I saw everyones comments about audio problems from the last video. I reworked the entire capturing method so please let me know if this setup works better!
The quality of video and audio is fantastic! As soon as the video started I was like “wow” 😲and I’m not a video/audio guy! Cheers, great content, surprised to hear good things about Android
Yep. The US is the only place with that issue. It's kind of amusing to see how users across the world is like "who cares?" and people in the US are like "WE WILL CAST YOU OUT AND NOT BE FRIENDS OR DATE YOU IF YOU DON'T HAVE AN iPHONE!!!!" RCS is now on the iPhone though so the "I won't be friends or date you" crowd SHOULD slowly die out (a lot of iPhone people I know haven't updated to the new iOS yet though).
As an Apple guy (now), I love hearing about positive experiences with the Windows/Android ecosystem. I keep one foot in Windows land (mostly because of gaming); I'm enjoying my (overpriced) 2023 Dell XPS 9530. It works ok with my iPhone, thanks to Phone Link, but nothing at the moment compares to my 16" M1 Pro, which is why I went back to iPhone (14PM). I loved my Galaxy Watch but prefer my Apple Watch 8, even if the battery on the Galaxy Watch absolutely crushes Apple's. All in all, consumers should want competitors to succeed since we win in the end.
What's the point of competition if at the end of the day people still end up buying apple devices even when competitors have equivalent or at times better products, depending on the person that it. The truth is a lot of our purchase decisions and opinions are still based on fashion
@@lvseka ... and habit. Competition is at the level of the manufacturer, which do take into consideration what competitors make. They don't want to eventually lose their customers, especially the sheep. Consumers habituated to choose one product over the other still win, albeit it indirectly. They get better products, even if maybe not the best.
@@lvseka I won’t buy a product from a different company just because they nailed it this time. I have a whole Apple ecosystem at home. Makes no sense to throw a „foreign“ device in there that can’t communicate with all the other stuff. They have to come up with good arguments to convince me. „You will save a couple of hundred money!“ is not a good argument btw. I don’t care about it that much. I like the ecosystem that I‘m used to, it works for me. I will not change anything because Samsony or whoever offers 5 more megapixels on a phone camera.
@@Dornavver Makes sense if you are just out there looking for an eco system. It depends on your needs. I've seen people who will insist on owning a MacBook even though the software they need to use to earn a living aren't on Mac. Not many are even aware of the ecosystem. We might be but for many out there, it's just the cool devices to have.
Quick point on the iMessage thing. Apple users do the same thing in Android groups. If you have a group entirely dedicated to Android users, messages will automatically switch to RCS which is basically our version of iMessage. Having one Apple user will break this though, so many Android users don't even know about this.
As the Windows mobile OS was dying, I switched to Android and entered the wild west rooting scene for about eight years. As OEM skins improved (after incorporating many of the features developed by the custom ROM community), I found the need to root phones diminish. At age 71, I decided to switch to iOS and ditched my OnePlus McLaren phone and Samsung Tab S4 for the 2020 SE and iPad Air Gen 3 in April 2020; I lasted four months before switching back to Android (Note 20 and Tab S). I found the iPhone UI to be too restrictive - even after jailbreaking (who thought mandatory upper left justification of apps and widgets was a good idea?) Because of how I use tablets, I didn't mind the software as much on the iPad, but thought the display and especially the sound were subpar. At anyrate, while I might occasionally engage in gentle joshing about the ovine nature of the walled garden inhabitants, I really do appreciate the integration of chip, software, and hardware in the Apple ecosystem (Google is trying to replicate this, but has a long way to go) and understand why most Apple users (including my wife - I'm in a mixed marriage) are happy with iOS. However, if one is looking for liberty, variety, and innovation (how long until Apple invents the flip/fold phone?), then Android is the choice I would recommend.
Couldn't have phrased this better myself. I'm a dual wielder. I'm actually drifting into the Apple ecosystem due to the hardware integration. But both Samsung (and, to a lesser extent, Google) have come miles in their own hardware integration. It's not quite as tight if you've got - as an example - a Pixel phone, and Galaxy watch, but it's getting there with their partnerships. The one area I think Android excels at over Apple is the notification paradigm. I don't know that I'll EVER get used to having to manually swipe down to see what notifications have popped up during my work day. And the logic Apple uses for grouping is slightly annoying. But, the small things, like copying a link on my iPhone and pasting it on my Mac, with no thought, is clutch.
Alright my fellow dual weirder, I believe the Android notification shade is blatantly superior. However, have you noticed that your always get the notifications first on your Apple devices? Sometimes I don’t even get them on my Android phone.
