If it is wrong to feel weirdly connected to a strange man on the internet, I don’t wanna be right.
who are you calling strange?!
@@justinresells😂
Wrong I don’t see why, strange maybe. But your not the only one who is strange I am included😅
I prepackage items that are large or unusual packaging. I found this helps me put in the correct info for the calculated shipping. Thanks for the videos Justin
I thought I was so smart and well organized when I briefly experimented with prepackaging my items...until I sent the wrong package to someone.
Now the only time I will prepackage is if I'm selling a multi-item (lot) listing. Then nothing is misplaced or left behind.
Prepackaging a book lot is one of the few examples when the box or media-mail shipping method will not change.
Never tape up your prepackaged items, you still need to "see" everything inside before you ship!
Thanks Justin. I’ve been confused about sell similar and relist. Everyone has an opinion. I’m small potatoes but I plan on ramping up in January. Just retired early at 62 and this is a pretty nice way to generate some additional income. I sold off a lot of my corporate life clothes which generated 3k, now I’m wearing Birkenstocks and sweatshirts and need to find inventory!
your video you talked about how to list anything 4 min or less was amazing. I learned so much!
Glad it was helpful!
Hi Justin. I have a list of favorite eBay sellers on YouTub that I listen to most days. Just found your channel recently and have binged it so much. Impressed. I particularly like your straight forward approach, you keep a fast pace with no fluff.
thank you!
LOVE this type of video where you answer questions. Please do more of these! They are so incredibly helpful. Very grateful for all your time and help!!!!!
Thanks Justin. Great concise answers to questions. Look forward to the future videos you mentioned which would be good for the community.
I sold my 2 jet skis a few years ago thru Ebay. Very easy to set up shipping with a trucking company. Buyer gets to choose the trucking company of their choice with the best rate. All steps are provided while listing your item.
thanks for sharing!
$10k a month as a part timer!? Holy cow! I'd be thrilled with half that!
The graph he put up showed 11k gross in 90 days not 30.
@@domatnycthat’s still good for part time lmao
Yeah to be clear I don't make $10k gross currently as I am not solely focused on reselling (even in a part-time capacity) -- I am split between not only the day job but RUclips, building an app, etc. But in the past when reselling was my only side hustle i was regularly doing $10k a month gross.
Always great info. I appreciate what you do.
Thank you for mentioning demand. So many sellers just assume that everything on ebay will sell and that demand comes and goes. Applying every hack to improve a listing will matter very little if people aren't looking for it!
Excellent run through. Very quick and comprehensive, good questions. Cheers.
Thank you so much for your channel! I have learned so much listening to your videos. It’s all super interesting. Really appreciate it.
The API info was helpful. I was curious about that. Thank you!
Chiming in on the freight thing. My boss and I were buying pallets from a Seattle thrift outlet and shipping them to Portland, Or. We used a LTL broker (less than a truck load) to shop carriers that could do the job. Most of the time it was Saia, Yellow or Oak Harbor that delivered the goods. Thank God we had a loading dock and a pallet jack at the office. Keep up the good content!
thanks for sharing!
Thanks, for answering my questions 😊
I would love to see a video on ending the listing and relisting or sell similar.
Hi Justin, I don't have a question, but I just wanted to say I really appreciate your videos. I still think of your "listing is most important" / 9 items 36 mins a day video. I tell myself that I list to eventually earn extra money for my family, and knowing that listing is needed to do that motivates me a lot. Especially since I am just starting out and super slow at everything. Thanks again and have a nice day!!
thanks James, that’s nice to hear and helps keep me motivated to keep making videos! best of luck to you in 2024
Another great video! I’ve done the sell similar, delist/relist and revise listing and I personally do not think one is more advantageous over the other as far as the algorithm is concerned. I will say to those struggling with sales, maximize every character you can in the title. You never know what keyword someone uses to product search. Just my opinion. I think it all falls into the method you prefer and what has worked.
A store subscription is beneficial even if someone doesn't need all of the listings because of the reduced final value fees. So if someone sells about $2500/mo or more than the savings pay for the store ($22/mo). If a lot of electronics then its less than that, but if media only then its more.
Thanks for the great information. Getting ready to go full time as a seller.
Best of luck!
