Yeah. Great episode. When I lived in Japan, I actually ate at the Baratie restaurant. I can't remember what I ordered for my entrée, but I got a Blackbeard Cherry Pie for dessert. At the restaurant, Zeff even showed up and had a little show with all of the staff. Really cool!
This is hands down the best breakdown series of Live Action One Piece. So damn clear it wasn't just googled and regurgitated. This is a true fans work ❤
17:28 MAYBE (but it may be a coincidence) you skipped a little hint, in this part: In the manga, Zoro just put the hand on his forehead, when he cries, but in the live action he covers his eye. It may be a nod of his future appearance, where he miss an eye.
can you release a final spoilery episode after 8 for those that are far into the anime series? honestly, I'm curious what there is that you can't cover.
Awesome job! Thanks again for your time and talent in doing these great breakdowns. Pointing out all the artwork really helped me understand the scale of this feature. Impressive work on your part and the live action feature. As a first time watcher Mihawk blew me away.
I think the thing about Luffy not knowing he could do a gum gum balloon, is a great nod to the current Manga where his abilities are a bit different (to not spoil the newer people)
Yet again a fantastic video of all these details - With the Going Merry’s railing getting broken by cannon balls reminds me that we don’t have Johnny & Yosaku ins’t here to fix it because this is the point in the Manga / anime when they appear - I never noticed that figure in the bar was the same as on the map which I think it is supposed to be the Northern Wind & as for the painting of a pirate battle at sea it maybe a reference to the Edd War - I like that for Nami’s outfit that the circles on her skirt is like a pocket - Also remember for the Territorial Sea Slugs did dance in the arc because of Praline’s song “Rule of a Holiday”
Great breakdown as always! The Baratie episodes were the ones I was looking forward to the most. There was so much packed into the restaurant and I genuinely busted out laughing when I saw Pearl laid out. The OPLA team really put so much time and effort into this show!
Who says Luffy couldn't have been working as a chore boy for a few days by that point, thus making it a week since fighting off Garp's attack and Mihawk's battle against the Krieg Pirates?
I didn't want to assume anything and in an effort to avoid offending anyone in case I was wrong, I thought it best not to mention that since I couldn't be completely sure. Would be fun if that is their intention though!
Now looking at this reference video it seens to me that Gin saying that he is drifting for a week is a way to say that a week has passed, since mihawk is there in the same time.
I think the fishman is meant to be Oda, or his silly avatar in the comics. Zoro may have been the first to spot something in the fog, but it's Usopp who gets the fine details, showing his skills as a sniper. The True Bluefin Saute is an actual recipe from the official One Piece cookbook. When Mihawk splits the ship, you can hear a Wilhelm scream, a classic piece of audio that's mostly associated with Star Wars and almost everywhere else. And I find it hilarious! When Luffy asks Sanji to join the crew, Sanji is seen smiling and playing with his tongue piercing. I guess Taz has one of those. Fun Fact: Taz Skylar really did learn how to cook and fight for this show and even made lunches for the cast and crew. He apparently makes a mean paella. Of course one of the biggest fans of Taz's cooking is Inaki (Luffy)!
I'm both upset it takes a while to make these, cause I enjoy seeing things I might've missed and require another watch. However, I respect the work you put into all of it and thank you immensely for your research.
Changing manga decision is always very dangerous. But Nami not leaving was a good touch, especially with Fishmen being introduced here. After all in Manga we had more time to get to know Nami and she could properly show she cares, so her leaving was a big shock. Here it may actually lean more towards the option that everything was really just her plan from the start. Because we just didn't get as much time with her as we did in manga.
I bet Garp would've thrown Luffy into a pit of starving cats and taken him to a training ground of cursed springs if he had Genma Saotome's training manuals. Hmm, could someone have both Devil Fruit powers and a Jusenkyo Curse in a stable combination, or would that turn out badly due to mixing magics, especially since touching cold seawater would trigger both curses at once?
It's always been something close to "Bah-rah-tee-eh" or "Bah-rah-tee-ay" in the source material and they maintain that pretty closely here in the live action. I don't remember what 4Kids was using, but I vaguely recall the current English dub using this pronunciation. I know a lot of fans call it "Bah-rah-tee" and that's not exactly right either, but I can understand the confusion because the name comes from an attempt at recreating a French-sounding word. The way it is Romanized, as "Baratie", it would actually be pronounced "Bah-rah-tee" if we were trying to adhere to strict French pronunciation, but the intent was always to be pronounced as "Bah-rah-tee-eh"/"Bah-rah-tee-ay" as evidenced by the katakana, バラティエ.
@@onepieceexplained Well, the original 4Kids dub used the three syllable pronunciation, which probably also at least partly explains why it's still popular with a lot of older fans. Personally, I only bothered to go back and watch the episodes that were skipped by 4Kids (the cover story episodes with Buggy and Koby, the Laboon episodes, and the Little Garden Arc), so the pronunciation was new to me.
Also it's cool to note that Ussop was able to spot the Baratie from so far away. Further solidifying his role as sniper
Yaps like his father he have eagle eyes
You mean his role as Sniper King 👑
Did anyone else watch this episode over and over again? I just find it so cozy. Them meeting Sanji and hanging out in the Baratie. Looved it
Definitely the best episode imo
I could watch Sanji cook all day!

Baratie's painting on its ceiling is probably All Blue or Fishman Island

If anyone is interested, the recipe for the True Bluefin Sauté is in Sanji's Cookbook 'One Piece Pirate Recipes' ❤

Nice to see that they didnt forgot Pearl, and even happier it was just a background cameo.

I was excited to see your vid on Eps 5 since it’s one of my favorites of the OPLA

Nice I like your breakdowns
Thanks!
Who says Luffy couldn't have been working as a chore boy for a few days by that point, thus making it a week since fighting off Garp's attack and Mihawk's battle against the Krieg Pirates?
Nobody mentions the Newkama (guy in a dress) behind Sanji after he breaks up the fight.
I didn't want to assume anything and in an effort to avoid offending anyone in case I was wrong, I thought it best not to mention that since I couldn't be completely sure. Would be fun if that is their intention though!
can't wait for the second half!

man sometimes i forget that this show is filmed during covid. imagine what the show runners can do without the limitations.
Some good food seen here

Could the guy looking out crocus? I know doesnt look like a flower hat but it was just the first thought when you showed it here
I don't know if it was this episode or episode 6/7 Chef zeff mentions Jaya
SEASON 2 gonna be good

Krieg’s decreased role is the greatest tragedy in the LA so far.
Also Berri are clearly based on Japanese currency.

Did they change the pronunciation of Baratie in this series, or is that something that the 4Kids dub screwed up?