Yeah. That comes down to the flavor of android, and how aggressively they cache apps. The Chinese oems were BAD about this for a while . They've gotten a bit better about it, but the variance is still a drawback
They technically don't have to. They just need to implement RCS like the rest of the world and stop using old SMS/MMS protocol. This will at least allow people to share higher quality videos and pictures between platforms and keep it secure. Android would still be a green bubble but at least it won't suck. Lol
There is an app called beeper and does the same thing as imessage. Chrome unboxed talks about the beeper app on his youtube channel and it even shows the blue bubble on a chromebook whenever messaging someone with an apple device.
@@sailor-m5j it’s going to be tough because in the EU Apple iMessage is not as widely used so they fall under the number of subscribers to be held accountable as having a monopoly on messaging. Here in the states Apple is king. 😆
I'm with you on the running thing - I got an AWU and cellular plan so no longer need my phone on me for runs. I was a Windows PC / Android user for years, and switched to iPhone in 2018. The "system" isn't perfect, but it's great and I would say my excellent MBP Max, AWU, and entire family on iPhones keeps me in this ecosystem. Glad to hear Samsung/Android has upped their game because competition is good for everyone.
I can't agree more with all what did you mention. And because I am from Europe, so no stupid green / blue bubbles are around, I can do whatever I want. That's why I have an Apple laptop, Samsung phone and tablet and the buds from Nothing. And the freedom to change anything anytime.
So opting out of ecosystem advantages. It's frustrating there is no universal ecosystem. But it's not my fault. If you're not ecosystemed you're second class in productivity. You have to pick and go all the way. Once again not my fault but it is what it is.
Well, I was an Android user all my life until I switched for the iPhone 13pro + Apple watch. I still have a Windows pc but I have my eyes on the Mac mini. I had an iPad pro that I changed for a Samsung Tab S9. I am relatively pleased with it, but I'm still getting the hang of it. I am pretty happy with my products, I do miss one or two features I had on my previous phone but stability and reliability is more important for me.
I am android user for 8 year's and one day I switch to iPhone 12 mini, while that is very very good phone and I like the form factor because how small in your hand I still can't comprehend how much I miss theme on android. While yes you can manually change your icon pack or pay monthly subscription for icon pack (which is hilarious) I still want to have every icon change on my phone. So I back to android and choose z flip 3
I use both and mostly due to the family ecosystem with the kids. But I love my zfold. It's the best form factor. Plus I still think apple watch ultra is an anchor for me to stay with Apple as the daily driver. Awesome video and love the highlights of how you weaved in the different products in a day to day.
I used the Fold 3,4 and 5, but after I used the One Plus Open, I gave my fold 5 away Better battery, Macro lens, zoom and a much better front screen...
I just made switch after being iPhone user since my first one in 2007. Galaxy Flip 5 and Watch 6 Classic. Regarding Messages I'm on waiting list for Beeper which promises ability to send Messages through Android. All reviews I've seen says it works. Only unknown is if Apple puts a cease and desist on the app. But I'm loving the change.
"they can be either the easiest thing to use, or the most frustrating" yep that honestly summarizes Apple products as a whole: easy when things work, very difficult when they don't work or you're trying to do something Apple doesn't want you to do...that's why I don't think I'm gonna be getting Apple products unless they give me a really good reason to
Ive been running android (particularly samsung) since 2014 and I never really dug deep into the ecosystem. The most I did was use DeX and texting from my windows PC. But really looking at it, the s9 tablet and the watch look really really useful!
Great video as always. I love tech in general. I have been using Samsung phones since the galaxy s2 with its back the OLED display and it really just sucked me in. I have also been using the iphone since the 6. I have also used several other Android devices (HTC evo, palm pre, google pixel and lg V series). I think that Samsung is the Apple of Android personally. I dont have to switch as I have a S23U and Iphone 14PM. The only other apple device I have is the SS graphite 47mm apple watch to use when i use my iphone. I think that both ecosystems are great with their respective companies however the Samsung eco system works seamlessly with my gaming desktop and work station. I use mainly google drive and photos so I can access photos and files anywhere from any device. I will say the stock samsung gallery app is leagues better than the ios photo app. I will be getting (i know terrible reason and i dont suggest) the iphone 15pm solely for the titanuim body, upgraded cameras, thinner bezels and first and foremost USB C. I can finally rid my home of all the lightnening cables and have a universal cable now. All new products that I purchase have USB C. I recently sold my 12.9 inch ipad pro because the Tab S9 Ultra is suchh a beast and much easier to work with, multitask and my microsoft and office apps work much better on it. Luckily for me my friends and family is like a 55-45 split between the phones so group messaing on stock apps hasnt really been an issue at all. As for your statement about family sharing and stuff, both my kids have different phones and any time they request sharing or money or whatever the case may be, I am able to access it from any of my devices. It may just be app dependant on whatever you are using. But hats off to both companies. They can co exist lol they are just phones and tablets after all, just pick what suits you best. I will say that through all the years samsung has had much better offerings and sales than apple but on the other hand apple resale value is higher.
