Ronnie James Dio was and still is one of the vocal GOAT’s - he could ballad, belt, opera … Glad your discovering Dio. Check out Don’t talk to strangers live in around 2003 and Rainbow Stargazer live in 76
My mom took me to see dio in 2003. Moorhead opened, then dio, then iron maiden headlined. I got to see lemmy kilmister, ronnie james dio, & bruce Dickinson all sing in one night with my mom. Unforgettable.
I think one of Dio's best-written songs he has ever done. It really gets you into his storytelling and his singing never fails you. My favorite version of this is when he was with Sabbath. Tony might not be the speedy shredder but his tone and depth are unmatched it is what is missing when any other guitarist does it. I am not making fun of the others but that element is missing. DIO means God in Italian more of his stage name. He was born with the name Ronald James Padavona. Sadly, I was crying the day he died and I'm not alone on this one and he is still missed.
Ronnie James Dio, has a wonderful history of singing. You would be surprised at his beginning. Such different songs. His evolution in music is amazing.
@@89801wink Yeah Dio was often best live, not that he was second to none in the studio. I wouldnt say that this is the best live rendition he has done and i dont like that they cut the song in pieces like that either, the Black Sabbath live video from 1980 or so is way better and i think there are other live videos where this is better as well.
I was fortunate enough to see him live as my first rock show on the Sacred Heart tour. I don’t think there’s anyone today who can make you feel like he did. I once saw an article that described him as the strange, but wise and caring uncle we all wish we had, while the hair bands were like the guys who graduated and are trying a bit too hard to be cool while crashing high school parties 🤷♀️
Dude! You've already listened to RJD on the Rainbow songs you listened to (Mistreated for example). He also did two albums with Black Sabbath that are great!
It's interesting you mentioned bass because Jimmy Bain is the bassist and he was amazing. However I want to state that this was initially a Black Sabbath song when he was in the band and the bassist (Geezer Butler) of Sabbath is legendary, often playing a melody that is different from the guitarist, but complimenting it perfectly. So any Sabbath song during the Ozzy or Dio years is going to have bass riffs that you should pay attention to. Also Dio is Italian for "god" which is fitting considering how divine his voice was.
Ronald James Padavona was from an Italian American family from New York... he was raised Catholic and that fueled his disdain for organized religion. He started singing as a teen in late 1950's and changed his name to Ronnie James Dio ... 'Dio' (Latin for "God") and made a name for himself in the 1960's recording do wop and R&B songs as Ronnie James Dio & the Prophets (and other acts). He formed the band that became Elf in 1971 after hearing the new 'heavy rock' music by Led Zeppelin & Black Sabbath... He joined Deep Purple guitarist Ritchie Blackmore's band Rainbow in 1975 and experience major success... However, he was fired from the band in 1979. Ronnie James Dio soon replaced Ozzy Osbourne as the vocalist for Black Sabbath in 1980... 'Heaven & Hell' was the first album he recorded w/ Sabbath and was a huge success. 'Mob rules' was the 2nd album in 1981... In 1982, a dispute w/ Sabbath led to his leaving the band. He formed the band Dio in 1983 (He insisted it was name recognition, not ego, that decided the band name) and released the platinum record 'Holy Diver'... followed by 'The last in line' in 1984... Dio would perform songs from his time w/ Rainbow and Black Sabbath... Ronnie James Dio kept recording and touring w/ Dio (various line-ups) in the 80's, 90's and 2000's... He even reunited w/ the members of Black Sabbath in 2006 and renamed the band Heaven & Hell. Sadly, Ronnie James Dio passed away from cancer in 2010 🤘🤘 R.I.P.

