What iOS are you running on the iPad? What firmware version are you running on the RC2? I have a feeling that this may also factor into the success of this working or not.
So just checked fly app on the DJI RC 2 is v1.15.0 and Ipad pro (12.9-inch 3rd gen) is ipados 18.0 (22a3354) I just tried to set up since it’s been a while since I used it and it worked perfectly first time no issues and I always keep my software up-to-date and every time I go back to do the process it works every time regardless said what software version I’m on .
@@Dadtech. Thanks so much. I had tried this process a month ago with no luck so I returned the components to Amazon....going to try again based on your video. I'm using the iPad mini 6th generation which should also work based on the research I've found. Not sure if you've heard anything about that model. It has USB-C vs the usual apple connection.
@@Dadtech. Hey there. So I reordered the 2 components and gave it another try on my iPad Mini (6th gen) and IT WORKED!!! I had to restart my iPad same as you did in the video but it worked perfectly from there on out. Really appreciate your video!!
Thanks for this video, the simple step of turning on the dji remote as the last step, with the usb-c to hdmi connector plugged in, with an external screen or ipad ready with the hdmi to usb-c interface for receiving the signal, is the clue to make this working!
@AC-id2bo I don’t think its on the phone store, only ipad. I just tried to find it and couldn’t. Also on play store but not sure if its just for tables or phones as well.
its so frustrating that you can't just do this simply like when using the Avata 2 and goggles 3 where its just plug in a single usb C cable to goggles and ipad, open DJI fly and goto camera view and it just works.
Have a mavic 3 classic drone with a RC controller. Bought all the same leads and have the same iPad. Got to the point with the colour screen with Orion but nothing after that. Do you know if I need a RC Pro controller or should a RC controller work.
Hi, I owned Mavic 2 Advanced with smart controller that have HDMI port. Can I directly use the hdmi port on RC and connect it to usb C port on tablet to use the tablet as second screen? Thanks
@HilmyBinRusli Honestly I am not an expert on what works with what. Iv heard its only the new Rc 2 only but the fact it has a HDMI port would suggest it would work because the app is just reading the video input from the hdmi. Let me know if it works. Thanks fir the question.
Hey Dad Tech guy, thanks for the video. However, it is pronounced Orion as in the constellation O-RI-ON. Connecting the iPad to and external display device is tricky. Going back to when everyone wanted the iPad to connect with an external monitor. Really frustrating to get the order of connecting the devices was always the hangup. I hear connecting to an Android (Samsung tablet) was the way to go- least on 51 Drones demo. Thanks for giving it a go, mate.
O-RI-ON makes more sense than what I was saying lol and agree, the android set up seems so much easier. Iv got the ipad process down now that iv done it a bunch!
@tower1241 Thanks for watching! Iv heard this whole set up is better and easier on android devices so have no doubt it would work on your Galaxy tab 8. Worst case is you spend a small amount on the cables and it doesn’t work then just return the cables. But im certain it will be good. Let us know either way.
Unfortunately the output isn’t a “clean” output. It still contains all the DJI video controller overlays on the screen. Wish there was a way of removing all that, and only have “clean” drone video.
Konu hakkinda uzman oldugunuzu dusunerek bir soru sormak istiyorum. Bir dronum var ekranli kumanli type c cikisli. Bi tanede ipad mini 6 var type c girisli. Yazilim güncel. @bastascozum8009 So what drone are you using? DJI? If so you’ll need the DJI RC 2 if its a different company remote then as long as its outputting its video signal out of its usb c it should work. Let me know this info and I can advise you a little better.
Okay, So that should work. I am sure you played around with it to see if other methods worked and making sure the last step was turning on the controller right? Did you get the colored lines on the screen before plugging in correct?
@@Dadtech. Hi, No, the screen never changed. I could see that the iPad had recognised there was a cable plugged in, but the Orion app did not work, a bit like you, I tried ever combination to get it to work, I even downloaded similar apps and tested both parts of the cable on other divices to make sure they worked, but to no avail, I wonder if a RC2 firmware update has knocked this feature out? Cheers
@harveymphotography1032 I just shot a video with an update on if this still works for me, ill release it today but the quick answer for you was it did work for me and all the softwares are on the newest version so its interesting your not getting g it to work. It did take me 3 times to get it to work but eventually it did.
@supermaxxi1 ok, i wanted to make sure it was the RC2 because I dont think I was too clear in my video. And you turned off your ipad and back on like i did? (Simple i know but it can be tricky as you saw) and last step was turn on controller right? (I have no doubt you are doing it correctly, I just want to rule out the obvious stuff)
I follow you in everything The last step is to turn on the controller. I'm not sure what to do next. I turned off and restarted the iPad several times. When I plugged in the cable, it showed a black screen. But the screen doesn't change to color bar.thanks
almost returned the cable. finally worked after watching you. Thank you very much!
Every time iv tried new cables iv done the exact same thing and then randomly it works lol

Then you are exactly who I made this for, glad it helped! @bohenderson
Thank you for the detailed explanation.
You are welcome

Exactly, and all the other wrong ways I have tried until I stubbed on the correct way lol
Like computers.. always start with a fresh reboot on the ipad. When it goes in sleep mode some drivers get corrupted.
Great advice!
Hi. What software do I need to use to connect my TABLET with DJI remoto control ?
If its an ipad you’ll use Orion. Not sure for android tablets but iv heard its 100% easier.
Thanks for the video.
How do you find this app in the App Store? I’ve searched but con not find it
@AC-id2bo I don’t think its on the phone store, only ipad. I just tried to find it and couldn’t. Also on play store but not sure if its just for tables or phones as well.

I know hopefully it’s coming soon because it’s such a great technology
Tried this with the iPad pro 13" and didnt get it to work, tried different on/off, different order, still no luck, no signal ;(
At any point do you get the colored lines?
Same issue here, but I was using the Anker brand for the adapters. I’ll be testing this out again with a brand that you recommend.
Sounds good, let me know :)
@@Dadtech. no colored lines, but i have also a Anker problem, waiting for another brand to test.
@thorsten6174 let me know how it goes then we can know if Anker is good or not

I believe its the rc2 only

I dont think so, usb c to hdmi in, hdmi to usb c. I think the hdmi in is the important part for the ipad.
Hi, Great vid. Thanks.
Do you have a source for the back plate adapter on the RC2?
Yes let me know if this is the mount you mean
amzn.to/4fwvVTc
@@Dadtech. Cool, thanks, that's it. I have a couple of Small Rig clamps in the collection. Easier to ask if the holes line up than to modify one.
This one aligns with rc1 & 2. I made the mistake of getting the wrong one lol
I tried many times. It doesn’t work, just with the black pop-up page showing “no signal”
What hardware are you using? (Controller etc)
can rc 2 connect to macbook screen?
@RafiArtsMovie I dont think so. The ipad app situation is very finicky as it is. I havnt came across any app or software outside or Orion that works.

And as soon as you said that I thought Orion Pictures for 90s movies
I’ve watched 10 videos and no one states if you can use wifi only iPad,of if you need cellular ipad
Great question, no cellular needed
Thank you so much! It was very helpful. 🙏
Glad it helped, thank you

Cela fonctionne t’il avec la rc1 ?

D’accord, merci