I was a die hard Android fan for many years. After I started using a MacBook, and then tried the rest, I can’t go back despite a good number of shortcomings in iOS in particular. It’s like you said about communicating from a Mac. Having everything there, I simply rarely have to pull my phone out during the day. And while the AirPods are indeed glitchy at times, they more than make up for it with the Pro and Mac’ insanely good transparency modes and noise cancellation, and the surround sound when listening to Apple TV based shows using the AirPods. I wish Apple created a Z Fold equivalent. I love the Z Fold, and it’s a single device I would happily replace both my phone and tablet with. But using a MacBook, and the family issues you referenced, make this at this stage; not enough for me to consider switching back.
I did the same thing for roughly a year, but I came back to Apple due to how seamless things were since a majority of my family use Apple phones as well. Android was nice (only used Samsung at least) but I still use my Tab S7 :)
Good video. I've spent time in both ecosystems. Apple vs Android is like Pepsi vs Coke. Both get the job done, but there are zealots in each camp that wouldn't touch the other for any reason.
So I guess Apple's strategy works? Build the walls around the products so people can't leave when they see something better. I am guilty of these as well but I can't help feeling sad for giving away choice 😣
I just jumped to the conclusion in all those american videos, "...i'll be back to iphone" for the blue bubble. I'm glad that in other countries we choose our phones without thinking about bubbles and I'm glad I didn't spend my time on this video.
I used to always go back and forth but I have a 13 pro for 2 years and in that time I feel like Apple caught up to android feature wise, but still has all the amazing Apple exclusive and ecosystem features. I tried android again with an s23 ultra and it was a great phone but I feel like it’s a too much of a loss and bought a iPhone 15 pro 😅
I was only apple for the past 4 years and recently went back to Android. I am so happy I made the switch. I became bored of the iPhone and love the ability to customize for productivity on Android better.
I use to have Samsung back in 2017 the S8 and I loved it, it was ahead of its time, but then I bought a iPhone 11 and been with Apple ever since, I’m seriously considering breaking this taboo of Apple in America and explore other eco systems such as the Nothing company, google and even Samsung
I did both and it is not worth it. Apple still seems to win the ecosystem game seamlessly. Unless you have Samsung appliances like fridge, washer, etc. then it will be worth it.
@@lakkadbagga I have the fold 5, watch 5, tab s8 ultra, and galaxy book 3 pro. I also have the complete line up on apple’s side + speakers and ATV. I delegated my apple devices for work and samsung for personal use.
I've always loved the functionality, flexibility, and freedom you get with the androids. I currently rock a z fold 3 and it's my work horse for my job and personal life being a multi tasking monster. However for social events and basic use Iphone seems to be better.
@@ThomasHoellriegl my freedom will happen on Christmas for me please wish me luck I get it I’m tired of Apple it’s nothing to do I don’t know why so many people defending Apple and I heard this is good for gaming too so on Christmas I think I will be switching to android or in January
As someone with sensory processing disorder having an Android phone with more customizable settings works best for me, I tried having an iPhone once it was kind of a nightmare because of how few settings I could change to work for me
Yeah, I found that interesting, too. Apple is known for accessibility and for accessibility apps. I actually almost throw up even watching videos on how many decisions someone has to make for the Samsung. I love the fact that the IPhones have the ability to make everything simpler for people with brain processing issues. I found your comment fascinating.
Apple is better for ease of use. Most of my sensory issues are visual and textures... so being able to change the whole color scheme to something that doesn't cause a pain response is great. Having an app drawer helps with busy-ness on my screen. Granted apple has probably made great improvements since I tried them like a decade ago... hepatic feedback makes my skin crowl... I damn near cried I was so happy when the adaptive screen brightness came out
@@guineverevickers8813 I moved almost all of my apps off of the front page and keep my screen brightness low, so maybe we have some issues in common. Who knows. The haptic touch is adjustable in the accessibility section.
I use both, S22 Ultra as a work phone, and iPhone SE2 as personal. I have a 16" M1 Macbook Pro and an apple watch - and my wife uses Apple - we enjoy findmy and airdrop, etc. But don't make me give up the Samsung. I prefer Android Auto in my truck, and I have a big Samsung TV in my livingroom on which I can cast my S22 phone screen, or wirelessly use DEX. I would not want to choose only one system over the other!!
