Love it man. Always find your videos encouraging. Seeing your thought process and behind the scenes. Super helpful and a big blessing.
Thanks bro, stoked you’re on board for the journey 🏴☠️ I love hearing the reason why people make decisions and not just the final product. Helps me learn.
I first purchased my blimp and dead cat for a wind surfing event. It saved us! regular 30mph gust with no problems!
It’s so crazy to have howling wind and absolutely clean audio!
Nice Boom setup running into camera. I love that for doc style stuff.
It’s great when I can work with a professional soundie too.
Hey David I am currently a film student at Full Sail. I live in southwest Florida so I attend online. I have mentioned your vlogs a few times in some of our discussion posts online through the school. That is awesome that the word is spreading! Congratulations!
That’s crazy, I appreciate you sharing the videos!!
I would be curious if there was a way to lock 2 of the wheels from swiveling. Would be a lot easier navigating it down sloped sidewalks
2 wheels are locked. 2 wheels swivel.
The swivel have the brakes.
Agreed! I am the same as far as one man band and I got the Comica VM30. It works really well on a boom or wired. It was cheap enough and works really well. Great vlog as always David!
Love it when the gear purchases actually work out!
And thanks!
@@davidmorefield 100% agree
hi, try always putting the dead cat on the blimp every time you are outside. for me it’s always when i don’t put the dead cat that a hurracain appears
Didn’t need it in this case. Crystal clear. But it’s fl, there could be a spontaneous hurricane.
I've been using the RocknRoller carts for years. but you have me considering this one!
I’ll keep sharing my thoughts as I continue to put it through its paces.
I’ll grab an affiliate link from bh, if you consider it- that would be awesome if you could use it.
@@davidmorefield will do if I do!
so true! I'm done with lavs for most shoots. The boom almost always sounds better anyway. Love your vlogs👍
Definitely love the clarity of a boom.
Thanks, I’m going to keep making them. I’m in the middle of a bunch of consecutive gigs.
I’m moving away from boom to more lav for less gear and set up time. Boom definitely sounds better though.
@@TracyDavis904 as long as the lav isn’t scratching on fabric, I love how efficient it is. Especially if you only put on once at the beginning of the shoot.
@@davidmorefield yes that’s the tricky part is the clothing.
That blimp setup is a godsend for outdoor. I had a stint of a few months where I was doing a lot of man on the street. We did one shoot with just the deadcat on the mic before buying the blimp and it was night and day difference.
This isn’t my gear but man I didn’t realize how valuable it is. Now, if I do something else like this, I will 100% buy this.
Dead cat goes over the blimp , it wont work just by itself as intended .
@@robinprobyn1971 there are dead cats for just mics. I believe that’s what he’s referring to. I doubt he’s using the dead cat for a blimp over a bare shotgun.
@@davidmorefield There are fluffies , but dead cat is specifically what you put over a blimp , no ?
@@robinprobyn1971 I’ve heard the terms interchangeably. But we’re on the same page
Yea i go to fullsail and they've Definity mentioned you a few times.
Yo that’s wild 😂 Is it just in the Facebook groups?
I'm the dude that suggested you get those Sony wireless sets a while ago. If you want to almost never ever have to worry about wireless interference, make sure to get the UC90. They use 941-960mhz frequency. Wifi & Most Cell operate in the 2.4/5mhz frequency range. I have a set and I never get interference. I was told you could operate these in downtown LA and NYC and probably never get interference.
I know a high level doc dp who bought the uwp’s in that higher band. He said they were his favorite option but he was still getting interference inside a congested nhl arena. Seems like there’s no foolproof option but those do seem like the best.
Boom poles and blimps are great, I keep using other peoples with my MKE600. Really need to buy one, which one did you go with? Rode?
This belonged to someone else. Not sure which product.
Do you have a link for that Wimaxit battery? I can't find it anywhere.
amz.run/6sRf
What kind of microphone are you using to talk on? A windscreen on your lav mic, if you used one, would have made such a huge difference in the quality of your audio. I've never used a blimp, but, it looks like fun. I've done run-and-gun with the foam screen that comes with every shotgun mic i've used and haven't found a need to seal it up in a blimp.
I hate coming across as an a-hole, i really do enjoy your videos. I was just curious.
No offense taken! The blimp cancelled out all wind noise. I had a windscreen and didn’t have the need for it. So it stayed in the pelican. Crystal clear isolation from the blimp.
There is an ntg3 inside I believe. The gear isn’t mine.
As far as mics for the sony packs, it should be any TRS lav.
The stock Sony ones are fine enough. But sanken cos 11, or Rodelink lav or similar small lav would be my suggestion if you were to upgrade them. Much better sound quality and less bulky, so easier to hide.
In any case a shotgun or cardiod mic at talent will give much nicer audio than any lav.
Sony seems to be wried different from some other manufactures , you have to make sure it set to work with a Sony kit . I have some Sanken Cos 11 , that don't work with Sony , although they are TRS , they are wired for non Sony kits.
@@robinprobyn1971 Interesting. Can you direct me to any information specifying that they are using a non standard TRS? Or a lav compatibility list that someone has tested?
I have used the last gen UWP's for at least 5yrs across many random mic brands and never had an issue with an incompatible lav mic. Not to say they havent changed something in this new generation. But I am skeptical Sony would install a non standard TRS interface, rather than using a proprietary connector instead if they wanted to use proprietary mics.
Got more details?
@@jamesandcamera I have some Sanken Cos 11 mics here in Japan .And from the factory they dont work with Sony , but do for another brand thats very popular here, You have to request " Sony wiring " so they are not always universally plug and play . I guess the two rings on the pin are wired differently ? All the sound people here told me Sony is wired differently from other manufactures .
@@robinprobyn1971 Okay so I think I get where this idea is coming from.
So Sanken terminate the Cos 11 in a lot of different plug ends, from microdot to mini xlr, to lemo etc for different manufacturer systems which are physically different plug ends to each other. They require you to ask for the type of system you will be using the mic on so they send you a lav with the right physical connector. Sony and Sennheiser both use the TRS standard on their broadcast packs. So any TRS lav mic will work with them. Even if the Tip and Ring are wired in reverse on a TRS connector the sound comes through, just not to spec.
I highly doubt Sony would have wired it out of ISO spec though.
If you can find a name brand TRS lav that you can test first hand that doesn't work I would be very interested to know the specific brand and why they are not using the ISO for TRS.
@@robinprobyn1971
For reference, talking about the different termination options. Senh and Sony, as explained both use the TRS standard.

Are you big on buying the BEST vmount batteries? Like I bought the "REYTRIC 190Wh(13400mAh) V Mount/V-Lock Battery", lasts a good time, but idk if its worth it rn to get like the smallrig/anton bauer type high price batteries.
I buy the best stuff for my camera since it would be detrimental if I fried it.
But I would use the Wimaxit battery (linked in description) for lights or cheaper accessories.
