My very first TMNT action figure that I ever had was Raphael, which I received from a Christmas gift exchange when I was in preschool back in 1990, and I was able to own just a few others afterwards including Raph The Space Cadet, Rock 'N Roll Michelangelo, and Metalhead.

I appreciate you watching the video. I’m glad you enjoyed it and maybe even learned something. I’m not the biggest expert of them, but I do enjoy collecting them when I can find them for a good deal.
I had literally every single TMNT figure and vehicle, from back then. My whole collection was thrown away by my mom during a move. Still haven't forgotten or forgiven. Probably never will, because of what it would cost to replace it all today.
I can’t remember what year it was I think 1992 or 93 my great grandma took me to Kay bee toys I was so excited and I seen a lot of teenage mutant ninja turtle toys I grabbed the michelangelo action figure which is my favorite TMNT I was so happy my grandma got it for me and it was a memorable time for me as a kid I was like 6 or 7. Good times! My first TMNT action figure was shredder which oddly enough is my favorite villain
Thanks for watching the video and that’s definitely an iconic memory from your childhood. Sounds like your grandma was a pretty awesome person. Also, just imagine going to the store again and being able to see all those turtles figures on the racks we won’t ever be able to do that again, but we will always have the memories, thanks for sharing your story and thanks for watching my video. I also made a part two that talks about the four bad guys from 1988. Also, you can check that one out on my RUclips.
You are a hero! The only turtle I had was Donatello, and when I saw it the box almost cry! Beautiful memories, especially about these turtles...don't know why. Thank you for sharing this video!
Hey man, thank you for watching! I’m glad it was able to take you back to a simpler time. I had Donatello when I was a kid also. I always loved his bo staff! Such a cool weapon
I loved Bebop. He was my favourite baddy. I loved the colours on the figurine. But he was the hardest to find. I finally found it at a target in 1994. I was so happy.
I felt the same. Also he’s incredibly hard to find nowadays to him, and the footsoldier are definitely the most valuable and harder wants to find for some reason I always loved the way he looked in his sculpt on this toy. Thanks for watching my video, my friend.
Thanks a lot. I appreciate you watching the entire video also thank you for the kind words about my friend he was a cool dude I still think about him all the time but I appreciate you showing the respect I hope you enjoy my other videos I have some more Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles videos coming out soon.
Great video! I have a question tho if anyone can help, I have most of the 10 back 88 figures in packaging but how do I know if my 4 turtles have rubber heads? Obviously I’m not taking them out of the packaging to find out
@@ETIKUT99 well first I’d like to say thanks for watching my video. I do appreciate the support as for hard heads or soft heads one main way to see the difference in them is to just look at the head usually the plastic heads they’re molded together and you can see a seal line that brings both parts of the head together usually in the middle almost look like they had surgery and it’s kind of like stitches, but it’s where they formed the two pieces of plastic together as for soft heads usually they almost have a different look than the plastic ones almost like a small haze of fuzz on themif that makes sense certain figures never came in a soft head though so if you have that figure and it only came in a plastic head that’s the only version
@ well based off your info, I’m pretty sure I have 4 rubber heads, they are slightly different colour to the bodies and have like a glaze over them plus no joint, thanks for your help

@@RetroReminiscence I brought the 4 main turtle figures in packaging back in 2001, they cost me £17 each, I guess that was money well spent, back in 1998 I started to re buy all my childhood toys again, I kept hold of some since 1982 but most just seem to disappear, I never know where they all went, I guess you grow up and move onto other things, luckily I started buying it all back just before eBay and the internet told people what they were worth, most the toys I found at car boots sales for like 20p or 50p.
I’m blown away by your knowledge and collection. Love hearing about your childhood ❤️ Your videos just keep getting better. RIP Brandon Gogel...you are missed brother ❤️

I freaking love the original playmates line. I do like the original movie better because it’s more dark, but that sweet ass vanilla ice cameo ALWAYS got me hype back in the day.
Great video! I am 42 years old and also grew up with these amazing toys. It’s so cool to see that they are reselling them again in the stores and their original form and packaging! Glad to be recollecting them since I lost all mine in a divorceyears ago😢
Hey, first of all thanks for watching my video. I appreciate you leaving a comment. Also, you’re the same age as me and I still collect them also so there’s nothing wrong with that plus like you said finding them in stores nowadays just gives you that cool feeling that you had when you were a kid when you went to the store saw sitting on the pegs, I’m glad you’re building up your collection. Don’t forget I got a part two that talks about the four bad guys also thanks for watching my friend.
I appreciate your kinds words, and thank you for watching my video. I should make a new one about the 89 figures but been slacking 😂 but I really do thank you for watching
I remember going to toys r us as a kid and going to the ninja turtles section and being in absolute aw of the beautiful figures. They were some of the best figures ever made.

