Yes! M6, m6 mk2, m50 & m3 here. Canon abandoned the m system way too soon. The 22 was way underrated. Great vid! The jpeg does mess with reds on my m6's.
I have an m6 and I was feeling fomo because everyone has a Sony, Fuji, or Ricoh, But my jaw dropped when I saw your secret cam was a M6 and your praises for it helped me appreciate what I already have, it is a really good little camera! Although the shutter is embarrassingly loud 😂
I had abandoned my G7x Mk iii as my travel camera ever since I picked up a M240, your enthusiasm on micro edc camera really reinvigorate me to use that camera again. And you are absolutely right, the waist level tilt screen format is totally a vibe for street; I used to think Sony and Nikon were silly for having that on their mirrorless instead of a flip, but now that I am shooting more with waist level camera, I totally get it!
The M50 is also a nice camera, two people I know have them, including my gramps that's been a broadcast engineer for must of his life. His first digital camera used was a 1999 2.7mp D1 borrowed from the studio. It's a capable little camera and they've got awesome sensors in them, you can't go wrong with the image quality. It was enough for him to stop and just use it. When you're 72, you're probably sick of carrying a brick when you're out hiking around.
Great choice, I really liked a lot of the EOS M cameras, and the system became a lot more attractive when Sigma released some of its DC DN lenses in the EF-M mount. Bargain so be had, and of course it can also adapt really successfully, EF and lots more. The M50 II was my favourite, especially in the white, looking like a little stormtrooper.
Pleasant surprise today seeing my little friend the M6 Mk1 getting some love :) Although I mainly use mine with the 22MM and adapted EF lenses from my older 5D Mk2, the 32MM F1.4 is still on my wish-list to get...hopefully sometime in the coming year.
I don't know...There's a VERY limited selection of native EF-M glass, and the separate EVF for the M6 often is expensive and hard to find. I would personally go with the Panasonic GX line of cameras or the Olympus E-M10 line. Lovely compact rangefinder format for the GX and both Panny and Oly have decent built in EVFs, and, most importantly of all, a MASSIVE selection of native m43 glass. The Panasonic GM5 is even more tiny, and the G100 is dirt cheap because it got so maligned. The later GX cameras also make fine 4K b-roll devices. Only real advantage of the Canon cameras is the dual pixel autofocus for video, and slightly larger APS-C sensor. By the way, you should be able to get the mk 1 LX100 for way cheaper than the $500 mentioned. I've gotten it for half that price used with patience. A steal, IMHO! Thanks for the video!
I daily drive an original EOS M. I got it last year and it’s great. Even in lowlight it works great. I haven’t used any first party lenses yet but using my film camera lenses (Pentax 50mm f2, Industar N-61 etc) and MF TTartisan lenses like the 25mm f2 is really easy on the wallet. Crowdak is a great film simulation too, definitely my favourite If you want focus peaking on M-bodies then you can try Magic Lantern. It’s mostly for video but the manual focus aids are really good for vintage lenses IMO. It gives you much nicer punch in/xoom focusing and then it adds focus peaking (at least to the OG M). Thanks for the video!
I've lost count how many times I instantly went to look for gear you reviewed 😅 Lately, finally, I come to my senses repeating to myself that I already have the gear I need/want. Currently, I'm playing with LX3 or TZ80 as daily tiny cameras, however, image uality is not on par with camera I'm used to. Apart from E-M1 mk2 which I got for incredible low price, my the most favourite small camera is Lumix Gx80. There are so many great tiny lens! 12-32mm kit zoom, 20mm f1.7, 14mm f2.5, Olympus 45mm f1.8. And if I feel "fancy" 12-35mm f2.8 for bigger footprint but amazing quality. I haven't seen review of GX lineup here (yet) 😅 maybe it will be the next EDC 😄
I’ve been on a multi year quest for a large sensor compact for under 500. I refuse to pay Ricoh or Fuji prices. Saw this video and immediately went on MPB and grabbed an m6 and 22mm excellent condition for just under 500. MPB sponsor this channel!
@@Username_CC_ good point I bought my first xe2 for 200 bucks and unfortunately I sold it bc then the prices went up to 500. Sold my x100v for 1000 sadly during the pandemic right before the prices went bonkers
Such wonderful enthusiasm, love it!! Who else started searching secondhand stock online even while the video was playing...?! Found one...tempted now 😊
Awesome vid. My main edc is the m200! AF is faster than m6 and it’s so tiny. I paid like $520 for m200 + 15-45mm kit and 22mm lens. Such a good deal.. canon made a mistake ending the ef-m line.
