    Often “ watchers” are people who are selling a similar item and want to know what you will get when you sell yours. It doesn’t always mean that seriously watching it because if somebody wants something they will usually offer straight away.

      I sometimes watch an item in the hopes the seller offers me! If there is no best offer option and the seller isn't shifting it , watch it and they can send you a discounted price offer 🫴

      This so true because I've done this🤷🏾‍♂️😅 recently with a lot of my Collectible Comic Books. A seller has about the same comics and the same amount of books as me so I want to see what his sell for lolo 😂😂 there's a method to the madness 😅

    So funny you mention the breathing time... I used to set best offer on everything, right when I listed. A few weeks ago I was really noticing that a lot of my really good items were selling fast, but usually because people were watching them and then I was sending an immediate offer, so they were selling for lower than what they were worth. Yes, it was a quick sale, but I decided I'd try not putting best offer on and NOT sending an offer for 7 days. Since that change, I have already sold quite a few things for full price in the first week that in the past I probably would have sold for lower. I have a reminder each day to go in and add best offer to anything over a week old. It's quick and easy and has been working well for me. Thanks for the great content!

    I turn on offers and set promoted rate to 5% for every item when I list. My sales are pretty evenly divided in thirds (full price, offers sent, offers accepted). I am fine with the promotion rate because it puts it pretty close to Poshmark's 20% fee and only about half of my sales are promoted anyways. I'm definitely more of a fast nickle seller. I have very limited space (45sqft of floor space which has 4 storage racks and houses 450 listings plus shipping supplies). So with that, a quick flip gets money in my pocket and frees up space to add a new listing.

    I bet over half my sales are through best offer. And like you mentioned, I’ve also heard the activity is very good for the items in their search ranking. If I spent two dollars on something that I think is worth 30 but somebody’s willing to pay $20 today right this second, sold without hesitation. We’re here to turn money into more money.

      Same here and plenty still buy at full price. And if your confident with an item you can always try to push that 20 offered today to 25.

    I have "best offer" on all my listings. I decide how low I go based on how popular the item is and how long it has been for sale. About 60% still sell for full price. I've had plenty offers that are insulting, but I don't have to accept. I also usually decline low first offers rather than counter, to weed out non-serious buyers.

    I really appreciate your no nonsense delivery. You gave us all some good food for thought today. I have been running consistent sales and BO. I am rethinking that strategy as my items require a certain buyer that is looking for it. Price seems less important than if they want the item now.

    I always list everything with Best Offer enabled, with no minimum. The reason is, I have had many sales where the buyer offered a silly amount, such as $1 for a $90 item, which instead of declining, I instead will counter with a few bucks off, like $86. You would not believe the amount of people that will then accept that offer.
    Also, I always accept offers that are reasonable, such as just a few bucks off. Makes the buyer feel like they got a great deal, and I get a quicker sale with almost the same amount of profit as if it sat there for another month.
    It should be noted however, that I sell a very specialized niche on ebay. I specialize in US collectible coins.

      I sell clothing but do the exact same thing as you regarding best offer. Even if someone makes a stupid low offer I still interact with it by making a counter Offer. I find that this makes the item more visible to other buyers and I start to get more interest on that item than previously.

      yea remember once someone lowballed me on a best offer, I countered with like only $5 off with a note that my set price already was the lowest price for this item on ebay, and the person bought it.

    I was reading in the Ebay Community Boards a term I thought was perfect for bored and nosey watchers that never buy : Career Watchers. They will literally watch your item for months or even years.

    This is a great video explaining some pros and cons of the BO feature. I personally have it on all my active listings. I’m in the business of making money. I could turn off BO but that may mean my inventory moving slower and having thousands of items sitting and waiting for a buyer.

    I took an offer for 20$ on a lord of the rings chess set. I got it at the swapmeet for 2$. My goal is to give what would make me buy. Low prices that are negotiable, fast shipping, and a high standard for customer service. I buy low so I can sell low and fast.

    Hey Justin, you’ve very quickly become one of my go-to content creators to help fast track my reselling learning curve, big ups! I have a question regarding sell-through rate. How does volume affect STR? Plenty of times I come across an item that has 1 active listing and 1 sold in the past 90 days. Technically it has a 100% STR but I don’t feel confident to pick it up as I question whether I have enough data points to assess demand. Any thoughts on this? Any further digging I can do in these situations to assess its desirability? Any help appreciated 🙏

    Good vid! I use offers to figure out what an item is worth if I am unsure. Price it high and if I get several offers in the same range, the market it telling me its actual value and I can price accodingly. I also find that most of my items with offers enabled still sell at asking price (mostly cameras and older electronics although I just sold a Disney bowling ball at full asking price for $110 with offers on). I think a lot of people hate to negotiate and so just pay asking price - but that might vary by the niche you are in, too, I suppose.

