.243 Win Remington Core-Lokt Tipped | 100 Yard Ammo Test (I'M VERY IMPRESSED)
The Core Lokt Tipped seems to be considerably more accurate than the original Core Lokt. I'm impressed.
I love it
Yup! Very solid stuff now. I always heard a lot of guys using core lokt was either love it or hate it.
For sure. These rounds remind me of their accubond rounds.
@@chevyon37s HUH... Ive never heard anyone tell me they hate them, they are the original bonded bullet, they always have been, and i think they still are the deadliest mushroom in the woods, especially out of any one of my Remington pumps, 180gr CoreLokT is the ticket, out of my .308 its always killed everything ive hit with them, really no matter where i hit them
@@leadhead7338 The problem wasn't with the bullet design on the Corelokt bullets. The problem was with the company that bought Remington years ago and pretty much killed quality. Now that Federal bought Remington ammo the quality is coming back. A few years ago I got bad ammo twice in a row from remington. Some brass was crushed and some very undercharged cartridges. Their QC sucked. Hopefully, the Remington name will mean quality again.
Try the M-CARBO pro spring kit for the Savage Axis. It comes with two new springs. A 2.5 lb and a 3.5 lb spring with 2 washers to stop the side to side movement on the factory trigger. I put the 2.5 lb one in my axis 243 and my son's axis 243 and both shoot like my Bergara B14. Came across it searching for a way to lighten my trigger without breaking the bank. Factory was nearly 6lbs and now breaks at 2lbs. Love watching your videos proving you don't need thousand dollar set-ups to have fun and shoot good.
Or just get an accutrigger and you can adjust down to 1.5lbs and there is no take up or wiggle in the trigger
@@TheShmeebitdog I have a Savage Axis .308 with the Acutrigger and I love it.
@@TheShmeebitdog M-Carbo kit is like 20 bucks. I couldn't find a axis 2 xp within the price of a regular axis xp
I second the mcarbo spring kit. Put one in my son's 6.5 and one in my 30-06. If you adjust the bolt that holds the spring there is no creep or over pull. It's the best 20 bucks you'll spend. I have a 223 with accutrigger. But you can't buy an axis II with a accutrigger for 20 more than the axis.
I've got my Remington and Winchester set at 2lb pull.
Fouling shot is a legit concept. I've always done it since high school rifle team. It does make a difference.
The round makes all the difference for some. I have a BLR in .243 my dad got me as a young teen in 1974. Broke it in a carried 100gr CoreLokt for years, it always shot well (or so I thought) then I discovered Nosler Partition 100gr. That BLR LOVES flat base bullets. Looks like the Vanguard group. Boatails I'd be happy with anything inside 2" at 100
Flat base is always that much more accurate unless you get way out there and it goes subsonic. That's the reason I stick with them. I don't take shots at 500 yards.
I understand the reasoning behind not letting the barrel cool between shots. I have never been hunting where I could get the game to stand still while the barrel cooled. Keep up the good work and fun videos.
Take one good shot and the barrel can cool until next season
Good shooting WtW… .243 is a heck of a round, it punches well outside of it class.
Gotta love 243
I love that Weatherby Vanguard, it’s a Tack Driver. I can’t wait to see you do some hunting with that ammo this season.
To be honest, I’ve never been a Remington ammo fan, but after watching you shoot two awesome groups I think I’ll have to give them another try. That is if we ever get any up here in Canada, I thought a couple weeks back that ammunition was starting to come back availability wise here, but I think I was wrong
Anyhow great video 👍🏻👍🏻
❤️ from Canada
God Bless the USA 🇺🇸
Thanks for watching Ralph!
Seems like they are mainly manufacturing 223, 556, 308, 7.62x51. They seem to be only making small batches of other calibers. It took me a while to find some 270
@@Charles-nd4yr check out "ammo grab" or ammo seek " plus if you shoot Federal you can buy all their brands directly from them they always have some 270 and 243 in stock you can even get their custom ammo if you want and they will customize it to your rifle type and modifications
I love the Remington Core Lokt! I got my last deer with it. I haven’t tried the green tipped stuff yet but I definitely will!