You could talk about wood shavings (or something) and I would be excited that there's a new video from you! I happen to love cameras, so I am always glad when you have a new video! It's fun to hear about an everyday carry camera and what some of the considerations are. We all have slightly different criteria and I love hearing how people work this out. Most of my cameras are small, although I do love a chunky slr/dslr, and a bit of my collection was inspired by you! Thanks for your videos, photography, and your energy and presence! It's good to see you!
I had been waiting for the camera reveal since seeing you post banger pics on Instagram and am surprised the camera is a Canon! The colors sooc in my Canon M50 were leaving me uninspired, so I jumped to Fuji for the film sims. After watching your video and seeing your photos, I realized I really needed to learn editing instead of jumping from the Canon ship! I am enjoying Fuji, but I could have definitely saved some money. Oh well! Side note: thanks for all you do to inspire female wannabe photographers like me. 😊
I have to say, since I discovered your channel in the beginning of this year you are not good for my camera addiction 😜😅😀 Although I own modern systems like the Nikon Zf, LUMIX S9 and Leica Q3 43, I still have a lot of fun using and testing out other and older cameras. And you were a big influence me getting the LUMIX LX100, Canon 5D Classic (currently also looking at the Nikon D700 😅😃), Fuji XT1 and the Leica M8 - and that’s only digital 😆 And for every camera you were always on point and I enjoy these very much 😊 Your videos are for me personally so refreshing and I really enjoy every single one of them watching. I hope you and your family are doing well after your lost and grief. All the best to you and greetings from Germany 🍀
Put on your future to do list for EDC. Sony A7C. Just bought one for $900. Small. Lightweight. Full frame. Sony autofocus. Lots of lense choices. EVF. IBIS is OK. Good video. I haven’t played with mine much though. Just be on the lookout. Had an extraordinary experience. Went to a local camera store extravaganza with plan to purchase a 3 stop ND filter. Between the store and brand discounts Bought LUMIX G9ii for $899. New in box. The price was so enticing I just had to have it. Mask On Nurse Marty (Ret)
As a personal fun camera the M6 Mark II was the closest to perfection for me. I had to sold it (still regretting it). With the 22mm, 11-22mm (best lens in the system imho) and 55-200mm that was a fantastic setup. Same size as a m4/3 kit but with a bigger sensor and (much) better AF. You can set three separate dial to each part of the exposure triangle and has a dedicated button for back button focus. Noise levels are much better on the M6 II. And btw I never noticed the known shutter shock issue on the M6 II. So one more vote for the M6 II from me :) Love the channel!
A pair of things about lenses: - Why Canon? Why don't you port your 32 and 22mm to the RF-S mount? Same lens, same optics, small size, but RF mount. Please Canon!!! Do it! - It would be great if someone (Megadap I'm looking at you) make a EF-M to Nikon Z adapter. The flange distance and diameter allows it, and the Canon AF firmware is already known. Megadap make the EF to Z and the Sony E to Z. It wouldn't be difficult to make the EF-M to Z.
For real, especially if they thought it good enough for the 33mp M6 ii. Would be great for the cheaper R50, too. I mean, it basically is the M50 of R Mount..
Went down the same rabbit hole about a year ago. I have the M50 II as my EDC, and decided to go with the M3 with the EVF-DC1 as my backup, exactly because of all the same limitations you mentioned on the M6. Really wanted the M6 II but that was about 2.5x the price of the M3. The one thing I really miss is the Silent Mode. I actually see the limited number of lenses as a positive so I don't get "analysis paralysis" that I get with bigger systems. And yes, that 22mm is the bees knees. For now, I have solved my GAS problems, until the rumored fixed lens medium format Fujifilm camera comes out (or not) next year.
I've been shooting the original M since 2014, love that 22mm lens. Camera is slow, but I shot manual focus film cameras for about 50 years before that so not too big a deal. It even has face tracking that works when it feels like it. The photos from it are great, I just keep pushing the shutter button. For someone shooting for fun it's a great camera. Generally I get a few that are worth looking at. If I need more speed or different length lenses I have the EOS 40d still working. It's just more work and louder to shoot.
Uhh I‘ve been thinking about getting the m50 for a while (even talked to you on IG about it, thanks again for helping me out there) and this video reasured me to get either that one or maybe even the m6II (whichever I find for cheaper I guess)☺️thank you soo much I always appreciate your insights and adore your pictures/ videos
@21:40 you can touch the screen on the lower right corner to punch in to manual focus! I was also annoyed at the two step process until I realized that little magnifying glass icon does the same thing! The M6 is a really fun camera and looks nice with the 7Artisans 35mm f1.4 silver color lens mounted to it. It's a really well built lens and feels good in the hand.
Very true! The magnifying glass is a great feature, but unfortunately, doesn’t work with your eye up to the EVF, which is how I like to shoot. When using the EVF there’s no direct path to punch the zoom which drives me crazy, but apparently it is available on the MKII
@@OneMonthTwoCameras oh, I see. I don't have the EVF. I do have the M50 MKii and it has single button magnify thru EVF.. Canon always seems to do weird things with their cameras...
