I subscribed just a few minutes into this as the presentation is so elegantly done and engaging to watch. Well done. Have a great day and thanks for this top video.
Thanks Anthony! Welcome, it's great to have you here.
This! Thanks for such a great and engaging content!!
Very extensive and clear explanation, as all your videos. Thanks!!
Thanks so much Darren! So much stuff to cover, we need a holiday 🤣
Smaller, more functions, included iPad stand/support, and cheaper than the outgoing version... Thank god a company like BlackMagic still exists, now I might finally be able to afford a color panel (I don't live in the US so these sort of things are way more expensive here).
Yeah. it's pretty awesome. Hope you managed to get hold of one.
Blackmagic doesn't live in the US either. Its an Australian company.
The main reason they have such a pro consumer approach to business is because they are privately owned. If they ever become a publicly traded company it’s only a matter of time before Resolve becomes a subscription and they start squeezing every last penny they can out of their customers. I really hope they never sell out.
@@jibba0202 Still. The base price is in US dollar
It's a double edged sword. They innovate at a rate that makes your old BM equipment lose value very quickly.
I have a Micro panel at home and at work, which just lost 80% of their original $1000 value 😅. Might still be tempted to sell cheap and get the new improved panel.
The fact that this has more functionality than the original micro panel but at a lower cost is pretty amazing. The missing functions from the o.g micro panel that were stopping me from buying it have pretty much all been added to this panel. This is a pretty easy purchase to justify.
Glad to hear. You'll love it. Would love to hear any additional ideas you have.
That is the video Blackmagic should've presented about the new Micro panel! Flawless! A must buy. I'm updating my Micro panel as soon as possible. There's only positives!
Thanks Gabriel! That's kind of you to say. Hope you enjoy your new micro panel when it arrives.
This channel is way beyond its 25k subs. Keep making content like this, focusing on trends, and you'll be at 1 million in 12 months time. Great work!
Thanks so much! I'm not sure about 1million, hehehe, but as long as the people who do watch are enjoying the videos, we are happy. Appreciate having you here.
They are still fairly new to youtube and already growing massively, I still remember them being at 2k subs not too long ago :) But their constantly high quality videos do surely attract viewers - this video has been another milestone in dedicated time and effort for them, it looked really great.
@@N9O Thanks! This April marks 12 months since we started posting Resolve content on RUclips. We're so grateful to everyone who's been watching and supporting. So stoked to have had so many views in just 12 months. Thanks again.
I love your videos. Like Darren Mostyn, you explain stuff so clearly, with no extraneous fat, that it's a pleasure to watch. You both have very soothing voices, too, which almost makes watching videos about editing and grading in Resolve a weirdly meditative experience! You make a great team. Keep climbing those mountains!
What a great compliment to get compared to Darren. He does great stuff. Thanks so much, we really appreciate your support.
As always, your videos offer very comprehensive and clear explanations. Thanks! - The Micro Color Panel looks really impressive.
Thank-you Stefan. Appreciate you watching and commenting.
AWESOME!!! been waiting for a video about this! ❤❤❤
It's here! Enjoy :)
I didn't know i needed a product so much, blackmagic surprised me a lot with this release, it's an insta buy ! The video was awesome, really showed the use case of it, thanks so much !!
Thanks Bruno. Appreciate you watching and commenting.
great review as always....panel looks amazing
Love the breakdown!!! good work and thank you for this.
Our pleasure
Such a well done video and explanation. THANK YOU for this. Here's to your continued growth
Thank-you!
Excellent as usual, friends! That panel looks sick!
Thanks Casey! You're going to love it. Btw, your 2 hour crash course on v19 is 🔥
Wow wow wow!! Amazing work Blackmagic! I cannot wait for a new speed editor please! New course is also amazing! You guys rock I'm going to buy another licence now excited for the future with the new software update and hopefully updated hardware!
So glad you're enjoying everything. Thanks for supporting the channel :) Yeah, new speed editor would be awesome. We'll have to wait to see if Blackmagic develops anything in the future.
Great presentation. Thank you.
Awesome & Thanks :)
the presentation of this video was superb. incredible work! you have earned yourselves a new subscriber for sure!
