2001 VW GTI GLX MK4 Ignition switch replacement

Driving to work monday night my lights quit working along with wipers and other functions. checked all fuses they were good did some research on MK4 and found ignition switches were common and had same symptoms. it was my cars problem as well

Do we have to remove the wheel to get that facing off ?

It’s been awhile since I’ve had a stick wheel. I don’t think it has to come off but can’t remember how hard/easy it is to get to the front two screws with a stock wheel.

If I recall correctly it was $20-$30 was t that expensive at all