Fantastic video. I for one used to be a die hard Android user but switched to Apple due to hard ware longevity and support. I also work in the wireless industry and I’m constantly helping people with their phones. I have to say that sadly majority of people who have damaged phones due to hard issues, or people who get so much add ware making their phones unusable seems to happen more often on android devices. Apple’s walled garden while having some annoyances really shines by protecting its users from most of the junk and adware that’s all over the play store. Apple in my opinion is far more secure than android. But by far the biggest reason I will probably never switch to android is the device support and hard ware longevity. Apples devices seem to last longer and are supported for far longer than most android manufacturers.
@@tim04688I'm a huge Android fan. The pixel 8 pro isn't going to last that long with the G3 chip. I'm typing this on the 8 pro now and expect Google to break that promise especially with their AI push now.
I began switching from Samsung two years ago, when I decided to buy the iPad Air 4…based on Gary’s review of said iPad. In the Fall of 2021…I decided to buy an M1 MacBook Air and AirPods Pro 1st Gen based on Gary’s and Unlkr’s review of the M1 Air. In March of 2022, I got my first iPhone…256 g 13, starlight. I just bought a 9th Gen, base model IPad 64gb model. I will also likely pick up a second M1 MacBook Air….or M2 Mac Mini. I have a side gig as an event/mobile DJ. I love apple and have never once wanted to go back to Android/windows. I was a Samsung guy for years…I had the Samsung Galaxy S3, S4, S8+, Note 9, Note 10+ and S20 FE. The last good Samsung was the Note 9. It would take a lot for me to go back to Samsung/Windows.
Phone design, Dex, Secure Folder, and dual applications are the reasons why i like samsung better. And i agree their laptop game is not good, the other mobile devices are good.
I watched so many videos like this.. everybody loves Android at the end.. some even stay.. but when an Android user tries Apple.. They never stay and have found Apple a little frustrating.. Android is just about better.. I been using it from the start
I switched from Samsung to Apple because of the watch - the only one I did not have problems with on my small wrist. I tested out a LOT of smart watches.... I am glad that Samsung is catching up to the ecosystem that apple has. But I absolutely love how Apple products work, android gives me too many choices and that was starting to stress me out LOL
I have both an android (fold 5 switched from pixel 7 pro) and iPhone (14 pro). I just love my fold. I don't have any iMessage lock ins or anything. I am not reliant on any apple app. I genuinely feel the fold is a better and definitely more interesting device.
I'll be switching back to Apple this year for the first time since the iPhone 4. Partially because of iMessage but I also want to see how the other side is.
I would LOVE the Samsung S23 Ultra but, like you, I can't give up the Apple ecosystem because my family uses Apple and it works seamlessly. I've tried the workarounds for Android but they become frustrating. Don't forget visual voicemail can be a pain depending on your carrier and whether your phone is locked or not. With the updates to the Apple watch and iOS coming in the next week or so, it's not a good time to switch anyway.
@@jamescassar5348no man it’s seriously difficult to switch apple just ties you so much to their system and the seamlessness is just addictive and i dont wanna buy new tvs new speakers and stuff fir an ecosystem. and tbh its just alot of capital abd time to switch
@@jamescassar5348 Based on this video, it's not a bubble and the logo, but the ecosystem that peoples families are in. I think the whole blue/green bubble thing is just stupid reporting because i've never run across this problem in the real world. I only use android, i've never used iphones, and I've never had anyone complain to me about some color of my bubble or whatever. As far as i'm concerned, this is their issue (as mentioned in the video about breaking his families chats), it's not an issue on my phone. The only annoying thing was the 'Liked 'blah blah blah' text messages that we used to get (they fixed that, but not for me, since i use google voice and not standard sms and google may never fix google voice).
see my latest comments i posted to gary in the main section, about imessage to android applications. i am a tester of the sunbird application in fact..
I tried switching grub Android to iOS about a year ago, but I ended up going back to Android. The two things that I really missed from Android was the level of customizability on WearOS, and the media player at the bottom of Google Maps when your navigating.
What AirPods are you talking about? I’ve never had this problem. They connect, that’s it, and you don’t fiddle around with Bluetooth menus. What you said is news to me.
Yes, I’ve gone back and forth. Apple to Google Pixel to Samsung and back to Apple. Android was surprisingly good. I actually prefer my Samsung Z Fold 5 and Watch 6 to my iPhone 14 Pro and Ultra watch…but the rest of my family and most of my friends are Apple. iMessage is a deal breaker and Apple knows it.
