Blackmagic Cloud Account is updated - will start with this new feature right now :) Looking forward to more ! :) Best Martin
Wow the Camera app is nothing short of awesome. Wish there was a way to do this with DJI footage direct from drone.....bet we see this sooner than later. Thank you both.
It's possible that if one has the ability to transfer the footage from the drone to their phone wirelessly, that one could simply move the drone footage from where ever it gets put on the phone to the phones Blackmagic cloud synced folder, and have it upload from there. While note as direct ad the app it should only be a couple extra steps if one has that type of feature.
@@billyoung9538 DJI will cache low resolution (proxies) and that could be linked to the camera roll. Haven't tinkered with BMC enough but it is something to try. The phone/pad to cloud connection with the new app is really awesome in the production speed aspect it enables. A DJI import function in BMC would be awesome without a file transfer dance with the phone or pad. Great idea though. Time to get hacking.

Good questions. It’s possible to trigger the upload of the originals later on both the camera and app. It’s in the playback menu. Or you can simply transfer the footage via cable or via card to your computer and relink them later. Hope that helps.

Unfortunately no. A cloud-based project library is required for remote camera syncing. The 2gb on the free account is used for hosting presentations. Thanks for watching.
Powerful update! Love the remote camera access. Does the person who has the camera app but doesn’t have Davinci resolve software, can they still record and upload the items to the cloud?
Would be awesome if they created a cloud sync app where we can plug in out iPhone/iPad to out Camera or SC Card Reader and upload media from any device to the bmc