Thank-you and welcome. Great to have you here.
Great video
great review! I love it! so happy to have this, they really knocked it out of the park this time. the Pyxis 6 is also a breathe of fresh air. finally!! ha ha.
Yeah, Blackmagic have released some really exciting products this year. Thanks for watching.
Very well explained... Best for newbies
Thanks so much. Great to have you here.
Just got mine. Its incredible. This video helped me get up to speed quickly.
Excellent! Hope you enjoy it and we're glad the video was helpful.
Very helpful! Thank you. Most have stated this is available, retailers don't seem to have them though.
Our apologies. It's available to order now. From what we understand, we think there will be stock in May.
Great presentation with all the information laid out logically and without the hysterics I see elsewhere. I've hemmed and hawed over the Micro in the past, but when I saw this with the price and new features, I put myself on the wait list with B&H. Definite purchase for sure. I like that it's portable and though I haven't tried Resolve for iPad, I likely will. I'll take a look at the course. I've used Resolve for a long time but in fits and starts. I probably need some point one towards an end instruction.
Thanks so much! The panel is great. You'll love the course too if you get chance to take it! You know we like to be thorough. And even if you have some Resolve knowledge already you don't know where your knowledge gaps are until you go through the subject thoroughly. If you have any questions about the course, please reach out.
Thanks for watching and commenting.
this was a great video keep them coming!!!
Thanks so much :)
This was such an awesome and concise video. You've earned yourself a subscriber. Also convinced me to strongly consider the new panel since the old one never fully appealed to me (price to features)
Thanks so much. We're so glad you enjoyed the video and it's helping you to consider the panel. Great to have you here.
Amazing video and excellent quality. I'm a newbee willing to learn DvR as much as possible and this new tool is pushing me over...hoping to have it someday. Congrats for the chanel!
Thanks so much! And if you're looking for a guide while learning DVR, please check out our course. Sounds like it could be spot on for you.
Great review thank you
You are welcome.
A splendidly well done review! Subscribed.
Welcome! Great to have you here.
Wonderful review!
Thank you 🤩
Picking up as soon as BH gets it. As someone who uses the iPad Pro as a monitor viewer, the iPad slot is amazing
Ah, that's a really smart idea! You'll love it.
Just made my pre order, can't wait to use this on my main rig and M2 ipad! I was saving up for the bigger panel, but now this makes a lot more sense, (for a little while at least) I still enjoy my Wave 2 that can work with pretty much any application, but its limited in resolve, this micro panel should step up on its current shortcomings.
Yeah, it's really a revelation with the iPad. Great with the laptop/desktop too though. Excited for you to get your panel :)
Love your channel❤
Thank-you so much! Appreciate having you here.
Introduction is very well done. Thanks. I like the portability and use with the iPad. The iPhone 15 pro max with the Blackmagic camera app is perfect.
Yeah, what a great combo, iPhone, iPad, Resolve!
Just amazed with your opening sequence...
Glad you enjoyed it! Those 10 seconds took a whole day to set up 😎
Once again, another excellent video. This channel will have 10x more subscribers soon.
Thanks so much. We're just glad people are enjoying watching our videos.
I have preordered mine. Love what BM is going with the iPad. Love it.
I’ve been trying to do that since yesterday. Where did you find it?
@@staticvideo B&H photo in NY. You can preorder and they will accept the order after 9 tonight
@@chrisbogart687 Thanks man!
This is huge. I don't do a ton of color correction, but will do it on a tight budget. I could never bring myself to shell out for the mini panel., but I'm ready to put my money towards this. Hopefully, I'll grow my skills and it opens the door to many other filmmakers out there. Great video!
Thanks James, yeah it's such an accessible price point. It's a great device. Remember, it won't make you a better colonist. Just a faster one 😊
once you start grading on this thing youll never look back.
I loved it from the first moment I saw it, and it's actually pretty affordable. Thank you very much for walking us through. Love your videos! Cheers from Italy
Yeah, it's a great price. Are you going to get one?
