- Quick Tutorial on replacing the 6th gen center display lens on a Mazda3. Procedures for other vehicle will be similar and this is a easy way to fix ghost touch, spider cracks and other problems your display might have.
just did this on a 2017!
Keep in mind if you have a 2017 6 GT the push button start is a part of the horizontal trim piece removed after opening the glove box. It will by default pull off the trim that covers your gauges(driver side above the steering column) don't panic like I did for a second!!! You got this!!!!!!!
It goes back on with a little gentle convincing (try sitting on the drivers side to reattach)....you will have to disconnect that wire last and put it back on first. 2017 is slightly different. a couple of more screws and the screen did not pop open so easily.
Happy with the result though!
Thank you so much for the video. you saved me like $600 in labor costs for 40 minute job!!
Where did you get the part?
If you don't care about the touch screen which isn't used much then u can just unplug the ribbon cable. My 17 mazda 6 was ghost touching but looked perfect. I just unplugged the ribbon cable and it's 💯 % fixed!!! Free of charge!!!
I've just did exactly that to my 2 mazda 3s, I figure I never use the touch feature anyway.
Another great video. I like your style of stepping through the entire procedure. Thanks for this one! And continued good luck with your newborn!
Honestly, that was the most detailed video I've seen on this subject. The only question I had was if you disconnect the battery, what else in the car has to be reset and if you have to reset anything, do you need a Mazda code? On a Honda, you'd need the code.
Thank you for the detailed walkthrough. I just finished replacing the display lens on my 2017 Mazda3 and your tutorial laid things out perfectly. The only thing I noticed was that on my old screen there was a rectangular plastic gasket between the lens and the display. Not sure if it should have been placed behind the new display lens but so far my display seems fine w/o it.
So so helpful!!! Been dealing with this on my 2017 Mazda CX-5 and have been desperate to find a solution!!
Just the video I needed! Sun burnt my screen and has a dead spot and has ghost touch. Looks exactly like that cars screen.
Thank you. That was very helpful 👍
Having that exact problem with my 2018 Mazda CX-5. Thanks!!
Very helpful. Thanks so much
Great content! I’m curious if it’s possible to retrofit a larger screen to the 2020 Mazda models
Great video ….. question…. How can I use video in drive is a Mazda CX-30 2022
Could i bother you for help for diagnosis of my 2016 Mazda 3? I have reverse camera and sensor on it. Whenever i put in reverse, camera show's up together with annoying beeps, but not showing sensor area nor something. I do not have button for parking sensor either. Is it because one of them failed or...? Best guess?
Please, could you provide the bulletin link?
Do I have to change the display every 4-5 years? It seems like that. Since I have seen many of them have ghost/burn shows!
Before you plugged off the battery, there was a zzz sound. I have the same. what was is that?
Do you know if there's any way to make a 2023 cx-5 ce into a touch screen?
Hi
Can you help me for the touch screen it's off if I am driving haw I can enable this
Thank you
2:54 ish what’s the cause of the upside down U shape burned In? Is it caused from sun damage?
My car has exactly the same problem were can I get that screen it’s the same model and year
How do you fix the bubbles ?
link to purchase?
Do you have video for 2017 Mazda 6?
Not needed. Its just about identical. See my comment above!
Isnt there a way i could just do without that screen and put a normal stereo in that slot? I dont reslly care about that touchscreen i just want a radio that can play music.
Are the bubbles just from a peel on the outer part?
Did you ever find out ?😊
@@homargarcia5779 Replaced mine myself, its just a peal.
@@MrMattie on the outside ? 🤔
Just use your Mazda knob as much as you can as this screen lens looks very delicate...
Wonder what is causing it to fail, temps or maybe someone applying too much pressure on the lens using is as touchscreen?
I only used all the time the knob in my Mazda cx5 2019 and I have the same problem with ghost touch. So this is not too much pressure on the lens. I think the lens has manufacture defect because a lot of people have the same problem and Mazda should fix this for free!
@@78adro Do you have lot of high temps around you?
I agree there should be a recall
@@kdomster9141 I live in Chicago, yes we have hot here sometimes. Recently I have decided to disconnect my phone and now it happened much less. Maybe one time for couple days. I noticed it happened sometimes when I brake and stop the the car, when I am standing in the traffic. It look like vibration from others noisy cars cause that. When is less humidity in the air. I don't understand why mazda didn't make a recall for that?
@@78adro it could be combination of extreme heat and cold in winter repeating for 7 years and that lens is breaking down, regardless it should be made to automotive grade and last more than 7 years .
Get the kit and replace it , it will cost you around 200 dollars .
WHAT IS THE PART NUMBER HOW DO I BUY IT?????
Great video, but can you explain all the BUBBLES??
the bubbles are a thin film on the screen. like a protective shield like you would find on a new tv. I always leave it on for the customer to take off.
I have the same code, B108E04 and guess what? They told me I have to change this kit WITH CMU! Which cost me $400 with $200 for screen lens kit!