Great video. I have a bunch of these old figures that were passed down from my oldest brother in a box somewhere in my mom's basement. One of these days I will dig them out and check them out again. I really loved the last minute snippet at the end of the video. Hits home. RIP Brandon.
I liked this one! Talk about all the toys in your collection if you want, and I'll watch every video. I can tell you're passionate about them, and I like that.
Thanks man! Yea I have other toys I would love to talk about but I know most of my subs want retro video game videos. But I will continue to do toy stuff also. I love toys.
Another awesome video sir! Loved the turtles definitely a fan favorite, and this video sparked some childhood memories for sure! Thank you for that! Love the channel, keep grinding sir! RIP Brandon
I remember I could never find the Shredder from the original lineup around 88'. The one day I found him at a store called Sprouse-Ritz, I didn't have any allowance money. So I hid him way behind some overstock boxes of some other product. Went back a week or so later and he was still there where I stashed him. Greatest feeling ever as a little kid! 🐢❤
I’m glad my video reminded you of an awesome memory you had of picking up shredder as a kid one time I did that exact same thing with a couple of G.I. Joe figures and when I went back, the figures I put in there were gone and they were replaced with two stupid figures that I didn’t want 😂
Nice video. I remember April was pretty rare back in the day. I only found her once at an Ames department store. Sorry about your friend, man. In honor of your coworker, I'll get a cancer screening the next time I have a Dr visit.
Yea she was tough to find. They only had 2 of her in a shipping box compared to the -4-6 for the other figures. So yea she’s Tough to find. As for the screening I would definitely get one done. It sucks but it could save your life man. Thanks for watching bro.
Thanks for the video, I recently found a mint on card unpunched rat king figure and I want to take care of it, can you let me know where you got the plastic protective cases? Thank you