@@OneMonthTwoCameras Great video as usual. After hearing your must have list and reading this coment, have you ever considered the Lumix GX 80 or GX9 ? Not the greatest auto-focus in the business but still quite decent, other than that, they pretty much tick all the boxes...they also have IBIS which is great for video or night shots. Cheers
@@NunoJoelPrivado I love my GX85/9. It ticks many of the EDC boxes. Wish LUMIX included a microphone jac. Love the L monochrome D jpeg. My favorite B&W. Just bought the G9ii and looking forward to trying the Leica monochrome. Just picked up a GX85 for $300 with battery charger while visiting NYC the middle of September. My backup body. Mask On Nurse Marty (Ret)
The M system may have been discontinued by Canon, but I have no intention of getting rid of my M bodies, M lenses and third party lenses. I own the M, M10, M50 and the three zooms, 22mm, 28mm macro and several 7 Artisans, TT Artisans and Meike lenses. It's a great system and there are plenty of great deals out there. I also shoot many of my EF lenses and also adapt many "vintage" lenses for even more choice of glass. PS: Dear Santa, please can I have the M 32mm.
In terms of high-quality compact cameras, I'm currently gravitating around these three: Olympus XZ-1, Nikon 1 V3, and Fujifilm X70. I like the Olympus for the CCD and the colours, the V3 because it gives me a bit more flexibility having interchangeable lenses, and the Fuji X70 because it has the largest sensor of the three and the film simulations. Special mention: the Pentax Q. It doesn't meet almost any of your criteria, but (as you know) it's a really fun camera to carry around - I can put the camera, an additional Pentax Q lens, all my Pentax Auto-110 lenses and the adapter in one small & lightweight camera bag. But if I was forced to choose only one among these right now, I'd likely pick the Fujifilm X70. I always found the Canon EOS M system intriguing, and your video only reinforced my curiosity, hehe! Cheers! //Rick
Great video! I love the eos m system, i took so many photos with it, so compact. Combined with the sigma lenses such a joy! There are some limitations, but its ok.
Allie! Song choice always on point (and love the bit in the end 😁) so cool that you reviewed that camera ages ago with adorama - now I wonder if I actually saw the video ages ago but never made the connection! A friend of mine had the m100 and the 22mm pancake as her edc/family cam and that started me thinking about the m line several years ago…it too had the bounceable pop up flash, but no hot shoe and optional evf but oh so compact. I almost got the m200, but then saw the m50 at a great price, and then bought the m50ii a year later. Agree that the mechanical shutter is *not* discreet at all, and I’d be fine with it if it didn’t sound like something was broken 😅. I know your priority is to keep the package small, but if you get the EF-efm adaptor it opens the system up to even more lens options if you get bored with the m-mount offerings. I got the 22mm, sigma 30mm and 56mm contemporary primes and I love them - 16mm is a RUclipsr staple, but it was too big and unwieldy. Anyways, great video as always, take care!
Actually look into adapting the EFS 55-250 STM instead of using the 55-200. I use this small setup when I need more reach with the kids, like at the zoo, etc. 👍
@@OneMonthTwoCamerasI love the 55-200. It’s really sharp, focuses fast and the stabilisation is excellent. It is a bit plasticky but that means it is nice and light.
The only cameras I have right now are Canon EOS Ms (M6 and M50), and ever since I started following your content (1-2 years ago?) I've been hoping to see you review one of them, but I assumed they were simply too modern and vanilla for you to care. I liked them a lot, but I simply didn't think of them as "fun" cameras, compared to some of the older and quirkier cameras you've reviewed. And at the same time, they weren't modern enough to have all the bells and whistles of the latest Sony or Canon R. After watching almost all of your reviews, I fell on the gear trap for a bit, obsessing about the perfect camera to buy, and which was supposed to be much cooler than my unremarkable "dead system" Canons. Luckily I got over that phase before spending money I didn't have into a new body, and I really got in tune with the "no bad cameras" philosophy which was the whole point of your gear reviews. Then you started the mystery cam thing on Instagram, and it really got me interested. This was the first time I was really expecting a particular video of yours to drop (usually I just stumble upon them some days or even weeks after you post), and it was so funny to finally discover this misterious camera you were enjoying so much was the same one I used to think of as boring! By now I've already fallen in love with my M6, but it still made me happy to see you enjoy it as well, confirming it is a genuinely good and fun camera on its own right. That being said, I never really invested in native EOS M glass: I only have the kit lens, a fully manual 50mm f1.1 Chinese lens, a vintage Canon FD 24mm f2.8 and an adapted (and gigantic) Canon EF 16-35mm f2.8 that kinda defeats the purpose of having such a small body but has served me well for shooting weddings, which is something I do from time to time (so yes, these are perfectly capable machines, apart from being fun EDC/friends and family compact cameras). Funnily enough, just this month I bought the 22mm f2 you loved so much, and got the Sigma 56mm f1.4 as an (early) Christmas gift, but I'm still expecting them in the mail because I live in Argentina. Your review made me even more eager to receive them and start having even more fun with my camera. Thanks for what you do! Your content has really shaped the way I see gear now. I got my first DSLR when I was 13 so I basically grew up shooting, but I never had as much fun as I've been having these past two years after getting a small body with the kit zoom and two manual primes. Greetings from Buenos Aires!