Hi there :) it’s been a while! Excellent review, as always, thank you! I wonder about one thing - can you select nodes with it? It’s great to be able to create ones, but I almost always have a pre-built node structure that I use for all the shots so I personally don’t need to create nodes with the panel but I do need to jump between WB, primary and secondary nodes that I use separately in my workflow
Hello Alex. Yes the Prev Node and Next Node buttons will allow you to navigate through existing nodes in your tree. Thanks for watching.
Thanks, I this video! ❤ Wich size of gear wrap do you use?
We’re using a Domke 19”
The color grading of this video is fantastic! especially the skin tone!
Thank-you so much. That's really nice to hear.
Superb Presentation !!! BMD will surely never manage Such a Classy Demo !!! Super Professional !!! Keep it up !!!
Thank-you so much. Grant did amazing though with the 2 and a half hours of new products he had to present!
Thank you for the wonderful video. Which Gear wrap fits the panel?
We’re using the largest domke wrap
This channel is gold
Great to have you here.
Great review, thank you! Is it possible to control color temperature and exposure in camera raw section with new micro? In my workflow this is needed all the time and for me it would be a game changer. I would be very grateful if you have an answer.
As far as I am aware, no. That's something I think you can do with the mini though.
Great review. Looking forward to seeing a real one. Subbed!
Yeah, you'll love it! Thanks for subbing.
Blackmagic keep on getting better and better
Great video, thumbs up.
Thanks so much.
Thanks Natalie for excellent detailed review of the newly launched color panel. Does the color panel work with all functions of HDR wheels too or is there any kind of limitations?
Thanks so much Ranjan. Appreciate you commenting.
Yes, I think it works with the HDR wheels that are displayed, once they are open. I don't think there is a hardware button to switch to the HDR wheels though.
I like this a lot. I’ve wanted a panel for years, this seems like the first one with the price and functions that make it reasonable for someone that doesn’t strictly color for a living.
Yeah, it's a pretty awesome entry point into the world of color panels. We think you'll love it.
Ok you got me, I'm getting one ha. Looks so much nicer than the old one too.
🤣 Hope you enjoy it when it arrives :)
You make me want to get one, good job.
It's pretty cool! You'll love it.
@@team2films I get one and let you know what I think of it
The chapter marker timing with the resolve logo animation couples with three iOS RUclips app’s haptic effect between chapters to make it seem like they somehow added a haptic effect to the logo animation
How do I turn on the haptic effect for chapters?
Haha! That's funny. We're making 4D videos :) Thanks for watching.
This is a great tool! I hope to get one soon.
Thanks Brian. It's a great panel.
Really nice video! It was well structured and informative.
There's only one question left for me. Is the studio license included when I buy that?
Thanks so much.
No Studio license. Sorry.
@team2films too bad. Otherwise, this would be a perfect choice.
Thanks for your fast reply
To you both, I’d like to thank you for producing such straightforward and easy to follow videos. I’ve ordered one but I’m a bit confused because I don’t know how to get DaVinci Resolve 19 for iPad because my understanding is the panel only works with that version.
Hello! Thank you so much. We’re glad you are enjoying our videos. We’re not sure when Resolve 19 for iPad will be released. We expect it to be relatively soon though.
In the meantime, the panel will work with 18.6, but only the core buttons work. Sorry for the delay in v19 coming to the iPad.
@@team2films that’s very kind of you to take the time out to respond, I appreciate giving the volume that is often not possible. I read about your course and am tempted, due to your excellent delivery and style of teaching. I’m holding out though for something that’s around HDR workflow. I’m actually quite surprised that there is very little on this given that cameras, iPhones and someone can shoot in HLG, that iPads, iPhones and whilst I appreciate their expensive, the XDR pro monitor can all do a reasonable job of grading for a HDR output. That RUclips can now accurately know what the player device can handle and deliver the right SDR or HDR content means I’m wondering what I’m missing that everybody seems to be so fixed a downgrading to Rec.709. ☺️
Wonderful explanation:m. Thank you so much. The video actually cleared my doubts of buying it.
Does this panel come with studio version like other panel.?
Sorry. Went through the comments below and found the answer for studio version.
No worries, glad you got your answer. Thanks so much for watching.
Nice explanation love it! Will it get the Original Software as well ?
It does not come with a studio license. Is that what you are asking?