That’s a really good question. A frame mask for 16:9 is not necessary as the camera shoots it natively. Just turn the frame mask off with the control at the top. Thanks for watching.
@@team2films - Thank you! That makes so much sense but is also kind of illogical when you see the multitude of optional aspect ratios that you can set it to. Or is it just me? 🤣
This update rocks, thanks for the video! I'm also looking forward to what the Camera app can do with the upcoming Spatial Video feature on iPhone 15 Pro and Max.
Hey thanks for this, very helpful! I’m confused about the scenario where you’d first bring in your media and it begins uploading. What if I want it to do proxies first but I haven’t yet created them (if I’d use Resolve to do this)? I would want it to not begin uploading until these proxies are ready. Or would it stop doing the full res media as soon as it sees proxies present?
thanks so much for being so clear! I tried the camera app and could not change the audio recording level and it was too loud. You can't reduce the levels! There is no 0 db limiter. So it is unusable. There is an option to increase the level that doesn't work either. Or is there some setting I've missed? Otherwise I really like the UI.
Glad the video was helpful. You might get better control of your audio when using an external audio device. Plus devices like the Rode Wireless Go give you the ability to attenuate audio before it hits the iPhone.
@@team2films yeah, you are right. I've finally found that although there is no limiter on the iPhone mic (it's easily in the reds), you can adjust audio level with an external mic. You can even re-adjust it while recording. And - it took me some time to realise that you have to tap on "headset mic" instead of leaving it on iPhone mic!
Is there a possibility of having these cloud features just (!) locally in your local network? I absolutely don’t want any project information on any third-party servers.
I saw at 3:39 that you also have 2TB's of storage. Does the user on the other side have to have storage more than 2GB's that comes free in order to download proxy files that have been shared? or will it download to their desktop or project folder that they set. Also If they selected Proxy plus Original can you just select proxy and only download the proxy files?
Only the project owner needs to pay for storage. This is one of the things that makes the price so amazing. You can share your storage with upto 30 users currently. And yes, users can set their own sync preferences, so if someone wishes they can have only the proxies sync. Even if you select originals as well, the proxies always sync first.
Great video, but I'm having an issue. Whenever I record a video on the app and I go and check if it's synching it's just stuck saying Uploading Proxy. Is it because I just got the free 2GB plan? I also made sure I have remote camera enabled on Davinci Resolve 18.6. The help would be greatly appreciated.
Sorry to hear you are having problems. The official forums might be a good place to look for help. Sorry, we have no idea what might be causing your problem.
@@team2films I'm shooting with Rec2020. My apologies I google'd "PQ EOTF" but it's no 100% clear for me atm. My question though is what's the correct input gamma for my footage (in the CST). "Input gamma Rec 709" seems to be working atm.
@@_thewatcher27 Ah yeah, for sure that can be a complex topic to get your head around. The simple answer will be, if it looks right, it is right. Here's a more technical answer: If you are shooting Rec 2020, the correct input colour space will be Rec 2020. If you are shooting Rec 709, the correct input colour space will be Rec 709. Gamma 2.4 is an 'Electro Optical Transfer Function'. As such it is a component of a colour space. Rec 709 is a standard that combines Gamma 2.4 (a way of encoding brightness information) with the Rec709 Color primaries (a way of encoding colour information). In the Blackmagic Camera App, goto settings, record, colour space. Here you can choose whether you are shooting Rec 709, Rec 2100 (mistakenly called Rec 2020 - HDR), P3 D65, or Apple Log. Please note some options like Apple Log are only available on the iPhone 15 Pro. That will allow you to configure which colour space your phone is recording in. Have you watched our master class on colour management? ruclips.net/video/w0ubDSzEEYg/видео.htmlsi=0E9-YgNwQqbPe4fc
I have an Atem mini pro and use canon camcorders, when I tried to use DR 18.5 last week, it told me that the file was not compatible. It was an mp4. So back to iMovie I go
Maybe more practical than you’d think! The app prioritises proxies first so editors can get working straight away. With a 5g or even 4g connection, footage moves really quickly. You can even get sims with unlimited data. You can always connect to wifi to finish your uploads. And whatever the cost or time, for a lot of pro workflows, its going to be cheaper and way quicker than driving cards back to the office or couriering a drive.
@@team2films one major advantage of BMC is it's free ! If they add LOG recording and 10 bit recording( dont know if that's already available), then it will be THE go to camera app
Yes free is a winner :) It's an amazing app. Log is available on the 15 Pro.@@muscle__rr ProRes 422 is a 10-bit codec! ProRes4444 is a 10-bit codec. But please note, Filmic Pro also has those abilities too.
Great video, very informative, concise and well made. Cheers! I wonder if BMD will release this appo for Android as well. They seem to prefer Apple :-(
I was actually curious about that, because they released resolve for iPad, and now this new camera app, they were featured in an Apple Keynote and usually their software is shown in the background even though apple has a kind of competing product in FCP...they actually started this whole awesome company in 2001 selling a capture card for MacOS called Decklink, so I guess they have been Apple fans since the beginning Would be cool to have for android as well, but the range of devices is just so huge, it would be hard to standardize I think, not impossible of course, but it is easier to target just one OS, and like 8 devices maybe.
@@dorythomas1816 my apologies, yes log is available on the blackmagic app on the iPhone 15 pro. It’s required hardware and api changes hence it’s only on the 15 pro.
Having a huge issue. I have 200gb of storage available on my phone but it’s saying I only have lioe 30gb. I’m removing stuff and it’s adding more storage to the app. But there seems to be a huge buffer like when I delete clips it doesn’t allow me to keep recording.
Pricing is per month. But remember for that price you can share your project with unto 30 users! That's such a good price when compared to cloud services like Dropbox.
This seems cool at the surface but having tested out a few of the cloud functions and prices, its always a risk putting anything in a workflow where you lose some control. The good thing is you don't need to use their cloud for this.
Try it and see. It’s only 15 bucks. And you’ll always have a local copy of your data. Focus I. The benefits, for the many workflows this is GOLD. From our experience it works incredibly well. Seriously impressed.
@@team2films I did try it , I also tested lucidlink which was mind blowing. But I'm not on IOS , and I want to run a flexible environment so prem and DaVinci support both. If software doesn't run cross platform then it's not included in the workflow full stop. Lets hope they get some better app developers who know how to actually code for cross platform.
Unfortunately it is currently completely useless for professional use as it is not GDPR compliant. Frame io isn't currently either, but it has been announced for spring.
Yes, many companies will have questions about privacy compliance. Is this just a matter of certification, or are there other problems you foresee with the platform? However, we think there are lots of professionals working in smaller organisations for which this won't be an issue. Looking forward to seeing how the product continues to develop. It's pretty awesome!

a good video, but did not show the process of creating accounts in the cloud for both. You also need to register there first, and then re-enter the DaVinci program and only then create a local project. And so it was informative to find out. ➡If the developers of Blackmagic had at least provided 5 Gb of space for free access, since 2 Gb would not allow you to enjoy the footage in view of high-quality shooting in LOG HQ 👈 There, one file will only weigh half of the proposed space. I would like to see such an opportunity in the future🔝
Thanks for watching. Yeah, that's true, we left out some things like showing us create our accounts. We'll try and address that with some detailed videos in the future. Regarding the available space, it's only $15 a month for 500GB, that's super cheap if you want to experiment.
@@team2films If I rented it often, then yes, this is a normal price. I'm just a video editor and a junior colorist. I would like to immerse myself in videography and hone cinematic techniques. Maybe I'll come to that.