I loved both the Nikon Coolpix A (had two of them, one brand new when it came out, and then a used one from Japan), and the Canon m series. I had the m100, and loved the form factor. Would’ve loved an additional dial, because you could shoot it manual, but a lot of it was through touch screen.
Great video. I think I've settled on the Fujifilm X30 as my everyday as it's got an EVF that my Fujifilm X-M1 of similar age doesn't. Hybrid autofocus (AF) system that uses both contrast and phase detection and it's ten years old! Oh, manual zoom 28-112 with OIS as well! Smaller sensor but still awesome Fuji colours and I don't print, if I wanted to I'd use my Fujifilm X-S20.
Love that 22 mm have it on my original Canon M sadly my girlfriend accidentally dropped is and now the aperture blades are flying through the lens housing. To expensive to repair.. a new one would make more sense but not going since I'm rocking a Fuji X100T since 2015. Have a lot more users but still get back to that one when quickly grabbing a camera to take out with the kids/family etc. Think I would also still do that with the M and 22 if it had not been destroyed. Love the images.
If you want a really compact film camera, pick a Rollei 35, the world's smallest 35mm mechanical camera until now. Fits in my front jeans pocket (not skinny, for sure...), has Zeiss lens and is all manual. Great quality on a small package. I have three :)
I have gone similar route trying LX100, Coolpix A, Fuji XF10 but finally ended up with a new Ricoh GRIIIx. Some of these system cameras which are bit older (Canon M, M43) finally adds up when you add price of lens etc. and the price to value for the performance sometimes does not make sense. I have bigger cameras but for a daily carry I realized I better just look for good deal on Ricoh.
M series here and m50 I ls mines...my m50 is my edc never leavew my side ...tanks for this vid Allie....🎉🎉❤ much lovw..also u need to get some picture profiles
@ I zoomed in on the LX3 when it first came out but your review pushed me over the edge. 😏 sometimes it’s just a remark like Alex Majoli’s “the file is fine”. Beyond that it’s a lot of work. 😊
What about a Sony RX1 or R1R? Reasonable price nowadays ans besides the relatively slow autofocus an absolut beast in IQ an FF. I have one too, with the external EVF. Such a nice combo. Kind regards from Germany. Alex Ps: Next one will be probably a M6 😊
You are so much driving my GAS problem...been looking at an update from my GX7 and EPL-6...but simply can't justify it at German prices as a retiree. Maybe I can find one when I am back in Japan...
I'me such a fan of EVF, and most of the time the optional EVF attachment can equal the cost of the used camera. So that would impact final cost for me. Love it was a Canon, was afraid it was going to be a Leica, hah.
Absolutely right about the EVF. I got mine packaged with the body but it takes patience and hunting to find that at a good price. That's where the M50 becomes the more cost effective (but less ergonomic) camera.
@@seanb480 The A6400 is almost certainly a better camera. I had it and loved it. And even though they're almost identically sized, the M6 feels smaller somehow, though not with the EVF. Both great though. And more lenses for E mount for sure. But the A6400 also sells for double the M6.
@@OneMonthTwoCameras good point on the EF-M and the impact of discontinued lens on bodies. Same goes for the Sony A-mount. I have the 16-50/2.8, weather-sealed. Got it for $99!
The abandonment of the M mount cameras helped in my decision to switch from Canon after 50 years. If they had come out with an M5 body with IBIS and had made any sort of attempt at fleshing out a lens lineup, I would be using it to this day. Could have been a contender.
Hey Ali great to see some love for the M series! I still own and love my m100 with too many lenses. For the manual focus, have you tried touching the little magnifier icon on the screen (bottom right)? Cause on my m100 it zooms directly to the last magnification I've used and then you can zoom out just by pressing Set (button or on the screen).
So great to find out which camera this was, been loving your shots on insta with this setup, definitely Leica-tier! 16:34 would be awesome to know what model filter you’ve got on the EF-M22 F2 here. Thank you!
