    - Zeff’s outfit in this episode is based on the the one he was wearing in the flashback & his peg leg was broken by Kroobi but in the manga it was actually Gin
    - I also found this interesting coincidence with that young Sanji is played by Christian Conrvery who plays Gus (a human deer hybrid) from Netflix’s “Sweet Tooth” with the fact that in the anime young Sanji is voiced by Ikue Otani (Chopper’s va)

      I can't help but think that there's a bit of inspiration in the casting when they saw a kid playing a deer-human hybrid, saw that connection and they thought ".... yeah, let's go with that". Either that or it's just a crazy coincidence.

    The Two Slope Hills could be a reference to Syrup Village with the hill the Black Cat pirates landed at and the one the Straw Hats mistakenly defended

    fun fact! the fish skin healing properties were discovered by the Universidade Federal do Ceará in the North of Brazil! we in Brazil were very happy to see that in One Piece as we joke its a Brazilian reference (its not, its now a well known fact but were proud we discovered it)

    I really liked the use of garp in the live action and when you realize his thinking in ep 8 everything he was doing since the beginning makes alot of sense and i think people who had problems with garp should re examine there feelings when everything is cleared up by the end of the season

  • @Torazuki
    @Torazuki Год назад +20

    I think, if you view Garp from the lens of a teacher handing out tests, he becomes a little easier to understand in this adaptation. I dont think he's hiding anything, necessarily, but I think the scene where Koby tells Garp that Luffy is a pirate and "isnt that okay?" Followed by the later announcement shows us more that Garp is teaching Koby a lesson.
    "Okay. You've decided to accept that Luffy is a pirate. Your next lesson is: This is what we do with pirates. Got it?"
    Even though he has his own, personal intentions, hes still training his new protoge who has a lot to learn about politics.

    (Spoilers for whole cake island arc)The story about Noland the liar is from north blue, which also happen to be where sanji is from, so it could be a nod to that

    • @Compucles
      @Compucles Год назад

      Sanji admitted he was from the North Blue way back in the Skypeia Arc, but yeah, I assumed Nami had simply borrowed the book from Sanji. The only issue is how Sanji got a copy out in the East Blue after having lost everything in the shipwreck.

    I was caught off guard with how touching this episode was with Seff saving the young boy and how he did it and then at the ending saying goodbye. Great story telling hits all the emotions.

    I'm a bit curious about your next plan after the live action breakdowns.... Are you going to make one piece theory content or some video essays? Or something completely different?

    Both Chapters 29 & 35 of One Piece include slopes, and Chapter 35 of the Viz translation is titled "The Steep Slope." I also think the the Live Action adaptation did something clever with the Syrup Village Arc and the Baratie Arc. In the Syrup Village Arc, Zoro was stuck in a well rather than going up a slippery slope. Baratie Arc did the something similar and included a bottle of alcohol reading Two Slope Hills.

    I wonder if the girl's design on the left at 6:56 could be based on Mousse, Kalgara's daughter. They look very similiar.
    And thanks again for your another breakdown, looking forward to last two.

    Thank you so much for these breakdowns! You’re obviously super knowledgeable with One Piece, but what I love most is the great care you take not to spoil new fans of One Piece of events yet to come on the live action. I watched the live action adaptation after hearing so much positive press about it and I fell in love with One Piece; I just started watching the anime so I appreciate that you are thorough with your breakdowns but you still manage to keep future exciting story beats unspoiled. Great videos, great channel, you’ve got a new subscriber!😊

    Yes! Early!
    I never noticed the heart in the P! Oh Sanji!
    I like to think the onigiri is a jab at 4Kids who did terrible dubs. 4Kids often tried to censor Japanese culture where as here, they've embraced it.

    • @Mike_Ka-Chowski
      @Mike_Ka-Chowski Год назад +2

      Nah, they're a reference to the girl in Shell's Town and his move "Onigiri"
      Which means riceball but also Oni is demon (his nickname) and Giri (cutter/ to cut)
      If it were 4Kids, it'd have been a jellyfilled donut. Nothing beats a jellyfilled donut

    I thought this episode set up that part for namis background of her being mean to the village so they hate her and them being rude to her so she hates them well. Bummed that part didnt make it to the live action. Since the touching part of her almost ready to leave behind her village to go with the crew, (like the village wanted her to in the manga) but throwing it away to save them in the moment woulda been a lil more impactful in the retrospect of the next episode.
