I just bought one for the same reason. I had the JP8 and it was a great amp. I'm running different subs now, needed more power than the JP8 would do, but didn't quite need the power of the JP23. This is EXACTLY what I need!
it's just the opposite of amp companies that overrate their amps for marketing, underrate the amp for marketing for the communities to start bragging about how your amps produce "higher than rated power"
I always like your video's on all the amp's out there. I'm a old school amp person myself and i used to like the alpine V12 amp's. They were very good amp's and run strong back in the day. I also wondering if you could do a short video on a very old home intergrated stereo amplifier. Its the realistic SA-!50. I still use it to this day for my computer speakers and still works well.
D4S JP amps for the win! The only question left is longevity. We seen the test it passed them with flying colors and some. But how brutal can you be on these amps before they fail? They can get pretty hot. So heat disipation is really the only thing I can think of. It's hard to control my excitement when an amp does so well. After being lied to by so many manufacturers 😂
I bought a jp23v1.5 about 2 months ago ....I run a single American bass xr 12 dual 2 with it ....have run it for over an hour at very high volume and it has never got above 120 degrees ....and it was 82 degrees outside that day windows down no air conditioning on ....I have never had it get hot yet ...I do only have the gain at half way ....because thats where my sub seems to be happy with volume all the way up ....
@Donald Wilcox, Jr. Come down to Texas when it's a hundred degrees and plus in the summer they get really hot have two jp23 amplifiers wasn't strong enough for my sundown xv3 12s and ran hot but didn't cut off I'm running a Taramps bass 8k and it doesn't get as hot as them
Great vid, looks like another great JP amp. I'm hearing a lot of complaints about that noisy fan, hopefully that gets updated sooner rather than later.
Luckily, I guess my JP8 is in my trunk slamming my (1) Skar 10” DDX DVC2 in a factory rhino lined enclosure luckily I can’t hear my fan but running at 1 ohm it’s NEVER hot or warm so I know it’s working good!#Down4Sound#JP8👑🔊❤️SkarDDX@DarrenTOdd
Just ordered a JP13 and an Incriminator audio death row 12v3, which is rated for 1750 RMS. I also ordered a JP84 and CT sounds Mesa 6.5 components and coaxial's. I hope this turns out to be a good combo to get my 2 door Jeep Wrangler rocking. I really wanted the D4S components, but I didn't think I could fit the tweeters in my stock locations.
All for $259. Jesus, man! I remember in the '90s where you were paying a dollar per watt! I just bought this baby today :) Gonna run two Alpine R2-W10D4 subs @ 2Ω
JP amps and Down 4 Sound in general are great! Customer service is super fast, if something should go sideways; and shipping is really quick too. I ran a JP23 for about a year with various subs and loved it, but when I switched to four b2 10s in my Ram 1500, I wanted more. So did the 320 alternator, monster AGM under the hood and lto in the back running a JP33…Oh my god! And that’s before I’ve run any rebassed tracks thru it. Bullet proof
@@THELIFEOFPRICE Not for nothing, but 50x4 seems dated. Even something in the realm of 65x4 would help it standout from seemingly an endless supply of alternatives.
@@THELIFEOFPRICE Yeah, or maybe just slightly more. 60-70 x4. I see the JP84 on the site but its 120x4. Its honestly a great price for that amp but something about half that RMS would match really nicely with the new JP3 I would think.
I think you could sell buckets of 75x4 amps honestly. The only thing is that typically people are running 4ohm full range speakers so the 90RMS of the JP84 is actually pretty nice. Im not sure if its possible to do a class AB amp in the same style (constant output or whatever its called) but that would be pretty attractive to me. That amp is a beast!! And its on sale right now for $250!! That is crazy value!
For the power output at 2 ohms, maintaining 88% efficiency is pretty impressive 🤘
really like the full spread of testing at basic (factory) voltage levels 👍
I'm convinced JP is naming these amps after what they do at 2 ohms.

Love these Dyno test, I wish they would put a dyno sheet in with each amp.

The fact that I called it on JP’s channel is absolutely hilarious
Would still love to see more AB amps from d4s.
I’ve been waiting for this video for a while now and it didn’t disappoint
Looks like the JP8 acrylic bottom and fan would work on the JP13 perfectly. Wonder why they used the smaller fan onthe larger amp?
Awesome that it's the same form factor as the JP8. Might have to switch to one at some point if I add more subs.

Wonderfully made amplifier - brings me back to the days of Orion

Will it catch fire over a 30 minute drive.
Would a 240 amp alternator with big 3 and 0 gauge ofc handle this thing well?

Can U please do a GROUD ZERO amp test
Thank you for these videos
Good video Derek..never had any luck with this brand..my taramps smart3 bass never let me down.
How can someone not have any luck with these amps?
Smart 3 is literally a much cheaper made amp
Taramps has a 6% failure rate by their own admission. JP amps are at 1%. Full bridge amps are much less stable and reliable just by their design.
@@timstarnes8587 you do you
Lets see a dyno on that jp72 amp!
I like the 8 ohms test my self. 💪✌️💯🎶🎵🛠️🍻
I am so upset that the 83 I spent 1500 on does not have the bass knob as a amp design
So why is the fan in that spot on the amp?
what is getting hot in that location?
Starting to wish I would have bought one of these instead of the Rockford Fosgate Prime 750 Watt. Love the channel, thanks for doing these tests.
What a great amp but why would they put a smaller fan on a more powerful amp? That makes no sense. Anyways, great video Big D👍🏼👍🏼
I'm guessing didn't have the room for the larger fan so just used what would fit.
Big D, you really should take a long hard look at how JP, and D4S in general, treat their customers. It's well documented all over the web.
These kids watch your videos, see your numbers, and then spend their money. So many of them are getting screwed by D4S and it's never mentioned on your channel.
Don't take my word for it, look it up. Check his return policies, read the reviews from people that receive defective amps.

The amount of free advertising you're doing for him is disappointing.
You said it. Kids.
So you're saying anything a DIY slaps together is warrantable?
when was this released?? i bought the jp23 but this is more or less what i needed 😬😬

How well would this do with us guys with weak electrical. On 12v
Should be great, just tune the amp to the current draw. I will say though every amp install over 1000 watts should do a big 3 first.
It's also always better to run a bigger more powerful amp than you need and turn the gain down than running a smaller amp maxed out to its limit like alot do. You should never see the clipping light come on and if you do turn it down a tad on the gain or invest in a bigger amp.
@@mattburgess2 I believe my cars stock wire for big 3 is 4 gauge already since my battery is located in the trunk it's a 2019 Chevy Cruze

Hi sir this amp tune to 5 or 10 db while testing
For the wattage, $250 is awesome.
These must be full bridge amps?
Sheeeeesh🔥
What excites me about their amps is the frequency response. Most companies rate theirs at 30hz - 18khz.
Big sound is limiting your hearing to only this frequencies! The human ear can hear so much more than that
When that 2000+ hit, I was like "WOOOOOOO!!!" Ric Flair style LOL
I love it

Oh snap, I need to get one asap, hey big D send me that one 🤣
I guess these will never come to europe sadly, shipping and import is more than amp itself
looking at jp3 for my fronts can you test that next?
he already did that one on his other channel =D
What's the damping factor?
U always want to know the answer to this on jp amps and I believe it's over 200 wich is good but not great I prefer 500 for superior control over the woofer.
Still rather buy a Taramps amp.
