Using you smart controller as a hdmi input monitor... ( Crystalsky tablet?)

  • It is possible to use DJI hardware as a monitor, should you require an HDMI input device...
(Tested on smart controller tablet but currently not on Crystalsky hardware)
Using a cheap USB capture card ( obtained from eBay or Amazon)
And an FPV viewer app which communicates the video signal to the tablet hardware... The FPV viewer app can be found on Google Play Store or apk pure.com...
( be aware screen resolution is standard definition at a 4:3 aspect which distorts on a 16:9 screen )
The software app I’m using might stretch to modern 16:9 aspect resolution from standard definition...
But alternatively you can search for “Endoscope HD” and find a higher quality video viewer with 16:9 aspect resolution...
Currently, the quick test look of my smart controller makes it possible to use my 1000 nit DJI controller as a HDMI input monitor...
The possibility of using the same method to a Crystalsky device is quite likely... although the processor is a weaker quad-core processor...
An educated guess would suggest the video might struggle to handle the conversion due to the hardware being so much older on the Crystalsky...

nice video, noticed the USB is 3.0 , maybe a 3.0 usb device will get lower latency, about 50ms, while 2.0 device is 100-150ms(From Taobao or Aliexpress)

@@user-li1pb3kl4u I would assume all wire data travels within the laws of physics and that the video data speeds isn’t limited by the usb mode protocols…
Then again clock speeds and the handshake routine may have changed… I really just don’t know to have a opinion on it 🤷‍♂️

@@slifox2752 maybe the smapling speed matters, just bought a MS2130 usb hdmi device, will try it.

Hi nice and interresting video. I saw on youtube couple of guys using their DJI FPV googles to stream videos with an APK (digiview) and only a usb c cable...
Since this video did you tried to connect your smart controller on your Crystalsky ?
    Thanks for reply
(Sorry for my English i'm french...)

It’s possible to use a Crystalsky as a monitor with a USB hdmi device… but the 4core processor on that old tablet will struggle to maintain a decent refreshrate… the 6 core processor of the older smart controller can still perform with good results…
So I recommend decent device that’s not too old to be used for a monitor…