    Liked this video. I'm a professional buyer. I see items I can flip listed so low that I am in a panic to Buy It Now. I see items listed for TEN YEARS at sky high prices. Usually what I see is listed auctions starting at the lowest price the seller would be happy with & also buy it now at prices he would be ecstatic to get. I often get offers to sell at prices that are far above the market value.

    Correct, the "watchers" are usually nosy Sellers. Just set your price to what you feel is fair and profitable (not greedy) and leave it as that. You can always set the amount to the lowest you will accept automatically. There are many people who send the most ridiculous offers, example, you have a listed price of $48 and the offer comes in at $10; immediate Decline to that kind of offer. Always let the offer sit UNLESS you are desperate for money - and true minute you get a low offer usually someone else comes and just purchases it from you for the full asking price before you even respond to the low offer Buyer. The "Bulk" offer is only if you have a Paid Ebay Store. Patience is key.

    Appreciate the content! You have a nice smooth delivery. There are many things I could comment on, the only one I'll mention is when a seller sends me an offer on an item I've watched or looked at, if it's not at least 20% off or more, I usually ignore it.

    One of the collectables I'll buy frequently on ebay, is heavy on the use of the "best offer" to the point where it is just accepted that when listing items the buyer puts it like $10 or $20 above what is wanted, then send out offers to watchers asking for the true desired price, and as a buyer more times than not if I click the "watching" button, day or two later I'll have an offer sent to me for less than the original asking price so as a buyer why not just click the button and wait it out, and if no offer gets sent out, then I know the set price is the firm price.

    if u sell trading cards, best offers promote bulk purchases. card is priced at 2.50 plus shipping, they offer 7 plus shipping for 3 cards. ill always take those

    I never turn best offers on but I do send offers. Many buyers accept my offer if I send it not long after they clicked to watch it. If I wait too long, sending an offer usually does not result in a sale. I send offers every morning to “wake my store up” and then later around supper time when people are shopping late.

    The vast majority of my listings have best offers on, say 95%, and it’s even out in my description as my first frequently asked question that I do accept sensible offers. And maybe 1 in 6 or 7 items sells from an offer instead of full price. And most of the time the person is asking for £2/£3 off an item that’s priced at £25+.
    You’d be stupid to ignore this feature if you’ve purchased at the right prices and listed at the right prices. I’d rather have an item sell and make me £15 than hang onto it for months and make me £17

    I do know one thing about accepting offers....I usually get another sell minutes after accepting the offer. at least 50% of the time. Accepting offers usually gets sales rolling especially on a slow day.

    I sell used buisness industrial. I had a watcher on one item for some years. Then i learned of delist relist. End listing and sell similar. And item sold i think i got an offer by some one else and sold. For some reason i dont think it was the wather who had it om his watch list for some years. So in the past relist delist worked to get item more visible. Ive sold an item had several clicks in advertizing. I delist relist it at lower price and some one got me an offer like in 10 minutes after relisting it. So as for me i had another sale i saw 3 clicks on an item in advertizing i lower price 10 dollars less then competiion and my item sold about 10 minutes after lowering price. Thats what worked for me. Yes it looks like other people buy your item not the ones that put a watch on your item

    I use best offers all the time. I send them out multiple times a day. As a shopper, when I'm looking for an item I am trying to find the one with the lowest cost that can get to me the fastest. While searching for that item, I would flag those items that I need to compare with a similar item, which shows up as a watched item. If I'm in the middle of shopping and I get an offer for a reduced price and it's lower than everybody else, I'm going to make that purchase right then. Most of the time I forget to remove those watch items. If someone waits to send me an offer a week later, odds are I've already made my purchase. I want to catch my shoppers as they are making a decision.

    Offers and promotions seem to invite bad customers to your store, I've had my whole 1300 item store on 20% off for just over a week now, watchers through the roof, low ball offers non stop, sales down 30%. Considering ending it early sending out bulk offers at the same 20% off then bumping up my promotion listing fee by 5%

    But sometimes sellers will sell if for far more and then say obo. Most sellers look up what other sellers are selling it for then list it the same. There are a lot of things sold for more than what it’s worth. I research other plat forms for better deals.

