That Boss amp is the closest actual rating I've ever seen on a Boss (60W X 2).
I was thinking the same thing 😂. But they did name it the "BA 1000" 😅

@@Pittsburgh-412 BOSS was actually a decent brand , once they sold the car audio division it went to crap. however prior to that they made pretty good stuff.
I had a pair of ultimate truck box speakers. 8 inch woofer with piezo tweeters. They sounded awesome.
Yeah... People knock them low priced brands BUT as an installer I have installed entire swap meet systems in many cars. As SPEAKERS go, them PYRAMIDS aint bad in their space... Sound good. NOT WORLD CLASS... but in yer noisey rattley beater car... CHEEP for the PEEPS!!!! LOL. BDBD/2024
Thanks for the memory lane trip - I had forgotten them, but I had a set of those Ultimate Splits back around 1995 in Australia!
Ran them with 2x12" 8Ohm Earthquake subs in a massive dual bandpass box and an Alpine V12 4x40RMS amp.
I've had several of the BP series amps, including a couple of the 150.1. They're underrated and sound decent.
The 300.1 would flex my skar evl and American bass subs like it was nothing
These flashbacks of old amps is pretty cool and knowing what them old amps actually did is interesting to see

I had those Volcano 5 1/4's back in the day. Great speaker for back then.
Old school Alpines were my go-to mids and highs amp, coupled with Rockford for the bass.
Legends of Car Audio, Awesome . I used to love looking at all his stuff for sale on Ebay. I Bought Hollywood speakers from him a couple times. Was hoping maybe his box of goodies would have some Hollywood. Oh well. It would be interesting to see what you think of sound quality on the volcanos and the pyramids. , great to see this stuff. Thanks for all the videos.
I've had more Alpine 35xx series amps than probably any other brand. And I was a HUGE fan of the 3522's, because they were dirt cheap and SUPER clean. For $150 brand new, I can't think of a better low buck amp from back then.

Very cool Derek... this takes me back to my high school days!! Never heard of Power House, but majestic and ultimate are affordable brands I do remember. Those old basic alarm systems (IIRC), you just hook up a wire to the door and trunk sensor switch. I think some of them may have tilt sensors too. So the alarm sounds when doors / trunk is opened, or the car is jacked up. That was kind of a status symbol back then. Get back to your car and press the remote button to chirp the alarm before you got in. My friends and I would use our heads as an antenna to boost the range of the remote. Just press the transmitter end up against your chin, and hear your car chirp off in the distance. You could also use it to find your car in a crowded parking lot... hahaha!!! Pretty sure there was a Car audio & electronics issue where they compared hifonics pluto and that alpine amp, along with some others too. Those both are some great SQ / competition amps. Richard clark and I think Harry Kimura used alpine amps (the big one) back in IASCA days.
I think JC Whitney sold those Majestic alarms... dont quote me on that though, this was a LONG time ago... hahaha
@big D When you dyno the JBL amp use y splitters and hook up all 4 rca inputs! I Ran those amps back in the day they seam to put out way more power with all 4 rca’s hooked up .
Two are input, and two are output. Why would you run an input signal, through an output section?

I haven't seen Ultimate gear in years. Use to have a 8 sub with the blue ultimate dustcap in a bandpass box. back in like 2001
I still have an Ultimate 3 way full range hatchback box with 2 12” woofers that takes up the backseat in my 89 Firebird. It’s still powered by a Sherwood SCP1002 amp bridged to 2 channels.
It'd be cool to see Coustic and Crossfire amps!!!

Now that is a old school haul. The 5.25's and the Earthquake are some pieces I would enjoy owning.

Man BigD, I have totally forgotten all about PowerHouse by Earthquake. I was an avid user of Earthquake and have sought after their din sized 3 way crossover for decades since selling mine.
Those Volcano BR5's are a real smooth-sounding low-power mid - named that way for the Butyl Rubber surround. I ran 4 of them for a while, along with a lot of other Volcano gear over the years (made by Stanford Acoustics in Danville KY). Volcano "cast" speakers came with a lifetime warranty, which sadly wound up meaning the lifetime of the company - their cast subs and mids were excellent and used shared components with Electrovoice in many cases - bringing that "pro-sound" efficiency and power handling into the car market.
The pc-15 tweeter was ev. Nothing else in the line was to my knowledge. I have access to many br8 8inch drivers if anyone wants any..please contact me..
@@davidstevens7809 The cast frame subs (except for the 18's) used the same baskets/sometimes magnets and shared some soft part components, they weren't re-branded EV like the softdomes though. PC-15 are killer, I have a couple dozen.

I have a couple pair..theyre badged ODKD when G&S designs sold them.. red lines.
I had either that alarm device or one exactly like it in about 1994. At first it seemed ok. Then later it began going off randomly even while driving.

I remember volcano.. I know earthquake made annihilator.. but power house.. my first bass amp was a majestic sw9500 returned
Used to smoke old Kraco and sparkpmatic radios used to buy 3 or 4 flea Market radios at georgetown flea market old 3 shafts with the pyramid or Tenna Phase 3 eq booster with realistic book shelf speakets and put in my bedroom , i was 14 always a budget banger always had the majestic eq amps 4 to 6. 6 x9s every build 8" majestic subs 😆
One day saw the mtx Terminator 12 box with the tweeters and mids put it in my hatch of 88 1/2 escort GT with my 6 x9 s and 1 Sony eq amp and 1 majestic eq amp pioneer KE A330 loved the 70 s and 80 s no cell phones you could disappear for hours

I had a two-channel Majestic MA730 amp. About 50x2. It was nice. Until it when fuzzy. Cheap amp.
I used to have some of those pyramids in my 78 cutlass but they were the 6x9 models. That was around 94 I think they were around 20$ 😂

I sent you a message about a boss BA6000 from the late 90's that I have, but you didn't want to Dyno it.😢 I had a BA4000 back in the day, and it crushed 2 Boston Acoustic 12's. I wired it up some goofy way at 2ohms. Somehow it worked.
I have a Majestic 2/3way active crossover. Couldn’t find anything on it online.
I found an old complete NOS in the box Lightning Audio component set at the pawn shop. They only had $20 bucks on it so i grabbed it. They’re only 5-1/4” so I’m no sure what to do with em yet.
Could you test the (DS18 SDX-P200) head unit next.

As far as modern day subs go I see Fosgate and JL are still around. Are they any good today? Im looking at dvc.
JL is $ more so today IMO RF is not like they used to be but i hate recommending used subs but you can find the DVC Punch HX2 they are beasts for the $ if you dont mind 1000$+/sub the JLW7 or JLW13 is another option on the cheaper side the RF p3 is under 350$

Yeah JBL for a while was really into car audio... speakers and amps. I don't think they ever made a bad product. I had JBL T06 titanium tweeters... loved those things with stillwater - kicker drivers and subs.