Or would it stop doing the full res media as soon as it sees proxies present?
Proxies are always prioritised. Once created they take priority over original media. The queues are dynamically adjusted. Hope that helps
thanks so much for being so clear!
What if I’m an editor but want to send to someone to do the motion graphics, color grading etc? Can this be used for this? 4:15
Yes, absolutely. Cloud Projects are amazing for collaborative workflows with remote editors.
Is there a possibility of having these cloud features just (!) locally in your local network? I absolutely don’t want any project information on any third-party servers.
It’s already possible to host your own media and library database on a network! You could then make a VPN to tunnel in from remote locations.
@@team2films Np, I figured it out. So it was because of the 2gb plan. I upgraded to the 500gb plan and it worked right away.
What is the stand being used to prop up the Resolve Speed Editor device?
It’s a wooden block. But there are places that sell nice 3d printed stands.
Great app, but I dont see the prores option? 🤔
You need a recent pro phone for ProRes to appear as an option. It requires special hardware.
@@team2films oh okay Thank you, I have 12 pro and dont have option.
@arsh0603 Ah! Sorry, I wasn't too sure but I guess that was only introduced in 13 onwards.
Great post as always! 🤔 what is the exact name of the App...? I don't seem to find it...? thanks!
‘Blackmagic Camera’ Perhaps it takes longer to appear in some regions than others? You’re going to love it. Thanks for watching and commenting.
blackmagic camera is insane
Exactly!
Is the 500gb cloud a one-time 15€ purchase, or 15€ per month? Thanks.
15 dollars per month, and that can be shared with upto 30 editors/shooters
Thanks! @@team2films
I have a DJU Osmo Mobile 6 gimbal. Does the new camera app support it?
We are not aware of any specific support by the camera app for gimbals.
Does this work if one user works on ipad?
Yep. 18.6 for iPad comes out soon. Possibly in the next week or two.
Thank you for this video. I'm new to the color grading world and im trying to figure out what is the gamma of the videos taken with the app?
Hello! The iPhone Pro records Rec709, AppleLog, or Rec2020. Rec709 has a gamma of 2.4, and Rec2020 has a PQ EOTF.
Here's a more technical answer:
If you are shooting Rec 2020, the correct input colour space will be Rec 2020.
So back to iMovie I go
That sounds unusual. I’m sure there is a solution.
How practical is that when uploading large file size footage?
Maybe more practical than you’d think! The app prioritises proxies first so editors can get working straight away. With a 5g or even 4g connection, footage moves really quickly. You can even get sims with unlimited data. You can always connect to wifi to finish your uploads. And whatever the cost or time, for a lot of pro workflows, its going to be cheaper and way quicker than driving cards back to the office or couriering a drive.
End of Filmic Pro for iphone users ? what you say
Just what I was thinking…
Perhaps. Filmic still has some unique features. Many users Will be happy with BM’s app though.
Really cool! ... Thanx a lot!