If only one AirPod (or Beats earbud) connects: 1) Put them both back in their case and close the lid for a few seconds. 2)Open the case again.Take out the one that won’t connect and put it in your ear. 3) Wait for the chime. 4) Put the other earbud (the one that was working originally) in your other ear.
I feel like for me what I’ve come to realize about Apple is I have the iPhone 15 Pro Max one terabyte and it honestly feels like my iPhone 13 Pro Max, which also felt like my iPhone X I mean as certain point you have to question why you keep on buying the same device over and over again And I feel like Samsung and Google are really making products that speak to consumers and Apple is being lazy and I just can’t do it anymore. I’m really gonna switch back to Samsung because I only have one life to live and I want to have features in my phone that make me excited to use it, Apple is so boring they lost me
I tried to switch a while back. The deal-breaker for me was that I'd miss getting very important group texts when I was the only one in the group on android. Yep, the old iMessage thing again. Had to switch back. I really felt the urge at the time to break out of the "walled garden" and sort of "stick it to the man," but alas, for me it wasn't possible.
I doubt Apple will ever open up imessage and fix that lock in. I used to be an all apple fan, but can't stand the idea of being locked into a group of products because Apple won't play well with others. I wish collectively people in the US would wake up to the monopoly and switch to the great 3rd party chat apps.
I constantly switch between iOS and Android Android has definitely improved a lot over the years I'm currently using Samsung S23 from an iPhone 14 Pro Max
Constantly? Why, besides being rich and needing the next shiny thing constantly? You do realize that smart phones are so incrementally changing that they haven't really changed in about 5 years.
Great Video and loved your honesty in connection with using both systems, I too see pro's and con's with both systems but I am now totally into the Samsung- Android system. I check my APPLE account every now and then but my products are all Samsung. The S8 Ultra is fantastic, like you I hardly use my monitor now and use the S8 Ultra as my " To Go" tablet/ laptop, was given the Samsung 4 watch and love it, will upgrade in the future. Not struggling with the Buds Pro either, everything you have told the viewers I can only reiterate, love that keyboard you have in the background, what make is it? Thanks again for a quality video.
Cool. I'm primarily Android/Windows, but have an ipad because the rest of my family is on IOS.. I won't go IOS on a phone because of the Note series. Love me an S pen.
I switched to Samsung (S23+, Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, ear buds pro, Tab S8+) and a Lenovo ThinkPad laptop several months ago. Its been a mixed bag. I do like the fact that I can use Google messages on my laptop and tablet too. Unfortunately, the one area Samsung cannot keep up is with Music. As a semi-professional drummer all the apps I use work better on iPad and not the Tablet. Dex is a neat capability which I have never needed. The watch is the best Android watch I have used and really close to Apple Watch. The S23+ is pretty nice too but the face unlock is not good and if my hands are dry the finger print scanner doesn’t work. The call quality is excellent though. The ear buds pro are good but they will not stay in my ears. Like I said a mixed bag…great video. Thanks
If you are thinking about it, just do it, I switched last year due to work and my S22 Ultra has 2 sims, I don't have to carry 2 phones. The Switch over was very easy and I am now in the Android/ Samsung ecosystem, I was dubious at first but I don't regret it. Make the decision, stick to it and enjoy geting used to the switch, best advice I can give.
iMessage is an absolute monopoly and it's sad to see teens bullying others because of this. I'm strongly against bullying and Apple for all the good that they claim to do will not fix this. It's sad! It's a similar situation in Australia as well (only amongst teens). But it's not the same in other countries.
Great video!! Ive been back and forth with apple products and samsung products for some time now and ive used iphones for yearsssss. I bought the z flip 5 and im in love with my phone. It makes having a new phone fun again opposed to apples iphone every year being the same. Also recently got a tab s9 and its so fast and great at multitasking that im actually going to get rid of my ipad pro 11 inch with magic keyboard. I love the magic keyboard for ipads however the tab s9 is amazing for note taking the spen is soooo good!! Better than the ipencil in my opinion. Im going back to school in a few weeks and cant wait to use my samsung tablet in school. I agree with you on the macbooks they are better but im been using a surface pro and thats a great laptop also but dont see myself getting rid of my macbook anytime. I really hope apple opens up rcs messaging cause i dont like breaking up group chats as well!! Spot on video thanks!!
Its incredible how apple litterally traps their costumers so intense that its not possible anymore to switch to other devices from other brands. its sad and not even that positive in my oppinion because it makes it impossible for apple users to understand other devices and operating systems. i think its not smart to get locked into that system because you lose all connections to other devices which are much more commonly used. but the people will keep getting locked by apple because its a statussymbol😢
I've never had such a bad problem with AirPods. Sometimes only one of them connects/works, but I just put them back in the case and take them out again and everything is alright. Sure it's annoying sometimes, but it's not nearly as bad as you're saying. That's just my experience, you may have different one.