I'm totally getting a nerd-on! 🤩
Thanks for watching
14:35 Totally! I would love for the play head to be movable! They gotta add this, email them!
We'll pass the suggestion on. Thanks so much for watching.
Super cool video! I think it would be cool if an iPad could be used more as an extension of the desktop interface. For example it could show scopes. I wonder if that's possible, even on PC?
Yes it can, we have a video coming out on that soon! Stay tuned. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the video , this panel works with HDR wells?
No, sorry. Doesn’t work with the HDR wheels currently. Thanks for watching
What lighting do you use for your video? It's amazing
Thanks so much! We're using a mix of Aperture LED panels. Shot on a Kinefinity Mavo LF, with Zeiss Milvus Superspeeds and Atlas Mercury A-Set.
Excellent review and overview. Thanks!!! Can you by any chance confirm that it works with PC? The official documentation I found only listed MacOS.
Thanks so much. Yes, definitely works with windows. I’m not sure why the manual only says mac.
They could easily allow the rings to be used as shuttles in conjunction with the user button. It’d also be cool if an ipad could be used as the 3 windows of a mini while doing the actual edit on the computer. Maybe one hard wired, one bluetooth.
Yeah, that’s an interesting idea… expanding functionality with an iPad screen. I’d love to see scopes on the screen too.
Your video quality is off the charts 📈📈📈😮
Thank-you so much! We’re trying to make the videos as worthwhile for people to watch as possible 🙂
Maybe it is just me, yet I would love to be able to fully utilize this panel on the Edit and Cut pages. Somehow I imagine it would be heaps of fun to use those adjustment rings and track balls for moving around your (multi-cam?) footage, and there are enough buttons to control a lot of the editing tools. We'd have to remember a bunch of additional hotkeys but hey, that is part of the fun.
Would just require some changes in DR...
Yeah, that would be interesting. Blackmagic does a good job of keeping their devices simple though which we think is one of their strengths. Perhaps extra functionality will get added in future firmware updates.
It would be good if holding one of the shifts would control the hue curves, or the new color slice with dials.
Yeah, that's a great idea. Maybe more features will come with future firmware updates.
Awesome review!
I have some questions tho. Can you adjust the R, G, B channels of lift, gamma, gain, offset from this panel or is that funcionatlity is still only in the mini panel and above?
Thanks so much. I think that's going to be a mini/advanced panel feature.
@@team2films Thanks a lot.
buen video We are from the United States and we follow your channel
Thanks so much @SeguraCine It's great to have you here.
Great Curries Of India. I want one! And a new Micro panel. Thanks for the detail description!
You'll love it! Thanks for watching Jamie.
great presentation. thanks!
the panel looks like an amazing product. would make a perfect match for my ipad and speed editor. now i just need to get the idea past my wife! as an aside, what was the bag that you use at 10:25?
Thanks Andrew. Glad you enjoyed it. It's a DOMKE 19" Gear Wrap.
I need this!
😊 Sorry!
I have the previous generation. But so keen to see how this compares to that longterm use. That bluetooth capability 😭👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Yeah, and the previous gen is still a fantastic panel. Hope you get to try out the new panel at some point.
Am gonna buy this panel it's super useful 👌
You'll love it.
Great presentation!! BM should get a T2F invoice.
Hahah, thanks so much! Tell them, not us 🤩🤣
Great Review! That was what I was looking for. Does someone know if I can use two Ipads simultaniously to get more screen space? And in the video I saw a TV displaying the same source in the background. Is there a way to select this as a viewer or potentially via a USB-C hub and HDMI?
That's a no to the two iPad idea. Sorry.
To the second question, yes. You can use an external display as a 'reference display' via the USB C output on Pro iPads. It's pretty awesome.
Everything about this new panel is so smart.
Yeah, BM have done so well!
I wish they made a cross between this and the speed editor. I love that wheel🥰
Yeah, that would be very cool.
Really great review of this new product - I really get a feeling that I know what the product does and doesn't do from this review- and that is basically all we could ask for>
I keep throwing out this idea in hopes that a person with coding experience and the technical know-how could get the spark of an idea.
The slot for the ipad - instead of connecting to the ipad Resolve, my thoughts are that all other controls panels have LCD screens near the top of the panels that give feedback of what you are doing - except the micro panel.