@@OneMonthTwoCameras thanks so much! I have the older EOS M which I've mainly been using with Magic Lantern (very glitchy, finnicky software albeit with some outrageously amazing video options if one shoots manual lol). looking forward to trying both the 22 and 32 at some point, hopefully I might get one for xmas lol
You point out a real dilemma: There is no pocketable MFT or APS-C camera with modern autofocus, IBIS and silent shutter, at least not at an affordable price. I'm now using a Sony a5100 with a Viltrox 28mm/4.5 pancake as my everyday carry camera for pretty much the same reasons as your choice of the M6. This kit is just as compact and has the same focal length as the Ricoh GR IIIx. But like your M6 kit, it doesn't have IBIS and silent shutter, and manual focus assist requires two button presses... (On top of that, it neither has programmable custom modes, nor an optional EVF). - Btw., try the Viltrox pancake if you have a suitable camera. It works great on both FF and APS-C, is as tiny as the 7Artisans 18mm, but it has AF and its image quality is in wholly different league.
Thank you for the recco! I will definitely check it out. And yeah there hasn’t been a manufacturer that has totally cracked it yet. Ricoh may have gotten the closest but I’ll take my M6 for versatility and AF.
Unfortunatley, there never will be. an IBIS system takes up space, it's just physics. The X100VI is the closest you're going to get to pocketable with those features.
This video is not helping my EOS M cravings, never owned one but for all the reasons you've mentioned I feel drawn to them. Also, shout out Chappell Roan
Only sad thing is the lack of 40mm primes. Ricoh newest camera has 40mm equivalent lens but the Canon M only has the 28mm f3.5 which is very slow. I much rather do the Olympus Pen F with the 40mm F1.7, Olympus colours are so good, better than Canon in many cases but colours are subjective so. Olympus newest pen cameras have PDAF if I remember correctly.
Thorough. Is she good for operating one-handed? Do you find the burst mode satisfactory both in terms of quantity and quality of accuracy? Who was that young lady in the Adorama video? She’s a beauty 😅.
I hadn't thought of the one handedness that much. But I think yeah, easy to shoot one handed. Though now I have to see if that's true tomorrow. I don't actually use burst mode either so I'll have to check that out. No idea about the young lady in the Adorama video though :P
As someone who's only modern digital camera for the last 6 years was an m50 until this week (I bought an Xe1 after drooling over it since before buying the m50) the m50 is a good camera but it's not fun to shoot... The controls are very annoying. I like the image quality better than the Xe1 but I enjoy shooting the Xe1 more because of the dials and form factor of the camera
I'm so glad you made a video about this camera-it reminded me why I ended up selling the M6 Mark II. Most of the drawbacks you've pointed out here also apply to the second version. The very loud mechanical shutter-and while the Mark II has a silent mode (unlike the Mark I), it’s oddly limited to automatic mode. You can’t adjust shutter speed or aperture, which is quite frustrating. That said, the image quality, especially with the 32mm f/1.4, is absolutely outstanding. However, I ultimately returned to Micro Four Thirds. The system offers so many lens options, a variety of cameras, and true pocketability. Overall, it’s a far better package from my perspective. Also, I have to mention how much I love the Facebook community led by Emily Lowrey, the Micro Four Nerds group. They’re absolutely fantastic! It’s such a great place to share experiences, learn, and connect with others who are passionate about the MFT system.
What about the older Fuji X-Trans small bodies with EVF? IE, X-T20. Along with the 27mm pancake, it's a compact setup. I have the X-S10, but you wouldn't like the flippy screen.
I bought the M6 last October for the same reason you bought it. I loved it and disliked it for the same reasons you do. At the end the camera wasn't for me and I sold it. Give it a 6 month test drive and I didn't jive with the camera. The connection wasn't there :-)
I was craving for more Mpx although my current 20 are enough, then when i got 25 from lumix it came with fking 40Mb files and i instantly regretted. But the bigger issue is you need to shoot wide open to render all this resolution because of diffraction, and even then is not guaranteed, don't know the math, you only have larger files but not more details. If you want small camera makes no sense to me to go beyound MFT (especially on a dead system), i'm using an EP7, but no evf, which i don't need often, i prefer the tilt screen
Had this one but sold it. I now have the m100 which is the same processor but a bit more compact. My 19 year old son has now adopted it. He has noticed the quality. Did get the 56 1.4 from sigma. Love that. The 7artisans 35 1.3 is a must have. Another great video of course
The sigma 16mm is beautiful and sharp but its size and fact that the lense size protrudes and creates a shadow with the pop up Flash on my Sony A6500 is an issue for sure. The small pocketable size is totally a factor
I would go for, Sony NEX-7, Sony A6000 or Sony A6400 which all are about the same size and weight as th M6, but the Sony Cameras all have built-in EVF ans there are so many Lenses for the Sony E-mount.
