Before buying a new motor, try this: remove the caps as he did in this excellent video and tighten the nuts. Pretty tight. Worked for me, saving about $100 at Carquest, who, btw, told me how to fix it.
Thanks for the subscription! The lack of noise can be attributed to me moving to my new garage that has a LOT more space to produce better quality videos :). Glad the video was able to help you solve your problem.
Thank you so much for the video. I paid.$122 for the motor on amazon and did the labor work myself. It was so easy, it took me no longer than 15 mins to install, and now it works perfectly. Thanx Bro!
If you saw the opening splash page or the description it clearly shows the years covered. That being said, I've added the years to the title b/c that was a miss on my part.
What are the red and black wires to the windshield for coming from the passenger wiper motor? We have them and can’t figure it out (or how to put them in place)
even after I replaced both motors and reinstalled the wipers, it goes up once and gets stuck up top. help! Passenger side wiper underneath the driver side motor.
Interesting question but on my Ford Escape repair video. I had PRK laser eye surgery years ago and did not need glasses for years. I wear reading glasses now and a VERY light prescription to sharpen up my vision when my eyes are a bit tired but otherwise my vision is still 20/20.
what do you think, my left wiper doesnt work, sometimes it smashes the top cover of the front window, the right side works perfect - the left no. i made a calibration today but still the same the right side answer all commands during calibration, the second no. if i turn off the ignition the problem left motor is makin a half circle like it should...
there is a very high chance the left motor is done for. The motors operate independently but the brains that control both are in the left motor and is a very common part that fails. I'd say replace the left motor and depending on the car it came off of (or if its new) that you may or may not need calibration. I was super lucky to not have to do a calibration on this car.
Thanks! It is amazing how many viewers hate on my channel el because I am too verbose. The way I see it is if you’re teaching that no detail should be left out that could leave the viewer wondering if they missed a step. The devil is in the details.
I wouldn't expect this method to always work. You're supposed to go through a celebration routine every time you work on the wiper system. If you get away doing it like in the video, that's fine. However, if it doesn't work, you'll need to program the actuators with a dealership level scan tool. I would make sure I had access to one before I took anything apart. I get these in all the time from other shops that aren't equipped to deal with this design. If you guy's are interested, the procedure I'm talking about is listed in the main workshop manual. The only thing missing are the wiring diagrams. If you use a service like All Data or MItchell, you'll get the exact same WM that Ford techs use.
yes you're correct in stating the need for calibration. I have been actually quite fortunate in the few escapes that I have fixed this exact issue on that none need recalibration (presumably b/c the wipers were calibrated from the factory on the other cars - this was a used part from another escape. Your statement of needing calibration I'm sure would 100% apply to a new part since it would not have been programmed a "reference point".
@@piercedasian I replaced the driver side motor with one from a used escape. It didn't work. I had to remove the control board from the original motor to get it to work.
I'm always fixing things! It never fails to amaze me how often my phone rings (sometimes off the hook) for my know how on how to address problems with ether it be home, car, computer or even gardening related!
I know... I'm getting terrible at being responsive to all the comments but life with kids is crazy and my house move recently has really put a HUGE damper on my time.
Man this was an awesome step by step video man. I just finished installing my new wiper motors and now my wipers work like a charm.

That is interesting. Were yours simply not gripping the splines on the motor?
Same thing, here. If the bolt is moving and not the arm, it's not the motor.
I took the arm off, cleaned it and tightened it back down tight.
Voilà!
That did fix our same problem last time it acted this way but unfortunatly this time the wiper motor went out.
Thank you for the video! Very easy to do. I completed in an hour and a half, just watching your video.😊
Glad you were able to get it all fixed up!
You are a great explainer about little things. Thanks
Very detailed! Thank You. Great camera work and no shop noise to distract. Perfect! I just subscribed too.

Very good video explaining the procedure of replacing the wiper motor.
glad you liked it!
Great video! Thanks... you saved me from buying both motors when all I needed to replace was the left side 👍🏻
thank you for the video, my daughters Escape just started showing symptoms of a bad LH wiper motor
Np!

Great video, very informative and helpful!
Glad you think so!
Excellent video! Thank you for helping.
Appreciate you labeling the years/ generation in the title.

Thanks! Vote reversed. appreciate that you responded right away. Cheers.
Great video. Great explain about sync!
Excellent video & verbal explanation

Same job on the Ford Transit connect which is the same chassis.
Great video thanks for your help

Is it always the drivers side motor that fails and is it always the drivers side that has the sensor in

To be accurate, vehicle sides are identified as follows: Left = Drivers, and Right = Passenger. The view is always when seated in the driver's seat.
yes my bad. I was pretty dead tired when I filmed this video and I realized this post production.
Good job

Splines do strip. Fine splines

Both of my 2015 Ford Escape wipers froze today. it's a 9 year old car and it's already broken. Absolutely ridiculous.
Why are you working on a FIX OR REPAIR DAILY ???? 😺😺😺 Must belong to a friend or family member LOL

Gee took it three months to answer lol

For Information.... The driver and passenger side motors are the same. The difference is the bracket.
