While I very much agree that if China were forcefully democratised after say WW2, they would be an unstable and a massive mess.
But most people who suggest that, actually unknowingly don’t.
They suggest putting the Kuomintang in power as sole government.
      Like in the video’s scenario.
The Kuomintang were hardly democratic in that era.
After Yuan Shikai tried to declare himself emperor all pretext of democracy was thrown out the window, and hardline military dictatorship took over in the following warlord era, and continued through the Japanese invasion, and the civil war.
The Kuomintang didn’t drop the military dictatorship even when reduced to just Taiwan until 1987, when democracy was restored, specifically to prevent unrest and republican revolt.
A unified China under the Kuomintang of Chiang Kai-shek would have been a brutal oppressive hell hole, worse than the atrocities that happened under Mao.
They weren’t democratic, they were authoritarian nationalists and would have ruled as they did in Taiwan under Chiang Kai-shek, with an iron fist without mercy.

6:53 Despite making it impossible to get a nuke to Paris with airplanes from such a gigantic distance from fighting, Paris is the place where communism was born it's both ldlotlc and incoherent, France also wouldn't follow blindly NATO plan and probably retain diplomatic ties with USSR to stop the war quickly and preferably gain something from it. The only viable targets would be closer to the fighting and be NATO bases in Germany and if an insane plan to attack a capital it would be London to be a blow to both Europe and USA, as Paris getting removed from the map would mean very little to NATO and even be secretly welcomed as it's centered around american domination and only France have it's own route they follow without american interference.

Interesting video. I've been bingeing your channel recently and I'm thankful for all the content.
It's a fun thought experiment - but out of all times there could have been a WW3 between Soviet and the US - right after WW2 would have been the absolute worst for the communist bloc. It's unthinkable really, that an utterly spent Russia would wage an offensive war against the richest and mightiest alliance of all time - with nuclear weapons ready.
The people mostly worshipped Stalin, and Russian morale was extraordinary in their existential struggle against the nazis - but for a territorial land-grab, I think the Russian people would be near the breaking point... They'd not perform very well in this war at all.
But this is so difficult without knowing what the actual peace conference was like.
(Having seen the catastrophe that was the Nazi invasion of Russia, I'm sure NATO wouldn't be so eager either 😅)

You're missing a critical event that happened in our world and would have been even more severe in this one: the Soviets uprooting what little industrial equipment that remained in eastern Europe and transporting it back to the USSR. A Soviet Union that was told it had to return to 1938 borders wouldn't stop there. They would rip up the rail lines just for the scrap metal. The Poland, Czechoslovakia, Baltic states, and Prussia created here would be plunged in to a catastrophic famine with no way to transport the meagre food they do produce. Stalin wanted to reduce Germany to a nation of subsistence farmers. His withdrawing army would guarantee it.

this idea that everyone other than russia hated being in the USSR and would rise up immediately given the chance has always confounded me. the ukrainian SSR has, at least as far as history goes, definitely not been the most cooperative, and neither have the baltic SSRs given the USSR basically annexed them. but the vast majority of the USSR stayed in the union voluntarily from its foundation up until its dissolution, and even during that dissolution many of the post-soviet states were unsure as where to go next and many joined the newly formed russian sphere anyways, including but not limited to belarus, kazakhstan, and the many SSRs that ended up joining the russian federation. the USSR wasn't some hellstate from 1984, the citizens always had many issues with it and it did lack federal popular representation to a great degree but at no point did issues ever boil over close enough for the idea of total national separation to even be considered, and I highly doubt such an idea would stick when the USSR is actively being invaded by the very nations they've always feared

So, why not do something for WW3? A late Cold War, 1980s/1990s WW3 sort of thing, after Détente went far better and there's less nukes to throw around. There's a bunch of video ideas from that: How the war happened, a REDFOR victory scenario, a BLUFOR victory scenario, and then viewer's voting on the peace deals of both outcomes, and then the videos of how these peace deals turn out.
