- If you've been considering switching from an iPhone to an Android device there are a couple of things you should know before doing so. I'm constantly jumping between the two and these are the things that I have learned along the way to help make the transition smoother and the pro/cons of making the switching from iPhone to Android

What do you use...iPhone or Android?
both! iphone as my main though.
I have been using Android for over 10 years. My wife recently switched from Android to iOS and is trying to get me to switch........And that ain't happening lol. I have the note 8 and plan on upgrading to either the note 10+ or the Note 20 5G Ultra
Came from android to iPhone. I had a Oneplus 7 pro to go to iPhone 11
Always had the note series since the note 2 but I think I'm going for the IPhone 12 this year. My job just got me an iPhone for my new phone and a friend of mine upgraded and gave me her xs max IPhone and some of the ios only apps like lumafusion make me want to switch completely. Their chips are amazing for gaming and knowing that I could use the phone for the next 5 or more years has me thinking. I hated the fact that every time I got a note, the resell went to crap by the time the next note came out and I had to spend another grand on a phone and accessories. IPhones tend to hold value quite well. I just want something new and for me IPhones are new , I have the iPad pro also that I use for my go pro and drone editing /music. I think I'm skipping samsung this year and going with the 12 pro max and next year I will get the new samsung fold or note and keep the 12 pro max and have both. That 12 pro max will be around for years to come so I will have both to play with !
Both, i like them both
Apple treats you as a User.
Android treats you as an Admin.
is that bad?
@@kildli Depends, if you wanna be spoon fed with a closed off system go for Apple but if you want control of your phone so it's yours go for Android
Stalin controlling as in picking your theme?

I like the way she presents information!
you're so naive...probably not from the usa are u?
Google Assistant gonna tell you an actual answer
Siri be like "I found this on the web"
Ha ha. True!!
Siri once called 911 when I asked it to tell me a story
Thes best assistant on smartphone for me is google
I ask Siri to do stuff for me and she has to use google assistant to do them 😊. She’s such a cheater
Hahahah yup.
I moved to the USA a few years ago, and it's like a cult here, especially in highschool, kids literally get bullied for having an android
never been to the US but i think the same. Every kid has an iphone and any kid who has an android probably gets bullied there.
It really depends. I am teaching in an international school and the kids doesn't care about the brand. I have kids using ipad pro 12.9 , 11 and the base model ipad 8th gen with magic keyboard or the standard keyboard for 8th gen while others are using huawei tablet or samsung and lenovo, the rest are bringing big laptops in the room and no one has ever been bullied cos of the preferential gadget. It never was a thing.

in Europe Whatsapp is like THE standard messaging app
I think its not just europe. Rest of the world (except for china.I think its wechat there)
not everywhere actually, I'm czech and most people here use fb messenger, but from my experience yeah, most of europe uses whatsapp
for reall
Even in india
I love whatsapp but I'm finding it difficult to transfer it from my iPhone to Android
A million years ago, my sister and I got my mom a Samsung Tab A. It's ancient now, and she's been making noises about getting a newer tablet, so I let her try my iPad Pro for a few days hoping to offload it and get myself a new Galaxy tablet with S-pen. She just kept saying "where's the back button?" The thing lasted a day before she gave it back. My 70 year old mom found the iPad too limiting because she loves to customize her tablet. Who knew?
Wow your mom rocks
Apple manipulates the people specially celebrity who are lazy to buy a phone other than iPhone.
you could she just learn how to use it
@@sonospiacente3334 She could. But why would I get her something she doesn't like when the one she prefers is in the same price range? 🤔
@@TraceyJean yeahhh I like customizing my tool too 😄
Apple: "oh you want to leave?? You'll lose everything, You're our property now Bwahahaha"
Google: "you're switching? Ok take your stuff with you"
Literally can wipe your phone and still have everything fine
To be fair, Google is a service first, while Apple is more about the product.
FRRR!!!! XD
Correct!!
Google doesn't care because they already made thousands selling your data
I kinda wish the US was like Europe in the sense that the Android Ecosystem is king. It's annoying to have to deal with people only using imessages. It wouldn't be a problem if Apple wasnt such an isolationist by blocking androids from using their apps.
IOS users in Europe don't deal with the inconveniences Android users in the US deal with.
No doubt brodie, it's fucking irritating over here. Everyone has an iPhone that I know. And I'm literally about to trade in my 12 pro max for a 22 ultra and sell my series 7 that I just got. My gf will no longer have the same chat ability with me as she has right now. Everyone is so invested in iMessage that you become the green bubble. Like okay you can see colors 👍🏽.
@@iiishception it’s really about the loss of quality in photos/ videos

