This is a vampire game where you can complete it without drinking the blood of others to keep yourself alive for a pacifist ending. So in the end, there are no consequences. Kill as many ghouls or vampire hunters as you want, but as long as you don't drink the blood of named NPCs, you get the good ending. The game had a good concept, but they botched the execution.
"Where this game is concerned, I couldn't be any more of a target if I were a Kennedy working for WikiLeaks, with Hillary's private server jammed up my ass!" LMAO! I'M DYING! SEND HELP! XD
Okay, Raz0rfist, as I know you are a man of integrity, you sold me this game on the spot when you drew a comparison to VtM Bloodlines and DX Human Revolution. Bloodlines is literally my favorite video game ever made, and DXHR is an excellent game I've played through several times. Thank you for this review, and I'll be grabbing this game when it goes on sale again in the future. Also, it's fun seeing your appearances on Crowder. :D
I get heavy Spiders vibes from this, same publisher and everything. Another note is that the composer for this is the *phenomenal* Olivier Deriviere, who made the soundtracks for both Bound by Flame and Technomancer as well.
The politics almost had me quite playing this game. Not as bad as it could have been... still an annoyance. The Trump character trying to build a wall (which quarantine is evil now apparently. Fuck logic.) had me ill.
I've just gotten to that point in the game, and while I worry I might lose the love interest because of it I've also been playing a dedicated doctor, healing every NPC I can, so I'm going to save the quarantine wall character because it's the medically sound thing to do.
Don't you see? It's so much more moral if everyone is sick with an epidemic than if you quarantine the affected population. At least then you're not discriminating with this plague that for some reason only the poor are afflicted with (apparently).
@@youtubeisapublisher6407 The love interest is so bland I dunno why anyone would care about losing their favor. I went for the "Become Dracula ending" because it's cooler, and the romance plot did nothing for me.
@@RedRemover5000 Then the object of your sarcasm actually came to pass in the real world, a mere 2 years after you posted this. When the inevitable ensued, it was, of course, Wall Man's fault.
Would've thought that you'd pick up on the overtly obvious left leaning overtones of the writing that is crammed down the player's throat. I've never played a game that actually penalized the player for not making the 'correct' decision (in the writers' minds). What's the point of dialogue choice then?
It’s surprised me, doing a podcast for the last couple years, how parts of my show are unintentionally inspired by other internet media I like. I only discovered this channel a few months back, but while editing a recent episode of my podcast I came to a section where I went on an uncharacteristically confrontational rant, and I suddenly realized-my argument style was pure Razorfist.
I absolutely love this game as well. The numerous ways they break from conventional urban-fantasy tropes are incredible. My favorite has to be the scam that is the Ascalon Club.
I had no problem with the witcher 3's combat system (the games was pretty easy, once you get the hang of it in the first few quests). It was pretty great. Thanks for the heads-up on this game though
My only problem with the game is that they did such a crappy job balancing the gear you find in the wild. Why bother doing most of the quests when the Witcher gear you make ends up always being better?
You'd be surprised with the crazy builds one can get with gear you find in the wild :) but I get what you're saying... the stuff being made is more useful, than the stuff picked up. The only thing I can guess what they were trying to achieve, was that you dismantle what you find and build a better one and sell the rest. But that's just a guess in what they were trying to steer towards.
In my experience the stuff you find in the wild was always inferior to the Witcher stuff until you're in the crazy high levels. The reason for this is because the weapons and equipment were always at least a few levels lower than you currently are. If it scaled with the player's level (like I've seen some mods accomplish) that would be a different story but sadly that wasn't the case in the vanilla game.
there are 2 swords that are quite OP (someone else can probably prove me wrong, but it helped me finish the game quicker), but they are in the DLC's though. The viper swords and aerondight. :) the DLC's probably helped make the game more scalable (if I can put it that way)
ive been infatuated with this game ever since i watched this review a few years back. then i finally bought it some time ago. this review had a huge impact on this decision. im happy to say its every bit worth it (for me at least). its may not be for everyone, and its true there are difficulty spikes (mainly level gap jumps), but id go so far as to say that it has a difficult fairness that can only be found in the souls series (but sadly a bit clunky). its not as hard as any of the dark souls games, far from it, but as someone who's had more 1000 collective hours across sekiro and the souls trilogy games, i would say that this game is souls lite. once you get used to the combat controls, man its a blast.
