Back in the late 90s early 2000s I would have laughed right in someone's face if they said they had a single 3000wrms amp then showed me something that size. Absolutely crazy how far things have come, 98% efficiency... that's borderline magical.

One of the many downsides of old school Class AB amps the horrific size of the amps, the horrific efficiency, etc. Many guys talk up the SQ of Class AB but less than 1% THD is the same if its a Class AB or Class D amp...

Yeah, look at the JBL Crown 6k that came out in 2005-2006. That was a huge amplifier. Now, you look at the same power from amps like this and the Taramps Smart 5k. They seem tiny for the power they put out.

I was calling people idiots last year when they were posting on a site asking if anyone had a used 4k watt amp for sale. I was going to shows when 10k watts was what the PPI van was sporting and had 3" plexi windshield in an astro (ci 1990- 91) , well i guess it was 2 years ago now. Amazing how far (and cheaper) we have progressed

I love these amps, how the call back to the old US Amps and other American companies' heatsink designs and cool anodization colors combined with top-quality Korean halfbridge circuit design and high-quality components. Down4Sound really hit it out of the park with these and I hope they make a crapload of money off these and demonstrate to the rest of the industry that there is strong demand for high quality modern amps with old school looks. Imagine an amp that looks like the PPI Art Series amps or old school Zapco but with fullbridge guts.

It's like JP literally listened to all the complaints about other amp's design flaws and fixed them. First thing I noticed was the spacing between each power and speaker connection. Next was the connections themselves....power and signal. Like you said, these are some of the best looking RCA connectors I've ever seen in car audio. The amp's preamp stage and the adjustments are just plentiful, they are useful!
I know you said the power reminds you of the Orions but to me, the colors and rounded sides, remind me of U.S. Amps and if they decided to made some badass class D amps. I don't know how they could possible compete with these though. I realllllllllyyyyy want to hear a stereo version, 2 or 4 channel and just do some real world good old music listening for testing!
I do not think I'd be let down!

Taramps definitely wins as far as price to power output and the fact that it makes basically 6k at 1 ohm and 2 ohms. Some people don't care about the $$ difference though and they want a nice Korean half bridge they can run at .5 ohm. I can understand that.