It is mind boggling to discover that it's such a huge difference in how EU is using iPhones and apps on them that can easily communicate with Android, and how iPhone is king in the US and not everybody uses apps that can connect with other OS (not only Android). And it's also very interesting to have this knowledge. This video was very educational to me.

iPhone to Samsung“gone”, but Samsung to iPhone “ we’ll miss you, but keep your stuff”

Because Apple is like a cult lol
@Sayan De this is exactly the problem with apple. I switched over to Android and love it. I won't go back to apple because they make it so painful to switch away. There is no reason we should lose our books, movies, music, etc that we paid for because we want a different phone.
Nice catch lol
I started buying movies and shows through Amazon Prime Video and Kindle for e-books to get around this. Unfortunately, I haven’t found a fix for music.
Can I just say it's good to see a female handling tech talk....
And sadly she got most of the stuff wrong.
Not trying to be sexist or anything but there's barely any "good" female tech channels
@@jellytwins1018 Krystal Lora, Thao Huynh and iJustine are all amazing female tech RUclipsrs....who seem to always get what they're talking about right. You can say you aren't trying to be sexist, but it looks that way.
@@KodakKylie i said "barely" and good channels, meaning that there are some that I think are good. Never seen any videos from Thao Huynh, but I do like Krystal's and iJustine's videos. Although I don't don't like all of iJustine's videos, cause most of the time she doesn't talk much about the product and most of her video is just her getting excited about the product, which isn't bad by any means, its more of a preference because I like to watch these videos for the info and not just to see someone getting excited about a product for 10-15mins.
The reason why I said barely is cause there seems to be more male tech reviewers that are actually good compared to female tech reviewers. Not saying that there aren't any bad male reviewers, for example to me 'UrAverageConsumer' is by far the worst big tech reviews channel (male and female). He does a lot of comparison videos between Apple, Samsung and other companies, but he's an Apple fanboy so he's always biased in videos and leaves out info about products that aren't from Apple.
I mean it could just be me that hasn't watched enough female tech review channels but I usually just watch the ones that pop up on my feed or the first ones I see on my search and mostly always it's male reviewers.
@@jellytwins1018 yeah his content is not for me. I do agree with iJustine, I still watch her though. Anyone who just reviews things and let's the judging be up to the viewers are good to me. The only male tech reviewers I watch are Marques but even then, I don't care about anything but Android...so if you know of any pure android review channels please let me know.
@@KodakKylie I recently started watching random smaller channels and one that I've been watching is 'Sakitech' he reviews only Android and most of his videos are about software/hardware updates and Android tips and tricks. Other than that the channels I've been watching do both Android and Apple.
You know they're an iphone user when they start talking about emojis

That makes no sense. Plus the fact that someone bragged about how they had the gun emoji still when iPhones didn’t. Like ok? An emoji is why your phone is better?