Absolutely brilliant video you have made here. Your figures are beautiful. Watching this I actually felt butterflies in my gut and reminiscing about playing the ninja turtles on the NES… so cool. I really appreciate that you care so much, you have a true love and respect for your figures. And it’s beautiful. One day I hope to meet you so I can Thankyou in person and chat like we are back in 1990. Wonderful video and I am just glad that someone like you cares for the turtles like we all care for the turtles. The figures are worth a bit, but they are almost 50 years old.. so they should. first off I want to say thank you for watching my video. I really do appreciate it and I felt like I put a ton of effort into it to make it as good as I could and second I do love the ninja Turtles in my opinion it’s the greatest action figure line of all time those first couple years in the line were absolutely incredible so I really do appreciate you saying those kind words I can tell you’re a huge fan of the turtles also. That would be so cool to meet you and chitchat about the ninja Turtles if you have any interest, I plan on doing more videos like this for 1989 and 1990 figures also but I do already have a video on the channel about the remaining figures from 1988 here’s the link if you’d like to check it out and again, thank you very much for the kind words. ruclips.net/video/XkteubyAmfY/видео.htmlsi=yDPwmNm0Y9xE60_H
Leo was my favorite turtle from the first cartoon. I never have liked Raph except the first cartoon. He got to bad attitude for me from the first movie on. Mikey has always been lovable and Donnie has always been the brains and just like the rest the first cartoon versions are the best. Great review all around. Just found this channel and its great.
Hey, I really appreciate you watching my video and thank you for the kind words I’m just a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan I don’t know everything about him but I thought I’d make a little video trying to explain what I didn’t know. A lot of people said I made mistakes in the video but that’s OK I’m not an expert I just really enjoyed him from my childhood and wanted to show my love by making a video about the first couple years of figures that came out. I still need to do 1989 and 1990 also
I definitely remember those cartoon commercials for the toys.. good use of visuals and man, I’ve absolutely considered getting into some figures.. loved those TMNT figures and some power rangers too.. then went down the rabbit hole of seeing all the happy meal toys, which are really freaking cool
Funny you should mention them. I thought about doing a small video showcasing the toys and happy meal boxes that were released during the 1989 promotion. Thanks for watching man. I really appreciate the support.
Retro Reminiscence absolutely man, of course! I actually just did the Mega Man 3 video comparing NES and Genesis, which I think you will really enjoy too so I hope to see what you think on it when you can! We gotta look out! And nice job continuing to pack on subs!
Actually Leonardo does have a couple of variants. His are the same as all the other Turtles *Soft head Variant no Flyer *Hard Head Variant no Flyer *Soft Head with Fan Club Flyer
Yes, I appreciate you letting me know that. I don’t have any of those unfortunately but I’m grateful to have what I do have. Some of those variants now are crazy prices! But I want to say I appreciate you watching my channel and video. Hope you enjoyed the video.
@@RetroReminiscence for the 4 turtles mine are 1. Leonardo Hard head no flyer 2. Donatello Soft head no flyer 3. Raphael Hard Head no flyer 4. Michelangelo soft head w.flyer It took me a good while to finally get Michelangelo with that particular variant at a somewhat decent price at just over $200 last year. The other Turtles I acquired three or four years ago and I swear I didn't pay more than 60 bucks a pop for. They really have skyrocketed in the last 2 years.
I get my protectors from a place called toy shield I’m pretty sure you can just type in toyshield.com and Google and it’ll give it to you pretty good deal but sometimes he’s out of stock so you gotta check back often but well worth the price because they do protect very well
@@Talk_is_Cheap_Vol_3 that’s so cool! I’m glad they came out with the classic with ones for people who want to feel of vintage without the high price tags. Awesome!
I’m sorry for the late reply. There are 2 big companies that make protectors for them. One is called zolo world, and the other is toy shield. I use the toy shield ones.
Thanks buddy! Nothing wrong with the 2021 remakes. I actually have the 4 turtles, blimp, and turtle van. They look great and are a great substitute for the vintage because the vintage figures are insanely priced now a days.
Thanks man, I’m glad you liked the video. I been in that boat before and it’s never fun. The logo is really sick. I like it also. Cartoon me, classic haha
@@jackieramirez1674 it was 2010 they had sat in storage bins for about 4 years with no on really enjoying them because I didn’t have a proper way to display them and I thought at the time I was done with the hobby and no longer cares to collect them. Hindsight is 2020
Thank you very much my friend. I put a lot of work into it even though it isn’t the best edited video. I’m just a fan that grew up with them but I plan on making a video for 1989 and 1990 also I just haven’t got around to it yet. I do have a part two that shows the bad guys from 1988 if you’re interested in watching that also
@@RetroReminiscence I’ll watch it for sure brother. I just got in the remake movie star turtles from early 90s and I love them. The only downside to them is they are not as rubbery as they were back then. I’m getting the bad guys in tomorrow. I really hope they rerelease a technodrome or the sewer vehicles.
Thanks man! I’m glad you are enjoying the different content. I know most come here for the video games, but I really like the toy scene also. Plus it’s cool to learn about the different toy lines.
Retro Reminiscence definitely! I know the Star Wars lines pretty well but had t appreciated the intricacies of the turtles figures. Looking forward to the next one 👍
I honestly don’t know, but I think in 88 they had 2 versions. The club flyer versions, and the ones without the flyer. It’s just a little white piece of paper included inside that was promoting the fan club.
@@RetroReminiscence I really really really want the undercover raphael on card. It is my favorite figure (it reminding me of the first movie). They should not of done an undercover for the other 3 , that is Raphael character.
Yea I may be wrong on that. I’m a big fan of them but I’m also not an expert. So it may have been 1983. If so thank you for the info, and thanks for watching the video. I made a part 2 also that you can find on my RUclips.
If you’re a fan of the TMNT, you need to get the Adidas X Superstar Shelltoe shoes. A Turtle variant, a Splinter variant and a Shredder variant - all bubble packed like action figures. I have the Turtle pair and they’re so cool. I just need to get the other two now.
That’s awesome! I love TMNT also. I planned on doing a video for 89 and 90 also. It’s a lot but I do love collecting them! Which ones did you have growing up? Which ones were your favorite
@@RetroReminiscence i used to have the hard head ninja turtles in your video, storage shell ninja turtles, movie star ninja turtles, and various others.