Stuff has done me good
That's all I ever use, sometimes if I can't find it I buy Winchester super x. But I got to try to find some tipped core lokt's for sure.
Love the 243 great little cartridge for deer 🦌!!
Thanks for watching David
I am definitely going to have to get some of those new core lokt.243 and try them in my Browning BLR! From all I can gather this gun was made in 1971 in Belgium and is a very accurate gun. See if we can get some of those clover leafs with it! Both guns you shot there were pretty good with the grouping! You just cannot beat that beautiful Weatherby! Really a very straight shooter!
LOVE THESE VIDS! Always good to see different guns react to different ammo. This core lokt tipped looks legit. Great video!
Appreciate you watching Braden!
That is some good stuff right there. 1 inch group at 100 yards is quite impressive.
Today I shot 2 Core Lokt Tipped rounds thru one hole at 100 yds, with a third round flyer (called) at 100 yds.
I then shot a 3-round .75” group with standard Core Lokt’s at the same 100 yds.
I’m 62, retired military, and have essential tremor, so bear with my crappy marksmanship.
Core Lokt Tipped is my new hunting round, with original Core Lokt a close second/backup that hits within 1” of the Tipped.
Thank you for the excellent video, you’ve helped this old veteran survive another 5 seasons in the field. After that, we’ll see. 😊
I got a Palmetto State Armory AR-10 in .308 Winchester, and she absolutely loves the 150gr Core-Lokt loads, regularly shooting around a half inch at a hundred yards whenever I do my part. I want to get a few boxes of tipped Core-Lokt loads just to see how my rifle shoots them. As it stands, any deer that gets within 300 yards I feel confident that it'll end up in my freezer.
That wood on that weathrby is gorgeous in the sunlight definitely something to be proud of. Have a good weekend.
Thanks for taking time to do these tests. I saw something that I’d never noticed in your other videos, the front rest on your lead sled is super wobbly. I bet you’d group would have been even tighter with a rock solid front platform to support forend. Just an observation, still love the down to earth videos and set ups that us blue collar folks can appreciate!
I've always had good luck with Core-lokt ammo, but your review has convinced me that these tipped bullets are even better. Thanks for the review!
Thanks for watching
Damn good shooting. I love my 243 weatherby vanguard. It’s always been my most accurate hunting rifle. Really nice trigger.
I love it
In My 30-06 Springfield that's all I've ever Shot , 150 GR CORE-LOKT POINTED SOFT PT ! Bought 2000 rds back in '86 when they brought in the gun registry up here in Canada ! Still have over 1000 rds left ! My old rifle loves the stuff ! I've shot Deer @ 50 ,200 and 400 yrds , Elk @ 200(1986) , 400(1991) and 1150(1999) yrds , 230 yrds(2015) it running up hill , shot high going hit the back of the head , slipped an anther and it stop turned side ways, put one right threw the heart and only broken 1 rib and it slid all the way back down the hill to my feet! !! Moose @ 500(2004), 1230(2017) was what the range finder said shooting from one ridge to the other ! 1 Shot and it flinched and stood for 3 minutes and fell over ! Right threw the heart ! Kept the heart in my fridge in the shop until this spring a cooked it up for my Dog ! I have Hunting stories an video ! LOL Hunting Camp -40 Hot tub , Starchoice sat TV , and Thursday nite Chinese smorg that I put on out at hunting camp for 35 years ! we've had as many as 27 guy's come for the smorg!
Impressive groups with factory rifles and factory ammo! Just goes to show how far technology has come. I'll be trying those green tip Core Lokrs for sure. Next time you're shopping for .243 ammo, grab a box of the 58 grain Varmint rounds. Those little things are very impressive and zip along at almost 4000 fps! Pink mist makers!
I'm gonna get all I can find!
Can you drop a hint as to where to pick up some 243 boolats...I sure cant find much..also love the content....would like to see the 25-06 vs 243 clay test
Following, it's been relatively scarce for 8-9 years around here. I don't remember the last box I bought in a store as a matter of fact, and now haven't seen it online in what seems like 2 years. I about to start casting my own I think because I can't even find bullets to load with
@@Ifitfitz22 243 or 25-06?