I think it's a strange game, because it's fun and I played it till the end, yet it's clearly lacking in various ways and has PC and SJW infestations here and there, some subtle and others more overt. It was hilarious how Aloysius Dawson was basically Trump, and the black women suffrage stuff all over the place. But it wasn't a bad game. Usually this kind of game just goes straight into the garbage can, but this time it was atleast a playable piece of propaganda. EDIT: LUL Hardgay razor ramon
·sev· You sure you're not just seeing what you want to see? These tropes kinda predate the arrival of the Trump Train, which I am currently a passenger of.
Yeah some of them do, I am not linking them all to trump. I'm no history expert, but I'm pretty sure that London did not have such ethnic diversity back in the day. In any case that is minor. The most amusing example is Aloysius Dawson directly saying build a wall to keep all the infested sub-humans out. He was like a caricature of Trump, but the way this game did it wasn't too bad. It was closer to neutral in the way that good pieces of work should be, in presenting the issue without a default answer to rule them all, although obviously everyone in the damn game says you shouldn't trust Aloysius and that you should definitely not help him achieve his goals because that would be immoral and evil etc. But it wasn't nearly as obnoxious as it could've been, just enough to leave a distasteful tinge on the tongue, but not enough to brutalize your anal cavity with the dross of SJW ideology. It was there, but the game was playable despite it, is what I'm saying.
If it were a relatively nonpolitical developer I would be willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, but given Dontnod's previous works you'd have to be really naive to not see that as a dig at Trump.
Yeah I got the part about the Indians. It would've been fun if the protagonist was a monocle wearing Englishman of good breeding, like Mogg. "It would be superbly delightful if the right honorable gentleman were to feel so inclined as to gift me with a pint of his blood."
I feel like the narrative was probably the weakest part of the game and I say that only because the dodging was not clunky (at least for me) while the combat wasn't great. I haven't beaten the game yet (I intend to) but the story has a number of flaws in it where I'm at that it caused me to need an extended break. I was thinking Razorfist might hate the game but I was actually surprised.
Great vid, I have the same feelings about the game, just less eloquently said. I did want to ask a Question though, have you played Divinity Original Sin 2? I tried looking to see if you made a video on it, cause I would love to see your Heavy Metal, Crass-yet Eloquent, red-pill fueled rant on the game. Keep up the good work Razorfist!
Then you're an outlier. I bought this shortly after release, I've had glitches and hard crashes and the latter scared the hell out of me. Since this game doesn't have an actual "save" function and it's all auto-saving at arbitrary times, a hard crash when it IS saving would completely corrupt the file. Now if you got this only recently, congrats you got the patched version that removed the "OP" cheat and stabilized the game more.
I bought this on release, and it was the best decision I've made in a purchase, in a long time. It's been quite a while, since I played a game so well made, that I thought about it , my whole shift at work.
This game has a severe problem with inventory management. If you use a health shot during a boss fight and you die, when you come back, the boss will have full health and you won't have your health shot. I wanted to love this game, but I could not.
Since we are talking Vampire: the Masquerade and Werewolf: the apocalypse, who on this green earth do I have to rough up or kill in order to get a Hunter: The Reckoning roleplaying game?
huh, i got stuck somewhere but when i loaded it was a specific location, like a checkpoint for an area of something, i didn't remain stuck when i loaded.
Excellent choice. Might I also recommend playing V:TM Bloodlines? The mods that have been released for it fix a great many of the technical issues that plagued the game originally, and make it a much more enjoyable experience.
Did you take down your Vampyr arcade video? Or were there some strikes? I already watched some of it, but the video seems to have even disappeared from my history-feed.
