I have had customers come into my dealership with the fuel "device" installed as well as ones for the intake and vacuum lines. What they "do" is align the particles in the air and gas into a straight line to help them flow better into the engine.
One car in particular had 4 of them on the intake and 3 on the fuel line. And as you guys proved we laughed our asses off at them for it.

This gives me the same feeling as a teacher pairing the two goofiest kids in class and telling them they have full creative freedom on their class project

The anti-static strap is a real item. By creating an alternate path for the static electric to go, it keeps you from a shock. Use to sell them when I worked at NAPA. It's not as big an issues today. Most OTR Trucks used them when transporting flammable liquids.
"There is a nice woman selling flowers at the next intersection!" "If you need one!" Need what? A Nice Woman or flowers? I'd take both to be fair.

I work in a chemical factory, the first “mod” is used on all our fork lifts, to ground them out so they can’t create sparks and ignite a fire from the chemical fumes. No idea why you need one on a car tho...
Mainly for kids who get back in their car while pumping gas. Since they can sometimes just hop out without touching the metal of their vehicle, the static could spark on the nozzle and cause an explosion.
Have you never been shocked with static electric shock?
Some cars will shock you in random metal spots. Like seatbelts. My truck doesn't suffer from this, but if it did, I'd definitely buy this.
in spain theres a lot of cars with similar belts. i think its for preventing the static electricity that the air friction can generate on some cars

I can def see that happening to Nolan tho
Holy shit yes
Those straps have been around for a long time (since the 50's at least). And they're meant for large vehicles towing trailers for hours on end (thus building up static electricity). Used to have one on my F100 in the 90's because i was tired of getting shocked every damn time i pulled over to get gas.
I know hydro and pipeline trucks have them so their vehicles are grounded with all their extra electrical equipment onboard
City buses have them. Look underneath and you'll see the tail dragging on the ground. :) Does the concept work? Yes. Is this a quality product that won't wear down to nothing in one mile? I have no clue. Probably better off with a piece of thick copper grounding strap, a bismuth fishing line sinker, and a hose clamp. JB weld the sinker to the strap an inch or 2 from the end, and hose clamp the other end to a metal chassis point like the exhaust in the center of the car so nobody sees it. Done. 👌 Probably cheaper and more effective.
@@mannys9130 yeah i’ve seen those and wondered what they were dragging. good to know what it’s for
When I was a kid, in my country, 90% of the cars had them. Now they don't anymore, no idea why they disappeared.
On farm equipment they always have chains dragging on the ground in the field, although I think they take them off for the road.
Forreal though, this collab is freaking heaven to someone like me. Cars are 50% of my life, and gus and his type of humor AND DONUTS HUMOR are the other 50%

ok, back in the 70's and 80's, I remember many cars had a grounding straps dragging along the ground...like nearly all cars had them. not sure if they were OEM or aftermarket at the time. Love these reviews!
This was a lot of fun. Awesome to see my favorite dudes on the tube hanging out together
That grounding strap was a thing in the 70's, at least in Sweden. The gas stations sold them and you saw them on a lot of cars. Never saw one screwed to the exhaust though, as they usually were screwed to the chassis somewhere around the rear axle. I remember asking about them and being told they prevented the car from acquiring a static charge so you didn't get that zap when you touch the car that you sometimes get in the summer when the air is really dry. I can't really say when people stopped using them but I think it was about the late 70's or early 80's.
big in the 80s/90s here in NZ
thanks for the info
@Mr Polish when you get off the car and touch the door or smth metal there's a chance you get shocked by the static
@Mr Polish well it's pretty common just drive around
@Mr Polish What? You have never touched a car then?! I've been zapped by cars a million times.
When you walk in the wrong class and just stay.