@@ULFISHGETTER .243 I did track down some 100 gr ppu SP and I picked up some powder and found 80 or so brass... Now looking for large rifle primers. Still wouldn't mind playing with that arsenal casting mould one day but this will get me by for the time being
@@Ifitfitz22 243 is fairly common where I live
@@ULFISHGETTER if we have any on the shelves here, it's varmint rounds... I hadn't consistently found ammo for the .243 around here for 8-9 years though, that's when I started picking up a few other calibers. When I was growing up you could find 308 243 30-06 and 270 at every gas station around. I had been ordering online for several years but that all but dried up 2 years ago
Thanks for doing this caliber with this remington ammo. I need 243 ammo for my remington 700 I just got. Awsome shooting.
Ooh very nice!
I'm glad to see Remington ammo on market again with great accuracy to boot!
Absolutely
Good shooting Who Tee! The new core lokt tipped shoots really well. I'm getting sub MOA out of my A Bolt 06 with 150gr. The performance on deer has been great so far as well.
The quality of that weatherby is awesome nice group I have the same gun in 25-06
That Weatherby grouped really well! Can't beat that!
Love the Weatherby
The MCarbo kit for the Savage Axis will make a world of difference for your heavy trigger. It will quickly cut the trigger pull weight in half if not more.
Just upgrade to the accutrigger cheaper and better and you can adjust from 5lbs-1.5lbs so you can set the trigger how you like it
@@TheShmeebitdog the mcarbo kit is $20. I actually prefer it over the accu trigger
@@TheShmeebitdog he already has the axis. The kit costs less than the new rifle he would have to buy.
@@TheShmeebitdog I've had Axis models, and the accutrigger doesn't go down that low of a pull...Mcarbo is 100% better
I think the Weatherby is going to do better!
They both did good! I was surprised! Good shooting!🇺🇲✝️🇺🇲
Yes Sir That’s impressive ! Remington got it right with this round . And the man behind the guns got it right too .
Good shooting there WTW, never had any trouble with core locks. It’s always been good ammo for me and my family. Thanks again for fun and informative videos every day. Happy holidays to the WTW FAMILY AND FANS. 👍🇺🇸
Hey Joel!
I knew the Weatherby would win, I'm not a fan of Savage axis either. I've used the old Remington Core Lokt's and have had great luck with them. 243 is an excellent caliber, that Weatherby is a beautiful rifle.
I love that song at the end, I never miss it.
Appreciate you watching
@@WHOTEEWHO I Really love that song, Buddy Brown Style. 🙂
Remington is back! I’m happy about that! Looks like some good ammo WTW!
Thanks for starting this core lokt tipped ammo series with one of my favorites, the 243. My M700 is also ammo picky and I have to reload the 95gr Noslers to get the best performance
The Weatherby is Gorgeous, I'd be happy with either one!
I concur, that Weatherby is beautiful.
Gotta love Weatherby
Excellent groups with both, especially the Weatherby. Nice shooting!
Thanks for watching Mike!
"How many of you" question at the beginning was me Thanksgiving morning looking at a multi point buck across a 1000 foot field through my cheap 6-24x scope thinking, "if this wasn't a 7.62x39 and instead a 270, I would take this shot.
Well now this was a interesting video and the Remington core lock tipped seems to be a very consistent and accurate round. I have used the old Remington core lock rounds for years and have always taken deer with them easy enough, but was never impressed with their grouping. I am going to have to try the Remington core lock tipped maybe next year deer season when I can find some. Around this part of the country I have never even seen any up for sale.
I am impressed with it a ton
I haven't seen any yet but I'll have to check online and sign up for in stock alerts if I can.
Where did you happen to find these? I haven’t found them any where for any caliber in Chattanooga…or online for that matter.
I love your videos. You’re the best.
You're the best!
YOU just gave me a new respect for the 243
That Weatherby is my bueno! Of course the Savage is very bueno too! Great video!
I have got a vanguard vgx deluxe with a 24 inch barrel in have had for 30 years! It will shoot 1/2 inch all day every day with a 95 ballistic tip.
Shewee. Very nice
Missed the Premier, amazing group from both thanks Adam.
