Lol....this reminds me of my late mum, Bless her heart. She used to always make a Birds Trifle at Christmas. She loved a Desert. All synthetic, horrible. But we loved it back in the 70s! It was like she used to cook for the 5,000 at Christmas! Honestly, the amount of food we got through. Think she cooked for a max. of 14 of us, both Christmas & Boxing Day Dinners and Buffet Teas. I remember when I was 15, she cooked a 46lb Turkey that got stuck in our small oven, as the legs contracted during cooking. Her and my dad had to saw the legs off in situ to get it out!!!🤣 Oh how she'd have loved a microwave, let along an air fryer!! I make her sausage rolls (got to have onion mind) every Christmas, paying homage to that lil' ol gel 💜 Back in the day, getting together and stuffing yourself silly with grub was what our S.E London Christmases meant to us. One main present, that's all we needed/wanted. Great memories... oh how we miss all our late parents so much at Christmas 🎅 💔
What a treat this trifle is and what a delight watching you. I've been in a sickbed for over 2 years now - you guys made me laugh so hard this whole thing was squeaking as if some serious business was going on in here. Thank you so much for all the fun you bring into people's lives. All the best to you and your lovely family 🙋🏻♀ Lisa

Nice to see people making a proper trifle. I agree about hunting for the cherry. I also do trifle for Christmas Day. I now use fresh sliced strawberry’s in the jelly, adding crumbled flake on top of the cream.
Margaret always uses trifle sponges as neither of our boy's 43 and 46 ! Like tinned fruit. For many years she used to soak the sponges in sweet sherry, which I hate as it makes the jelly a little bitter. Three years ago, our eldest lad bought us a bottle of Frangelico hazelnut liqueur, which my genius wife used to soak the sponges ( as we were out of Sherry) the flavour was divine ! Talking of low fat trifle, Margaret uses sugar free jelly, disolved with a quarter pint of boiling water, which is made up to the pint, with diet lemomade straight from the fridge (the jelly sets a lot quicker) She finishes the trifle with Elm Lea whipping cream substitute, and tops the trifle off with half a Cadburys flake. ✌❤ Bob.
Well done for doing such a good job. I must admit I clean mine with damp kitchen roll after every use to keep the grime down. Martin your idea of having a removable panel near the element is a brilliant idea 👍
That took me back, we always made Trifle like that at Christmas time, and yes, always poured sherry over the cake in the bottom, one year we were given home made prune wine and I even put that in the bottom, unfortunately one morning before we got up one of our sons was up early and drank a whole tumbler full, when we got up we could see he was drunk, he couldnt go to school like that, he was 5,we phoned the Doctor as we were worried, but he only said " what a waste of the wine", lol. he is 53 now.
I make my trifle exactly the same, and we have it for Christmas too. ( or anytime)I like a crumbled chocolate flaky on top, with a few sprinkles too. I watch for sponge cakes or swiss rolls to keep in the freezer .
Watching back through your older videos, love a Trifle, Sharon i totally agree the Custard is the best bit with cream for me but you also have to do a full metal jacket with it too!
One of your most entertaining videos to date. Absolutely LOVED the advert, and the innuendo's. It would be great to see more parody adverts in more of your clips in the future. They are GREAT FUN, and what a great trifle too.
Triffle has always been a big favourite of ours. Growing up, my dad made it, (mum was hopeless with custard), he used home made maderia cake with tinned peaches, but didn't use jelly. I use jelly now. Xx
I have binge watched your videos the past few days. I couldn’t stop laughing when Martin said he had a sprinkle stuck in he’s throat 😂😂 and the way Sharon looks at him when he eats is so funny!
YUM YUM, to the shops tomorrow to get the ingredients, and i didn't know that whisking the double cream would thicken it up, so thank you Sharon and Martin another Brilliant video
Oh I love trifle Sharon if you don't know what to get Martin for Christmas make him a trifle and put it in a box and wrap it I bet his face is a picture when he sees the trifle. My mum used to put those silver balls on a trifle I've never liked the silver balls the sprinkles are better and my son loves a sponge cake with jam in the middle and white icing and sprinkles on top love fran xxxx
Loved the commercial! The only thing for trifles for me is that the custard stayed smooth, did not go rubbery and that the topping was that artificial topping like in the birds trifles. This looks lovely, oh and sherry trifle, that’s lovely as well! Something I have not seen in years either is rum baba! Marks and Sparks used todo individual ones, fantastic!
You two are totally nuts 🤣🤣 I'm with you on the swiss roll Sharon. Do either of you remember feather sponge from school? It was a plain sponge tray bake with lemon curd and jam in a feather pattern, I've searched and searched for the recipe but can't find mention of it anywhere. I wonder if it was something that was only made in my senior school; and pink custard, I absolutely love pink custard. Love watching you two, god knows what I'll do when I finish binge watching!
You're killing me Butlers, my mum used to make this every Christmas , I do miss it , between this and the macaroni cheese I'm definitely back in the 70's , I think I might stay lol ❤️😋
I got one of those stoves for any potential blackouts in the winter - concerned that it says that they must be used outside - fingers crossed it’ll be fine :-)
Martin With sharon making a superb Trifle like that one you will put shops out of business mate bought one are not in the same class my late mother made her own lovely stuff just saver that moment Phil in stoke
Just wanted to say after watching a few of your videos bought myself a little camping gas hob (we dont have gas in our village so can't offer a price comparison). Hob was £26 + 8 refill canisters (Amazon) - well impressed.
Have you ever made Milky Jelly ? it's got a few names basically per jelly you only use a quarter pint of hot water to dissolve jelly, when it has cooled just before starting to set you take a large can of Carnation milk (or other brands) whisk it thoroughly in a basin to introduce air bubbles and slowly pour it into the cool jelly while whisking the mixture all the air bubbles will increase the volume a bit then put in fridge to set, back when I was a kid (60 yrs ago) we weren't really in a position to have real cream in our fridge so we would chill a can of Tip Top anyone remember that ? and pour it over top
My favourite pudding at school (mouth's already watering). It was never served up as nicely as Sharon's(in fact someone told me it looked as if someone had vomited in my bowl) but it tasted divine.Sadly not something I can have now.

I always decorate my Christmas Trifle with bananas, pineapples and other fruits native to Devonshire. Scrumptious and patriotic.
Gorgeous trifle ! You are a good cook Sharon it looked yummy ! Martin is a lucky man 😊
My mom always sliced the trifle sponges in half and spread jam on them .
Add some sherry to the sponge...then the rest...just absolutely delicious 😋
Well done for doing such a good job. I must admit I clean mine with damp kitchen roll after every use to keep the grime down. Martin your idea of having a removable panel near the element is a brilliant idea 👍
Ha, you made me laugh about the cherry, it’s so true everyone wanted one. I used to use Swiss roll Sharon but now Zi use Madeira cake, it’s lovely

I liked pinching trifle sponges, AND my little brothers Farley’s rusks.☺️

I love trifle, try using a spatula when putting cream/custard on - you don't waste any.

Awwww that looks so yummy :)
haven't giggled so much since Benny Hill
Hello..
When you make the custard. Is it more powder than usual. So its firmer for a trifle?
I use home made sponge, when i make little cakes for my grandson, much better, and cheaper.
my mum topped off with a crushed flake
It's like watching an episode of benny Hill lol.lov it
Very entertaining
Loved the commercial break!