My car gives me a static shock about half of the times I'm getting out, and I was thinking about searching for a ground strap (wich is the technical term) and I'm glad to see you can still get them! Would really love to get it 😂
I remember ground straps to be quite frequently occurring on cars till late 90's in The Netherlands. Mounted between the rear axle and rear bumper/fender, not around the tailpipe 🙈 As a kid (around 6yo) I used to think it was for electric cars, the same way bumper cars take electricity from the ceiling. My dad told me it was to prevent static shocks after I asked him if my assumption was correct 😂
Love your colabs with gub
Those grounding straps are meant for vehicles in industrial settings. In large factories they have a lot of steel gocart/truck type vehicles and all machinery is required to be grounded. They're not meant for commercial use.
I highly doubt a company is going to buy all of what they need from eBay when it could be bought in bulk for a lot less
Plus with a hint of salt, they're probably useless (the commercial ones) due to them obviously not touching the ground most of the time and tires serving as a better grounding wire, again, with a grain of salt.
Yeahhhhh that little grounding wire on that thing isn't enough.
The factory I work at, every forklift has them, but they are just a decently thick wire that touches from usually the middle of the lift...
Had one actually get caught on the ground some where and jolt the driver enough that they had an injury from it 😬
Or so they claimed
Straps nor tires work as grounding devices. The vehicle itself acts as a Faraday cage. The steel is close enuff to ground that electricty basically goes around n down.
I agree Companies probably don't buy from eBay, I agree its kinda dumb. Yea yea tires. Im just telling everyone where the idea came from.
I had a static strap on my old gmc sonoma, can confirm that for some older cars, they do pick up static electricity and the strap actually helped a lot. Most common "conversation" it got me was people always telling me "hey just wanted to let you know something is dragging from your truck"
The collaboration i didnt know i needed. And that dip holder looks perfect i have always wanted my car to be tarter sauce scented
Gus and James, one of the most Iconic duos yet
When I was a kid i remember
that a lot of old cars had these antistatic straps. 90s in middle east europe.
Thank you. I thought I was going crazy thinking that this was a thing when I was a kid in 90s
1 in 10 or so of all cars had those antistatic straps when I was a kid in Northern Europe in the 70s and early 80s. Unlike the ones on forklifts etc. they didn't wear down as fast as you'd think, as they barely touched the ground when the car was at speed, getting lifted by headwind, to then drop to the ground and hopefully discharge any static on the chassis once you stopped. I do remember them being like a rubberized thinner version of a battery ground strap though, not just a pair of twisted wires. And it was mostly the squares and granddads who mounted them to their Opel Kadett's, Ford Escorts etc. to not get zapped by static while getting in or out, not for any sort of "coolness", but just purely for comfort reasons. Was the days of polyester clothes and anything else fabric, so there was plenty of opportunity, believe me. Did they work? No clue what so ever. On one hand bone dry tarmac doesn't conduct much, on the other hand humid or wet weather keeps down static quite well as is. But you sure saw a lot of them.
It was pretty common here in Australia back in the 90s too!
I love that Twins jersey. He shouts out 3M too. Wisconsin born, Minnesota loved.
He’s a bro. Dude in Cali wearing a MN Twins jersey
The saucemoto dip clip makes a great gift. I've bought them for friends who drive a LOT and they absolutely love them
Awesome collab between some truly funny people. Right on guys!
"are you on fire? Then it works." LMAO
This is the crossover we didn't know we wanted and needed. Long live James Johnson!
The duo I NEVER asked for, but my god am I so glad to see you guys in the same room together
6:25 clamps onto the pressure line going to the fuel rail, restricts fuel flow. 100% works for fuel saving.
well serviced car good oil so healthy engine with correctly pressured tires prob do more. this device prob end up doing more bad than good. remove unnecessary thing from car too some carry many of kg around that save more fuel than this device, drive better plan ahead try to get to lights when changing back to green so red light head do not rush to red and stop slow early try and keep moving that doing far better than this device, drive a manual esp if you have smaller engine. so many ways to save fuel without buying something what long term may do harm worst case damage fuel line or very worst fire
Played the video and was like, "Damn this guy looks just like Gus"
Same I saw the thumbnail and I was like hmmm he looks like Gus

I love this show! I literally can’t stop watching this show and idk if that’s a problem or not😅😂. Donut media is just that one show that never stops being good!
we used to run similar products on our farm equipment, we even have used lengths of cable or chain, it works extremely good to reduce static charges and prevents dust build up.

Let’s goooo, Donut and Gus collab!!! So happy
gussss yes i love this man do more with him
This is the best Collab I never knew I wanted.
Amazing stuff
This is the strangest yet best collab I’ve seen in a while.
The first item (vehicle anti static strap) is for use one welding trucks or electric vehicles because they can build up a large static charge and it allows it to go to ground, you see them on a lot of vehicles in industrial areas.
fun fact about the earth belt: the belt was pretty common in the 1970s in West Germany, because there they were actually (unironically) used to ground cars so the people wouldnt get a shock. Another fun fact: in east Germany those were unessecary because the cars were made out of plastic :)
I actually busted out laughing at work because of the Prince Harry sticker.
2:33 that is the point, it is like a candle, the rubber protects a very fast waste of the copper wire. Apparently it really prevents the static shock you get in some cars
Do you write Amazon product titles?
@@Aperson156 no, but ive felt the shock when leaving a car and it makes sense 😂😂
These earth belt stuff were very common in the 90's 2000's here in france. We still see them but not as much. True they wear out when you drive slow but above 15mph they stay in the air and fall back down when you park to prevent the annoying sparking as you close the doors.
I have heard of the magnet you put on the fuel line. I remember about 30 years ago they said it makes the molecules in the fuel line up as they pass and you get more power. There was an ad for it In the newspaper way back then.
The grounding strap is a thing on forklifts, ambulances also use chains to ground itself :)
Seen them on school buses too but never knew why, assumed it was for mud or something
Im here for James reading the products names 😂
What in the world!! Gus and James, nice combo there guys
i absolutely love the mk3 body style. it’s so clean
Ground straps were very common in Greece during the 70's /80's. Prevents buildup of static electricity. Climate (mostly humidity) dictates the use of it. It was very common in taxis with a lot of people coming in/out accumulating static electricity
I knew some people who did work on natural gas pipelines and their vehicles were required to have ground straps on them. You see a lot of them in natural gas country.
Mechanics also wear ground straps when they are working on electrical components in a car.
Finally the collab we’ve been waiting for
I never thought there was going to be a crossover between the two greatest channels!!!
I love when 2 youtubers I love and follow collab because I'm like holy shit they know each other that's awesome.

The crossover I never knew I needed. This was beautiful! Gus is a legend!
4:42 I just saw that propeller diffusor on Amazon the other day! I was looking for mint air fresheners to help keep spiders out of my car that stays parked most of the time. I saw something cooler that looks like a gyroscope or something with a marble that has the Solar System etched in it. I didn't get it because it's way too expensive.
YOOOOOO I literally didn't even notice until right before the intro rolled. Love Gus, donut, HOW COOL!
Gus appearance remind me of one of Donut's lost program. You guys still remember what is that? 🤔
11:48 Seeing Zack again was exciting and don't know why🤣
This duo just made my day
I live for episodes like this. *chefs kiss
Imagine if the sauce holder just broke and you have sauce all over your dash and your lap
You know what else is rubber and connects your car to the ground?
Hint: there's four of them, one on each corner.
Lemme guess. Is it Tires?
Is it the condoms that I’ve attached to your car doors? Here’s a little hint: I’m just getting started 😂
The earth ground is a real thing to ground a car or truck some 18 wheelers and welding trucks we use in the oilfield have them installed to prevent explosions and flash fires due to static electricity.
I love this collaboration
