I am having the same problem on my MacBook Pro, but EOS Utility doesn't pop up anywhere, so I do not think that is it. I am using a canon rebel t3. All I can get in OBS is that screen with the usb and red x. any ideas? Is it because I am running Big Surr? How do I get this to work?
Dude, thank you so much for this! This really helped! I'm so happy it worked! I was on this for days trying to figure this out and watching so many tutorials and yours really fixed everything! Thank you!
After SO MUCH troubleshooting (it's been such a pain with BigSur), closing EOS Utility was the last thing in this wacky combination I needed to do! Hooray! Thank you!
same problem HOWEVER the utility isnt open anywhere not in the background no where, i tried reinstalling and uninstalling, ive tried everything it was working then suddenly its not anymore. Im using the canon rebel t7 which i know for a fact works i just dont understand why its not working now, i go into OBS and i dont get an icon at all i just get the "EOS webcam utility" words
Your video is fantastic and audio nearly as well. Just not your explanation. Where do we turn off the eos web utility? (I have it installed on win10 as well as in obs and the t7i is connected with hdmi)
Thanks for the tip! 👍👍 Works great with my Canon 90D. Autofocus, bokeh and all! And it works with all the videoconferencing apps smoothly, I basically stopped using my Camlink.
@@N64Josh Do you have to do this everytime you want to use Eos Utility in OBS? For me everytime I close OBS, I have to open Utility and quit before the camera will work in OBS
I asked for help by multiple OBS youtubers and no answer from anyone, I am new to OBS and well shoot all of this, I am wanting to do recordings on an idea, and I am trying to figure out this journey, however my canon t6 rebel is not being picked up in OBS, oh what am I doing wrong? any advice is helpful!!
I didn't even have EOS utility turned on so how am I supposed to turn it off? The problem still persists.

Same on Big Sur. I wonder whether it's because I connect through a dongle. Have you tried a direct Micro USB to USB C connection?
Maaaan, thanks. best guide iv ever seen.
Thank GOD you are on Mac. Hard to find Mac fixes man. Thank you very much
@N64Josh what happens if you add Virtual Capture Device on OBS and EOS UTILITY DOESN'T SHOW as an option?

@@notgalatlol i have the same problem
I got the solution
Previously i downloaded eos utility 3

i don't have the utility downloaded... yet still no progress. beginning to realize i have wasted money
Any idea why the M50 does not work with OBS/Canon Webcam Utility even if Canon utility is NOT running?
I have no clue. I wish I could help
@@N64Josh Nevermind. Was my fault. I had Ecam Live running at the same time which used the M50. Now it works
What's also important to note here, is that the Micro-USB cable needs to support data transfer, some USB cables are "charge-only" and will not work.
this is what worked for me = i changed the cable and it worked (Same cable different brand) = thanks a lot!
Gamechanger! Thanks a lot!
Restarting PC helped me.
you didn't show us how to fix it!!!
Your way to nice, as a long time Canon user I have no problem saying their webcam utility is garbage, junk, on par with the stuff we get from China.
Noted lol
What a joke of a program that's absolutely necessary. (This didn't work by the way and it isn't a cable issue. I updated EOS and never worked again)
it doesn't work on my Mac, I'm using m50

Thanks for the tips. It was helpful.
I'm using a micro USB to usb A cable and no utility 3 and it still not recognising it? Is this the wrong cable?

If you have the web cam utility it should pick it up. You’ll see it in the add video capture device menu
my camera connects but glitches out randomly, anyone else have this problem?
Me
Still cant make my m50 work with OBS...
hell OBS doesn't even recognize that the EOS web utility is even installed. Let alone actually selecting as a video capture device. xD
But then, how do we keep the camera from shutting off if we have to quit out of the utility app? So confused, please help!
The webcam utility is a separate download.
do I have to use a hdmi cable??
Thank you sir
Thank you man!
eos utility not downloading on my Mac mini m1
ist just black for me
You don’t even SHOW us how to quit EOS Webcam Utility. I can’t find it anywhere to quit! All I have is the Uninstaller.
I never say quit web utility I say quit EOS Utility 3
@@N64Josh but what's this EOS Utility 3 thing we're meant to quit?
I tried it but my camera shuts off after a few min and it stays open with the utility
Muito obrigado pela ajuda, estou a comentar de Portugal.
What the heck is OBS!?
I love you
you don't even show us anything...
ok
this is horrible. eos utility doesn't even show up in the device drop down.
by the way turning it off isn't the solution for my issue.
