  • 1yr owner review (not sponsored) of Pros/Cons/Problems of the GE Ultrafast Combo Smart Washer & Dryer machine. I highlight why we got it to replace our individual washer and natural gas dryer, things we like and dislike about it, problems we've seen and how we've fixed them as well as how I integrate it to my smart home ran by Home Assistant and have it announce things on Google devices when it is done.

    That is awesome that you know about the modification that needs to be done for the filter.

    Have had mine nearly as long and for the first time ever I am free from the drudgery of laundry. I don’t have a schedule any more and everything gets washed and put away so no laundry piles up. It washes better than any machine I’ve ever had and I always have bought high end. Really curious how everyone else is liking it or not. Our laundry closet has a 2 story vertical run for the dryer vent, the primary reason for trying this machine because it was up to me to clean it twice a year because paying a professional to do it was $400+ a pop and most workers refused to go on the roof.
    The lint trap works great for us, no more maintenance than the old dryer lint trap and is a bit easier because I don’t have to bend down to get it out. I have the identical lint spots on the inside and didn’t add any gasket - I suspect only that one small area gets lint on it and it doesn’t look any different from week 2 to nearly a year later so I don’t expect any problem from it. Dries everything every time so I’m happy thus far.
    The controls are simple and visible and don’t lack anything. I can glance down the hallway upstairs and see the color of the dial to know it it’s still washing or nearly dried, and my Apple Watch alerts me when it’s 5 minutes left and finished. I’m excited to see competition out there now but GE put everything at eye level and made it all work well, I haven’t seen anything better yet. This thing is so wonderful it could die every five years and I”d just replace it because it’s given me my valuable time back. It just works. Toss in laundry, shut door, push button, come back and it’s all fluffy and warm and wrinkle free whether it’s just finished or has been tumbling on wrinkle care for hours.

    I'm in a condo my utility room is from the 1980s. Have a washer on one end dryer opposite side of the room. I always had an upright washer too. When my washer breaks I think I would like that washer. I bet ge will redesign the lint filter. I bet they are going to have a new redesigned unit soon. I love watching your channel because you have a lot of interesting projects. I'm a gadget NERD 😅😅😅

    Any specs on energy consumption for a full wash and dry? Vs a two machine set up? Thanks

    I am wondering if you have had to clean the drain hose in the back? I have two cats and my filter in front needs to be cleaned every wash. Maybe I also need to add that tape to my filter as well. i now have an error code 353.

      @NaterTater  4 дня назад

      @kennyzail6224 that's a lot of cat hair! I would guess the heat exchanger is clogged, use a flashlight and look in there with the link filter pulled out. The fault code 353 on a GE Profile UltraFast Combo Washer/Dryer can indicate a clogged heat exchanger, critical compressor overheating, or a restriction in the drain area: clogged heat exchanger, critical compressor overheating, and restriction in the drain area.

    Question: I am researching this model and saw a comment that the heat pump technology creates a "dampness" in the room. Have you noticed any heat or humidity difference in your laundry room with the combo unit?

    • @NaterTater
      @NaterTater  19 дней назад

      @kathysmith1159 it does not. It's a closed system and no air or dampness is expelled from the machine.

    I bought one last fall. I wanted one with the least amount of space and hassle for my cabin. Thus I have not use it a lot but when I have used it it has been totally awesome. Please note that there is a wrinkle care setting that will keep your clothes tumbled so they don’t wrinkle up. I think it works for up to eight hours but I’m not sure.
    I am definitely going to add the foam seal. Plus another guy watched used food grade silicone gasket maker to make a seal between the foam filter housing and the overall housing. The more dust you block the better!

      yes good point. I did try the wrinkle care back when new and I dont think it actually worked. As in the feature wasn’t active. But i never tried it since then and did a few software updates so its probably active now. You're the 2nd person to mention it!

    2 of these might be better than 1 washer and 1 dryer since you can't wash and 2 loads simultaneously with only 1 washer and one dryer but you can apparently with 2 of these.

      That is a potential and we might add one upstairs to accomplish that.