Blackmagic ar KILLING IT!
Great video, very informative, concise and well made. Cheers! I wonder if BMD will release this appo for Android as well. They seem to prefer Apple :-(
Yeah, that would be great. Thanks so much for watching.
@@team2films Same here I'm Android user and have always been
I was actually curious about that, because they released resolve for iPad, and now this new camera app, they were featured in an Apple Keynote and usually their software is shown in the background even though apple has a kind of competing product in FCP...they actually started this whole awesome company in 2001 selling a capture card for MacOS called Decklink, so I guess they have been Apple fans since the beginning
Would be cool to have for android as well, but the range of devices is just so huge, it would be hard to standardize I think, not impossible of course, but it is easier to target just one OS, and like 8 devices maybe.
I think it's unlikely truthfully, android limited codecs and bad camera APIs would make it meh
@@mariotriforcelol it's way better than iPhone
Is there sharpening mode of toggle in app?
Not sure. Download and see! 😊
@@team2films Can you send me some daylight untouched video file taken with your app?
amazing video. Excited to try it on my iphone. Sad that the cloud doesnt have a region for india yet.
Ah, sorry about that. Hopefully soon. Thanks so much for watching.
R.I.P Filmic Pro. Does it have mobile gimbal support?
No. Not yet at least.
One addition to the app that would be very useful - recording in Log - since iPhone uses 10 bit color space it should be very gradeable...
You can record in log on the iPhone 15 pro 👍
Is there any word on all of this being compatible with the Resolve iPad app?
Yes. Fully compatible. 18.6 for iPad will be released next week (I believe). Give or take, don’t hold us to that 😂
I'm a newbie in this field. why my phone is upoading only proxys to my cloud? I would appreciate your answer. thank you!
There’s settings that allow you to choose whether or not the originals get uploaded too. It’s in the settings page in the app on your phone
Very cool App, but we need some type of Log profile to capture the maximum dynamic rage for a given phone
iPhone 15 Pro has LOG.
Yes, log is available on the iPhone 15 pro. Rec2020 is also available too on some older iPhone models.
@@team2films yeah but I am talking about a Log profile using the black magic app
@@dorythomas1816 my apologies, yes log is available on the blackmagic app on the iPhone 15 pro. It’s required hardware and api changes hence it’s only on the 15 pro.
@@team2films oh that’s awesome.
Thanks for the info 🙏
Do I need a paid subscription to get the shots from my Blackmagic Camera app straight into my Resolve project like demonstrated in this video?
You need a blackmagic cloud project server. You’ll most likely need storage as well. In total $15 a month.
This app is amazing!!
Yeah! And it’s free!!!
no you need a iphone so not free for 80% of the worlds phone users :( @@team2films
How.much data can go into the cloud and quality n time?
That’s a dependent on the resolution, frame rate and codec that you are shooting at. Look at the camera stats for more info on that.
We’re did you get digital film slate in the background
It’s the Deity Smart Slate. Works great, love it.
@@team2films cool!
Unfortunetly on older phones ProRes is not an option. I also wonder if in the future the phone app will support Braw?
Yes, that's true. It requires a chip inside the phone. Braw is a good question. Apple Log is available on the new iPhone 15.
Having a huge issue. I have 200gb of storage available on my phone but it’s saying I only have lioe 30gb. I’m removing stuff and it’s adding more storage to the app. But there seems to be a huge buffer like when I delete clips it doesn’t allow me to keep recording.
Sorry! That doesn’t sound normal. It’s difficult to diagnose without knowing more though. Sorry
Will the Camera app do Timelapse’s? I see a slider but no controls?
I don’t think that’s fully implemented yet. But eventually 👍
Do new files appear in the project when they're added to the synch folder?
They appear automatically.
Yes… and there is not a specific sync folder. Everything syncs.
Can you imagine this app paired with the video recording capabilities of the Samsung S23 Ultra? Maybe one day!
That would be a pretty awesome combo!
Buy an iPhone 📱
Dude!!!! Do you know how much like Linked Nimoy????? Like you could be his son. WOWZERS!
Hahah! Thank-you I think :) I have been called Spock before. 🤣
How do I move footage from a private storage in the cloud into a newly created project file?
You can mark clips to be uploaded to a cloud project. Or you can just transfer them manually off your phone.
How do we connect our camera, Bmpcc 6k pro, to the internet? Please help
I’m not sure that the bmpcc 6k pro has the necessary hardware to support remote camera workflows.
@@team2films they have cloud upload but camera says it must be connected to the internet 🤷🏿♂️🤦🏾♂️
Above my head but great for the pros.
It’s really simple. Great for collaboration. Also great for solo workers who move between computers.
Is the pricing per month, year or lifetime?
Pricing is per month. But remember for that price you can share your project with unto 30 users! That's such a good price when compared to cloud services like Dropbox.
This is awesome cool. Show me more at the weekend at IBC? Cheers!
Of course. Please come on by the stand.
iPhone SE and ProRes?
No. Not on the SE. I think it’s just on recent pro phones.
Would the Camera App work with Sony FX3?
Sadly no, it's for the iPhone, will also work on iPad.
The option Copy from Local to Cloud does not work does not work. Is it just me or is it gone?
Which option are you talking about, can you provide more info?
The option to copy a local project to the Blackmagic Cloud.@@team2films

now i have a good reason to get resolve and maybe a pocket 6k pro over the sony a7iv or fx3
Check out the brand new 6K FullFrame!!!! It’s an amazing camera.
Wow
Yes, wow indeed.
Lets hope they get some better app developers who know how to actually code for cross platform.
iPhone SE 2020 does not support proress!!!😟
Only recent pro phones. Sorry

Unfortunately it is currently completely useless for professional use as it is not GDPR compliant. Frame io isn't currently either, but it has been announced for spring.
Yes, many companies will have questions about privacy compliance. Is this just a matter of certification, or are there other problems you foresee with the platform?

a good video, but did not show the process of creating accounts in the cloud for both.