Hey Randy
If you get the time take 15 min and slap a Mcarbo spring kit in that Axis. Cheap, easy to do and cut that trigger in half. Never tried something like that until I got a Axis and man the difference. Thanks for another great video.
Thanks David
It's great to see Remington back in action and in top form!
I hope they make .45 colt again soon, I could do with some more....
I have a Axis 308. It’s a great gun for $300 about 6 years ago
Hey Dale! This one impressed me
Been waiting to see this and i like what i saw. Thanks!
Thanks for watching
@@WHOTEEWHO for sure buddy. As i said the other day i have used core loct for years. I've always though their rimfire stuff was crap though so what i've really wondered since the new ownership is if it has got any better. (hint hint wink wink) lol I really hope it has but yes i enjoy these videos, you are welcome.
Well Sir my Grandsons put this ammo to the test, Both boys took nice 8 point bucks this week. NO track up needed DOA on both..
Awesome
I’m going to try them in my Remington 700 its a great shooter those tipped Core-lokt rounds might just compliment it thanks for the info brother
I never killified a deer at more than 100 yards (plus or minus a few yards) in GA or TN using a rifle chambered in .250 Savage/.25-06/.308/.35 Rem…not so concerned with caliber used within reasonable distances we find locally …but more so with the human aspect of ability and training…your videos are epic…keep them up my TN Bro 😊
🙏🙏🙏
Remington Core-Lokt is great ammo - I'm from the old generation and have killed deer with the older Remington 180Gr Pointed Soft Point Core Lokt in 30.06 and the deer usually jumped up and back about 3 ft and went straight down and DOA! Great stuff! So I bet the newer stuff is just as good or better.
I would have loved to seen what the bullet looked like opened up to show the expansion. Say compared to Hornady’s SST or GMX rounds. I can only imagine it’s got to be pretty awesome but I do the ammo I shoot to collect so I can see the total expansion to know what kind of damage and what I’ll use it on whether it’s deer or varmints.
that's the stuff! only found your channel about a year ago but i've seen you get three in a line a few times but i think that's the first time i've seen you get 4
Best i remember. Appreciate you watching Billy!
I learn something every video . Excellent presentation 👏. Late but always watching 👀.
Cool 😎. Thanks again. 👍😎🙏
Always appreciate you watching Peter
Freaking great shooting WTW! Always see that ammo for other calibers, might have to try it
🙏🙏🙏
WOW, the Weatherby lined up 4 touching!
If you take your trigger assembly apart on your savage and cut the Spring be very careful but you can get it down to a 2 pound trigger cut a 1/2 a ring off at a time and check it with a scale. At 100 yards with winchester varmint 58 grains I had a 1/8" group
Thanks for sharing your review of Core Lokt Tipped rounds in Vanguard and Savage Axis rifles.
Something worth noting, MCARBO makes a trigger upgrade kit for the Savage Axis that provides a 40% trigger pull reduction.
Good to see you... I really enjoy your videos !
Me crying because I can’t even find standard 80 grain for the past 6 months
Great ammo test... Both of those rifles shot very accurate
I haven’t seen that stuff on the selves around where I live yet.
Very impressive
Impressive.
Even a blind hog finds a acorn now and then ,, looks like Remington is making a come back... 243 is my go to gun ,,,
😆😆😆
your cold bore shot is what you need to be concerned with. if the 2 an 3 or even 4th shot is a concern and the spreed is consistent then you should split the difference with the scope if that makes sense, i have a few guns that the cold bore shot is always 1 inch from the dot and 2nd and 3rd are in the dot or touching it. then i split the difference when adjusting the scope never had a problem, hope this little tip might help it has worked for me over the years . i never adjust over more than 3 shots only and if the POI is pretty consistent.
My savage axis in .243 will do a 3/4inch group with Hornady superformance. They are great budget rifles with the right ammo
off that shaky rest and barrel heated up, good shooting out of both rifles
mine 270 win Axis had so bad bolt that i had to garage- jewel it with the grinder and scratch the surface of the bolt , also inside receiver groves polished. Trigger was so rough that I had to lock my butt chicks to pull it. After 3 hours of polishing and grinding I made it to work descent. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.
