Thank you so much for this video! This is the only video I can find where they mentioned that the EOS Utility was different than the EOS Webcam Utility. I had deleted all the drivers and everything while troubleshooting a problem I had and only downloaded the EOS Utility again and was wondering why it wouldn't work. Once I downloaded the EOS Webcam Utility again it works perfect lol Thanks again.🙌🏾
Thank you for this video. That is a lot of help! As to clean HDMI output, on the Mark I, it's a simple solution with only one button. That is the "Info" button on the backside of the camera. Press this, and you have clean output 😉 And also, you can buy a power supply adapter for the camera, with a dummy battery. Then you have unlimited battery, and if you record to e.g. Camtasia, you may record as long as you want to.
how do you disable the camera side menus when you want to record in OBS that shows the cameras battery life, AWB, the fps, the time ? It's on both sides
have a question hopefully you may be able to answer... how do you charge the camera while its being used? is the charged battery enough lifesspan for a long stream?

When i connect my m50 mkII to my PC, on the camera display screen it show charging the camera through my PC, thus not making me able to connect as a webcam to OBS. ( on the camera screen shows a battery and a laptop indicating its charging.) Any solutions???

Good video. Just about the Canon M50I which is the older version. You do have a clean HDMI, you just need to press the INFO button a few times and u will get the Clean HDMI output.
@@HustleSavvy you're right but the autofocus on M50 isn't that great so I always Manuel focus the area I want and use it like that but I still have a problem with it that the video freezes for me. If u have a solution for it, would be great
@@TheMZ11 I'm using the M50 with settings for short film shooting, 30fps, 60 shutter etc and mine seems great in autofocus. It's not so great at 4K tho, it could be the problem but i've never had a freeze

You can get a dummy battery which you can then connect to a power socket. Check out the link in my description under "my recording equipment (desktop)".
I am getting clean HDMI with my Cannon M50 version 1.1.0. I just press the Info button until the screen is clean. Occasionally when moving the camera around a lot, I see the focus box come up, but that doesn't happen often. My issue is that I can only set the display off timer to 30 min. After that the stream stops. I'll try keeping connected to EOS Utility 3 to see if that keeps the display on. Otherwise I have to press the shutter button a few times.
my issue is i'm using this on an ipad and it seems it is copressing the image on the ipad screen or "squeezing" it from the sides. i've tried different aspect ratios already. is there any thing else i could try?

@Hustle Savvy I am currently using a USB cable and EOS ultility... the only way it works is thr live web shot ...would trying the hdmi cable help? I don't want to have to get a capture card if it's not necessary I use the camera for live fitness classes through obs
@@keepmovingwithemily it should work with just EOS webcam utility (it's different from EOS Utility, name is almost the same) and USB cable. It's hard to troubleshoot since I don't know your OBS settings. What I can say is you should add a scene in OBS > add source > video capture device > select EOS Webcam Utility Hope this helps. I'm covering this in my upcoming tutorial.

My m 50 seems to turn off every 30 minutes using the capture card and theres no way to keep it on vs the webcam utility software. Is there any way around this?

I have a friend who is selling his Canon M50 Mark II camera with a 3 axis gimbal, an extra manual lens, four additional batteries, an additional battery charger, a camera carrying case, a continuous charger for filming, a camera protector for shooting outside in the rain. He’s asking $650. Any thoughts?

u dont need capture card or canon utility to use a canon like a web cam, you could activate calls in livestream in the camera settings and camera will be be reconignized in obs settings. At my r10 works floweless. The minus is u cant rechearge battery simultaneously on usb port.
as of 2024 unfortunately if you want quality higher than 720p on EOS Webcam and the REGULAR Utility, you have to pay for a monthly subscription from Canon themselves... give one more point to the capture card... xD
So from my understanding is that even though the EOS webcam utility is a lower resolution, it’s uncompressed so it still looks pretty good. I could be wrong though
I'm using my Canon M50 with the crop sensor and my pancake 22mm F/2.0 lens, and the image quality is fantastic! if it's compressed at all I'd be very surprised
I may not be able to give an accurate solution without looking at your setup, but here are some things I did: 1) Use the right kind of lighting and ensure there is enough of it. 2) When using the software to livestream / record video , tweak the settings to change brightness, saturation, etc. 3) If it's a video recording, you can also take it a step further by doing some colour correction and colour grading in your video editing software
I’ve tried both of these ways and my Canon M50 freezes/black screens. I’ve tried everything. New ports. New cables. Went in camera settings. Window settings. Updated my bios. Updated camera firmware and canon utility app to always have the latest version and still no luck with the camera freezing. I even have the screen flipped out and facing me too.

but the MK1 will still shutdown the HDMI after ~30min -> Resulting in a Black Signal. Kind of useless.

3:30 you can get a clean screen by pressing the info button a few times, hope that helps
that is correct on the older model M50! Info button gets you clean picture after 3 presses.

Look into something called a "dummy battery". You put it into the camera like normal, plug it into a wall and boom. Unlimited power.

eos is a virtual cam, not a software, so it's listed in your video capture software as a recording source.

Great vid. I wish canon had more guidance on getting the webcam utility installed and set up. Took me a while to figure it out and get it to work.

I've never tried Aperture Priority Mode for this before. I suspect it won't work (maybe it will with capture card method🤷♂️)

Hi, my capture card video quality is over-saturated (like most peoples with this cheap card). How did you get yours to not over-saturate?
