9 years ago I saw this video and it inspired me to go to osaka. Today I went to this exact spot, the same guy works there and I showed him your video and took a picture with him. Really fun
How wonderful! This brought back so many memories from my trip 5 years ago. I was in Kyoto, and there was a stand selling Wasabi and egg takoyaki, it was the most pungent and ridiculously spicy takoyaki I had eaten in all of Japan, but the people there just ate it like nothing.
I had the pleasure of meeting this town with my son. It is a fascinating place that mixes the ancient Japanese culture with contemporary modernity, moreover, has a magnificent culinary. I recommend!
It's been 4 months since we visited Japan and I miss the food terribly. We can get some of it here, but it just isn't as good as the genuine stuff. Will definitely return one day to eat from north to south.
jjaus I think just EATING is one of the biggest reasons people come and COME BACK!! I would miss it so much if I ever left ... and when I leave for vacation, nothing beats that first bowl of ramen or plate of sushi :) paradise! -John
"kuidaore" actually means "eat until you go bankrupt" "kuidaore", "kidaore" = "buy clothes until you go bankrupt", and "nedaore" = "build house until you go bankrupt". These three constitute one set. Many Japanese are also misunderstanding it, tho.

It is my dream to walk among the beautiful streets of Osaka. To live there and experience the greatly rich foods and culture would be a dream come true! It is videos like this that only further motivate me to make such a jump. Thanks, gentlemen!
While Kevin Riley was eating the Osaka Gyoza, I noticed the background music was from the first season of an anime called Runouni Kenshin (Samurai X) one of my favorite anime :)
I think your videos are really great ! Very nice rythm , narration , visual , etc ... it,s pro stuff ! I'm not a big fan of otaku culture ( was once, when i was much younger ) but I am a lover of Japanese food and this episode was a delight to me :D ! Can't wait to go back sometime ... おつかれ
I visited Osaka 5 years ago and Dotonbori was my fave place. Ate at a bunch of places including Kani Doraku where I had my first REAL crab sushi. Totally amazing!
I've been to Osaka's Dotonbori 2 years ago. It's so nice ! a lot of street food, and just as you said, don't wear thigh pants. This brings back the memories, I will visit Osaka again next time I go to Japan.
I am always fascinated and curious of Japan and its culture by watching anime and reading mangas. I would love to visit it someday. 😊 Thanks for your video uploads!
great videos! seen you on Journeys in Japan also! could you recommend the best area to stay in Osaka? convenient, easy walking to shops and great eats.
lol don't feel bad, I was watching this with my wife and screamed for her to rewind that so I could listen. I instantly knew where it was from! I love that song!
Kevin reminds me a lot of my dad they even look similar. A lot of Japanese people were intimidated by my dad, but he loved talking to people there. My dad lived in Japan for about 19 to 20 years?? so very similar. I can't wait to go there and try out all of the awesome foods myself!
Thank you Stans Annonymous we've got amazingly fantastic viewers here, and I'm always so encouraged by the feedback to keep making more! Appreciate the support and feedback very much! -John
I believe in a later episode, he said he was from Canada. Also to add to why his accent hasn't changed, he is living in a country where not many people speak English. I'm sure when he speaks Japanese he has a Japanese accent however because not may people in Japan can speak English he most likely doesn't hear the mixed accent of Japanese-English that often. If he had lived in the southern part of the US, England or Quebec Canada, his accent most likely would have changed.
Going back to Japan in six weeks and my hotel is on Dotonbori. I am so looking forward to eating takoyaki again. I love takoyaki. You can get it where I live but nothing will beat it straight from Osaka.
Hi john i love all your videos coz i like japan so much but haven't been there but still i feel like i'm in japan when i watch your videos. but japan is so expensive, you said dotonbouri is famous for cheap food but i find it so expensive as tiny single piece of shrimp, and those crab legs cost so much of yen. i wonder how much do the food costs at the top restaurants in japan. lol!!
+Peace Zone Thanks for watching and happy to hear that you love the show! Japan is the home to the most Michelin Star restaurants in the world! You are getting good food here. It is much cheaper than a restaurant. In general, cheap is one coin, 500 yen -- for a meal. The kushikatsu was a little pricey, I thought. You can save money by eating from grocery stores and convenient stores but -- why travel all the way here and not EAT well!! That's one of the top reasons to come to Japan -- EAT \(^_^)/ where did you visit in Japan? By the way, I sometimes write for tokyocheapo.com which is a great budget site for visitors! Highly recommend. -john
+ONLY in JAPAN I haven't been to Japan yet. I just feel like it's expensive there by looking all the videos. someday I'll come to Japan coz I have always loved Japan so much... thank you for replying!!
+Peace Zone The food in the video is all cheap! 6 dumplings for 200 yen, that's only about $1.80. In general 100yen = $1 but it's actually a bit less (actually it's about 100yen = $.88)