Yep. They always say that android emojis are worse because you don't know how they're gonna look when you send them to an iphone user but fail to realize it's the exact same situation when you send an emoji from iphone to android lol
The way you kept saying "gone" had me stressed to switch. I had to keep reminding myself I have a S10+ 😂😂

Summary: apple has made it incredibly difficult to switch to hold onto customers and force them to pay more than they need to for a good phone.
Apple sells phones that don’t cost 1,000$ look up for the price of the SE
@@josephb.3841 samsung is actually worth $1000. instead of a piece of crap iphone
@@sophiaklinger2528 samsung phones only get 3 years of major software updates, where apple gets about 6-7. so apple generally lasts longer, while samsung lags tremendously with years of use. however, i still do think that android lets the user have more control, so if i got an android, i might get a google pixel, or a budget samsung phone, so that when my software updates expire, i can buy a new phone.
the base s20, note 20, and the upcoming s21’s launch price are all higher than the base iphone 11/12’s launch price lol

I switched to android from apple a few days ago after about 5 years from coming over to apple from android and I cannot agree with you more on setting aside time to set up your android. It took nearly 3 days for me to really compare all of my iPhone apps to make sure I added them to my note 20 ultra device. I do miss iMessage but I simply got bored with the iPhone over the last several years after being an early adopter of android and remembering all of the customizations I use to enjoy which is why I decided to take the leap back into the android ecosystem. Switching from apple to android requires you to shift your brain from left to right because it can be a big ecosystem shock if you are entirely new to the android OS. Here in Europe, iMessage is almost not important at all... so there is like almost no reason to go for Apple products aside the integration between the iPhone and Mac maybe.
My reason was the apple watch. I tried a lot of android watches, but none of them can compete.
Curious, what messenger does most people use in Europe? Where I’m from in the pacific we use WhatsApp.

I'm definitely a android lover i love the freedom of personalizing my phone to exactly how I want it...Note Ultra 20
And iPhone users often think it's just the look you're customizing. You can completely change everything on an Android. The one thing holding some back is they buy from Verizon, AT&T, TMobile, etc and have the contractual obligations. I buy unlocked. I own my device. I can root my phone and so much more. Not tied to the Android stock, Samsung stock, etc software. I can use Google's camera software on a Samsung phone. You can overhaul a Android phone to have nearly the best of everything available. kemartini Truth
omg... I've heard this for years; no way! I do not find anything easy or intuitive about IOS. I can drive an andriod no issue.
iOS in basic things actually takes more steps compared to Android have you ever tried changing the camera settings or video settings on a iPhone ? You have to leave the camera app ,go to settings, then camera, then change the settings, then go back to the camera app for something simple meanwhile on android the camera settings is right in the top , or you want to hide some of the quick settings in control center like flashlight , mobile data ,etc you once again have to leave the control center go to settings ,then customize controls, then edit and remove them ,then go back home but on android in control center you just tap edit and remove what you want and you're done .
Then iOS apps are a mess and you'd have to use the search tab to find something if you forgot what page the app is on meanwhile on android you swipe up from the home screen and all apps are in alphabetical order or you can use the search tab.
You want to mirror share your phone onto your tv but you don't have apple tv so you're out of luck unless the tv is a airplay compatible tv just to run apple screen mirror smh meanwhile on android any tv in the world that has mirror share will work .
I love the fact I can download any mp3 off any website and my android phone recognizes it instantly and adds it to my music library from my downloads folder. iPhones don't hold a candle to androids when it comes to music.
Pure Facts!!!!
Fr I had to download another app to store my songs on my iPad
Lmao Spotify.
It's the number reason why I love Android. You don't have depend on only what Apple offers and obey their rules. It's the same with anti-repair tactics. I mean I bought the phone I don't have to ask permission from daddy Apple to do whatever I want to do with it.
You download songs ?? Really?
I just did the big jump to android from apple. The technology is just too great on my note 20 ultra!
Good phone to switch to! Definitely a great experience to have when moving from iOS to Android
It sure is a gorgeous device
I did the same thing
The Note 20 Ultra or the Fold 2 that is the question. 😎 I would add the Microsoft Duo but it is a first Gen device, however is definitely on my radar for the future.
@@Harlock2day the ultra if your looking for something to use for next 2 years. A fold is dope but it doesn't have the durability that the note is going to have. If youre the kind that replaces your phone every year, get the fold
One thing that bothered me when switching from Android to Apple was the lack of freedom on Apple but over the years they seemed to improve.
The reason why some Apple apps are not cross platform, is because Apple wants to keep the user in the Apple ecosystem.
that’s literally their whole strategy
it makes apple users to, over time, purchase other apple products, like if you use an iphone, you might buy apple music, then you might buy more icloud storage, and then you might buy airpods, or an ipad or macbook, then your basically locked. especially if you also get an apple watch, because you don’t get apple watch support without the iphone
If they had IMessage on Android they would lose half of the American market... That 90% of the reason not to switch! That's the truth!
BeNtOoOoOo nope
Really??????
When she said you would have to convince people but majority of the world uses android so almost everyone not living in America uses whatsapp regardless of whether you use iOS or android.
Other than dedicated Apple users, A lot of us in the U.S. use WhatsApp
Or Line/Kakao talk etc. In asia...
Apple is huge in Asia lol they use KakaoTalk, line and WeChat. WhatsApp is a medium app that most people use around the globe except China where it's banned
true
The alternative of Airdrop for android is "Nearby Share"
Also Shareit. There's countless actually lol.
@@xavierazad no, there aren't.
@@skuyzy198 yes, there are. Mi Share, Shareit, Z Share, Nearby Share, Files Go, or just search P2P File Share and you'll get many.
@@npcimknot958 nearby share is not an app
@@npcimknot958 nearby isn't an app-
The reason for the quality difference is due to the lack of selection with iOS devices. So with android, social media actually takes a screenshot of your camera image instead of actually using the image that the camera is capturing, it has to deal with the code and it being easier to write code for a couple different camera sensors vs writing code for 1000s of camera sensors.
Also getting reacclimated goes for switching both ways.
Samsung is the only Android brand that is directly competing with apple which is why Samsung also has it's own ecosystem that competes with apple but also uses Android/Google.
I personally prefer to have more choices to what hardware I'm using but for people who don't really care about options then I guess I can see why apple is so appealing.

