Dont worry about that...I think you will find most Black Sabbath fans prefer the early albums with Ozzy, but respect and still love Ronnie James Dio and especially this song. Dio has more talent just not as much character in his voice imo. He also has a great solo career, he passed in 2010.

Dio was after Ozzy. Considered one of the best vocalists ever in metal. Dio’s solo stuff like Last in Line, We Rock, Don’t talk to strangers, and especially “Rainbow in the dark” is great.

That's not to say the rest isn't next level good, I just find his days in Rainbow and his solo stuff to really be peak Dio.

Dio was not only the singer in Black Sabbath, but also in Elf, Rainbow, Dio, and Heaven & Hell. He is considered one of the most legendary singers of all time, and rightly so. Quite clearly, Dio and Ozzy brought their own energies and vocals to Black Sabbath. I personally don't think one is better or worse than the other, they're both absolute legends.
Hell go even further back to the late 1950's - Ronnie Dio and the Red Caps and Ronnie Dio and the Prophets. "Blue Days, Blue Nights" or "Walking in Different Circles" will blow you away how different his sound was back in the day.
Ronnie James Dio He was so incredible.I can listen to his stuff all day long and never get tired or bored.I'll always miss him cause.I did get the meethim once years before he died

Congratulations on your introduction the mighty RONNIE JAMES DIO!!! He got his start in Rainbow, and you absolutely MUST listen to Stargazer. It will change your life. Another AMAZING Sabbath tine with him is Sign of the Southern Cross. Fucking phenomenal. For his solo stuff, check out Don't talk To Strangers and The Last In Line. Now, my son, you are a man! 🤘😎🤘
For more Dio stuff I recommend "Stand Up And Shout" or "Holy Diver" by Dio or even "Man On The Silver Mountain" by Rainbow. A very cool vocalist to listen to.
Dio was the GOAT of metal/hard rock. You should check out Rainbow - "Stargazer" for another band with Dio singing. It's more on the hard rock side in the 70's (pre-Sabbath), but it's amazing. Dio's solo band (post-Sabbath) is also great, but I'd start with the Rainbow track before going to solo....
“The world is full of kings and queens, who blind your eyes and steal your dreams” & “They’ll tell you black is really white, the moon is just the sun at night” Some of my favorite lyrics.
Your face when you realized it wasn't Ozzy was priceless. Dio was the perfect replacement for Ozzy, one metal God followed by another. This song is right up there as one of the greatest Sabbath songs of all time.
HaHa, you stumbled into a rabbit hole with Black Sabbath's best album, with RJD. I first discovered Dio as the singer for Rainbow, with Ritchie Blackmore from Deep Purple on guitar. He also has some solo bangers.
Ozzy osborne split like nineteen seventy nine Black sabbath hired Ronnie James Dio formerly of Rainbow To take over on vocals he recorded heaven and hell mob rules live evil then Dio did his own band 1998 came back to Black Sabbath for Dehumanizer album Elf Rainbow Black Sabbath and His solo band All the material he ever recorded. Is incredible and worth checking out
I saw Sabbath with Ronnie James on the Mob Rules tour... Had floor seats in front of one of the speaker stacks. Couldn't hear out of my left ear for a couple of days, and it was totally worth it.
Another Dio Sabbath masterpiece is sign of the southern cross.... After Dio, Sabbath made an album with a third vocalist (Ian Gillian of Deep Purple) called "Born Again" The whole album is a banger! "Zero the hero" "Disturbing the priest" "Trashed" "Digital bitch" All amazing tracks.

