@@StevenSchultz Two other options I'd recommend: Konica Genba Kantoku 35 and the Canon WP-1. The Konica has the sharpest lens of the three. The WP-1 has the best viewfinder and controls. Ultimately I kept the WP-1 along with an Olympus Mju-V, as the V is weather sealed with a zoom. Great pictures and coverage of an excellent camera!
I just bought this camera! and I'm really excited to finally go back and do street photography. I live in Mexico and I'm a little affraid of going out with my 6D Mark II, besides it is not very practical for the streets. Great review and beautiful photos.
Definitely have to try this camera. I shoot a lot of water photography (on digital) and last summer I tried a kodak waterproof disposable camera with poor results. Great video! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Hey man, at 1:36 and 2:06 what was the cause of this light issue and what would you do to avoid it? Or is this just reflection off your computer screen?
Hey there! Great question! Are you referring to the bright rectangles in the image? From my understanding, that occurs when water is resting on the protective casing over the lens and light is hitting it! It renders as a kind of rectangular bokeh in the foreground. Hope that helps!!
Sheeeesh. It might be a great camera but your eye for photographs is amazing! What film stock did you happen to use? good stuff, I’m about to pick up an l35 aw/af of my own :)
Thank you so much, Victor!! I really appreciate it man 😊 For these images, I used Portra 800, Portra 400, Ektar 100, and Kodak Ultramax! It’s an awesome little camera, I hope you love it!
It looks like a waterproof version of the L35AF which has amazing optics despite its unassuming design. I wonder if the two models share similar glass.
That's exactly what it is! The L35AW uses the same lens as the L35AF2, which is slightly different than the L35AF. They're all phenomenal, and the added waterproofness of the AW opens up so many possibilities. Thanks for watching!
Hey there! I’ve only had this issue once, and it was because the batteries were dead. Once I replaced them, it fired like normal again! Hope that helps!!
I shoot with the Canon WP-1 which is waterproof as well! Just a question, do you develop and/or scan your film yourself? I’ve been sending mine to Darkroom because I’m newer to shooting film. If you do, please share what you use! Thanks man!
So cool!! That was the other one I was looking at when I was considering the Nikon! I bring my film to a local lab for development and then scan everything myself with Negative Supply gear! I use my Canon R5 as the “scanner” and the light bed, stand, and film carrier from NS. Everyone in our studio uses it and loves it!
Currently in Corfu I have this camera but I'm too chicken to submerge it. Is there a way of testing whether it's waterproof without taking a potential loss 😂
Haha hey I feel you in that! Before I took it out on a shoot, I tested it in a sink by splashing it with water and slowly getting it more submerged. It’s a little nerve-racking haha so just start with a splash!
You're correct, there are no aperture controls! You have control over AF/zone focus and the flash, but other than that, it's fully automatic. Any images you see with shallow DOF are just because the camera needed to open the aperture wide open to expose the image correctly!
@@StevenSchultz Ahhh I figured it out - I'm looking for the action touch like you have! How would you say the focus is compares say a yashica t4 or something nicer? And how do you like the evening flash? Your photos looked lovely but my biggest concern is finding a 35mm that will rarely fail focus that won't negate precious film. Thanks!
I have the Minolta Weathermatic and honestly the quality is so poor it seems like a toy camera, I was looking into the Nikonos as an upgrade but this seems like the perfect option!
Hi Elise! The autofocus does not work underwater; that’s why Nikon added the zone focus dial on the top of the camera. You have to estimate the distance between you and your subject, and select the corresponding distance on the zone focus dial. It’s a little tricky at first, but easy to get the hang of!
When you finish your roll and go to unwind the camera do you just switch the unwind lever and it unwinds the film automatically? I’m having a hard time unwinding my film
FIRST ONE HERE WHICH MEANS I WIN....your heart

great video. so cool to see a video on a not so known camera. hope to see more content soon!
Thanks so much, Colton!! Really appreciate it man. Definitely going to talk about this camera more in the future 😊
Love it. These shots were insane.

This is such a jood comment THANKS DUDE!!
Man, this looks great! My beloved canon sure shot wp-1 has started leaking underwater. Maybe I’ll pick one of these up if I can’t get it fixed.

Great video, now I desperately want this camera....can't seem to find many in good working condition, much less for $99 !
it’s me!!! i’m in the video!!!
Woohoo!!! You’re a star! ✨
Great video! What film stock are you using for the photo at 2:37? Those colors are amazing
Thanks so much, Spencer! That shot was on Ektar-one of my favorite images of the year!
Great review, definitely grabbing one!
Thanks Garrett! It’s one of my favorite cameras to use - hope you enjoy it too!!
Did you get a problem with the shutter getting stuck and not taking photos? If so how did you solve it?

I live in france and sadly I couldn't found this camera ! Do you guys know how can I found it ? Please.
Good advice. Thank''s I am looking for a camera next summer. Nikonos was on the list but prices are insane right now. So this is a good alternatve.
For sure! These are excellent and much more reasonably priced. Thanks for watching!!
Awesome video Steven!! 🎉❤
Thanks Mom!! 😊
Thanks for this Video!
Is the AF2 also waterproof?
This is the AW AF which is basically the L35AF2 aka One Touch with a waterproof casing around it.
Doesnt look like theres an aperture control, but some of your photos have a pretty shallow depth of field. Hows this working?

Thanks! How’s the maintenance and care especially with saltwater?
Tell us more about this lcap cheat code. 🤔
how does it differentiate from the the one touch? is one touch weather proof? (not water proof?)
This version is waterproof! The Nikon L35AF / One Touch is not waterproof.

What font did you use for this video?
Hi AJ, it's called Carol Gothic!
ouuh ! Nice review on this GEM of a camera. I should probably get another one ...
Thank you so much, Vincent! Do iiiiit do it! 😎
@@StevenSchultz maybe the bright yellow Minolta ?
which film did u use for the vacation photos ?
It was a combination of Ektar 100 and Portra 800!

Damn it. I had convinced myself I didn't need any new cameras. Aaaaaaaaaand I'm now definitely on ebay...
Hahahaha!! Sorry for the temptation 😅😂
You should look up if its designed for salt water from the ocean. The iPhone 12 Pro Max doesn´t support salty water :o
Yeah that’s a great question! I’ll look into that for sure! Agreed, phones and cameras generally don’t mix well with saltwater 😬

Great video 👏👏
Thank you!!!

HAHAHA I’ll consider it once I get it developed 😉
Have you ever shot film underwater?!
I put my cinema camera in water!