Yo razorfist, I know you don't like the witcher because of its ressemblance to Elrics Cycle, and I don't have anything against. But what I do find strange is that Moorcock's Elric ressembles a bit like one character from Tolkien...Turin Turambar. Children of Hurin and Elric have many ressemblances plot and theme wise but I don't see anyone talking about it
First off: Moorcock's ACTUAL influences are perfectly well spelled out. By the author himself. Monsieur Zenith, Kullervo, and in the sense that he attempted to do the exact opposite of Howard, Conan as well. Moorcock was so up-front about his inspiration from Monsieur Zenith, in fact, that he bought the rights and resurrected the character in 'The Metatemporal Detective'. Second: What does that have to do with The Witcher 3's well-publicized shitty combat? Even positive reviews acknowledge it is an objective fault. Are you fanboys so thin-skinned you can't stomach ANY valid criticism of the game?
The Rageaholic it has nothing to do with the game. I just wanted to voice my opinion in your most recent video. It so happens it has moments of you talking about witcher 3, would have your video been about politics or comics I would have still said the same thing. I hope I made myself clear and it wasn't really an attack against Moorcock's work. I myself am a fan of Elric because of your videos, so thanks
Turin Turambar appears in The Children of Húrin novel, an epic fantasy novel which forms the completion of a tale by J. R. R. Tolkien. He wrote the original version of the story in the late 1910s, revised it several times later, but did not complete it before his death in 1973. His son, Christopher Tolkien, edited the manuscripts to form a consistent narrative, and published it in 2007 as an independent work. There reason nobody is talking about the similarities is: 1) Children of Hurin came out after Elric(much, much later) 2) The legend of Kullervo, a character from the Finnish folklore poems known as Kalevala, was a major inspiration for both Elric and Turin, so any similarities between them is due to them both sharing the same source of influence. Poul Anderson was also influential on Michael Moorcock, specifically his fantasy novels "Three Hearts and Three Lions" and "The Broken Swords". Highly recommend you read both of them, they are great.
Sure. If you like Sword and Sorcery then you probably already know about Robert E. Howard, and if you haven't read his stories, go and do it; they haven't aged a day and are immensely entetaining. Primarily you should read his Conan the Cimmerian and Kull stories. His Solomon Kane stories are probably Howard at his best. C. L. Moore's Jirel of Joiry tales are great as well; while not as action oriented as the others, they are very atmospheric. Start with "Black God's Kiss" Karl Edward Wagner's Kane novels and short stories are a joy; Kane makes Elric look like a benevolent person. "Death Angel's Shadow" is a collection of short stories and the best place to start with him. He has written both novels and short stories. Finally, you seriously need to try David Gemmel. He takes the sword and sorcery from short stories and novellas and turns them into full-blown novels, but retains the great action and adventure. Start with the novel "Legend" and then work your way up all the rest of the books in the Drenai series. These are the best sword-and-sorcery authors you'll find. I hope you enjoy all of them(including Fritz Leiber).
holy shit, i didn't know Werewolf was getting a actual game. I want an entire OWoD Game universe, goddamn. ...maybe if it does well, Exalted could get a game? I know, im dreaming but... still.
Yeah because the CONSTANT sufferagette theme moaning, muh sexism, interracial coupling complaining, muh boarders strawman NPC, and horrendous pretentious and terribly written prose of the opening monologue really tell me the game is good. At least Human Revolution wasn't made by devs who wanted to whine at me about sexism in the plague-ridden 1904 London.
This is totally off-topic and I apologize, just thought it would have the best chance of being seen. You have any plans on doing more metal mythos? I would love to see Queensryche metal mythos. Cheers and all best.

Hopefully they learn from this and start making a better game next time. I think this is their first "gameplay game" and not a BS story games, but they sure missed this up really bad with all the problems it had without fixing.
Got it 2nd week after release, and its exactly as the review says...new...SOMETHING FUCKING NEW in this beyond stagnated industry. It has flaws up the ass, sure, but the refreshing feeling you get while playing this game takes me back at least a decade! Anyways Great Review. Can't wait for GREEDFALL!!
Guy's undergone a revival and is one of my favorite channels. Even if you aren't a fan of sports outside of baseball he is extremely entertaining. Hell, he just uploaded his "Hater's Guide to the MLB: All-Star Break Edition!" So go and give that a watch!