Damn, that's unfortunate to hear about your friend. I've lost family members to cancer as well and it's never an easy thing to take in. Like...you know the day is coming but you don't know when. I really hope things get better from here on out. On a happier note, my favorite Ninja Turtles action figure is the Playmates version of Slash. He just looks so cool with those claws and sword. Like an evil version of Leonardo. As far as I know that version was not in any of the comics or cartoon and is what the TMNT 3/Turtles in Time Slash is based off of.
Yea I’m just glad he isn’t suffering anymore. He was a great guy who was just dealt a shitty hand in life. He didn’t smoke, or drink. He just got unlucky. But the Slash you are talking about is from 1990. He has a couple variants also. If I get there I will explain them in the video. He’s an awesome character. And yes, he’s actually in TMNT 4 turtles in time. But the other versions were based off the cartoon.
@@RetroReminiscence Oh I totally get it. Being a CIB collector, I know about NES variants and that unpunched hangtabs are worth more. It's a deep rabit hole for sure.

Yes, that’s the original version that they put out in the United States for the cartoon. I’m sure the Australian version is different because they would always switch different songs for different regions for some reason but yes, that is the original song and I appreciate you watching my video I plan on doing a 1989 and a 1990. Also I just haven’t got around to it but I do have a 1988 part two that shows the bad guys if you wanna watch that.
@@RetroReminiscence yeah sweet as man I’ll check them out, theme songs the same just a different voice over, keep up the videos really enjoying them, cheers from Aus, excuse the name it’s my old gamer tag on PS
Yes that’s true, that’s how I felt also. When the cartoon was made, they didn’t want to make one or the other turtle better or worse because it would hurt sales of the weaker turtle. So they just made them the same but with different personalities. But I always thought Raphael was the best fighter. Thanks for watching I really appreciate it
I do have some Ghostbusters, but they are from the remakes that they did a couple years ago. I don’t have any of the vintage ones. I wish I did those things look awesome.
I honestly have no idea. I know last time I looked just the turtles were hundreds of dollars which sucks since it prices out people who can’t afford such high prices of stuff. That’s awesome you have a set also. They look really good hung up on a wall. Thanks for watching man

They hold a special place in my heart and I plan on making more videos like this one for 1989 figures so stay tuned for that.
Thanks man, I don’t have any silver hawks but I did get some at a yard sale way back when I was small. I liked them. The show was cool too but didn’t last long.
Nice video man! So sorry to hear about your friend. Cancer sucks man, that's all I can say. As far as the toys go, I got all Michelangelo and Shredder at Ames in October or November of 1988 and the other three turtles that Christmas. Michelangelo was my favorite turtle too. Funny enough, I had all 5 of the package backs until 18 years ago! I had them in an old shoe box with a couple old issues of Game Players Magazine and the 1992 swimsuit edition of Inside Sports. When my now wife and I were moving my mom from one apartment to another the box wound up in a pile of boxes to be burned! Haha! Oh well! About the movie. Didn't they give a nod to the creators in an odd way? At the end when the police chief askes the punks "What the hell is goin' on here?" The kid tells him to check out the East warehouse over at the Lairdman island and he'd find his answers there. Wasn't that a play on Eastman and Lairds name?
I appreciate your kindness buddy. He was a great dude who has to go to early. He will be missed. But for the reference, yes that was a little throw back to the original creators I’m pretty sure. Thanks for watching. I hope you like the content
Actually, your first comment is technically inaccurate. The look of the first 88 released turtles, including the box art, is actually based on the Mirage look to the characters not the cartoon. The cartoon was developed in order to sell those toys. The look from the cartoon they’re smiling and goofy, look at the figures faces on the toys and the packaging … they’re gritting their teeth, they are lean and mean like the Mirage source material and not round and puffy like the 87 cartoon. It’s more based on the Mirage comics. They eventually I think released more cartoon accurate versions. But that’s always why the first release turtles look so much more bad ass than they actually did in the cartoon. The whole tone of the two different looks are way different. You should look into getting the newly released 88 remastered figures that just came out at Walmart, they have superior articulation and they gave the turtles a really cool realistic turtle like texture.
I appreciate the correction. I never claimed to be an expert on TMNT I just wanted to show the figures and differences between them. I bought some of the new figures then decided to just collect the vintage ones since I had those as a young child. But they are a great way to collect without the huge price tag of the originals. I appreciate the comment and for watching my video.

