The alpha really destroyed my enjoyment of my free time for the moment haha. Normally I loved to go fly around a bit in the evening when my girlfriend and kid went to bed, it was my zen moment of the day. Or I played some VR games if I wanted to have some action. I was really happy. Now when I fire up 2020 I just can't appreciate it as much anymore, the ugly trees bother me all of a sudden, the lighting feels off, everything is too damn green, the stutters are worse, the clouds don't look as nice, the night lighting isn't as good... and every time I try and fire it up I find something else that's just not as good anymore, I feel locked up inside the plane now for instance 😅. Instead of playing VR games I find myself hanging around the forums or RUclips reading and watching about MSFS2024. It has really destroyed some delicate balance it seems 🤣. It's going to be a long month!
Day one switch for me. I have noticed something which I hope happens all over…the roads no longer have that green tint and look much more natural, especially the country roads. Also, the sim looks brighter, especially with the light clouds setting. The bottom surface of cumulous clouds is not nearly as dark as it looks in MSFS2020 and is much more natural.
great video guys! I am very excited about 2024 and probably not going anywhere near it for 2-6 months until the dust from the release settles (bugs, server issues, all the problems we're not even thinking about yet. I remember what the first two years of 2020 were like!) but more importantly until I see there is a clear path to bring what I have from 2020 into 2024 and get it working without breaking the bank, and from what I'm seeing so far, I'm concerned. If every 3rd party plane from 2020 is going to cost an upgrade fee and if the same applies to enough 3rd party airports, I may hold off.
Don‘t forget 3rd party developers are getting access to the sdk on the 21st of this month already. Hence they‘ll have almost a full month to get their products compatible with the new sim if not take advantage of the new features. My assumption is that right after the new sim releases PMDG and the others will provide a build that fully works in MSFS 2024. With that taken care of there‘s going to be no reason to keep using 2020.
Day one cutoff, for sure. The planes delivered with the new sim, should last until the big devs updated their planes. Hopefully it doesn’t take too long. Think one of the first will be iFly. Whats your guess?
Remember guys, this was a stripped down Tech Alpha based on an older development built to test services. Many things will not be the same for the release version on November 19, which very likely will also apply to controls and compatibility features. So, drawing any conclusions to that effect is pointless right now. And claiming people and developers will be having these issues is just premature.
Yeah probably like a six months old build at least and stripped down on top of it. You don't go from that to a final product in one month... Obviously.
I personally won't uninstall 2020 till the fenix a320 series are fully compatible and vatsim is fully compatible. I don't care about the story mode or the mission stuff.
Probably a day one switch. I can fly helicopter and bush stuff until PMDG and Fenix catch up. I hope the Twin Otter and ATR72 are good out of the gate. I could spend a month doing some Africa flying then come back when the airliners arrive.
Why? 2020 doesn't even run perfectly on its own. PMDG have never run "perfectly" even going back to FS2004. Just upgrade at release and don't look back. Spend those weeks waiting for PMDG by learning all the intricacies and getting those graphics settings dialed.
I don't know about the background of that information but during the SDK developer stream it was announced that wiper effects are supported by the core sim now and that these are controlled by a new texture layer which also enables smear. The effect the wiper creates was basically not previewed yet. Keep in mind, that comment was about the default 737 Max 8 on MSFS 2024 and not the iFly one on MSFS 2020.

@@pieterduplessis6906 ehm. How can it be the 2024 effect when the effect is the same in 2020? If you watched the sdk livestream u have to do some work in 2024 sdk to enable it.
Speculating on whether or not third party add-ons work based on an alpha where those add-ons were not supposed to be used is not wise. Asobo have been testing backwards compatibility and they are happy with the results.
I will wait quite long, like I did with MSFS2020. My graphic card is a GTX1080 and is not compatible with the new sim. To run well with the new version I should buy a new or half new computer and in this moment their prices are too high. I will wait at least minimum six months.