God damn it, why does every game that gives a damn about punishing poor player choices rely on the worst, most primitive saving system in the market? Like, off-topic, but Pathologic 2 apparently is going to have a checkpoint save system. How will this not end with corrupted saves and/or having to waste time running to checkpoints to save any progress made? Back to this game, I had a feeling it'd be awesome. I'll check it out soon!
But is it just Vampire: Masquerade Redemption 2018? Keen to try this as a massive fan of Deus Ex...but the last time a Vampire/DE hybrid was attempted....it didn't suit me so well.
Glad I wasn't the only one who fully enjoyed this one. Of course, there were myriad funks and bunks. But hey, like you said, it's not flippin Black Ops 10,000. Well, you said it all, so I really have nothing left to say but CHEERS, MAN! 👍
For once, I actualy agree with you. There's a lot of good stuff in this game, with both the setting and the characters. It's just a shame that the game is held back by it's combat and a lot of bad ways the game tries to justify it's mechanics. I wonder if they took out the combat alltogether and just focused on what's actualy great with the game, would it make for a better experience or would that part simply be missing and end up dragging the game down again.
I know, right? Only Obsidian and CD Projekt games get to be broken and still get recommendations. Because 'something something 4chan gives me my opinions'.
The Rageaholic or Zelda OOT, where you can game break the water temple by using keys in the wrong order, no big required, and still have a the greatest game of all time. Fuck, I’ll try this out. Any way to open the console commands to move yourself out of the table?
reasons to be more foregiving for this game: 1)setting, any game around WW1 gets a plus 2)Dontnod gets points for trying something new (Looking at you, Telltale)
Totally with you on Obsidian and CDPR, I respect you so fucking much for being the rarest of people who actually take Witcher 3 and Obsidian's garbage heaps to task.
There reason nobody is talking about the similarities is:
1) Children of Hurin came out after Elric(much, much later)
2) The legend of Kullervo, a character from the Finnish folklore poems known as Kalevala, was a major inspiration for both Elric and Turin, so any similarities between them is due to them both sharing the same source of influence.
Poul Anderson was also influential on Michael Moorcock, specifically his fantasy novels "Three Hearts and Three Lions" and "The Broken Swords". Highly recommend you read both of them, they are great.
Constantin do you have any other sword and sorcery recommendations? I've started Leibers gray mouser and fafhrd and I'm liking it
Start with "Black God's Kiss"
Karl Edward Wagner's Kane novels and short stories are a joy; Kane makes Elric look like a benevolent person.
I know, im dreaming but... still.
I liked the combat, I sometimes went to around specifically only to fight because I thought it was fun, much better and responsive than fable combat.
stamina of a self-harming hemophiliac is my new favorite description
do they sparkle ?
This is gold haha nice job Razor.
I'm not surprised to hear some of these issues, i'm surprised that it actually turned out pretty good.
TL;DR: I like the theme and story. Besides that, the game's kinda wack.
I loved and laughed so hard at the Kennedy joke!! 🤣😂
Oh good! Dontnod is on top of this one. Loved "Remember Me." May have to try this one day!
They should have made an outfit where you look like Lugosi when he is walking through London
Looks interesting. gonna have to wait since I'm playing Kingdom Come at the moment.
I got all 4 endings. Sold it to a friend afterwards because after that, not much to do.
The intro song was going to be either bloodletter or Nosferatu.
Saxon has the best vampire tunes.
RazorFist has the #1 expletive game on the entire assf•cking internet, hahaha...
Good stuff, as always, dude.
checkpoint save systems have no place with the storage space we have access to
Why was the video removed in the first place?
Glad you reviewed this! I loved it. I knew you would too. Lol
So... for scientific purposes... What is that character creation from?
We shall wonder for years, my friend.
Queen's blade my dudes. The mmo not the unrelated anime with the same name.