Ronnie James Dio started performing in the late 50's. Ronnie & The Redcaps then ELF (who became Rainbow with Ritchie Blackmore, then joined Black Sabbath replacing Ozzie, then his band DIO, and then Heaven & Hell which was really Black Sabbath. The record label wanted to differentiate the band name from Black Sabbath because Ozzie was getting ready to return to the band.
Saw him 2 times down here in Dallas and out of the hundreds of show i have seen from 1976-1989 those 2 shows of his i saw were hands down the best i have ever heard!!!
I saw Ronnie James Dio in his later years. A few years before he got sick and passed. It was for both the magica and killing the dragon tour. He was incredible and his voice was powerful.
Glad you found the Pavarotti of metal. Love. Your reaction. Please just raise the music up or your voice down. It will make it sound consistent while I try to listen respectfully on the train
Ronnie James Dio sang with Black Sabbath (the song "Children of the Sea") and also Rainbow (the song "Mistreated"). Both songs you loved his voice. When he left Black Sabbath, he formed his own band Dio.
You should listen to the 2009 live performance Dio did along with Iommi, Butler and Appice. That's the best performance, imho. 🤘😎 Original lineup, original sound and the intended soul of the song comes to life. Epic!
Greetings from Germany. Well, this video is just poorly edited. By a RUclipsr called DIO SAVA, is his name i believe...yes, thats sad. In concert Dio use to split this song. After this first half they play the song 'The Last in Line' which then seamlessly transitions into the second, faster part of Heaven and Hell. I think its awesome...R.I.P. DIO
Weird... you have another video that says "First Time Hearing Dio".. and you have 2 other reactions with Dio in different bands (Rainbow and Black Sabbath).
I have been listening to this song for nearly 40 years now and I still do not know for sure who the DANCER is, lol. My theory is we are the dancers and no one is going to bleed for us, we have to make things happen.
Start with Ronnie and the red caps, then Ronnie dio and the prophets then check out elf and rainbow, black Sabbath, heaven and hell and finally his solo stuff and you truly appreciate his talents
Just an FYI , On December 8th 2023 LILIAC is releasing a video cover of HEAVEN AND HELL! it's going to be on social media, so for all you DIO FANS , check it out!!! 👍
1980, my freshman year. Black Sabbath comes out with Heaven and Hell with Dio, Ozzy comes out with Blizzard of Oz with Randy Rhodes, AC/DC comes out with Back in Black with Brian Johnson because Bon Scott died, Judas Priest comes out with British Steel, 4 of the greatest albums ever, and oh yeah. John Bonham dies and John Lennon is murdered(stopped school with announcements with that one), quite a freshman year ✌️
Find a live video of Rainbow from 1977 when Dio sang for them, hes vocals are stunning! The note he hets after the guitar section when the band kicks in shiws insane range and power. Song also showcases his wonderful tone.
Ronnie James Dio the Elf with the giant voice! He was pitch perfect every time. Even when he was dying. You could see that there was something physically wrong but his voice was still 100%.
Whether you're into country, hip hop, r&b etc, you have to admit that RJD was an extraordinary entertainer. I saw him countless times when he was alive and I was always floored by his talent. He was on another level.
Dio, like John Farnham are the some of the greatest vocalists of all time, they can sing anything. Dio with rainbow was amazing and his time with Black Sabbath and later with heaven and hell(aka) Black Sabbath.
I can't say if you can actually see full screen. We just get black i'm sure that's copyright. But that man deal has got to be a of your size. I think in heals. He was five, foot 2 and about a buck 25.
I'm completely aware that I will get a ton of haters but here goes anyway. Dio😇 was 10X better than Ozzie. I got to see them at a "Black and Blue" concert. (Black Sabbath and Blue Oyster Cult) and fortunately Dio was with them at the time. The only time I liked Black Sabbath. If you haven't done it yet you MUST do "Children of the Sea" He really kills that one. "The world is full of kings and queens, who blind your eyes and steal your dreams, it's Heaven or Hell.". I still have this album LP.😎
Dio doesn't mean anything, it is his last name and when they Were showing those banners on stage, they were items people in the crowd had thrown up on stage and he was just showing them to the crowd
Ronnie James Dio passed in 2010 and there was and never be another one like him
Not only do they not make em like they used to, they closed down the factory
@@devilsephiroth9000and boarded it up. 🤘😂
So I could not remember what cancer he had died from when someone asked me. I guessed 2010 and was right🤣. RIP legend.

My personal favorite is his cover of mistreated, so much passion and power in that performance.
I recommend don't talk to strangers live in 1983

That is a band liner you almost could kill for.
Your mom is badass. She knows her music.
I think he's the only vocalist that nobody ever had a bad thing to say about it.
I want Dio to be the one to welcome me to the spirit realm when I die. I can dream can't I ? ✌❤
Well, Campbell had his fight with Dio.
One can argue both ways in that matter.
Dio is a god of metal, second to none. great reaction!
You've done a few reactions to Dio now! I specifically recall you doing Mistreated and Last in Line. The man's a legend, keep em coming!
DIO did this when he was in Black Sabbath. Tony Iommi is the godfather of heavy metal.
You`ve actually reacted to 3 songs where he was the singer 🤘🤘
That’s heavy metal my bro

hey this is not rock and roll , THIS IS METAL
He's the greatest rock singer of all time, IMO. Love your reaction.
😁👍
The studio version of this song is the best metal song of all time. It’s tragic when reactors don’t listen to that first!
Although the studio version is fire, nothing like seeing/hearing it live.
