I've used the 28-135 a handful of times. It is the most "its a lens" of any lens I've ever used. It doesnt spark any joy or anything but if you need to just get footage then its great. Not the lens for every shoot but convenient in the right scenerios.
Highly agree with that description 😁
Buy a van, kit it out, the additional income will pay for the house.
Kit the van out with a bed like you have and save even faster. :)
As a minimalist, this goes against every grain in my body. Maybe the call is to fully move into the van.
If @davidmorefield doesn’t take you up on this, I think I will
Put a wing on the van. Same look as a Supra.

"smart would be a tough word to call it..." 🤣🤣🤣🤣
A little too strong. ‘Fun’ is more appropriate
i have a dual avx lav setup, with the MKE2 upgraded mic, which is the only way to go imo, it's so worth it for conference video even at 1,100 a pair with spare batteries. auto gain, low noise floor, great sound. do yourself a favor and connect the receiver to your gold mount via micro usb to d-tap with an adapter because that's the first thing that goes with the proprietary lithium setup. then all you have to worry about is the transmitter batt which should last a corporate production day. it's miles better than the sony because of the auto gain for stick and lav when you're a solo shooter and can't monitor levels.
also have avx's, they're nice but the receiver batteries do suck and are expensive, powering them from dtap means more wires, and they are a touch out of sync in post which you only notice if you are watching playback with the scratch/shotgun audio running at the same time so not really an issue if you just use the lav audio. Personally I use the rode pro lavs unless it's a mission critical situation where I'm worried about interference in which case I switch to the AVXs
Get that car!! Smart… maybe not. But you have earned that. You are killing it and gaining so much traction. Especially as RUclips continues to grow and bring some more $$
I’ve had a long term goal to have YT pay for my rent. Maybe when I achieve that, I’ll go for the mark 5 🙌🏻
Using a viewfinder instead of a big monitor would help with weight and give you and extra point of contact. The VCT plate is alot of weight too though, a steadygum would probably help. That 28-135 is pretty nice. No lens will be perfect. Unless its a b4 lens with an optical adapter lol.
But then I lose my precious autofocus that I rely on so much.
“The next logical choice is getting a Supra.” Haha.
Maybe similar to your renting of gear to test it out, you can find a Supra to rent (might be difficult - borrow someone’s?) and take it on a shoot and see how much of a nightmare (or similar) it is to put gear in it for a shoot?
That’s actually a fantastic idea. Might have to bring my camera bag and tripod to a dealership.
just casually going to a local spring 🙌🏻🙌🏻
It’s a fl thing 🐊
I almost die laughing when you mentioned the Supra. I said “that’s even smaller😂🤪”
Smaller yet more fun
@@davidmorefield I bet! Fun is dangerous 😂😂 almost ran out of gas on the road having too much “fun” on my Mustang and ignoring all the gas station signs 😬🤪
@@davidmorefield btw FedEx fail me today with that rental, the didn’t deliver to the store now I have to wait for tomorrow
Try the pineta peak tripod before the schatler its alot cheaper.
Wow just gave it a quick look. Seems interesting!
What about that new small rig tripod that potato jet helped design instead of a sachtler in order to save some coin? Bit skeptical but from the NAB videos it looked pretty impressive for what will be a decent price
Looks interesting. Can’t say anything yet bc I haven’t got my hands on it or seen a full review video. I love the innovation though
Why not just buy the UWP cube TX and use any stick mic you like...
Bc I rarely ever get this request and didn’t want to make a $1k investment in tx and stick mic.
Daamn mate, I'm genuinely shocked by the rental prices in the US! Here you can get the 28 - 135 for 41,- euro which is like 44 dollars with the current rates. Baffled.
It was for 10 days
Yay plastics, absolutely fascinating. 😴
bro not financial advice but buy used van, make it good for your gear and then continue to save for that house but dont go to high on the house. call dave ramsey he might be able to help!
I’m anti-van 🤣 I live in a condo with one space and I’m definitely not daily’ing a van.
Definitely agree with not going too high with the house though.
@@davidmorefield Apologies for the unsolicited advice here, but I agree with @lensbokeh (in part). As a guy with a few years on you, I know now that saving for the house is a very smart play (you don't actually have to buy a house, but having the means provides you with tremendous leverage and/or other options). A cool car may be fun today, but ain't nothing more fun than financial independence 15-20 years from now. You don't want to be the one guy in your friend group working into your late 60s while your buddies are out there playing and enjoying their lives. The early 30s are a dangerous age when it still feels like youth goes on forever. In reality, it's a critical time in life when math and time begin to work for you ... or against you. You don't want to wake up at 40 with no savings, no house, and no financial leverage. That math gets really hard, really fast.
Oh man that's annoying if the cleaning crew moved the time lapse camera! Not sure if they moved it for a sec and tried to put it back where it was exactly, but I've had that happen to me before so now I put coloured tape exactly where the tripod legs land so they know where it goes exactly. Althought most of the times they try and succeed there's time where they don't give a crap and don't put it back 🙃
Dude… I put tape, stanchions, sound bags, pelicans around it and they didn’t care at all even when I addressed them about it every following morning.
@@davidmorefield Bro, some people are unbelievable. Like if anything they do less work if they don't clean that area under the tripod hahaha 🤣
one man crew is so tired, but you are freedom.mabybe you can earn more pay
Definitely less overhead that could lead to high profit margins.
who needs a house , buy an expensive small sports car man ! .. BTW , you want to be keeping that girlfriend that said it's ok ! . boy ,she's gold.
She is. ✨
Buying a house first would be a better profitable investment though houses in Florida right now even ones for rent are insane BUT as a car lover as myself the Supra is a great choice🤣 i been looking at the g82 M4 or Audi s5, both are horrible financial mistakes but aye 🥲
A house takes much more capital and can bring even more expenses. Definitely a better investment now. My rent is crazy cheap, so what I should do is keep renting and save.
But a Supra tho…
