    Well, this was one of the most informative and entertaining reviews of a piece of tech I have ever seen. Not many people can talk about this kind of stuff as in depth as you and still make it interesting, and the editing too. First video I've seen of yours, Blunty, and I must say, I am thoroughly impressed. Bloody good card too, shall hope to be getting it soon!

    Hey Blunty, great Video thanks a lot!! I would've missed this card since I was so fixated on G1s. Im building my once-in-a-life-time Setup right now and I'd like to go SLI with this Card. Did you take any Wattagenumbers while reviewing it? There is barely something on google, since the topic is starting to get rather filled and most concentrate on the Waterforce one. Do you think 1000W will suffice, regular build, no Water. Thanks for your opinion!

      +Sam Gunthur Most enthusiast aftermarket cards these days are overbuilt. I mean I have the AMP! Extreme 980Ti from Zotac and at 100% utilisation it hits 60 degree's if that and I still can't hear it. Seems to becoming the norm as well as Gigabyte overbuild and the upcoming Corsair Hydro 980Ti which is looking to run 100% at 30-35 degree's utilising closed loop water cooling and an air cooler in absolute silence, it seems the overbuilt trend is just getting started.

    Awesome review. if you do not mind a really slight amount of extra noise, increase the GPU voltage to 1.275V (can go up to 1.3V if needed) and then push the base clock speed to around 1.6GHz. the memory can stay at 8 GHz.

  • @CapsLockKeyon
    @CapsLockKeyon 8 лет назад

    I'm building my first PC right now...I was going to go with the MSI GTX 970...it has 2 fans, doesn't look as cool and probably won't do as good. Do you think I'll be able to do Ultra settings on some games? Or would I be stuck around High? I know I can probably google such a question, but I know you've used these cards and I was just curious if you think it would be good enough.
    I am debating going with the Gigabyte GTX 970 instead of the MSI, OR even the 980ti if I think it'll do an awesome job. It's just a matter of me never really overclocking (or really being interested as far as my first PC build knowledge goes). Great product overviews as always. I'm actually referring to a few past reviews on other products for my PC. Already ordered the elgato HD60 Pro.

    • @BluntyTV

      +CapsLockKeyon The 970 will Ultra for most current games, IF you're not interested in going past 1080p (check the links in the description for a relevant video on the matter)

    • @CapsLockKeyon
      @CapsLockKeyon 8 лет назад

      Thanks Nate. I checked out your earlier video on Star Wars Battlefront 4K and noticed you ran the game on Ultra at 1080. Fantastic! I don't know how I missed that video. Too many subs in the subs box I guess. Thanks for the response. I think I can live with the GTX 970.

  • @InShortSight
    @InShortSight 8 лет назад

    So my current lappy's Fans are currently louder than that card just from watching this video in 1080p...
    Video's over and now the fans can wind down >.< Makes me feel good about my current money sink: A blue themed duplicate of your devil's crevice that should be up and running before christmas. Though probably short 1 graphics card for the time being.
    Following your example I don't have the money for the full build yet, however I also have a concern of fitting the card in my case. I recall you saying some cards wouldn't fit in the small corsair case you got so I figure my best bet is the same card you first got; with that lovely blue logo. A guy can always dream of spending way too much though.
    Cheers for all the helpful vids :3

    Bought it, but I'm thinking about selling it as soon as I receive my order and get a reference card instead. Don't get me wrong, it's a beast, but I don't how I ended up buying it for my x99 platform, mostly for rendering/video editing less for playing games. Still great review Blunty, very useful and informative.

  • @agsultana82
    @agsultana82 8 лет назад

    Can't believe I only just found about you, Blunty, in my research for a GTX 980 Ti. A convert from the Red Team and I really have tried to support them over the last few years, but just so sick of Crossfire compatibility and slow driver releases on my R9 290s.
    Given there aren't many reviews - RUclips or otherwise - for the Xtreme Gaming I'm glad I stumbled upon this, and it assisted my decision to purchase it a couple of days ago. Man, the thing is just...(don't say extreme - or worse, 'xtreme') WICKED! Performs as well, or better at 4K, in pretty much every title across the board compared to my TWO R9 290s. That's not even with a manual overclock which it sure can do, unbelievably well.
    Of course, the fact that Nvidia is in bed with so many publishers helps, and it's why I avoided converting for so long, but it just got too frustrating. GeForce Experience and their control panel is still so much nicer and has more customisations than AMD's software, even after their Radeon Settings update. And, the card is just so much cooler, quieter and more overclockable, that AMD needs to sort their shite out! Before we have a monopoly which would be a disaster for consumers and prices.
    But anyway, yeah I'm subscribed now - this review was hilarious but informative, so great job! Great to see an Aussie rather than putting up with Jay!