What goes down must come up ... or something like that. lol I know how you feel though. In Japan, it's so easy to eat (and drink) way too much and feel the wrath the next morning! Maybe we have to pace ourselves better :P -John
That guy has the most stereotypical "American Japanese" I have ever heard. Lol Of course it's not bad, same as a Japanese person speaking English with an accent.
I always appreciate your comments, astroboy3507 Osaka was amazing and I want to make more programs about Kansai in the future. Japan is a lot bigger than people think. -john
When he ate that takoyaki in one whole bite I knew he was about to feel the BURN
I hope most of these stores survive the pandemic. Everything looks delicious.

Japan is such a beautiful balance between *modernity* (Tokyo, et al.) and *tradition* (Kyoto, Nara, etc.) --- not to mention astounding nature too. 👌

One of the best street foods in the world is in Japan. Such a really good food and beautiful place to visit to.
Lmao. "It's smoking hot.", *puts whole takoyaki in mouth immediately.* suffers from burns 😅😅😅😅
Who'd have thunk that THAT could happen?!?
ONLY in JAPAN I would a brought a fire extinguisher, because better safe than sorry.
Hahaha that was happened to me my mouth burns need to drink water too
CHUCKIE'S BRIDE people hope it doesnt injure them and they can enjoy the food a few minutes earlier. most dont have a favorable outcome

Kevin said "あかん"(akan)
which means "Don't do it!" in Japanese.
His pronunciation is very good.
Actually in Kansai (Osaka) dialect
one of the best time lapses ever...
2:43 Sobakasu
I love your channel.... really high quality...
2:05 do I hear rurouni kenshin's opening?

Haha! I'm with Kevin in Kyoto now filming another food episode and let him respond himself. Thanks for the comment! -John
18 years in Osaka and still speaking Japanese with a heavy American accent ^(>.
Great video. Great place. Looks like takoyaki for lunch today!
The most obvious difference is that it's made in Osaka. Of course that makes it better. LOL
I really like this channel, only place on youtube that seems to be idiot free! Keep up the great work
Thank you Stans Annonymous we've got amazingly fantastic viewers here, and I'm always so encouraged by the feedback to keep making more! Appreciate the support and feedback very much! -John
ahhhh i love takoyaki! yes always wait if they are fresh out the kitchen lol cmon john you just wanted to goof for the camera
your videos are just amazing, I mean I do watch a lot of vlogs, and other videos but yours are truly amazing.
That guy has lived there for 18 years and still has the heaviest American accent.
Everyone doesn't pick up accents quickly or even at all. Some people can live someplace for many years and never pick up an accent.
I believe in a later episode, he said he was from Canada. Also to add to why his accent hasn't changed, he is living in a country where not many people speak English. If he had lived in the southern part of the US, England or Quebec Canada, his accent most likely would have changed.
Why would I want to get rid of my accent?
ONLY in JAPAN i know right? He sounds smooth as hell.
ONLY in JAPAN Because it's cringy.
Going back to Japan in six weeks and my hotel is on Dotonbori. I am so looking forward to eating takoyaki again. I love takoyaki. You can get it where I live but nothing will beat it straight from Osaka.

Does he legit have a flip phone?
Mr. Chibiterasu Japanese Flip phones or keitai can do way more that’s those flip phones u think off, but they’re being replaced by smartphones
Yes I've noticed in Japan that flip phones are more common than Western smartphones. They hang lots of charms on them too. 😊
The Power Station yup, sadly that they are going away slowly
@@Daan03 What a shame. My brother in law still has one. 😔
GREAT VIDEO....... You have so many great videos.... I'm not sure where I'll start when I get to Japan!!!!!

That guy has the most stereotypical "American Japanese" I have ever heard. Lol Of course it's not bad, same as a Japanese person speaking English with an accent.
GREAT! video. ...as always.
Kevin sound so stereo typically foreign when speaking Japanese.
Lai Parco Absolutely, but he is much better than most in my opinion! And he actually tries to be respectful to the culture.
Yeah, I know. I just thought it's kind of funny.
Lai Parco I dont disagree ^^
Will I ever be able to experience Japan again like this? 😔
食い倒れは、食べることにお金を使いすぎて財産をなくしてしまう、という意味もあります。