I do a bin system shelf 1 is BIN A1 - A18 then on the SKU if I assign new inventory I also add the purchase price. Example BIN A1-300 so I know the inventory is located in BIN A1 & the item cost $3.00 that's how I do my inventory system.
I do mine exactly the same way. It's nice to know the purchase price in the SKU.
I use to prepackage my ebay listings and had them in a neat system, then people kept asking random questions about certain items, then i had to cut open boxes and move stuff around, now i store things in open boxes....lol
Great Q and A video! Which flea market do you go to?
I go to the one in Lemay, near Lemay Ferry and River City Casino blvd, but it is closed for the season. It usually opens back up in Feb sometime.
@@justinresells thanks I didn’t know about that one.
Your videos are so helpful and down to earth. Do you have any buyer beware tips surrounding buying pallets? What search terms are you looking for on FB to find them?
thank you! my biggest advice for pallets is to buy locally, not from the internet
My mail handler told me she makes more money on days I schedule pick ups and have a bunch of packages
I drop 25+ probably 3-4 days a week and i always feel like the people at the counter in the post office feel like I’m overwhelming them
I delivered mail for a year and a half here in the republic of Texas.. from what I understand the “regular” (which is fancy term for the mail carrier who is assigned to that route permanently i.e. they attained the status of having been granted that route.. it’s theirs… They DO get some tiny fractional compensation for picking up and scanning packages “scheduled pickup” and as much as it’s a hassle, it’s part of the job and it can be enjoyable bonding with your customer like that. But in most cases you’ve got an “RCA” handling your mail, RCA stands for rural carrier associate or you could have a CCA (city carrier associate) just depends where you’re situated. For the RCA, it’s a pain in the butt but it’s also part of the job & they get paid for it. Just not like the extra that the full-timeer professional. Hope this helps.
If you have access to one of those kiosk machines where you can scan your packages to get the tracking started, and a receipt, then the post office now more or less “owns” that package, that’s way better than standing in line, waiting for the clerk to have to weigh each package after you’ve stood in line behind 10 other people. Yeah, they generally hate it when you bring packages to the counter.
You might eventually graduate to being able to bring your packages to the back to put in a hamper and there’s also other ways to track your packages by setting it up through their website to get tracking information but the gold standard is to have the package scanned not just drop it off in a slot or a hamper or with the carrier out on the route.
We did that a year ago and lost, for nearly a week, almost 2 dozen packages during the ice storm that we had, and only after I rattled some cages with the regular he looked into it, and within an hour they mysteriously showed up. 😮
Needless to say we’ve never dropped packages off with the RCA’s or really anyone else on the route for that matter. If it’s late, you can also go around the back and ask for some grace, but we’ve also met with opposition in that regard saying it was too late, even though we both knew that it wasn’t. They can just be like that. It’s a very very difficult job.
Check to see if your post office has a back loading dock. They may allow package drop off back there when you have a lot of packages.
mine does. i use it when we have a bunch
Other than meeting people to source bulk items, what are some online sites you might use to source bulk inventory?
I've never bought pallets or bulk inventory online so I can't help you out much. Sorry!
I had a thought for you Justin. What if you did interviews with other EBay sellers where you talk about challenges as well as successes. You could interview large stores as well as smaller EBay stores.
thanks for the feedback! i’ve considered doing something like this, so will keep thinking on it.
You could also have some of your subscribers submit their stores for you to look at where you could offer suggestions and feedback based on needs that they have. Kind of like an expert coming in on an episode of kitchen nightmares. Maybe items aren’t selling, picture quality could improve. Or items are priced incorrectly. Just a thought. Love your content!
Justin, with the WhatNot question, you have to think, you have almost 20k subs, probably not all of them watch your videos all the time, but if you could get potentially 20k eyeballs on an item in your ebay store would you do it? Even if they could potentially sell for less?
Yes a video of relisting old posts please! 🙏 Thank you for the shared knowledge 🤗
My big issue is figuring out shipping. How do you put a price on shipping is you don’t prepackage? I’m also confused when I see everyone shipping in the priority boxes… do you get them free from post office and are they a fixed price or calculated price? It’s all very hard for me to figure out and would appreciate a video on shipping.. thanks I appreciate your videos they are extremely helpful!