I've made a similar video like this. iMessage was the biggest pain point for me too and I HATE the fact that it exists the way it does. If there was seamless RCS messaging between iOS and Android I would likely have been using Android all this time.
Curious if you considered trying Beeper for iMessage on an Android phone? I am an iPhone user but always considering other options. I hated the notch and even more hate the dynamic (turd) island. Would you consider this and maybe make a video about using Beeper?
I’m excited about my upcoming challenge as well lol. Back in the day I used Samsung. Owned an Original Samsung, the S3, Note 5 and Edge 7. I ended up shattering my back glass and camera and I went to my carrier (at the time) and they offered me an iPhone 7 for $50 if I gave up my S7 Edge . I was in need of a new phone and I never tried it so I decided to bite the bullet. At the time I wasn’t really too familiar with Apple iPhone so I never owned an iPhone prior. At first it was a little rough but after a while, when the bumps were ironed out. The nice, smooth and ease-of-use experience of the iPhone 7 drew me in! I ended up buying AirPods later on and eventually upgraded to an iPhone XR and most recently my current iPhone 14 Pro. No ironically im back in the same boat!!! I was unfortunate to drop my iPhone 14 Pro and shatter the back glass so when I took it to my Carrier for a repair they now offer me a Z Flip 5!! It’s funny how everything went back around. I have bit the bullet and am now in the process of having a Z Flip shipped to me and now I have a couple days until I make the switch over again!
like yourself i totally changed my whole apple ecosystem to samsung, and that was half a year ago! So far I am enjoying the experiance! It all works great together, just like the apple ecosystem, maybe even better at times!
nice educational video in which it showcases the best and worst of these two tech giants. I want to suggest that you try out the new nothing devices and have a little comparison between both the apple phone, watch and earbuds with the nothing devices that are currently being released to the public.
Enjoyed the thoughtful experiment. Sold me on wanting to help my dad (the only family holdout on the Apple ecosystem) grow into Samsung's tablet, buds, and watch to go with his Galaxy phone, over time. Now back to the Light Side, Gary 😜
I agree with EVERYTHING you said except the Imessage thing. Apart from that, I'm thinking the same way you are, Samsung way better than iphone, but the Macbooks are on another level. Good Review!
I just bought my wife a 14 Pro so I thought I'd give her old iPhone 11 a whirl since the last iPhone I owned was a 4s. I've given it a few days but I'm switching back to my Samsung Note 10+. It comes down to screen size and scalability of text. Apple limits how big you can make text in apps and on System functions. My eyes have gotten worse as I get older and while I can still use the Note 10+ comfortable without glasses, I can't with the iPhone. Maybe I need to try out the 15 Max when it comes out.
Yep, many reviewers miss this point and try to use Phone Link instead... All they have to do is open their Messages app and select device pairing. Text (with RCS) on ANY browser and ANY operating system.
I just switched from iPhone 14PM to the S23+, liking it so far. I also changed from watches from Apple to Samsung. If I do end up going back to the iPhone it will have to be the 13 Series as I am not using a phone that requires ESIM. I do miss Apple messages and the galaxy watch does not compare to the Apple watch.
Why do you care so much about E-SIM? I don't understand this. I used to work in an AT&T store and every day we had people come into the store who had various problems that were fixed by getting a new SIM card. Physical SIM cards go bad all the time and the E-SIM eliminates this issue. Also I was able to switch my entire family over to a new carrier thanks to E-SIM without us all having to get together in person to get a new physical SIM card.
The android messaging app does not need a 3rd party app to text online. You just scan a qr code in your browser on your pc with the messages app and it syncs immediately
I use a galaxy phone with a macbook air, and it works great! Im only using google apps, so stuff syncs between any device you have flawlessly. If you go full google software you have freedom to choose almost whatever hardware you want, be it from Apple, Google, Samsung, Microsoft etc. An ecosystem might sound cool but as a buyer you should really consider what you buy into and how it will affect in the long term. Like, what if your in the apple ecosystem and suddernly apple devices start to fall behind the competision, which i already does in some cases, what would you do then? All i say is that its risky to be brand loyal and lock yoursefl into some brand.
I mainly use Android but have had an iPhone, iPad, and a MacBook. I just don't care for the Apple lock ins. I will say as an Android user there is a difference between Samsung and other makers in that Samsung has more integration with its own devices and Windows. As far as earbuds I have no issues with 3rd party earbuds and in some ways prefer them over proprietary ones.
