I share my Netflix with my whole family my mother my brother my sister and my brother's kids I have been doing this for the past 5 years if this means that now I can't share my passwords with my family there is simply no need for me to have the premium Netflix at all I will simply downgrade or cancel ❌

You can still find ways to share your password, as long as all the devices and places that log into the account are verified by the owner of the account, and you guys collaborate times that you log onto the account.

I am in the same position. I called Netflix and you have to go past the first level of phone rep - to a supervisor. I have done that twice, and my family members are using their Netflix on my account, event though they don't physically live under the same roof and share my ISP address. It is easy to do, and takes little time. I'm sure Netflix included this workaround for customers who actually started the cancellation process, like me. It was only then that they told me how to get around it - legally. A word of warning - if you don't get this resolved the frist tme you call, call again. The first time I got a supervisor, she told me the wrong info. The second supervisor I talked to today knew what he was taling about, and the problem was solved at no cost to me or my family member.

My son spends half his time in a different state. He has it listed as a vacation home. We have agreed that if Netflix cuts him off when he’s there we will boycott it. We only use it on two different devices at a time which is rare. I don’t think it’s taking advantage of the system when it’s just two people using it. If Netflix gets that greedy yes I’ll cancel it.

Screw Netflix, I was already paying money as part of a family agreement plan. Now they want me to pay eight more dollars so I can have it on my own television, and I'll top I still have my account with the family. Southgate cost me just as much as a regular subscription which was not worth it because of the content. So unless they're going to remove some of the woke content in produce Orchid better stuff like movies we all know, I don't think I'm going to be using it on this television anymore. I have Hulu, hbomax, and other streaming services that don't care if you share between households.

I will resubscribe when they have something that I want to see and binge watch it so I can cancel again. There may be a way around this by adding Netflix to another streaming service, but I really don't know. I see this as an overreach suggested by a power craving, brown nosing, middle management type with control issues. lol. Yes, I will boycott Netflix until they have more reasonable terms. That's the only way to provoke them into a more rational mindset. Vote with your $ and they will listen. The only other option is to let them walk all over you with restrictions and price hikes.

I still don't understand how they can determine if people are sharing accounts. If I go away to visit family, are these algorithms determining that because I'm not accessing it from my own home, that the system knows that I, myself, is accessing it from a different location?! When we travel I have to entertain three kids of different ages, plus entertain myself if I choose to - so how exactly does this password sharing lockdown really work? I logged in from my personal computer - does Netflix realize it is still my personal device?!

It's to get more money, the same way cable tv services group the content of their tiers so you're forced to pay a higher price to get the one or two channels they didn't include in basic tier. They study user's patterns, them create theirs to make the most money.

he logged in a few years ago and never logged out. and i never log out. he told me if i want to watch something i can do so.
then early this year whne talked about sharing, i saw the thing about logging in at least every 30 days which i do.
and this past Thursday and Saturday June 8th 1n 10th i watched the final 9 of 10 episoes of the show manifest. it was 130 ams Sun June 11th when i relaize d1 hour more would be a lot.
so i logged in 9-930am sudan morning.
to watch the last episode. last of the seires actaully.
but i noticed when i was ready to log in i heard a beep inthe house. and went to my room a few minutes later seeing the power must have gone out for 1 seconds whil i was likely trying to login. but the rest of the day yesterday even at that moment i got the mesage about "this TV is not in the household" so not sure what is going on.
i left my brother a message but he hasn't called me yet.
does that mean they just cracked down suddenly yesterday? was it hte power outage? was it something else?

Most domestic Internet connections have randomly assigned IP addresses which change from time to time, like after a power cut or a disconnection. So tying it to an IP address isn’t going to work is it? Every time your IP address changes you have to go through this rigmarole again? I hope not.

I live at a different address during the week and the weekend, both homes are mine (in my name). Of course they both have a different internet connection and it does work fine, except that Netflix wants me to pay for sharing. Having two home addresses seems to be too hard for them... I'm not going to pay twice just to use the same account at my second home and I told them, but they keep bugging me.
I'll see where this ends, if they unsubscribe me for refusing, it's back to Usenet being the more convenient option I suppose...

I just had a brief power outage and when this happens I usually get a new external IP address because I don’t pay for a static IP address through my ISP. My SmartTV immediately complained about not being in the same household. Adding it back takes 2 seconds via a email/SMS verification, but this is going to be bloody annoying if I need to repeat this process each time I get a new IP address especially if I’m not at home and my wife and kids wants to watch Netflix on the SmartTV. 😤

  • @MatildaRabbit
    @MatildaRabbit Год назад +2

LEAVING NETFLIX. They not only did that, but they went up on the price AND decreased the number of simultaneous streams. I was already paying for the top tier for my kids to watch. I rarely watched it myself. It reminds me of when AT&T made me pay for a certain price tier of minutes in order to earn the opportunity to pay for a data plan. See where I'm going there? It's a stupid model, and I left as soon as I could. I now have a data plan WITHOUT a phone plan. I didn't need minutes, just data. Likewise, Netflix is forcing you to buy a tier with multiple streams that you don't need in order to have the opportunity to buy outside streams. Which is a totally stupid model when you have so many other competitors. I'm leaving Netflix and will be watching plenty of Discovery, Paramount, Peacock, Hulu, Prime, Acorn, and tons of other streams that don't charge $10 for ONE stream. The only thing that would come close to Netflix's 2-stream model for $15.49 would be HBOMax, which has now merged with Discovery, so the $15.99 plan there would allow me to drop a separate Discovery+. You're getting an entire package and not just ONE service. Although the crack-down on sharing with my family members is really annoying, the main reason I am leaving is due to price increases, reduced number of streams, and content. I can watch something better somewhere else without getting the harassing emails and messages on my tv.

Yes i share it with my sister but we share paying for it too... what they should do is limit the device that can use the account... they got greedy... switching to other streaming app