    thanks for that blunty, what price does this card retail for?you should add vivid landscapes, a touch of green and leafy trees to your fallout mods to really get your gpu working, my 770 is doing just fine on fallout 4 with 20 mods installed, no classic Bethesda crashes this time WOOHOO!This is the first card I've seen that has reached the next level of gpu power in about 2 years since I bought my 770, it might be time to upgrade to one of these in the near future as I'm starting to overclock my skylake as of next week ^.^

    • @BluntyTV
      @BluntyTV  8 лет назад

      +Robert Johnston I don't include prices in reviews of gear like this as it varies, sometimes greatly, over time. Also, currency, market and even retailer... three seconds on google will answer your question accurately whenever you're doing so, and for wherever you're from, and whatever currency you pay in.
      And using modded games in a review isn't ideal, too much variability. But if I investigate those suggestions, perhaps I'll do what I did for the GTX950 with minecraft shader mods, and make a separate stand alone video.
      And yeah, 770 to 980ti, that's about 3 years isn't it? feels like good timing for an upgrade of noticeable worth.

    • @Lorecastapendragon
      @Lorecastapendragon 8 лет назад +1

      +Blunty you did a great job with the benchmarking, I think these cards go for about $1100 here for the 6gb version, don't know whether to upgrade now or wait for the pascal chipset, I don't know how wide the gap is going to be between the 980 and 1000 series yet

    • @Aliamus_
      @Aliamus_ 8 лет назад

      Chris Taylor Yeah, i was thinking about going Ti too but the prices scared me, in the end i went and got a 980, probably a waste sense i hear a 970 can match it with a little overclock, but i'm not planing on upgrading anytime soon and it fit the budget (barely).

    • @Aliamus_
      @Aliamus_ 8 лет назад

      Chris Taylor The way i see it, coming form a notebook, i had to get a totally new machine, so i got one in the mind set i would eventually want to get a better gfx card, so i have one, but i can totally slap a better one in when pascal or the one after that, stops teasing us, and finally gets here. meanwhile i'll be playing comfortably on high for a long time, and eventually medium settings if it comes to that, if i were you i would wait for pascal, even it ends up being a total disappointment, it will still probably drop the price on the 980 ti, you win, and if its the best thing since PB&J you can take what you didn't spend now and get an even better card. or you can just get a TI now and make me jealous :D

  • @daveengwer8072

    topped out at +84mhz, +345mhz memory on normal bios. on LN2 bios now and it's taking an absurd overclock without adjusting voltage, +175 core, +200 memory. using 41% of available power according to afterburner so the headroom is insane. this card seems to need a lot of voltage on the stock bios to overclock though.

    • @daveengwer8072
      @daveengwer8072 8 лет назад

      Yes i did, passed 1571mhz core 8003mhz memory on firestrike but doesn't seem to be stable in game, can't figure out why. Currently running Witcher 3 at 1500mhz boost and 7862mhz memory completely stable, using the stock bios.

      +ToofPaste I'm not actually sure. Gigabyte sent it to me, but they didn't actually say if they're going to be asking for it back... I'd LIKE to hold on to it; beyond the obvious reason of IT KICKS ASS AND I WANT IT!!!... it'll also be quite useful for any future comparisons of other high end cards, or new benchmarking programs, or new games... **SHRUG** Guess I'll just have to wait and see if Gigabyte ask for it back :) fingers crossed ;P

    • @DVM981
      @DVM981 8 лет назад

      +Blunty I think the norm these days is that unless it's some pre-release sample of something pretty rare like the Fury X before launch most manufacturers don't want it back. Maybe Gigabyte will prove different, but it seems these days allowing the reviewer to keep the unit is their way of payment for the publicity.

    • @BluntyTV
      @BluntyTV  8 лет назад +1

      ProTw33ks It varies. The Aussie AMD folk for example have always asked for their cards back after review.
      And I NEVER consider being able tp keep hold of a review unit as "payment for publicity"... that attitude is a very fast way to make reviews USELESS by introducing bias.
