I am very curious to hear how people have ben doing with the current webcam software, is this for you? Are you using OBS? Should I do a video on OBS and streaming?
Great Video and spot on! Why pay subscription if no new features are on the horizon 🙈🙈 What software are you suing to remote control your camera though? I'm curious :)
I've been using and experimenting with the software for a while. It works pretty well for me but I hate how much it hurts the original quality of my 80D. But I can't get a capture card because the 80D doesn't have clean HDMI 😭.
I'm usimg the free veraion of this eos webcam utility whenever i connect my camera during recording the camera just stops after a minute it just show web cam utility logo and i have to connect the camera again to get my video on obs, really frustrating ehat should I do
The most important thing is that you can use up to five Canon cameras via USB as a webcams and then create multiple scenes and switch them. With the free version of Eos utility you could connect only one cam thru the USB. This is the only important thing for the camera owners which don't have clean HDMI. It's not about only broadcasting wirelessly.
Exactly this. I kept waiting for this to be brought up and he never got to it. Do I "Like/Want" to pay a sub fee for this? No. But I use a 60d M50 and 90D in my streaming setup. A single cam link is more than $50. Even a cheap Chinese HDMI to usb is $25-30. 3 cam links would be $200ish. That's 4 years of this service. 5 cam links would be 5+ years of this software. I've had 1 cam link and 2 knock off ones fail on me so far. They all show ups as USB Video and it's annoying trying to figure out which is which. I can hook my talking head camera up wirelessly across the room and remove a $30ft HDMI cable (it's only 8 ft away but routing the cable nicely requires a much longer cable. You can also adjust all the cameras settings through the interface. Which you could do individually before with EOS Utility but I never could get it working well with multiple cameras. The software also gives me a decent little 3-up preview off all my camera I can keep on another screen. Is this ideal? No. But it feels silly to me to pretend like NO ONE can get any value out of this.
it honestly feels sueable, the fact that they can even charge for a service we have already paid for is fucking crazy. its like they dont want to keep their company running
I agree with your assessment of the new software. On the positive side, the software gives the user a more true 720p at 30fps. The downside is you must subscribe to have 1080p. I have the original Canon EOS M50 which did not output a clean HDMI image. At least with the Webcam Utility I can have autofocus and a clean video source. Furthermore, like the original EOS Webcam Utility it’s free for the basics, but I’m not motivated to get the subscription. 😊
I'VE GOT IT! For the previous few months, I've been wondering what Canon has been up to, but it's now obvious. Canon recently cripple hammered the most recent EOS R Camera Line up like the R6, R6II, R7, and R8, making it very hard to simultaneously live stream via HDMI and record internally with a clean HDMI output at the same time. Instead, you must use an external recorder to achieve this or use manual focus and press the info button a few times to clear the screen but disables autofocus and you'll need a field monitor to even see what you are recording as once the hdmi is plugged it will only display through the feed. Currently, this is only possible with the EOS R, R5, and R5C, and possibly one or two other cameras. With the use of this software, we can now live stream utilizing the USB rather than the HDMI, which enables us to record internally because we are not using the HDMI feed. I record events with multiple cameras, thus this was a significant problem. Canon most likely did that so that we would now have to pay a subscription to accomplish this and most likely a couple other cripple hammer cons.
First Canon bans third-party glass. Now this. I see why more folks are jumping ship. Maybe I’ll see what Sony has going on. Thanks for calling them out.
I hate subscriptions of all kinds, because they mean that have have to pay a lot of money over the years, but if you cancel the subscription, you are left with nothing. It would be different if you could at least the current version of Lightroom for example after you have paid for the subscription for three years for example. That would be a fair deal. The only updates of Lightroom I need is the support for new cameras and lenses. Some car makers even have subscriptions for some features of a car. You already paid a lot of money for a brand new BMW, but if you want to turn on the seat heating, you need a subscription for that. Otherwise your butt will keep freezing. That is really annoying. It gives you the feeling that you do not really own your car.
Hey random question and not sure if you will see this.... but I notice your video is remarkably sharp. I film using a Canon t7i and nifty fifty lens OR using the Sony a6400 with 16mm 1.8 Sigma lens. On the later... even when I film in 4k, export in 4k, and upload to RUclips... it NEVER looks as sharp as yours. (and it's clearly focused on me). Could you possibly give a hint how you achieve such a razor-sharp clarity in your final result? 🤔 Are you using a huge number of Mbps when you render your final file? Are you using a sharpening effect in the editor? Is it simply the difference of a full frame vs crop frame camera?
Please share a link to instructions for having OBS able to "upscale" from 720 to 1080p. I have not been able to find it. Setting the output to 1080P does not accomplish this (for my installation) I have used the basic free EOS Webcam Utility but I cannot find a way to get OBS to "Upscale".
I'm curious my EOS M6 Mark II had no issues being captured through a capture card and then all of a sudden I can't. I sent to Cannon to be checked and there was no issues. I curious if the firmware disabled the the ability to capture through the HDMI side to utilize this EOS program?
What is the better option to connect Canon cameras to OBS. Video capture card? Right now I can not see the EOS Webcam in OBS, I does not present as an option in the drop down for video capture in OBS. Please help.
I was able to get version 1.1 to work on my Mac once and never again. Seeing a version 2 out gave me some hope just to be a complete frustration right after. I still get the black screen... But even if it worked, it's just not worth the price as it is.
My T6i cycles the mirror every 30mins quickly but stays on and keeps streaming. The cycles are barely noticeable on the live feed. I've streamed for over two hours without issues.
What software are you using? I Just saw the new software from Canon and came here. I'm seriously considering (one more time) make the jump to Sony, every time Canon does something like this the burden of my current glass gets less important on a jump to Sony
I like Canon cameras but I really hate their interface with all other devices nothing seems to work you have to pay it’s a pain in the ass to sign in and then it still doesn’t work so canon is just got to get with it or get out of the business of interfacing For live streaming
I love the software! It is not meant to be an OBS or anything that puts your stream out there. More of an alternative to a capture cards like the Elgato's. Takes out a piece of hardware needed. Then you just select the utility software in place of your webcam and then you can run your Canon cameras just by having them on the software. Then you control the other things from the software. It is not replacing any OBS or like software. And the new version just gives you a few more features that you CAN pay for if you choose to. You do not have to to use it the traditional way. Why are we complaining that they are not giving us free software? I personally think the upkeep and the constant improvements would be worth the $5 per month.
Logitech has a software called Logitech Capture that is the same type of thing for there webcams. Adding a little more control to your video/cam before it gets sent to whatever software you are broadcasting with.

