I'm a Wild World player and JUST got New Horizons. I get so overwhelmed with all the crazy islands from people playing this game for like 4 years. It's nice to see the "normcore" islands with so much storytelling and characters. Thank you!
I hope you love it!!! Wild world was the only other animal crossing game I’d played before this one and even though they’re very different I love them both 🥰 I’ve had this game for several years and have never finished decorating an island. There’s no need to put pressure on yourself! You can play in your own way and at your own pace
As much as I love and am impressed by the crazy islands and their detail, I can’t make them myself because they burn me out. And I find them hard to play in. And visiting them either causes lag or they’re just not easy to navigate. A lot of us who started playing when it came out ended up feeling a bit rubbish from not doing all these popular and heavily detailed islands. I’m glad normcore is coming back. I think we need it
Look at it this way, you still have a long and fun journey of building your island more and more. Unfortunately, while I have a pretty crazy island that I’m really proud of, it leaves me with barely any reason to come back and I’m generally burnt out from the game because of how much I worked to make my dream island reality. Word of advice, don’t try to make the best island as soon as possible, as it’ll make you feel empty not too long after, just enjoy the game. 😄
Watching you do this series has helped me on my own island! I'm pretty much a normcore girly, with a bit of clutter and flowers. I felt truly stuck on decorating, but this challenge has helped so much with inspiration! There's not many island showcases like this, so from the bottom of my heart, thank you!
Maybe unpopular opinion: Normcore islands are the best islands. They are just so relaxing and wholesome and nostalgic. I restarted my island around two weeks ago and wanna do a Normcore island and I am so looking forward to build my island Teacup❤
I didn't even realize normcore was a thing until this video!! I've been playing since release but always focused SO MUCH on decorating and burned myself out once i reached halfway LOL. Until I finally decided to restart completely and 'play the way nintendo intended' and ensure the island stayed completely playable. I found that decorating less made the game funner long-term... it gave me time to actually play
I've been watching the whole videos of this island and visited the island as will , it's amazing and helped me a lot to have some ideas for my island so thank you for playing and sharing with us ❤

this video inspired me to reset my town after not really knowing what to do with it and feeling massive burnout. as a wild world lover™️, i love this idea of normcore sm!! you said it here first, the accessibility is the best part about it. i feel like super elaborate and high concept theme towns are gorgeous and i wanna make one someday but i still wanna be able to fish, catch bugs, dig fossils, shoot down balloons, etc. something i feel was impossible when i had every corner filled to the brim with furniture and hard to get around pathways. i felt like once the nh tutorial was over i was already planning on town layouts.. this is just the easygoing concept i need to re-love animal crossing all over again 🥰 thank you!
Thank you for the normcore representation lol. It’s just fun but also I always feel like I have to decorate things super uniquely and extra, so this makes me feel better about just having fun

My island is not overly decorated. I watch these videos with the elaborate entrances it makes me not want to play. I then started playing like I want to. I was walking through my island yesterday and noticed a white lily on a cliff. Then I noticed more. I went to Isabelle and sure enough I was at 5 stars :)

I am a new player designing my first island, but I’m so freaking overwhelmed. All the other islands I’ve visited through their DA are beautiful but not something I can realistically accomplish. I put in your island’s DA and am currently touring it and it exactly what i’ve been looking for. Also luckily it is basically the same layout as my island(minus the private island) so I am excited to build now! Thank you for making this video!
this is a great series! The best is seeing how you think about items to set out. I only play about an hour a day, usually tired, so it's hard for me to decorate since I don't know the items well or have a plan. This helped me see some says to do simple builds to make it cozy for relaxing play. Thank you!

i found that NOT picking a theme helped. I just picked stuff for areas and blended them in transitional points My main island is a normal-fairy-forest-dreamy-cottage-nature core xD
i adore your island so much!! re; your farm area/modern normcore - i think that fits so well bc i dont know anyone who didn’t have that one build of there’s that felt like it established their style moving forward! i had a factory made out of simple panels and stalls and i am still a working-class-town-core girly 😂

Now my 2020 was very different because I work in a hospital but at the same time, acnh became my escape from the reality and a way to relax and chill. I loved your tour and quite frankly I’m irritated with Isabel regarding the five stars thing. Stupid dropped items. It’s a shame we can’t “place” the fruits outside of the orchard. Oh well, we all know it’s 5 star worthy even if Isabel doesn’t think so. ; ). As many of said, I love your yapping so carry on!

What you said about your accent is pretty funny. I'm French, who has been majoring in English related topics since high school and I've always had an American accent when I speak English. However, our teachers always taught us to lean more towards a British accent, which was usually preferred (without any pressure though, having an American accent was totally okay, we were just encouraged to have a more British sounding accent). That's kind of the reason why I hate my American accent and wish to have a British one, but I just cannot manage to change my accent 😭😭 Keep going btw I really like your videos

I love normcore so much. That’s what I try my island to be but I gave up as there’s no inspiration and this makes me want to continue. My favorite parts on my island were the bridge leading to my museum with a dinosaur in the back on the cliff and then a pottery area.
I have allayed preferred to use in game paths. I may love to use custom paths, however, I prefer to place them on top of the in game pathways, so they will show up on the map,mand our villagers will be more inclined to use them too. Helps if their is a speck of transparency, so that when I curve an in game path, they will appear to curve as well. My current islsnd really only has one custom pathway, not overplayed over an in game path. The area to my campsite is too twisty and turns. I also loved how you handled the diagonal areas. I might do that on a future island.
I'm definitely going with this theme, I can't take the lag and the fact my villagers walk in custom drains on a daily basis. On another note, if you just remove the music player from the music area they'll be more likely use the music stuff. I guess they aren't going to sing the song playing on the jukebox with the mic when they could just sing along with the music itself? I stopped putting them in because I just wanted to hear the villagers singing alone, and I noticed the mic got used more! Unfortunately the same thing happens with Gyroids (like if you put a gyroid in to play a little background music the villagers tend to gather around the gyroid and dance instead of using the music stuff) so you kinda can't give them any backtracks I guess 😭

My issue with decorating my island has always been the perspective. I wish we could have the top down view like with the happy home dlc!