@@_Hell_cat_ In case you were right and you're indeed still wondering, know that *Terran Gell* said (in reply to an older post merely a couple of other posts away, funnily enough) that it's *Scarlet Blade.* Never heard of, but am honestly curious. _Le getup, c'est très risqué, haw haw hawww!_
This game made me feel like an asshole for being a Vampire. And I fucking loved it for doing that. Make Vampires monsters again.
Well that made my day a little better thank you fist and T boogie
RIP Seth Rich
A pic depicting Shingeki no kyojin ( attack of titan ). Could it be that razorfist has seen it?
Hopefully they learn from this and start making a better game next time. I think this is their first "gameplay game" and not a BS story games, but they sure missed this up really bad with all the problems it had without fixing.
Got it 2nd week after release, and its exactly as the review says...new...SOMETHING FUCKING NEW in this beyond stagnated industry.
It has flaws up the ass, sure, but the refreshing feeling you get while playing this game takes me back at least a decade!
Anyways Great Review.
Can't wait for GREEDFALL!!
You and Urinatingtree should do a stream sometime, you guys would be a good pair talking about things.
Sounds nostalgic. It'd be like visiting my old jokes again.
Guy's undergone a revival and is one of my favorite channels. Even if you aren't a fan of sports outside of baseball he is extremely entertaining. Hell, he just uploaded his "Hater's Guide to the MLB: All-Star Break Edition!" So go and give that a watch!
I felt like they forgot to add combat then were like "FUCK!" then half assed bolted the system on there
What is the intro song?
Looks interesting. I'll wait until they fix it.
They actually kind of did. The save glitch I alluded to was fixed in the last patch.
Glad I wasn't the only one who fully enjoyed this one. Of course, there were myriad funks and bunks. But hey, like you said, it's not flippin Black Ops 10,000. Well, you said it all, so I really have nothing left to say but CHEERS, MAN! 👍
2:45 what movie is this from?
Hahahahahahaajjjjjjajahahahahahahahahahahahaha just an amazing RUclips channel.....I wish I had more friends like this bloke
What changed for the re-upload ?
Yea i'll stick with bloodlines, thanks but no thanks.
I was just wondering if this game was any good, but there's so much else going on that I just have to keep looking
>Game has fatal, game breaking flaws.
>I recommend it.
The absolute state of Rageaholic gaming. Still love you though sunshine.
Any way to open the console commands to move yourself out of the table?
reasons to be more foregiving for this game:
1)setting, any game around WW1 gets a plus
2)Dontnod gets points for trying something new (Looking at you, Telltale)
Totally with you on Obsidian and CDPR, I respect you so fucking much for being the rarest of people who actually take Witcher 3 and Obsidian's garbage heaps to task.
Everyone dickwashing it to Cyberpunk 2077 at E3 and I'm sat in the back of the Closed-Room demo hearing the red-flag words of "Vertical Slice" "Years away from Launch" and "in Engine render" while I smell gallons of neckbeard cum being shot all over the room.
Yeah, I'm just having a bit of a poke, I genuinely enjoy Fallout 4 despite it being a burning diaper that you can build into a fort. So I've got no actual room to talk shit on other people's tastes, lol.
Well, I'd heard about all the bugs and was planning to pass, but this sounds like it might be a solid "Buy it when it's on sale".
Combat was fine for me. Quite easy once you get the hang of it. But main issue was the lackluster ending.
Not to be an insufferable pedantic douche, which I am about to be...
The White Rabbit reference with a clip of the March Hare rustled my jimmies.
6:29
Huh? What game is that? I swear I've seen that game before?
i wanted to ask the same thing. edit: scarlet blade.
Oh shit, Strong Gay reference
There is so much in the world that is crazy and rage inducing (no pun intended), but Razor, Razor makes me feel better.
6:29 - ok, what was that? Phantasy Star Online or something?
Scarlet Blade
Reuploud huh
great review exactly my thoughts about the game. Knew the moment i read main stream gamer journalist slag out what I just had started to play ie a sort of nod to the two games the review compares I knew this was going to be an immersive setting not full of wet marvels assemble / harry potter and go USA torture fest vibes.
you mentioned bloodlines, damn it. how many people have you condemn to reinstalling it?