To each there own. I have a Note20 and that things a beast. I know how they work. How to set em up and love the boosted specs in comparison to an apple and the customization. Apple doesn't do it for me, my gf on the other hand is so deep in the ecosystem she could probably never switch.
The dumbed down nature of IOS is what makes it so secure and stable, which for a lot of people is an important selling point. Andorid and iOS appeal to very different customers
People really overhype the complexity of an android. Bear in mind of the money Samsung makes for example is not on their flagships but on their cheaper phones. Android gives you the freedom to tailor your phone how YOU want it. Apple gives you the phone THEY want you to have...simple!
Well said! Thats the difference that truly matters when deciding between Android or iphone ecosystem
AGREED
Screw customization when the device is crap. The device needs to work. And this is something iOS does well
@@29kalel are you for real?
@@daluartanvir Yes, he is. It's quite simple. iOS is made for specific hardware, it's why iPhones are as fast or faster than same model year android phones with higher specs. Android is used on hundreds of different models/brands and when you buy an Android phone, it's already full of bloat.
The apps Apple puts on the phone work better than the apps Android phones have for that reason. It's all designed to work efficiently.
I have been an iPhone user from the 3G to 6S, and then switched to the Galaxy s8 and then the Huawei p10pro. Both great phones, but the S8 I had to back up and reset to factory and start from scratch basically because it got too slow. Similar thing happened with the huawei and it's strictly because Android OS has to be bloated to work on so many devices.
You can clear some of the bloat, but never enough to make it not a factor. Samsung knows this so they throw a ton of Ram in their phones. That helps, but only for so long. In most cases, restarted the phone will clear most of the lag up, but at some point, it will catch up.
But since most people are replacing their phones every year or two, some may never get the huge lags that will happen if they keep it.
None of that is knock on the Android phones. It's just the reason why iOS works better in almost every situation. Sure, might not have PIP or split screens, but those things are mostly gimmick anyway. People are horrible at multitasking and if you're watching a video and reading an email, you are getting nothing from both of them.
Android has far more options and customisation but iPhone users decide that a stable reliable device is better than a split screen.
Always have been an android guy. I tried Apple back in 2017 and just couldn't do it.
iOS is boring.
I'm the opposite. I guess I have a taste for Apple. I couldn't do Android because I like the simplicity, ease of use and seamless integration of iOS. Androids are cool but iOS feels so natural to me.
What I cant understand about iOS is if it's soo simple and smooth and seamless.... What would it take for Apple to integrate some themes..... All iPhone home screens look basically the same... With just a different wallpaper.... Why oh whyy

