Basically, Ricky had a bad home life and was literally thrown out through the door. He and his buddy come from the edge of town, not even a nice part of town. So Ricky and his friend are homeless and start drinking (keeps his motor running, but doesn’t keep it clean), they find a gun and start playing with it, shooting alcohol bottles and whatnot. Accidents happen when you mix alcohol and firearms. “Accidents will happen, they all heard Ricky say, he fired his six shot to the wind, that child blew a child away!” Ricky goes to prison for the murder of his friend for a life sentence at only 18 years old.
It was a mistake that he regret for rest of his life being foolish and wild mixing alcohol with it didn't help losing his best friend as his own freedom just as well...

Speaking of the crazy Uncle, Accept "Midnight Mover" drove him crazy back in the '80s. A whole room full of flame level counters and shoe interpreters stopped in complete silence and motion for a few minutes when that video came on.
This is how some of us grew up and Skid Row told the story. If I could go back in time then I would go to the 80s. This is what we would blast while in a mood speeding down the freeway in the middle of the night just thinking and jamming
I have listened to this song many, many times, but the bridge, solo and the final screams still give me chills. With the theme going on, it feels like Bach's scream is mourning Ricky's innocence. It again gives me chills every time.
You should listen to "I'll never let you go " by Steelheart. Dude hits the highest note I have ever heard a man hit. Also, can't forget about Beastie Boys!
You turn 18 and life changes......life to go. Years after my brother and I survived that change, my sister told me this song described our lives. She lived on the the east coast and we on the west.....waiting for that call of one us dead or in jail. I'm happy to say we both have done well since then. It's not easy growing up in a house that splits over alcoholism and no money. My poor mom went through a lot, but we made sure her life changed for the better too. Skid Row wrote a timeless song with that one.
My first intro to Skid Row. Had to rely on watching MTV at a friend's house, so I never saw Youth until much later. I was hooked immediately. Skid row was one of the hardest "hair metal" bands from the 80s to actually have substance in their lyrics (well... not all songs... and other bands had some too). But the writing (music and lyrics), the chops of the entire band, and obviously those vocals.... not to mention a killer live band.... makes me miss the 80s. But then, coming up was PJ, Alice, Soundgarden, etc.... so many great bands pre-2000... what happened!?!?! Mr. Video... I'm sure you've already heard this... but check out anything from their 2nd album... "Wasted Time", "Monkey Business", "Slave to the Grind", "Quicksand Jesus"...
Love Skid Row. Especially that amazing voice, classically trained and can sing 4 octaves! For some reason the song today reminded me of white lion, that you could really react to. Their songs Wait and When the Children Cry. Peace
Skid Row was a great band who appeared on the hair band stage too late. By the time they appeared, grunge was in the process of usurping the throne, but they sure made their mark before it happened. Sebastian Bach has such an incredible voice and that guitar is amazing.

Laura Branigan was the one of the female singers called "The Queen of Eurodisco" in 80's. Best dancing hits are Gloria, Self Control (especially that one, because of an epic music video), Solitaire, Moonlight On Water, etc... But she also was one of the best in singing ballads. You may check How Am I Supposed To Live Without You (the most emotional live version was probably performed at Caesar Tahoe, 1984), Power Of Love (very well performed at Martes 13, 1987, if I'm not mistaken), How Can I Help You Say Goodbye (no live videos on youtube yet, but studio version is epic too), I Know You By Heart (possible to find live recordings on youtube), etc...
I had a girlfriend during this period that hardly ate. I think she was completely sustained by Guns and Roses and Skid Row for at least a year. These songs got drilled into my skull. Oh, I'm so glad you finally found Skid Row! This is my all time favorite from them. MTV played this video on almost a constant loop as it was their breakout hit song. In his prime, Sebastian Bach was prettier than many women back then. I remember when he was on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine. Ladies standing in line at the grocery store; feasting their eyes, getting red in the face as their ovaries exploded. :-) Plus he had one hell of a voice for rock music, he can belt out those metal screams. Skid Row songs to check out next - I remember you (off the chain vocals on that one & my 2nd all time favorite song), Youth gone wild, Piece of me, Sweet little sister, Monkey business, Wasted time, Rattlesnake shake, Can't stand the heartache, Quicksand Jesus, & In a darkened room By the way the video does go with the lyrics. Ricky gets thrown out of his house as he's always been a hard case, getting into trouble & such. So he hits the streets, living the carefree life, drinking & partying, then one night while drunk (?) he accidently shoots his best friend. He goes to prison at age 18 and life (sentence) to go.
I saw them front row one time and was singing along, and I belted out and held that final high note out LOUD for a split second longer than Sebastian held it, and he heard me and looked down pointed at me and said aye 😎 Hahaha you gotta be a musician man... I have an eye for my own. 😂
Basically, Ricky had a bad home life and was literally thrown out through the door. He and his buddy come from the edge of town, not even a nice part of town. @@sombergirl2886 Shake me! Dont know what ya got. Night moves! Good stuff!
@@mikecomstock1602 yes Tom Kiefer has a very unique voice I'm just glad that he got his voice back & was able to keep on singing it was a rough road for awhile but he overcame it
@@sombergirl2886 He nearly lost his voice completely even to speak .... his voice is totally different these days, it still is recognisable as him but it’s mellowed and changed a lot too. The good thing is that he is still great live and puts on a good show with a mix of solo and Cinderella songs ....
@@Islendingar yes I know i remember getting metal edge magazine & reading about all the surgeries & having to retrain his voice
That child blew a child away 18 and Life
Oh, I'm so glad you finally found Skid Row!
Skid Row songs to check out next - I remember you (off the chain vocals on that one & my 2nd all time favorite song), Youth gone wild, Piece of me, Sweet little sister, Monkey business, Wasted time, Rattlesnake shake, Can't stand the heartache, Quicksand Jesus, & In a darkened room
By the way the video does go with the lyrics.
Last concert I went to before Covid! Sebastian Bach! He still has the pipes!
Skid Row rocks it on Monkey Business. You will be amazed at the notes Sebastian Bach can hit.