The A6400 is definitely an awesome camera. I had it and really enjoyed it. Significantly more expensive though, but the A6000 would be on par with something like the M6 pricewise. The A5400 is probably on par size wise if not even a little smaller. But a little less modern technology. Everything is a compromise, but lots and lots of choices to be had.
@@OneMonthTwoCameras I must admit that there are no "compact" cameras that I really like for myself, so I will just keep using my Sony A7RIVA and A7RV Cameras.
I was like, googling secondhand prices within minutes. I shoot Canon for work but have been unsure what carry-around to get for a while after selling the GX9. I was in Japan recently looking for good prices on a GRIII but they were really high. Maybe this is an option...
No, I love the size and it is such a great camera but I don't want to spend $1000 on the darn lenses for it. Though I do love being able to use a couple of the L mount Sigma zoom lenses. But nothing gets as small as the 18mm TL which is just silly expensive still.
@@OneMonthTwoCameras Another great video......had the m200 and M6 MKII....both great cameras......but missed built-in evf....had the CL a while back and stupidly parted with it...thinking I should go for full frame camera....just recently, I realized I made a big mistake parting with the CL....so, found a good deal on one in excellent condition. For me these are all still to big I just bought the Ricoh Gr iii and sold my Fuji x-m1 but the new Fuji x-m5 might be your Golden ticket ! Cause it’s only like $800
@@jaretschwab2336 It really depends on the use case. My 5-year-old son is constantly moving closer to and further from the camera, so this setup didn’t work well for me. I switched to Micro Four Thirds, and I’m so happy with it. The Leica 15mm f/1.7 is my favorite lens-it also performs better in low light compared to the f/2.8 lens on the Ricoh. Ultimately, it all comes down to how we plan to use the camera.
I like the look of the X-M5 but I sadly can't live without an EVF. It's part and parcel to the photographic experience for me. I did have the GRIII twice and love the quality of the images but for how I wanted to use it with my kids, the autofocus just wasn't it and snap focus as much as I love it for street didn't work for more of my personal work. I could MAKE it work, but this is just an easier daily carry for me.
One self correction: the M5 also has dual pixel autofocus.
Great video!
The M5 also has a built-in viewfinder, so the hot shoe is not sacrificed when using the finder.
And the M5 is a more solid body ... Soon to be one for my GAS collection.

@ks22187 Oh, do. I'd guess the prices are good nowadays.
@@ks22187 ... Do, they are worth it, and using EF lenses work well on them as well.

I’m glad the prints got to you! But your daughter takes the cake… my kids say the same thing too 😂Maybe one day we can host a printing party!
That would be amazing!!!! Thank you again for the insane prints. I'm framing them today with the girls!
The Chappell Roan reference is next level!
Man she just crushed that room
This video was suggested to me by youtube and I really like your presentation style.
Your photos and the way you edit are amazing!
Yay, I love when the algorithm brings good people into the fold. Welcome and thanks for stopping by!
I agree with OP. Your channel is a breath of fresh air. Thanks for not using moody lo-fi beats.

Great video, and it sounds like a neat camera. Your Instagram teasers had me intrigued. I really enjoy your photos.
Thank you!
Pleasant surprise today seeing my little friend the M6 Mk1 getting some love :)
Although I mainly use mine with the 22MM and adapted EF lenses from my older 5D Mk2, the 32MM F1.4 is still on my wish-list to get...hopefully sometime in the coming year.

With all the crap we have to deal with day to day, we need this 🤣 she’ll get it once she gets older 😅

She’s spitting facts!
Crowdak is a great film simulation too, definitely my favourite
If you want focus peaking on M-bodies then you can try Magic Lantern. It’s mostly for video but the manual focus aids are really good for vintage lenses IMO. It gives you much nicer punch in/xoom focusing and then it adds focus peaking (at least to the OG M). Thanks for the video!
Nice! That original M is sooooo cute!!!
Agreed can’t beat the original M with magic lantern I have 3 bodies all different colours.
Yessss!!! Cant wait to hear how you get on with it!
its sad that fuji prices used to be nothing crazy before the pandemic and now are double
Found one...tempted now 😊
I have the m6 mark ii. The thing i love most is that it has usb c charging and file transfer. One cable to rule them all!
that is truly what has me wanting it in addition to the faster punch to zoom in MF and touch to drag AF.
OMG! I picked up an M6, EVF and 22mm f2 just last month. You’re right. Wonderful camera.
AHHH no way!! So great!
@ Replacing my beloved M5 that met with a sad ending.
@@larryeffler7108 oh dear!
Awesome vid. My main edc is the m200! AF is faster than m6 and it’s so tiny. I paid like $520 for m200 + 15-45mm kit and 22mm lens. Such a good deal.. canon made a mistake ending the ef-m line.
