    I found a lot of corrosion on the terminals so I looked it up and putting dielectric grease on after you
    tighten up the conversations is supposed to stop that from happening. Also the battery doesn't charge right tell you reset the battery monitor system which is easily done sitting in the drivers seat. You tube video's on that also.

    I think it's much easier if you just remove the air filter box, the side of the battery box is designed to fold down (on mine anyway) and you can slide the battery out after removing the negative, positive and hold down bar.

      @@tarikbosniangod1864 If you look to the right, the negative battery cable isn't long. You can unbolt it where it connects to the body and pull the battery out with the negative still attached. Swap it to the new one before you install it.

    • @jimgargas2480
      @jimgargas2480 2 года назад

      You can mark the wiper position with a tape and a Sharpie. For the most part the wiper shafts are splined so you may have to take the arms off and reposition them as necessary.

    • @AT-wl9yq
      @AT-wl9yq Год назад

      The lines on the windshield are used in the procedure for reprogramming the wiper motors. Your vehicle has 2 wiper motors and are not linked together. You need to use a scan tool to reprogram them.

      It does on our 2019 Escape. I've been in there for a few things over the time we've owned it and when it came time to do the battery, I chose the method to remove the air cleaner housing and remove the front of the battery box like you mentioned...it came right out that way. I didn't have to do anything with the cowl or wipers. But as a note, if you do remove the wiper blades, there are alignment marks on the windshield that show you exactly where to park them when you put them back on...that helps make sure they're 100% spot on.

    Here's a battery terminal cleaning wire brush tool tip: Purchase 2 of them.
    In my experience, the negative post is always smaller than the positive so label your two tools (or put electrical tape on them) so that you always use the same one for each. Otherwise, your one tool will never clean the positive side quite as well as the negative.
    You're welcome.

    My project is trying to disconnect the negative battery cable in order to clear & "reset" the transmission scheme. Will disconnecting the battery neg / ground where it is bolted to the firewall enough to clear out & "reset" the transmission scheme memory settings, or will the cable connected at the negative battery post also need to be disconnected too?

    Any time you remove the wiper arms, you run the risk of the wiper motors losing they're programming. If that happens, you'll need a factory scanner, or something close to it, to recalibrate the motors. The calibration procedure is in the workshop manual. You need that as well.

    The ground cable has a BMS circuit that the corrosion usually takes out, along with the 2-pin sensor wire & connector. Those are worth rep,acing at the same time. Otherwise when corrosion breaks them down the car will not start. You also have to do a BMS reset with an OBDII interface cable & software like FORscan . This tells the system it’s a new battery. Otherwise intermittent things start happening, like wipers not working.

    • @jimgargas2480
      @jimgargas2480 2 года назад

      There’s a way to do it without a scan tool. I wonder if it’s even necessary. I’ve did a manual reset and on a few I did nothing. The power is disconnected while changing the battery so the ECM will need to relearn anyway. Also, it’s only going to give what the battery needs no matter how old it is….

    • @AT-wl9yq
      @AT-wl9yq Год назад

      The wiper motors lost their programming at some point when you were working on it. You have to reprogram them with a scan tool. If you check the workshop manual, it gives you instructions on how to do it.