It seems that if the micro has the bluetooth sending to Resolve, that it could be also sending the feedback to the ipad and with a clever code person out there, micro users with an Ipad, could have the IPAD take place of higher end info panel LCDs - add the scopes to it, and we would be able to not have to look at the GUI in Resolve hardly at all.
Anyway any really smart coders out there - I lay no claim for the idea - would just love to see it happen. And I bet a lot of micro users would purchase an app, to get that functionality.
Thanks Jim. Yeah, it would be great if there was some sort of companion app for the iPad that utilised it as a display. Hopefully that will happen at some point in the future.
Did you shot this with Mercuries from Atlas ? Lovely look !
Yes, mostly shot with the mercuries. Thanks so much. They are lovelly lenses
I just got my panel yesterday, what is that gear wrap you put around your panel? Do you have a link? I would love to buy one.
It's a DOMKE 19" Wrap.
This thing really is better in every way than the Mini panel.
Black Magic doing amazing work with their hardware as usual, and not being afraid to bring new features to cheaper products.
I love this company.
Yeah, they really do deliver! Thanks so much for watching.
Great review. Thanks!!!
I am a Micro Panel user and I would update to the new one if raw controls were added. I only shoot raw and I don't understand why this first step isn't included. Do you have any clue on how to deal with it?
Hello, thanks for watching. The mini panel gives you the ability to adjust raw settings.
@@team2films thank you!
can i use it to edit photos in LightRoom or any other program besides DR?
I hate that my Speed Editor cannot be used for anything else. it's just a fancy bluetooth keyboard so why not allow other programs to use?
That's covered in the FAQ. It's a dedicated Resolve control surface.
okay this is what i want now
It's pretty sweet!
this is game changer
wow!!!!!!!!!!!!! hope i can have one ☺
You'll love it!
I would love you to review the Replay Editor, but not for a Broadcast/Live replay editor, but as a regular Multicam Editor, to see if it’s an advanced Speed Editor, or if it’s really just meant for Broadcast Replay….
Yeah, we're looking forward to getting our hands on one.
Absolutely spot on critic/recommendation about being able to use stop/play button to hijack a ring for transport controls - 100% agree. That said, even using the Advanced panel, you'll always find yourself in a position where the mouse or keyboard is superior. Also, no one seems to have addressed the MacOS Sonoma being the only supported OS. Wonder if that will change by release.
Thanks so much, we appreciate you watching and commenting. Yes agreed, mouse and keyboard are always going to be a part of anyone’s workflow! Windows is supported. I’ve had that confirmed. It might just be a manual typo. I would suspect Linux is too. The BM team have always done really well maintaining version parity.
Can you switch between primaries and HDR wheels with it?
No, i do not think it currently had that feature. Maybe in the future?
So can you share what all the shift up and shift down functions are?
Check the quick start manual. It's available on Blackmagic's support website.
Such a great company. Love my Speed Editor and will be getting this. Now howabout a micro fairlight controller?
Yeah, they are doing awesome things. Love the idea of a micro Fairlight controller!
Did OP miss focus or is the lens so soft that even in focus it is blurry? It has a beautiful look but just wondering.
We're using an anamorphic lens that has focus fall off at the top and bottom of the frame. We're using it on an open-gate vista vision sized sensor too, which exaggerates those qualities.
Hopefully you'll notice that the centre of the frame is super sharp.
It's a deliberate look. Hope you liked it.
Waiting on 19 for iPad. Wondering when it’ll drop.
That's a plan! Not sure when the release is coming. It IS coming though :)
Can you already install DaVinci 19 beta on IPad? Thanks do you know how to get the TestFlight code for DaVinci beta 19 thanks
No, no public beta available on the iPad currently.
wonder if there is a manual for the new micro panel to see all the shift key options and other features
Yes, there is a manual.
@@team2films where? I thought I combed blackmagic support site.
is it possible to change the tension of the track balls?
No, sorry! Maybe there are DIY solutions though?
absolutely fantastic job covering this!
@PatrickStirling Thank-you. Loving your v19 content. When are we teaming up for something?
@@team2films I'd love that