Thats smart business by Apple
Yea, I'm not one to fall for Apple and their shenanigans. I'm a low key phone enthusiast, I have 4 Samsung Galaxy phones, but thats beside the point. My point is that while people who have iPhone worship iOS and their ecosystem, they also have to deal with phones that don't have expandable external storage, they have to deal with closed source, as well as having to pay for Apple subscriptions, that's how Apple makes their money. While Samsung and Android are more concerned about their customer's wants and needs. Sure Samsung and Android don't charge for everything but they make up for that by having people buy their devices and having people see the open source potential in their ecosystem and OS. I use a Note 20 Ultra and wouldn't switch to Apple for anything.
@D'Jean Buie not really. I have an android device and my life is just fine. I don't need an apple device nor do I wish to have one. I work a full time job plus run a business and I use my Note 20 Ultra for both jobs, my phone works perfectly fine.

@@IGH414 She isn't the first black tech reviewer though. I've seen tech reviewers from around the world. Skin color did not need to be brought up at all.
I like both honestly, I've gone back and forth over the years... just whatever suits my needs at the time and depending on where the products are in their respective life cycle. However when it comes to tablets I can only do iPad lol.
I agree, but when it comes to tablets I'd choose the s7 since it is a bit more universal when it comes to Google apps. Otherwise from that, I think android is congruent to apple. They both have flaws and gains, all depends on what your looking for. For me I prefer android because I'm in school and as I said before. Having that more connection with Google apps is awesome. But yeah I like apple and android
What about Samsung Galaxy Tab S series? That's the equivalent to iPad.
@Jude McHardie understood
I totally agree!! If you have any passionate enthusiasm with tech, I believe you’re doing a disservice to yourself to limit yourself to one over the other. I’ve bounced between the two the last few years, and I love/miss them both for totally different reasons. Both are super capable and powerful in their respective rights. I wish I could afford both to tether between them from week to week to suit my fancy, because they’re both so great.
But I also have to agree, no tablet has ever wow’d me in my life, and when I was looking to buy, iPad just offered so much more for the dollar value (especially when you consider how much more abundant affordable alternatives are for apple accessories), this thing was bought with the intention of taking over my laptop once it dies but after buying a solid keyboard attachment, I find myself grabbing it before my laptop has even met it’s coffin (an almost 9yr old MacBook, best laptop I’ve ever invested in and owned). Both are so good, there should be no hate for either side, it’s all preference.
Nobody asked about tablets tho😂
To the point, one of the best summaries on the subject.
I’m definitely switching from my iPhone XS Max to the new Samsung fold!
I’m tempted also. But that price tag and no ip rating is an issue for me. I’ll have to be too careful with it.
Yeah, I'll wait for a little better price 😉
Same here
Walter why not?
I planning the exactly same, but the switch scares me.
I have been on ios forever but if I’m honest I am super bored of iOS, I waited for iOS 14 to come along but that just frustrated me more, I am pretty certain this year I am going to make the jump to android to see what I’m missing
Do it. If you're bored of iOS, I think you'll love the customizability of Android.
My oooold note 4 is better than my new iphone xr. Want to die. If I didn't pay 400 for that shit used phone I would be super angry.
@Christina Ledezma I'm getting bored of android too. Been on it since the G1. That being said, I have an iPad and my wife has an iPhone XS Max, and IOS is far more boring. I need a new OS. Phones are starting to peak given a physical device. The next concept needs to be touch hologram projection, not a folding tablet.
As an Android user: how can a OS be interesting? I mean I truly believe Android to be marginally better than IOS but never for the reason of it being interesting. If that is a thing you are looking for however I think you will like Android skins, where you can change the appearance of the OS
