Or “my purpose is to help others find their purpose”.

    • @davido1884
      @davido1884 4 месяца назад +5

      Not necessarily! Think of it like this there's always going to be someone who always thinks they're not good enough whether you win or lose all the time like Doctor K said it's all about comparison you can be either a Winner or Loser and still feel like you're not enough a lot of the time from those insecurities brought up from your upbringing and your Ego is where all of that is stored so the idea isn't to say the Ego is bad or if we remove it we lose that slice of life it's rather saying the Ego is where our defense mechanisms are and bad/toxic habits (Which could be bragging if taken too far where it starts to become invalidating toward one party leveraging over each other leading to arguments from you guessed it insecurities!) and things that we use for us to say we can't do something or vice versa something is justified for so and so reason to protect us when something bad happens that we learn from our Parent's typically that made us feel neglected or dismissed or abandoned or destroyed our self esteem through abuse or were too overbearing which we then set ourselves up to think this is the standard for a healthy relationship and those things are okay to do toward another person also that we have to unlearn and relearn so theoretically the more you come to peace with those things the more fun you actually have because you're not worried or stressed out about what if and are instead setting yourself up for excitement and success doing the things you need to do for you instead of turning everything around the world against you living to others expectations it starts to become for you by living for your own expectations :). So the question here is are you bragging for yourself or for leverage over someone else and that's your answer! It's okay to be proud of yourself for saying you did it but not proud to the point that it becomes a leverage game of beating someone else for the influence or gain of something that will only lead you toward a downward spiral hence the 1st of the Seven Deadly Sins, the Sin of Pride.
