    I hope you guys enjoy this little tutorial on how to crochet these froggy earmuffs I've seen on yesstyle and other asian fashion websites. I also want to note that the yarn used in this tutorial is recycled which is why I don't have the exact size/weight of the yarn.

    *FAQs:*
    Written pattern- docs.google.com/document/u/1/d/1sXMrTyjFbYD3bpHsSCXd6-eA4ZiBCRgfuj2m9CiSHc4/mobilebasic
    *What yarn did I use?- unsure of brand. Most likely a medium (3-4)weight yarn
    *How much yarn did I use?- I'm unsure because I got this second hand. However it will more than likely take less than half a regular size skein of yarn or 50-100g
    *What size is my hook?- US I-9 (5.5mm)
    *Can other materials be used for the eyes?- Yes, you can use thread to sew the eyes or felt materials work too instead
    *How big is it?- 5.5in in width and 29 in including straps. The main headband is about 18in without straps
    *FPDC and BPDC tutorial- ruclips.net/video/S42_486HrEU/видео.html

      @@nicolepereira6424 watched this entire video and then tried to make it following the instructions, but just measuring it by eye to fit my cats head. I didn’t make ear holes because I don’t know how. I remade it like 4 times because it kept coming out too big after adding that boarder around the whole thing. I did like 5 rows where I added an extra chain at the end. The base of the shape needs to be small be cause I did 2 rows for the border and that made it a lot bigger. Then I just eyeballed the eyes so it would fit the size of the hat. I hope this makes sense. It’s been a while since I made it and I don’t know the language of crocheting, I just follow what the people do but I always forget the vocabulary. It came out really cute. I added a button, then I made one for myself so we could match 🥺

    thank u so much for the tutorial, i have a question and i don't if it's stupid tho. If want it to make it bigger, can i make 10 chains to start and make the same process? Idk if a explain mself well.

    • @RauniPaigeO
      @RauniPaigeO  3 года назад +5

      Yeah, you can add more chains to depending on if you want it to be longer or wider. If you want it to be wider, your beginning/foundation chain will be longer. I'd suggest adding an even number to keep it consistent. If you want the headband to be longer, you'll just crochet more rows between the increase and decrease on either end. I hope this helps😊

    if you chain 5 at the very beginning wouldn't that be 4 hdc in the first round instead of 3? idk what im missing ;-;

    • @samosatheena
      @samosatheena 3 года назад

      struggling with THE SAME THING. what did you end up doing?

    • @RauniPaigeO
      @RauniPaigeO  3 года назад +1

      To get 3 stitches in the first row you have to do your first hdc into the second loop from the hook. Then you'll only have two chain spaces left to work hdcs into.
      You could also do this by putting your first hdc into the third stitch from the hook, so the first 'hdc' in the row is actually the other two chains.
      Sorry this is difficult to explain in a comment but I hope it helps a little.

    • @nangw12
      @nangw12 2 года назад +1

      @@RauniPaigeO you don't explain that part well and in the increase and decrese too. If you chain 5, and make a hdc in the secong loop(thats sking 1 chain) youll get 4 hdc not 3. And in the drecreasing rows 39-42 you said the same thing to do a hdc in the second loop at the begining and at the end too, by the 42 row you dont get 3 hdc, it doesnt add up to the instruccions, I had to skip 2 hdc( so do a hdc in the third space) in the begining and in the end to get 3 hdc in the 4 rows of decreasing. And it didnt look like the increasing end because you made 4 rows instead of 6, so instead of 39-42 of decreasing is 39-44 rows. Sorry if it comes off rude or confusing, but I saw people(and myself) stuggling in the comments, and I just wanted to point out the error, it turned out good for you because you were doing it how its supposed to, but the wording and instuccions are wrong.

      @ediko. 3 года назад +3

      @@fynn2614 to make the main body I think they half double crochet, and then they go around double crocheting, one stitch(?) from behind the work, one from the front(you don't have to turn your work around). Then personally, I didn't follow her steps for the next part, I kind of improvised.

      That's okay. I did two HDC into the first and last stitch of each row to increase the width. All the stitches in between just have one HDC.
      The rows should sort of look like this:
      2 1 1 1 2
      2 1 1 1 1 1 2
      And so on. I hope this clarified that part a bit more.

    The math for the decreases in the written pattern make no sense, it says to decrease from row 39-42 and you’ll somehow get from 15 stitches to 3 in 4 rows, but the increases happen over 6 rows, so in order for the sides to match you’d have to do 6 rows of decreases. I had to redo that part a few times before I ended up just doing 6 rows of decreases because I thought maybe I did something wrong. Just a heads up for anyone who plans to make this

    Hi, is the outer border 2 or 3 rows? In the written pattern it's 2 rows but in the video you mentioned both FP & BP DC

    • @RauniPaigeO
      @RauniPaigeO  2 года назад +1

      Yeah, the border is worked in two rows. The FP and BP DC are alternating within the same row to give it the unique texture. The first row (or odd numbers) will always be plain DC. Whereas the second (or even number rows) will have the alternating stitches. I hope that clarifies what I mean🤗

    Why not do an invisible decrease? would it basically be the same? Or would it not decrease enough?

    im so sorry if this is rude because i know the yarn is recycled but if you can estimate, how much yarn do you think i need in grams? 🥺 I'm just scared to buy too much or not enough yarn, thank you!!

    • @RauniPaigeO
      @RauniPaigeO  3 года назад +1

      Probably no more than 100g depending on how large you want it to be. If you wanted to make a hat you'd probably need 100g or more. Does that help a bit? Also thanks for checking out my video💗

    The part where I increased it looks more like a triangle and where I decreased it it looks like a circle and it’s much shorter :((

      Do 6 rows of decreases instead of 4 to mirror the increases from the beginning and it’ll look the same ! I had the same issue

      Yeah, sorry, I bought this yarn second hand so I don't know how much there was exactly. However, I was able to make two of these with about one skein of medium yarn. Hopefully that's a bit helpful. Sorry I can't be more specific 😗

      Emma P's Crochet 101 looks like a really good one. It goes over everything including how to hold the yarn when your first getting started. It might also help to do some practice projects before jumping into my video. I wish you the best of luck and feel free to ask more questions if you get stuck🤗