    I'm new to selling also and the thing I have found annoying is when I give someone an offer, they accept it but then they don't pay for it or respond to any communication. Ebay considers it sold. I do not consider it truly sold until it is paid for. The item is basically taken hostage for 30 days unless I cancel the sale and I'm not sure how a cancellation impacts my good standing as a seller. Am I the only one that struggles with this?

    If I’m offering “free shipping” on the item then I leave best offer Off. I don’t like worrying about calculating the shipping on the fly vs the amount of profit. 😊

    Some say, "The first money is the best money." Personally, I try to put everything at a fair price, no offers. It works for me. Of course, there are always a few people who will message with some insulting price anyway.

    I have best offers on with a minimum. I send offers to watchers. I would say 25% of the time they take the offer or pay me a few dollars lower. It all depends on what you are selling.

    I went to buy a $30 item and it had OBO so I offered $28.50 the seller came back with $29.00 ...... I clearly did not buy the item as I thought that was a fair offer and felt like what is the point of this on there listing.

    Recent example of an offer. The item is listed at 42.50 , the price is comped and a solid number. Got an offer for 30.00 , the offer is low in my opinion but im a new seller and an easy target so to speak. My auto accept is set at 37.00 , always set at 5.00 less than the listing price. When i counter offer at 37.00 i get an auto message saying this is to high for the buyer and less likely to sell. This has happened twice in the last week on different items. My question is , does eBay give the buyer the option of auto accept on/off on a counteroffer ? or is it the Algorithm knowing the buyers transaction history ?

      I do not believe eBay gives the buyer that option. That message from eBay is likely based on the average sale price for the item in question. Personally, I ignore it.

      @@justinresells yes, I've come to the same conclusion. eBay considers a low ball offer at 50% of the listing price at 51% it is not. The algorithm tries to remove or is unable to understand the art of a negotiation , it's all historical in the moment data.

    I turn on offers for 90% of my listings. I always like the person who sends 50% of the asking price, then counter offer with what I need only to have them come back with the same lowball offer.

    Best Offer Means = I’m selling more items than you, thus making more money than you (my competition quicker). If I paid $5 for that item and sell it for $100 obo and it sells for $80 it’s a WIN! Period.

    Some peopl;e just like to haggle and I get it so I accept offers and check minimum bid for 2 or 3 less. This eliminates the low ballers and makes the hagglers happy. It seems to work for me.

    I don't do best offer. I know what my items sell for on the internet and if there are prior sales of a particular item I will beat that price by a little bit but not much when pricing my items.
    Now,if I get a notification that someone is interested in one of my items I will send them an offer with a small price reduction.
    I am in no hurry to give my items away.

    I leave offers off on most items but still get "questions" about an item that is a lowball offer. I've previously accepted offers and then had a non pay which means my item was unavailable to others just like an auction. I can't remember how long eBay gives an accepted offer to pay before it can be cancelled and made available again.

    Keep best offers on, Shoot them an offer within a few dollars of your asking price especially for items under $50. This item isn't for the guy asking you to ship it all the way to Florida for $10 free shipping & that's what I tell them if they rebutt at all. Can't afford it, it's not for them. Develop a thicker skin think of yourself as the grocery store cashier, let the BS roll off of you & continue forward as people troll you. You will get trolls every once in awhile but ultimately they get trolled in the end when you stick to your guns. Offers are also limited now so they can only spam you so much, just keep spamming them back for the bump in the algo. Go down by one cent. Be careful not to make a typo I once had a $70 item sell for $6. Which was supposed to be a $60 item, I typed it correctly but the internet signal dropped the 0 I suspect. I ended up canceling that one & saying to him lowest price I will take today is 55, item ended up selling like a week later for full price.
    One of Lindey Glen's Methods. It still works but the economy is even worse now than it was before. Primarily because of the gas price increase I would think.

      @@justinresells Fair enough ..I would have took it and flipped the money into more stock .Maybe thats a rare Tee in the USA here in London we have a different market for vintage Tee shirts .
      Anyway no offence just writing as a Twenty year veteran clothes reseller here.. im in the sales business not the storage business learned that the hard way ..That was quite a lot of money to turn down on a freebie item especally with the current sales climate .🤠

    High-quality video... as per normal. Your ... "breathing time" I think is way too short. 4-6 weeks allows an average Ebayer time to find an item. I collect a couple niche items, typically I'll see 30-40 items listed... and really only search for those keywords every once in and while. One week is too short.

      It really depends on what you're selling and how high the demand is. If it's a high demand product, let it breath for a shorter amount of time. If it's a low demand product, let it breath for a longer amount.