Yes they make priority flat rate envelopes ect. For free from the PO
Hey Justin. Live in the St, Louis area. I do reselling on the side, to fund my other hobbies 😁. As we know, in the part of the country, garage sales stop during the winter months. Do you switch gears when sourcing during the winter months, or just basically continue with what you currently do minus the garage sales until the warmer months? Thanks, great channel. And cool to see someone from my neck of the woods doing some videos.
Hi neighbor! Yeah I switch it up in the winter. I do more thrift stores and estate sales than I do during the garage sale season. During garage sale season I usually try to go out Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday mornings, schedule permitting.
So I’m not a big fan of free shipping. But, on some high dollar heavier items I’m debating with myself about offering free shipping and adjusting the sale price upward to avoid eBay stealing money from shipping costs. Your thoughts?

I've seen people talk about and use uShip as a frieght shipper. This person does furniture resell on eBay and ships all over. There are videos on YT about how to use it.
People need to be cautious prepackaging/prebagging their items. I've received multiple orders recently with faint brown/yellow stains looking like they were water damaged, or with mold spots. they appear to have been prebagged as they were in bags with sku numbers on them.
Is there a way to do a bulk end listing and sell similar or do you have to do them all individually?
Yes! Go to you active listings on eBay, select all and click actions -> End. Then pop over to your ended listings and select all again and click sell similar.
@@justinresells when doing that, do you need to add pics, item specifics, prices, shipping etc or is all that saved and ready to go when relisting then again? Is it really true that if you don’t do this then your listing go stale when they auto relist? I’ve heard both sides of the coin. How do we know it’s true that relisting really helps or not?
Great questions!
no it’s all saved. and we will never really know if it truly works or not of course. only ebay knows and they don’t share info like that. but i have enough experience and evidence to feel that it works. i suggest you try and see for yourself and decide if it is worth it for you!
I have been extremely anxious for your app to be released. I have been holding off on using anything else but really wamt a fresh start beginning 01/01/2024. Do you expect that it will be open by then?
I don't know if we will be public by Jan 1 or not, but if you're interested in beta testing it I can probably get you in earlier. Email me at justin@flipwise.app.
@@justinresells Done!
Justin, I'm guessing that's a Metallica shirt you are wearing. Right on, Brother!!! Good Vlog.
it is! got it when they toured here in STL - great show
Another great Q&A. I noticed you are using AI now for listing descriptions. Assuming you are testing it out. How’s it working? I tried it didn’t see any change in sales and found descriptions were over the top and super wordy. Can you talk about your AI insights on an upcoming video?
Yes, I have been testing the AI descriptions. Going well so far, but I don't think it has impacted sales or anything. My gut still says that a majority of buyers don't even read the description. Will continue to test though!
@@justinresells Agreed. Your descriptions don’t look as bad as when AI feature was first offered so maybe it’s better now.
Relist and Sell similar are the same?!?!?
I would have assumed that when eBay gives it a new item number (sell similar)that would be SIGNIFICANTLY different than keeping the old number(relist)
But your saying that is not correct
(For what it is worth I am assuming you know better than I do… I was just working off assumptions)
Relist and sell similar are not the same.
eBay gives it a new item number when you relist and when you sell similar. They are the same.
Another advantage of an eBay store is that your Final Value fees are lower with a store.
Thanks for taking my question about shipping with a freight company ( I went with Old Dominion)
On a side note, are you still looking for a way to make thin and crispy waffles? If so, I just bought a VTG GE Automatic Grill Waffle Maker. They are amazing.
💪💪💪💪
I hate to list but like to ship wife is vise versa guess we r opposite of u guys
My dad is a bee keeper and wants me to sell his honey online. I’m afraid of potential legal threats (say, unknowing parents give their baby raw honey and baby gets botulism).
Is there any laws/rules against selling raw honey.
not sure, you’d want to check with the marketplace you’re considering selling it on
You must have a very small account? 250 free listings and 30 cents for everything else? You said 50.00 for an eBay store? I have an eBay store and I pay 21.00 a month
$4.95 basic store gives you slightly lower fees and ability to do promotions, sales, coupons.
(I hope it's not inappropriate to suggest another channel's vid here...) ZIK Analytics has a short video about when it's most cost effective to start a store, and they break down exactly how many listings per each store tier. It's called "When To Get An eBay Store Subscription | eBay Store Costs & Levels EXPLAINED (2023)". Very helpful for the people asking! That's not to say you shouldn't also make a vid with your thoughts on this 😊