Just found you on RUclips. Glad I did nice videos. I grew up with the green and yellow box Remingtons. I've shot quite a few deer with a 30 30 marlin and a 243 Remington semi auto. Have always been great bullets. The tipped ones look even better. I grew up in West Virginia. Go Mountaineers!!!
Thanks for watching Shelby!
My Savage axis in 270 tears a ragged holewith my handlods.👍🤩
I love the videos, always find myself watching them. I'd love it if you would do a video on the good old triple duce!
Commenters say try M-CARBO trigger set up it really works you will be very happy with your Savage rifles. But you have to love a Weatherby.
On ballistics gell seems within an inch in penetration but more damage on the way. On game seems to penetrate a lot more must slice it like the air. Pass throughs on everything with 308
Love my Weatherby rifles accurate and smooth trigger. Also that ammo is impressive. Stay safe.
Thanks for watching Mark
That weatherby was putting them in there I have a lot of savage rifles but don’t own a axis that was good shooting with factory ammo WTW with a clean rifle always fire a spoiler on first shot
Get a Cabela’s covenant scope for that savage axis then see what that rifle will do
Great shooting! Love the Weatherby!
Always appreciate you watching Bruce
I've always had great luck with Savage, until I bought an Axis. It was garbage all around and wouldn't group any factory ammo that I tried. It has since found another home.
Got my money on the Weatherby. Never shot the core lokt tipped bullots but I am a huge fan of Core Lokt. All I use for deer.
Now I have to try loading that for my Savage Axis!
Pretty interesting this new ammo has come out right after Remington ammo split with Remington Arms. This could be a sign of good things to come from Remington Ammo.
I'm REALLY liking your vids!!
Thanks for watching Andrew
Definitely looks like Remington stepped up there game
That Weatherby sure had a good group with that ammo. The Savage wasn't too shabby either.
That stuff is good but hard to find here in TX 🤣. Thank God I started to handload few years back. .243win really kicked it into high gear for me cuz you know as well as I do how hard it is to find .243win in stock. My .243 is a Ruger American Standard and loves almost any bullet just about but really loves 90-100gr. Those rounds look like some of the 95gr Sierra Game Changers I like to load. Sierra Bullets are my favorite so far but I've gotten smaller more varmint size Hornady VMax bullets to run well too. .243win so far one my favorite rounds to handload, super easy.
Oh yea I forgot to mention that Ruger also loves that cheap Monarch 100gr SP from Academy (great brass too) and loves Federal Blue Box 100gr (cheap stuff too).
Love your channel. Great job. You’re busy making great videos and obviously taking care of your family, too. If you can find the time to take the bases off all of your Axis rifles and screw the bases and rings tight, I think you will achieve better groups. They just aren’t always very tight from the factory. They usually have leftover machining oil also allowing them to loosen slightly. Vanguards are great, too. Thank you!
Good idea. Appreciate you watching Ryan
The consisantcy with the axis isn't even close to my savage model 10 and up, but I have two axis 2 that shoot 1/2-3/4 inch groups. The axis is a very budget design though.
We’ve got 2 Axis in .243 and they both group under an inch consistently with federal blue box 100 grain and federal trophy copper 85 grain. The one with an accutrigger is easier to shoot. Have one in .223 and .30-06 as well with standard trigger I put a lighter spring in and they also shoot under an inch.
I have a early 2000s Savage model 10 Walmart special that shoots Federal 100gr soft points into a 1.25-1.5 inch circle. I believe the rifle is capible of even better accuracy with a person who is a better shot than I am.
not a fan of the original core lokt, but the new ones there look impressive.
I've had good luck so far
I haven't seen this ammo on the shelves locally, but I am ready to give it a try. Nice shooting.
And a Who Tee break dance? Yes, give us some. :)
Wow great groups
This is the 2nd video of yours I have watched and it seems that your Savage axis is like mine and shoots better and more consistently after a couple of fouling shots .
Thanks for the info my friend i like it
👍👍
Savage...... not surprised..... im going to give this ammo a try. Thank you for the video.
Thanks for watching Willis
Love the 243
THIS! IS ABOUT TO BE A REALLY FUN VIDEO!
I agree!!!