Apple cult experience is the worst part.... like having to go back because of imessage. Was android as far back as I can remember, switched to iphone 14 pro and apple watch ultra. With S24 ultra launch this month I am going back, just don't like the cult like system Apple has, Apple tells you what you get, no care on you wanting choices, but that was Job's plan. My wife for now is staying iphone, mainly because she answers the phone with it, imessage because of cult issue, and facetime again cult issue.
I've never had an apple product, but very close to making the switch to the iphone 15 pro from the pixel 6 pro. I was so excited for the new pixel lineup when it launched 2 years ago with Google's CPU, but it has been the buggiest android phone I've ever had. I don't care about customization as much these days, I just want the phone to work when I need it to. Plus, top of the line android phones are always huge 6.7" slabs. They need more premium 6" choices.
don't worry: next Wednesday: I BOUGHT THE MAXED OUT IPHONE 15 ULTRA and here is WHY !!! a week later: THE BEST ACCESORRIES for YOUR NEW IPHONE 15 ULTRA , a week later : AIRPODS PRO 3, is it different ? and so on...
POV from literally anywhere else in the world that does not need imessage: 😂😂😂😂 And not everyone has apple devices, they are expensive in most other countries so most people use Google and Google drive
I tend to jump back and forth between Apple and android. I prefer android by a long shot but sometimes I end up missing how Apple products feel. I currently have an S21 and I love it. The only thing I wish I could do is not break the group chats. That’s the only thing I don’t like.
I’m now fully on the Apple ecosystem. Funny thing is that this actually happened in China 😂. So when I moved to China in 2018, my school issued me a MacBook. And then you guys know how Apple does it. Transferring photos from my Samsung phone to the MacBook was such a nightmare. And so I thought, alright let’s just get the iPhone. And once I got my iPhone, I was like, the Apple Watch will be a good fit. And then I got my iPad Pro too. I used iPhone 3G when it first launched. Stopped at iPhone 4. Before moving to BlackBerry and Android. But back then, I wasn’t fully invested in the ecosystem.
It's a massive disappointment
Huh
This was a great absolutely great channel about apple ecosystem. Not it’s starting to look like any other ordinary channel. Good bye.
Just saying, alltrails came to WearOS (what android watches run on) in October :)
As a non US based user. I find that imessage fiasco ridiculous.
Well that's because he's an apple fanboy and he has to return the phone before being fully charged, he's never going to leave Apple
Left Apple a few years ago and have been using a Fold4 as my daily as well as a Galaxy watch 4 with the Tab S8 Plus. Love love love it!
Such a dope combo 💯
I think your issue was the devices you bought. Personally I wouldn’t recommend the iPhone SE to anybody, i’d instead recommend a past flagship.
@@ghost_gamer8921 yup the battery on SEs are terrible. better off just spend xtra $200 and getting base model iphone (less perhaps for a refurb one).
@@ghost_gamer8921 Naw I've been using the 15 pro max and I also agree the software is too restrictive. I really miss android and plan to return it.
wtf are you trying to do? 😭
My grandpa is the same age as you are, I tried to explain to him what internet was 2 weeks ago, he answered " can you send fax to people??"
The shared clipboard can also be activated if you have a Samsung S Series Phone and a Windows PC through the phone link app.
I doubt Apple would ever willingly open their Messages apps to other platforms, it would cause iPhone sells to drop.
Sure would!!!
Just wait until EU forces them to
@@sailor-m5j it’s going to be tough because in the EU Apple iMessage is not as widely used so they fall under the number of subscribers to be held accountable as having a monopoly on messaging.
How's file transfers using an iphone on a windows pc?
I am android user for 8 year's and one day I switch to iPhone 12 mini, while that is very very good phone and I like the form factor because how small in your hand I still can't comprehend how much I miss theme on android. While yes you can manually change your icon pack or pay monthly subscription for icon pack (which is hilarious) I still want to have every icon change on my phone. So I back to android and choose z flip 3
finally!! someone recognises how GOOD the samsung)/Android ecosystem for more than just 2 days😌 awesome video Gary
You were much more objective to android and Samsung than i expected. From a die hard Android fanboy well done!
"they can be either the easiest thing to use, or the most frustrating"
yep that honestly summarizes Apple products as a whole: easy when things work, very difficult when they don't work or you're trying to do something Apple doesn't want you to do...that's why I don't think I'm gonna be getting Apple products unless they give me a really good reason to
Ive been running android (particularly samsung) since 2014 and I never really dug deep into the ecosystem.