@Christina Ledezma I mean do what you wanna do. I just never interacted with the OS enough to even really grow aware of it. I use the apps not the OS. There are features why I use Android, but even they are mostly concerned with app usability, like a proper file system.
I just switched over from my iPhone X to my Note20 Ultra, didn't have a single problem, got everything over, including my text messages.
So I don't know what you on about, there was no downgrade on resolution of photos or videos.
Welcome to Android sir
@@keyshawnscott12 glad to be on the good side.
She is talking about the natural compression used in MMS.
@@jellytwins1018 good
Truth be told, when you text videos, the resolution is gutter trash. You have to use some type of cloud link share just like she said or else it looks like you are watching a video on a VCR from a thrift store in the hood.
I went from an iPhone to a regular S22 it felt like paradise no more data problems
10:04 Having multiple apps to choose from is a disadvantage? You can just try them out, compare, and delete the ones you don't like ... atleast you have a choice
@@sdrawkcabmiay 'Murica woooooo 🇺🇲
Yeah that's cool and all but the problem is most times you can't delete them. I have a midrange android phone and I have two apps of almost everything, a google photos and an oppo gallery, a google files and an oppo file manager... etc. And I can't delete any of them
@@cihesham Well firstly those are just stock apps (which you technically can delete, but the phone will get mad at you), any other app you can delete at any time. I'm pretty sure you can also just banish the Google ones to the shadow realm if those aren't the ones you use. Plus, most Android phones nowadays, even the cheaper ones, have enough space to handle those apps being there, and the ones that don't mostly have expandable storage.
@@JustMatchmaking Nope, can't delete any. Best I can do is just force stop
@@cihesham well with a little fiddling you can do anything, but they shouldn't be that much of a hindrance anyway if you have 16 to 32 gigs or higher of storage
There were some miss information on this video :(
Google Messages App, with chat features (RCS) enabled has all the capabilities that iMessage has. You can send videos and multiple pictures full quality, because like iMessage Google Messages uses Internet protocols vs SMS protocols when talking to another person with an Android device with Google Messages. If you send a video from iMessage to another phone that is not iPhone everything including the video gets shot to hell as well. Also all the other features like seeing someone type back, read receipts so you can leave someone in read, video call button (Facetime) from the Messages App is also included.
The in flight messaging with Apple is because you are using the internet protocol from iMessage to iMessage, bet you try to text a green conversation wouldn't work. On Android i can do the same using the messages app texting a dark blue conversation, but i text my light blue conversation friends(iphone users) it wouldn't work either.
Social media camera issue unfortunate there is no solution from the app(Instagram/Snap) because the multitude of API integration with the all different Android cameras is not feasible for App Developers, while for iOS they can code for that specifically. Samsung and Google have added features to their cameras where you can take a picture/video and upload it directly to your IG/Snap Story or post. Unfortunately you won't get features like boomerang as stuff :(
Duplication of apps. You can easily hide apps that you don't want to see or use by going into Settings -> Display -> Home Screen -> Hide Apps. So you can choose what you, your preference (Samsung vs Google the main ones) and keep it.
But #AndroidNation coming from App Developer :)
@Steve Norway how
Did you even watched her video? Google messages app needs to be installed. RCS still depends if your carrier supports. You really are a legit android developer coz you don't what users want. Lol
I've found that for me, an Android phone paired with an Apple iPad is the best combo
Omg yes
Can you give reasons why? If you don't mind?
Hello can u answer the person who said why?
@@ipurpleyou6234 hmmm why?
WHY lmao 😂
I literally switched from Note 20 Ultra (exynos) to 11 Pro Max. Now i missed everything from my previous phone except battery life. And this video really sums up my thoughts, thank you.