I appreciate you watching the video my friend and I’m glad you got some information that you didn’t know out of it. Thanks for watching my channel also I’m a huge ninja turtles fan so I actually made a part two to this and talked about all the bad guys from 1988 also it’s on my channel if you want to check it out it’s just like this video.
TMNT are truly timeless. The toys were great and the TMNT II Secret of the Ooze movie was my favorite as a kid. Great video man.
Great video bud! Sorry for the loss of your friend!

I remember going to toys r us as a kid and going to the ninja turtles section and being in absolute aw of the beautiful figures. They were some of the best figures ever made.
Yes! I just remember that bright green popping off the package when I saw them sitting on the pegs. Such an amazing time to be a kid. I appreciate you watching my video and I hope you enjoyed it

Had to give you hell today at work, but you know it was in good fun. The TMNT commercial brought back crazy nostalgia! Good show. RIP Brandon.
Yea TMNT were the beez knees when I was growing up! So classic!! Thanks for watching
Great video. I have a bunch of these old figures that were passed down from my oldest brother in a box somewhere in my mom's basement. One of these days I will dig them out and check them out again. I really loved the last minute snippet at the end of the video. Hits home. RIP Brandon.
Thanks man, I wanted to do something so I felt like that was a good way to get my point across. Sell me those figures haha
RIP Brandon
Robby Parkinson I appreciate it bro!
Yeah, I could never find April.

I still need to do 1989 and 1990 also
@@RetroReminiscence my channel I show crafts I make. I make tmnt toys from paper. Tmnt is my favorite thing of all time.
His are the same as all the other Turtles
*Soft head Variant no Flyer
*Hard Head Variant no Flyer
*Soft Head with Fan Club Flyer
Yes, I appreciate you letting me know that. I don’t have any of those unfortunately but I’m grateful to have what I do have. Some of those variants now are crazy prices! But I want to say I appreciate you watching my channel and video. Hope you enjoyed the video.
@@RetroReminiscence for the 4 turtles mine are
1. Leonardo Hard head no flyer
2. Donatello Soft head no flyer
3. Raphael Hard Head no flyer
4. Michelangelo soft head w.flyer
It took me a good while to finally get Michelangelo with that particular variant at a somewhat decent price at just over $200 last year. The other Turtles I acquired three or four years ago and I swear I didn't pay more than 60 bucks a pop for. They really have skyrocketed in the last 2 years.
Question, where can I purchase the protective Plastic covers? You have a link for them? ,TIA
I get my protectors from a place called toy shield I’m pretty sure you can just type in toyshield.com and Google and it’ll give it to you pretty good deal but sometimes he’s out of stock so you gotta check back often but well worth the price because they do protect very well

How many variants of raefael is there?
I honestly don’t know, but I think in 88 they had 2 versions. The club flyer versions, and the ones without the flyer. It’s just a little white piece of paper included inside that was promoting the fan club.
@@RetroReminiscence I really really really want the undercover raphael on card. It is my favorite figure (it reminding me of the first movie). They should not of done an undercover for the other 3 , that is Raphael character.

Was that the original music to the start of the OG turtles? Sounds a lot different to the Australian version
Yes, that’s the original version that they put out in the United States for the cartoon. I’m sure the Australian version is different because they would always switch different songs for different regions for some reason but yes, that is the original song and I appreciate you watching my video I plan on doing a 1989 and a 1990. Leo in the 1984 comic book by Eastman and Laird was a much more evolved character than his 1987 counterpart and so are later version too!

I know he isn’t a original but I also got Casey Jones lol
Yea he’s one of my favorites also. I actually have 2 of him carded.
Our Generation Felt EVERY WORD You Said! 🥲
Thanks my friend 🙏 I appreciate you taking the time to watch my video and comment on it. I hope you got some use outta it. Thank you again.