This software should be free for Canon users.

I wonder if it included skin smoothing features as well?

Bring it for free, already spent enough money in Canon cameras and Canon lenses! Will sure never pay for that! May be check out Sony .....
Just curious, how do you use multiple more than one Canon camera in OBS using the old EOS Webcam utility?
I'm not fully certain, but I think you have to pay for these goodies. Thanks Canon for the bend over!!!!
is there EOS webcam utility for canon powershot sx730 HS???
If it fixes your AF issue that might worth giving it a shot
The BIG reason this software is great is because You get the option to auto focus. Does one automatically upscale eos utility?
I wanna connect with Zoom call and now I use canon m50 ii. I live in Asia and , can I use it?
I was able to get version 1.1 to work on my Mac once and never again.

how do we upscale it on obs to 1080?! can you let me know please sir! Great content btw I used it in beta and the quality was ass
Will the Canon cameras turn off after 30 minutes without EOS Webcam Pro? Does OBS address that difficulty?-- sorry, not yet familiar with OBS.
My T6i cycles the mirror every 30mins quickly but stays on and keeps streaming. The cycles are barely noticeable on the live feed. I've streamed for over two hours without issues.
Subscription is absolutely ridiculous
yeah not going to pay to use features I ALREADY BOUGHT, bad canon, no bad
Not available outside the USA..... daft
I'm done with Canon.
I just redownloaded the1.2 after updating. so i googled the 1.2 popped up. Heck paying them yearly id rather just buy a good webcam.
What software are you using? I Just saw the new software from Canon and came here. I'm seriously considering (one more time) make the jump to Sony, every time Canon does something like this the burden of my current glass gets less important on a jump to Sony
I want the software to upscale my resolution to 1080 p
Seems scammy and kinda useless.
Can i use my EOS R with the Webcam Utility Software( the free one:))
and OBS as a Webcam?
Let me tell you the EOS WebCam Pro does not work with Apple Silicon studio Apple to whatever

@@a81l1fy is it free?
Dude, you say you have a working solution, then give ZERO information about how you are doing it. That's some serious BS...
Agreed! Removed my "like" lol
This just ensured I never buy another Canon Camera again. Shot themselves in the foot with this one. As if the hardware isn't expensive enough.
