I own this watch. I purchased it new from an AD in 2017- it was the first major watch I purchased. For me, it is the perfect watch and I love it dearly. The 39m size is perfect on my 7" wrist. It has been my trusty companion through virtually everything- regular daily life, every deal I ever closed, every date I ever went on with the woman I would eventually marry, and the birth of our daughter. I love its understated elegance, incredible versatility, outstanding comfort (easylink micro adjust is amazing and I use it every time I wear it), and pure class. It is actually currently getting its first service (I miss it!), and I opted to not have it polished- I have come to love the scratches it has accumulated over time and I don't want to lose the sharp edges on the case and bracelet. I love this watch!

Wow. That's quite a story. So many great life events you have with this watch. Thanks for sharing.

Great history in your life with it! How much does the service cost and how long does it take to get back?

    • @bmajor7
      @bmajor7 9 дней назад

@@paulbonaventura4969 Thank you- the service with no polish/refinish through my AD was $700 plus some ancillary cost for some components that need to be replaced due to wear and tear (sapphire, crown, etc) and they said it would be 6-8 weeks. My AD has a watch maker on staff, so the work is being locally as opposed to being shipped to switzerland. For what it's worth I am by no means a high-roller but have been extremely pleased with the service I've received from them.

I put my 2020 39mm on green Everest rubber. I adore that combination. I am gonna get IWC one day.

Nice vídeo sir 👏. I had both the IWC Mark XVIII and the Explorer 39. In the course of my hobby I sold them both and now have a 2004 Explorer 36. In my opinion, it is the perfect all-purpose watch. It is never out of place.
My wrist is 18.5 cm and I look great on it. It is also more comfortable and does not hit anything, because, being so integrated the case is protected by the same wrist.

The 39 is the best explorer, matte dial, 39mm case, dial text is better aligned

Great video. I’ve always liked this watch and been close to pulling the trigger but now leaning more towards the 40mm

yeah i think i prefer the color of the 40mm (in pictures at least!). I do prefer the explorer text lower down on the 39mm though! Like you say, we’re a fussy bunch

I have the combination 224270 and 226570, so the Never and bigger Models. Honestly my Most warn Watches. Love the Style of the Explorer Family. EXP 1 is the real classic. EXP 2 Pops, white and orange, makes me happy everytime wearing it. Great Video.

Your Explorer looks fantastic on your wrist. My wrist just about 16cm and I decided to get the new 36mm, which I love. It wears small and I almost decided to get the 40mm instead as it looked about the same as a 38mm Omega on my wrist but in the end I wanted the classic 36mm size. You can’t go wrong with any Explorer!

I own the same rolex duo, 39mm Explorer MK2 and the Polar Explorer 2, but the latest 226 Orange hand version. Such a killer combo and honesty nothing else needed 😅 (also own the OG BB58 gilt and the Saphire Sandwich Speedy 2021). Next to come 16710 Pepsi and 126610lv MK2 and my journey (hopefully) will be done.

I prefer the 40mm as it's slimmed out the lugs and moved the extra metal to the bracelet hence the 21mm bracelet. Looks more proportional imo.

I had the MKII and really liked it, at 20 mm lug width it was an absolute strap monster. I use the date function too frequently though so I upgraded it to the 116610. Still 20 mm lug width so still a strap monster.

Excellent video buddy! Explorer 40 is my grail watch that I hope one day the AD will call me 😅. I own the Railmaster silver dial (thanks to your recommendation and review). I do own a Tudor Ranger as well. I believe all can co-exist with the explorer if it ever materialize. Cheers neighbor

I have the same collection as you 😅 the 214270 (Mk 2) and 16570 (Polar). These are my 2 favorite Rolexes. I like the older 39mm Explorer, with the Explorer text at the bottom. The newer (and also older) model has the Text on top, making it look top heavy (in my opinion). I might also get a Mk 1 version as I find the tiny "T-Rex" hands hilarious. Hopefully I can source one with a good price in the secondary market.

Had the 214270, it leaned more towards a dress watch feel for me. Sold it and got an Explorer 2 Polar with much more wrist presence and sportier look. One thing though, Rolex makes excellent black dials may it be glossy or matte.

Had the 39 and I never bonded with it. Explorer below the pinion I hated and there is just too much empty space between indicies. I traded it towards the current 36mm which I wear much more. I had the rail master with the dark grey dial and it’s a great piece if you can get by with no micro adjust on the clasp.

You'll love the 40 then as it corrects most of your, all be it not many, complaints. Seldom mentioned in reviews, It finally gives the 'big' Explorer the correct size larger hour hand.

Sell it, get a Spring Drive and be happy with the technical advantage and the much better finishing.
Before somebody starts hating. Have a OP and a SBGA375. Next to each other the 375 is by far better even without the technical aspect.

Nah, 124270 is the best- for the connoisseur. 39mm is for everyone who can’t score a more desirable 40mm Rolex, AP, Patek, or Vacheron.