Be interesting to set a budget and see what you get in each ecosystem and what that performance is
As someone who doesn't use Apple's products but use Windows and Android

Exact same thing on my end! From Android elitist to Mac lover to iPhone
Ah.. so since I’ll never ever use a MacBook, I should finally switch from iPhone to Samsung
Oh yeah, it took Apple 10 years to adopt the USB C and the side button that lets you pick one function. Oh yes Apple is caught up.
I left Apple years ago and never looked back.
So you mean switching from Apple gives you a stiff neck? Not being able to look back is just irritating.

As someone with sensory processing disorder having an Android phone with more customizable settings works best for me, I tried having an iPhone once it was kind of a nightmare because of how few settings I could change to work for me
Do you mind sharing a little more about that? What setting are you using that help you out. I always thought apple was better for accessibility.

Really good points! Also first time I've seen someone do that with their Flip while running 😆
Phone design, Dex, Secure Folder, and dual applications are the reasons why i like samsung better. And i agree their laptop game is not good, the other mobile devices are good.
I flipped-flopped between both and I loved the Samsung experience, however, like you imessage always brought me back. DAMN YOU APPLE.
But I absolutely love how Apple products work, android gives me too many choices and that was starting to stress me out LOL
apple devices and operating systems in general are more refined than Samsung's, both the software and hardware.
If You want the best Android experience, just get a Samsung. Samsung have made só many progress those years, including long term support.
Anybody else think android has better notifications, drop down menu, calculator app?
I would LOVE the Samsung S23 Ultra but, like you, I can't give up the Apple ecosystem because my family uses Apple and it works seamlessly. I've tried the workarounds for Android but they become frustrating. Don't forget visual voicemail can be a pain depending on your carrier and whether your phone is locked or not. With the updates to the Apple watch and iOS coming in the next week or so, it's not a good time to switch anyway.

If only one AirPod (or Beats earbud) connects:
1) Put them both back in their case and close the lid for a few seconds.
I’m really gonna switch back to Samsung because I only have one life to live and I want to have features in my phone that make me excited to use it, Apple is so boring they lost me
With such powerful MacBooks and wow being optimised on macs can I ask why you don’t play wow using your MacBook Pros or mac studios? Love the content!
I use Facebook Messenger with my iPhone peeps. The thing is they have to be willing to use it.
I doubt Apple will ever open up imessage and fix that lock in. I used to be an all apple fan, but can't stand the idea of being locked into a group of products because Apple won't play well with others.

Thanks
I'm currently trying to make this very decision. Thanks for sharing your experience s and perspective.
My kids and I have iphones and I just got a Samsung A15 5G so I use both.
I love BEATS ear pods
Enjoyed the thoughtful experiment. Sold me on wanting to help my dad (the only family holdout on the Apple ecosystem) grow into Samsung's tablet, buds, and watch to go with his Galaxy phone, over time. Now back to the Light Side, Gary 😜
this comment section has the most interesting and insightfull comments from real users that are using both platforms, really nice opinions to read!
As a former android user, I’m watching this seriously considering switching. I have the iPhone15pm, AirPods, Apple Watch and iPad Air M1.
I'm gonna subscribe this was more honest and it wasn't a BASH session
Funny thing is Apple added an AirPods section to settings with all the features of the wearables app on Samsung. So now it’s comparable to that.
I used iphones from 2010 to 2022. I switched to Android. I am on Android forever because iphones have too many compromises.
Like what
I dumped the 13 Pro Max for the Fold 3. And never looked back. Getting the Fold 5 next week. Sooooo hyped 🎉🎉🎉🎉
After 12 years of being an apple user, I switched to Android a few weeks ago. I'm enjoying so far.
If u use google messages you can text from any computer do it all the time while at work
Yep, many reviewers miss this point and try to use Phone Link instead...
I LOVE the edge panel.
Hey Gary! I've missed your Apple reviews and accessory reviews.
don't worry: next Wednesday: I BOUGHT THE MAXED OUT IPHONE 15 ULTRA and here is WHY !!! a week later: THE BEST ACCESORRIES for YOUR NEW IPHONE 15 ULTRA , a week later : AIRPODS PRO 3, is it different ? and so on...
POV from literally anywhere else in the world that does not need imessage: 😂😂😂😂
And not everyone has apple devices, they are expensive in most other countries so most people use Google and Google drive
I tend to jump back and forth between Apple and android. I prefer android by a long shot but sometimes I end up missing how Apple products feel. I currently have an S21 and I love it. The only thing I wish I could do is not break the group chats. That’s the only thing I don’t like.
Look into an old Mac mini or MacBook, and run BlueBubbles. As long as the Mac can run Catalina, you are good.
Love that you play wow instant like
I’m now fully on the Apple ecosystem.
