      Interesting. I originally had a vintage Bremen RCM in my car and it sounded....'vintage' if that makes sense. I replaced it with this Frankfurt and its night and day. The amount of modern electronics that are in the new retro Blaupunkts really do clean up the sound.

    Imho, it is not the same as the Bremen. They improved quite a bit. The wobbly volume button, wobbly cassette lid, bluetooth 5 instead of 2, a dedicated bluetooth button, and also you can close the cassette lid, with a stubby usb stick in it.

    Great to see the actual fit in an E36 because it’s about time I stop using the speakerphone on my iPhone while it rattles around in the cupholder. 😂. Everything looks flush and clean and the colors are spot on - a few questions, though. 1) just directly clip the thing in, no splicing? And the stock amp of an E36 M3 with the HK system wouldn’t be an issue? 2) I really, reeeeally wish you had made a phone call to a buddy using the mic built into the face to hear the clarity on both ends, then done so again with the aux mic. I’m sure dual mics must work, right? For a clearer, stereo effect?, and finally 3) Is there a Siri Voice Control ‘prompt’ button on the face for commands or would I need to use the phone or ‘eyes free’ to get into any shenanigans? Are the button reprogrammable? That could work too! Thanks
    first the review!

    Hello! Based on your reviews of these radios, I bought one for my BMW, and it sounds great. But I'm having a real problem with the BASS and TREBLE controls. When I click either one, it starts out at like +85, and the "down" button works to lower it, but the "Up" button does nothing at all. The D/U buttons work perfectly fine for Balance and Fader, but Bass/Treble are really messed up! Can you please let me know how far +/- the Bass and Treble are supposed to go (like +/-10??) because mine definitely is not working like that. thanks.

      Some of those Mercedes used a fiber optic cable to connect the head to the amp - I don't know if yours did (and if it did you can get an adapter but its extra work) I don't know if yours does but do check before you buy

      @@faultlessfrank Thanks, Frank. AFAIK, the fiberoptic cable only connects to the CD carosel, although it probably warrants a closer inspection
      A few years back, I shipped the head to a company that retrofit a Bluetooth receiver into the cassette circuit. It only required a blank cassette to be maintained in the drive. It worked great for a while, but now there appears to be an issue because it regularly ejects any tape which is inserted. I really don't want to spend another few hundred bucks on a repair, and am probably more inclined to replace the unit with a "period correct" unit like the Frankfurt. But I will check for the amp in the boot first

    • @throwback19841
      @throwback19841 Год назад +1

      you need to go to a site like incartech and get a plug and play ISO adapter for your car's harness. Its not really on the head unit manufacturer to do that plug and play - they support ISO, thats kinda standard, also metra do harness adapters for just about every car and then you can solder the iso connector onto that. I agree with you on not cutting anything on the car - lazy hifi installers do that cos its faster and lets the customer do everything in one visit. Thus why i do all hifi installs myself. Takes extra time to properly wrap the harness, solder it on a bench, make sure there's no pinch points, get fitment *just right*, etc etc. I save my money for mechanics to do big jobs I dont have facilities for myself. i.e. head gaskets, anything needing a crank puller, AC regas, etc etc.

They're the cheap Chinese clicky quality and that makes the radio feel incredibly cheap and fragile. Apart from that the Bluetooth doesn't work very well with newer phones. I really hope they've improved these points on the new version, but I don't have high hopes.