Wow love that! I'll have to check it out.
Thank you Kary!
Oh Sarah thank you for the note! Here for all the ladies and always over the moon to see comments like yours. Thanks for being here!!
I have to say, since I discovered your channel in the beginning of this year you are not good for my camera addiction 😜😅😀
Although I own modern systems like the Nikon Zf, LUMIX S9 and Leica Q3 43, I still have a lot of fun using and testing out other and older cameras. And you were a big influence me getting the LUMIX LX100, Canon 5D Classic (currently also looking at the Nikon D700 😅😃), Fuji XT1 and the Leica M8 - and that’s only digital 😆
And for every camera you were always on point and I enjoy these very much 😊
Your videos are for me personally so refreshing and I really enjoy every single one of them watching.

Congrats on your EDC! I found mine in the OM5.
Killer choice.
A pair of things about lenses:
- Why Canon?
Love the video, and for first time I actually already have this camera. Keep up the good work!!
Amazing! I hope you get out and shoot with it this weekend!
@@OneMonthTwoCameras you and me both, but California weather isn’t agreeing with that
I've been shooting the original M since 2014, love that 22mm lens.
Love that!!
@@OneMonthTwoCameras I shoot quite a few different film cameras also.
Excited for this one.

Uhh I‘ve been thinking about getting the m50 for a while (even talked to you on IG about it, thanks again for helping me out there) and this video reasured me to get either that one or maybe even the m6II (whichever I find for cheaper I guess)☺️thank you soo much I always appreciate your insights and adore your pictures/ videos

awesome video! i went with the m6mk2 3 months ago and i love it for everyday use more than my r6mk2
AMAZING!!!

Thank you Patrick! And yeah, that EF-efm adapter is definitely something to look into.
Great video like always! The 22mm & 32mm are awesome lenses. I also enjoy the 11-22mm when I need to go a wee bit wider.
I’ve definitely had my eye on the 11-22 as well as the 55-200. At which point I basically own all the lenses 😂

What a wonderful video presentation! I have the Mark II version of the camera and I love it 😊
Glad you liked it! I feel like I'll end up with a Mark II eventually :P
Man, this channel is blowing up! ❤
I loved both the Nikon Coolpix A (had two of them, one brand new when it came out, and then a used one from Japan), and the Canon m series. I had the m100, and loved the form factor. Would’ve loved an additional dial, because you could shoot it manual, but a lot of it was through touch screen.
Love that! Yeah, I definitely like having my buttons and dials as well.
Forget the camera I need the Chappell Roan concert 😂😂
Mission critical!
Yes!!!!!!!!
That is a very interesting camera, sadly canon didnt give a 28mm equivalent on the market, so one could have a whole system with 28-35-50mm
Brilliant camera. Also love the Minnox
11:38 your model heritage showing!
A couple of EDC cameras that I have and can recommend are the Lumix ZS100 and the Casio Exilim EX-Z1080.

What about a Sony RX1 or R1R? Reasonable price nowadays ans besides the relatively slow autofocus an absolut beast in IQ an FF. I have one too, with the external EVF. Such a nice combo. Kind regards from Germany. Alex
Ps: Next one will be probably a M6 😊
Dont know if its already being said but the sony a6000 with the 20mm is also a great choice imo. had it, regret selling them

NEVER 😂
You are so much driving my GAS problem...been looking at an update from my GX7 and EPL-6...but simply can't justify it at German prices as a retiree. Maybe I can find one when I am back in Japan...
For me the Olympus Pen F is the winner but unbelievably expensive used.
@@OneMonthTwoCameras ever tried the Sony a6400 (or similar?) This would be a nice comparison to the M6 in size and sensor.
The EOS M5 has a built-in viewfinder with similar size/specs. The M50 I &II also have built-in viewfinders, but they are more pricey.

The abandonment of the M mount cameras helped in my decision to switch from Canon after 50 years. If they had come out with an M5 body with IBIS and had made any sort of attempt at fleshing out a lens lineup, I would be using it to this day. Could have been a contender.
It really could have. They never seem to have really taken it that seriously unfortunately.
Yes that is a great feature! Unfortunately it doesn't work when using the EVF though, which is how I always shoot. Alas....
Oh no, just as I had my hopes on these Canon M cameras as a forgotten affordable setup 😂
So great to find out which camera this was, been loving your shots on insta with this setup, definitely Leica-tier!
16:34 would be awesome to know what model filter you’ve got on the EF-M22 F2 here. Thank you!
I should have mentioned that! I was trying out a circular polarizer, but it wasn't used for any of the shots seen in the video.

Love the comment "don't get why grown ups are so caught up in this!"
hehehe! she's onto something :P
Curious in what situations you would use this as opposed to your M262. Obviously when you need autofocus, but for travel/street?