Children of the Sea is a must imo. Great song. The vocalist is Dio in that song too.
Rainbow is Dio's other band he was in as well. Stargazer is a phenomenal song, it will take you somewhere you haven't ever been. It will tell you a story like a great novel. If you want a great Dio song, that is your next song. Studio version is best IMO.
Ive been pushing for Sabbath Heaven and Hell because i knew itd blow his mind!! 🎸❤️🔥🤘 Ronnie James Dio is phenomenal!! Yessss!! Ronnie James Dio era Sabbath is fantastic! The original stuff with Ozzy is still my favorite but there is no denying the power of Dio's voice! "Children of the Sea", "The Sign of the Southern Cross", and "The Mob Rules" are other great songs from them. "Don't Talk to Strangers" is a solo Dio song that kicks all kinds of a$$!!
Dio is considered the greatest metal vocalist of all time by many. Funny you just stumbled across him this way. Yes, react to more of his music. He is amazing!!!!!
Black Sabbath was a British heavy metal band formed in 1968 in Birmingham by guitarist and main songwriter Tony Iommi, bassist and main lyricist Geezer Butler, vocalist Ozzy Osbourne and drummer Bill Ward.[1] Since Ozzy Osbourne's departure, the band has undergone several line-up changes, with guitarist Iommi being the only one present in all of them. Originally a blues rock band, they soon adopted the name Black Sabbath and began incorporating horror stories into their lyrics, as well as using low-tuned guitars. Although these two themes were common, they also composed songs that dealt with social instability, political corruption, the dangers of drug abuse, and apocalyptic prophecies resulting from war. The original lineup came to an end in 1979 with Osbourne's dismissal, due to his addiction to alcohol and use of other drugs. He was replaced by Ronnie James Dio, former Rainbow singer. After recording two albums with Dio, Black Sabbath faced numerous member changes during the 80s and 90s, which included vocalists Ian Gillan, Glenn Hughes, Ray Gillen and Tony Martin, as well as several drummers and bassists. In 1992, Iommi and Butler joined Dio and drummer Vinny Appice to record the album Dehumanizer. The original lineup reunited in 1997, when they recorded the live album Reunion. Black Sabbath's latest studio album, titled 13, was released in June 2013 and featured Iommi, Butler and Osbourne. Between 2016 and 2017 they performed "The End Tour", a tour that officially marked the end of the group's career. Black Sabbath is usually cited as one of the pioneers of heavy metal.[2][3] The group helped define the genre with releases such as Paranoid (1970), Master of Reality (1971) and Heaven and Hell (1980), selling more than 70 million copies during their career.[4] They were defined by MTV as "the greatest heavy metal band of all time", and were ranked 2nd on VH1's list of the "100 Greatest Hard Rock Artists". Rolling Stone magazine placed them at number 85 on their list of the "100 Greatest Artists of All Time". The band was inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2005, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006 and has twice won the Grammy Awards in the Best Metal Performance category.
Ronny James Dio was the singer of rainbow back in the early days. He also had his solo band called Dio. He has one of the most soulful metal voices ever. He’s really like an RnB singer singing metal lol but the early rainbow stuff is great. Or if you wanna hear us solo band, Dio, the last in line is a great album
That my friend is Ronnie James Dio, one of the greatest rock/metal vocalist of all time. He took over from Ozzy when Ozzy got kicked out. That's when Ozzy went off and did most of his own Solo stuff.
Another great song from this album "Children of the Sea". Some songs from Dio's solo career "Holy Diver"..."Egypt"..."Straight Through the Heart". Dio is a great vocalist, definitely top 5 of rock and roll.
This and Children of the Sea, from same album, Are two of my favorite songs of all time. Dio is My favorite singer also. This Album Changed Me back in the early 80s. RIP DIO!
Welcome to the wide world of Ronnie James Dio! That guy's career started back in the '50s, and he's been with some amazing bands. Dio's writing really brings out the best in Geezer's bass guitar.
Some spot-on comments about the song on your part. This album came out in 1980. That time period, late 70s to early 80s, was magical. It is hard to fully grasp unless you were there at the time. From Black Sabbath, to Ozzy/Randy Rhoads, AC/DC, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Michael Schenker Group, Def Leppard, Van Halen, and more... everywhere you turned, there were incredible albums being released. As for name pronunciations, it is Ronnie James Dee-O and Tony Eye-Om-Me.
There was 9 vocalists in Black Sabbath in different times (if you consider also those who made only one track with band). 1.) At first was, obviously Ozzy Osbourne, in 1977 he lefted band, they started make new album (Never Say Die!) with Dave Walker and made one thrack with him, but Ozzy suddenly returned and they've recorded album with him, and after this he lefted second time. 2.) In 1980 band take Ronnie James Dio on vocals after he was expelled from band Rainbow. Sabbath recorded 2 albums with Dio and he lefted too. 3.) In 1982 Sabbath started to make another album with Dave Donato, they've wrote one track with him and after that take Ian Gillan form Deep Purple on vocals and recorded album Born Again with him and Gillan lefted. 4.) In 185 Tonny Iommi and Geezer Butler recorded demo album with Jeff Fenholt and in 1986 Iommi re-recorded this album with Glenn Hughes from Deep Purple on vocals. 5.) In 1987 Sabbath recorded new album with Ray Gillen, but he was expeleld from band and they've re-recordet album with Tony Martin, after that they've made 2 more albums with him. 6.) In 1992 Dio returned in Band and they've recorded album Dhumanizer after which Dio lefed again, and Tony Martin returned and they've made another 2 albums with him. 7.) In 1997 Ozzy returned in band for some live shows and also they've recorded 2 new tracks, after that Ozzy lefed again and band took a break from activity. 8.) In 2007 Iommi called Dio in band again and they'ce recorded 3 new tracks after which Dio lefted again 9.) And in 2012 Ozzy returned in band last time, they've recorded their last LP album - "13", they started last tour called "The End Tour", in 2016 they released their last studio work EP The End, played last show and band was dissolved. :(
Dude, do solo Dio too. Some absolutely killer stuff. Holy Diver, Rainbow In The Dark, Don’t Talk to Strangers, Straight Through The Heart, Dream Evil. So many
Ronnie James DIo had been around for quite a few years long before he joined Sabbath, Ha was already a recording artist. After he left Sabbath he became one of the best known names in metal! WIth his own band DIO, you have to check out the numerous iconic hits from Ronnie! Anyone that is into metal knows who RJD is! Welcome to the wide world of Ronnie James Dio! That guy's career started back in the '50s, and he's been with some amazing bands. Dio's writing really brings out the best in Geezer's bass guitar.
DIO is KING....I say no more..... one of the nicest blokes in Rock.
The outro is one to be remembered. It’s Melodic, it’s dark, it’s absolutely fuckin beautiful
My favorite album of theirs!
Ozzy eventually came back for their final (extremely underrated) album 13. And he was just as awesome as ever.
8.) In 2007 Iommi called Dio in band again and they'ce recorded 3 new tracks after which Dio lefted again
9.) And in 2012 Ozzy returned in band last time, they've recorded their last LP album - "13", they started last tour called "The End Tour", in 2016 they released their last studio work EP The End, played last show and band was dissolved. :(
Yippee about time you covered the amazing Ronnie James Dio on vocals. He is amazing. Check out Dio and early Rainbow aswell🎉🎉
still getting goose bumps every time listening Heaven & Hell and I've been listening this for over 40 years..
You should react to Dio's own songs too
Symptom of the Universe , Children of the Grave and the song and riff that made me a metal head IRON MAN !!!!
You should do a live version.
@mikekeene5395 Agree!
2nd this!🤘
It's great to see young people react to music from 44 years ago! I was 20 when this came out btw!
His wife Wendy still promotes a hologram show featuring Ronnie as a hologram on stage singing his songs! Ronnie passed on May 16th 2010 he was 67 years old and is still considered the GOAT but also the Godfather of metal! The album Heaven And Hell was released in 1980.
