I used to buy my late dad a goodie bag of things he wouldn’t buy for himself at Xmas.He died in 2011 and I still have a tin of spam he never opened in my cupboard.The BBE date was 2016 ! Never eaten spam and don’t think I,ll be opening the can I have 😂
Spam Fritters were served every Wednesday at a factory I worked at. They were battered, deep fried then finished in the oven. The catering tins of Spam were cylinders over a foot long! I'd no ideas such a thing existed. I thought I'd travelled back in time when I started there and saw that week's menu. This was about 2007 and I was one of the chefs. It wasnt our idea, the workers requested it and we sold hundreds of them (2 per portion) over three shifts. They were insanely popular. Having had them so often as a kid in the 1970's I couldn't stand them.
Unfortunately the more popular you get the trolls will ppp up.

It was great growing up in the 70’s , love spam. Potato puffs in the school tuck shop. School dinners.vol au vents and prawn cocktail if entertaining.

Bizzy Lizzy was the little girl who had a flower on her dress and could make so many wishes a day, I used to love this, well loved Watch with Mother in general. you’ve both got me reminiscing now!

I thought the best things from the 70's were prawn cocktails and arctic rolls. And the odd cheese hedgehog thing that seemed to appear at parties, as a kid I remember all sorts of odd stuff ending up on toothpicks. Used to love Blue Peter and Rentaghost....
My meals in senior school were cooked on sight and were lovely. My dinner lady and cook's son married my husband's sister. I also found out that when my parents got married the next couple in were my dinner lady and her lovely husband. Crazy coincidences

Well Sharon & Martin, I made spam, fried eggs and chips last night, was lush. Didn't have fritters, so made my own, egg white and breadcrumbs. Spam decent slices, into egg white, then breadcrumbs twice. Was 1st full meal, I've had since hubby passed in January. Was absolutely stuffed. And yes you could taste the spam. xx

I love frying eggs like you 2,I literally watched a fella on RUclips yesterday cook his eggs as per you do then and this is the clever bit.
When his eggs where done on the bottom he added half a cup of water and placed the lid on for 2 minutes.
Unbelievable eggs cooked to perfection and no bust outs haha 😂

My mum used to do Spam fritters back in the 1940s. That's if we were lucky enough to get a tin of Spam. Nice pair of Bristols Martin. You'll need to borrow one of Sharon's bras if you keep on going full metal jacket.😀

At school in the 70s, we had round spam fritters in batter. We had a round luncheon meat sometimes at home with our tea or perhaps liver sausage. Those were the days! 👀👍

Great video as always. Have you ever done a video on the rubbish in our food, I’m really interested in all your little bits of advice such as the vegetable oil you mentioned. I’ve lots of health issues and it’s nice to hear the truth from someone like yourself who has researched things for years.
I do mention the odd fact but a lot of the facts are clouded on Google and people tend to believe what they see on Google so I don't preach as there is always too many people who only believe what they see in mainstream.

I totally agree about the fritters being quite tastless, I make Spam fritters for scratch for me and my dad once a week, I tried these premade ones a while ago just to compare, they seem to have had a weird oily taste in my opinion, defo sticking to homemade ones

We had dining rooms in our houses back then😂 Well the house I grew up in had a dining room & a pantry in the kitchen. We never had spam though. I never tried it til my ex got some & said it was lovely stuff. I tried it & didn't like it so he grilled some & battered some & I still didn't like it🤢😝 I remember when I was little though going to my friends for dinner I got Findus crispy pancake with chips & beans. I didn't know what the pancake thing was. I tried it & didn't like it so my friend & her brother grabbed it & nearly ended up fighting over it & whilst I tried to stop them before we all got in trouble their dog ate my chips & beans🤣🤣 I was glad my mum had saved me a chicken dinner for when I got back home😂 I don't remember getting spam at school but remember semolina pudding with a blob of jam......I didn't like that either, but don't know anyone who did😂😂 My mum cooked chips in beef dripping or lard but we only had them once a week if that. I remember the name Lizzie dripping but don't remember what it was about, but I remember Champion the Wonder Horse being on on a Saturday morning & the old Jerry Lewis or Shirley Temple films being on in the afternoon on BBC2 I think🤔😁
I can honestly say I’ve never had a spam fritter, and in the 70s I was cooking real chips.. but I do like spam.