Also I hate that they just abandoned the lens system for the ef-m mount... And adapting is fine but I'd like more native options
That’s definitely why I angled for the M6. I need my buttons and dials and the M50 didn’t appear to offer that.
So you're the dude!
Better believe it
m50 is great too with 22mm or 7artisans 50 equvalent 1.2 lens.
I'm learning about so many other lenses! Thanks for the hot tip.
Adore Emily as well! Lovely human and the M43 option are truly awesome. Loved my GX85 with the 15mm as well.
@OneMonthTwoCameras The 15mm and the GX850 is my edc setup. And the G9 for more serious stuff.
Thank you for your videos. Love em ❤️
What about the older Fuji X-Trans small bodies with EVF? IE, X-T20. Along with the 27mm pancake, it's a compact setup. I have the X-S10, but you wouldn't like the flippy screen.
The X-T20 is great! But can't match the AF and tracking of the M6 which was probably the most important factor for me in addition to portability.
I bought the M6 last October for the same reason you bought it. I loved it and disliked it for the same reasons you do. At the end the camera wasn't for me and I sold it. Give it a 6 month test drive and I didn't jive with the camera. The connection wasn't there :-)
Cameras come and cameras go. It's nice to know what works best for us and why. I tend to love all cameras, at least for a time :)
11:36 it deserves a black and white version to be printed (Post-produced with the style of Alan Schaller)
❤️
I have an M100 and a 22mm which is the smallest M and I made a positive film picture profile that’s a Ricoh Gr3 killer on a good budget with F2 lens
Ooo the dream!!
I have the same camera and lens. What is your positive film picture profile?
@ I like the crowdak profile I mentioned
would you mind sharing your positive film pf3?
@@JeczmenMan It's linked in the description!
If you want small camera makes no sense to me to go beyound MFT (especially on a dead system), i'm using an EP7, but no evf, which i don't need often, i prefer the tilt screen
sigma dp-anything for me
Did you ever consider an Olympus Pen E-PL5 which would have the same features plus IBIS and a larger lens selection? Just wondering.
I hadn't! But I love me my M43 cameras.
I have a black Pen E-PL5. I think it's a beautiful looking camera.
As an adult so caught up with this...
Haha touché!
Also if you were still looking for a flash, the godox tt350 is nice and light (zoom r2 ttl mini on flashpoint I think?)
Yiiii!!! Thank you for the suggestion! Just got it on a solid Black Friday discount!
@@OneMonthTwoCameras nice, even better! It’s a good little flash, even does hss and can control other godox flashes!
@ 😍😍
Had this one but sold it. I now have the m100 which is the same processor but a bit more compact. My 19 year old son has now adopted it. He has noticed the quality. Did get the 56 1.4 from sigma. Love that. The 7artisans 35 1.3 is a must have. Another great video of course
Ooo I’ll have to try those lenses!
The sigma 16mm is beautiful and sharp but its size and fact that the lense size protrudes and creates a shadow with the pop up Flash on my Sony A6500 is an issue for sure. The small pocketable size is totally a factor
Can you try adapting om or Leica m lenses to it for science? cant find any info on it anywhere
I think there's an Olympus Em5 in one of your drawers somewhere.
👀
@ pretty stellar options :)
Maybe you can like Olympus em10 lineup
That Google search. 😂😂😂
LOL glad you caught that Easter egg
I was like, googling secondhand prices within minutes. I shoot Canon for work but have been unsure what carry-around to get for a while after selling the GX9. I was in Japan recently looking for good prices on a GRIII but they were really high. Maybe this is an option...
I’ve done the Ricoh 3x now and it’s got a great lens but the AF drove me nuts
@@OneMonthTwoCameras That's a fear of mine. And the dust in the lens. I'm at the "paralysis by analysis" stage to be honest.
Ok, but where's the sweatshirt from?
Is your Leica CL too heavy for an EDC?
No, I love the size and it is such a great camera but I don't want to spend $1000 on the darn lenses for it. Though I do love being able to use a couple of the L mount Sigma zoom lenses. But nothing gets as small as the 18mm TL which is just silly expensive still.
@@OneMonthTwoCameras So true!
I sprang for the 18mm tL lens, it's EXCELLENT and very compact, so splurged and got the pretty compact and EXCELLENT 23mm TL.....Very pleased with the results!
For me these are all still to big I just bought the Ricoh Gr iii and sold my Fuji x-m1 but the new Fuji x-m5 might be your Golden ticket ! Cause it’s only like $800
Ricohs AF is sooo slow... 🥱
@ Just use snap focus but I was using a Fuji camera from like 2009 so it’s God speeds for me lol
@@OneMonthTwoCameras May I ask why you didnt go with the Panasonic LX100ii?
