Hey Mike thanks for the info got my test light checked out my power supply and fuses everything was fine so i took out the motor and low and behold there was a nut just sitting there upon further inspection said nut came from the motor turny thing after a few tries in different positions I replaced said nut and wipers working fine now and it only cost me five bucks for a test light so thank you very much.
The wiper motor itself may not be bad. There is a small circuit board (on some wiper motors) underneath a plastic cover that may have cold solder joints that need to be resoldered.
My motor went out and my car (2013 Focus) did the freak out with the wipers and just quit on me. My fuse is fine, but now, TIME FOR THE NEW ONE! Thanks for the vid.
I have not done any testing yet. The intermittent setting stopped working. Is there a conductor for it in that connector, in addition to the high and low you tested? Is the intermittent function controlled by some sort of chip in the switch on the steering column? BTW, I have an Impreza, but it looks much the same.
Good informative Video, my 2014 rav4, 's Wiper won't come on unless I manually try to move the arms then it comes on only on high. the rear ones work perfectly. I am stumped
Thank you for excellent videos. My front and rear wipers are not working. Checked all fuses. Changed the switch (2012 ford escape) and nothing. I just bought this car and didn't check the wipers because the blades were really bad. Can both motors (front and back) go at the same time? what I should be checking?
If you don’t have the wiring diagram to refer to, when testing the connector to see which pin has power and ground. Can you damage the test light or the connector?
By any chance, does the voltage to the windshield washers pump pass through this wiper motor assembly? My 2005 Trailblazer has good fuses/relays/ windshield pump BUT doesn't work! It WILL work if I supply 12V directly to the pump. I don't have a wiring diagram.
Hey, I have a 1991 Chevy Cavalier and sometimes the windshield wipers/radio/clock don't work. Does this sound familiar? Sometimes my dad would spray WD40 into the ignition key hole, and it would work. Unfortunately, not anymore. Trying to understand what parts I may need to order to correct this.
My wiper motor works but the wipers come to rest in the middle of the windshied (even thought they rotate edge-to-edge in the correct span while running). What gives?? Is there some sort of stop 'catch' inside the motor that forces the wipers to stop at the bottom of their span while the motor might still be winding down?
Love, love, love your vids and they've helped me tremendously. When I press the windshield washer button, the wipers run about a full 60 seconds or so before they stop. This causes the wipers to drag and smear the window. This problem started a few years after I bought the car (new). Is there a way to reset the run time back to the original factory standard of approximately 15 seconds? I have an '07 CTS.
+Angel Babee Could be a problem in the windshield washer module. Try disconnecting the negative terminal of the battery for 10 mins and see if that resets everything.
When I flip my wiper switch no sound no movement I changed fuse for it yesterday and they worked until I had to use them this morning.. help much as possible please thank you
My son has a 2006 honda civic. The low and intermittent speeds do not work. Fast speed works. I replaced the switch and relay but it still does not work. What else could it be?
Hello Mike...help me please. My BMW E46 318i m43 model the windshield wiper not functioning properly. The intermittent switch ok.but when I turn to normal switch (no.1) it moving intermittent.when I switch to fast moving (no.2) it running slow or normal function same like switch (1). Hence, what's the main problems and how to solve.is that relay problem, wiper switch problem or etc... #how many wiper relay in this model.tq.
Hi, I have a 2009 Jetta TDI (MK5) one day my wipers stopped working and since then I've been stuck trying to figure out what is going on. I replaced the wiper motor and assembly, I checked fuse F19 30A, I check for ground at the connector (3 wires [red, purple & white & brown]) (I did not back probe the wire), and only two other things I can think of is the relay (# ..?) and the switch at the steering wheel. Any ideas...
Good video he might want to differentiate between ignition switch and wiper switch. Sometimes he just says switch. Just a friendly suggestion. ignition s

You need a brighter test light. You didn't test all the switch positions for their resistance which varies in the different positions of the switch. You also didn't check the Motor for ground. No ground no work...If you Don t know if all the switch positions are good then you can't condemn the switch or the motor.

Not true! The Wiper interval relay can also be bad. The wiper interval relay is under the dash and it’s a whole lot cheaper used in Ebay. Many people waste money replacing the motor or the steering wiper part- all expensive fixes or luckily it may just be a fuse. There’s a way to test the motor directly bypassing the wiring that’s showing to be good. Check the motor directly with a 12v home alarm battery as the car battery cranking amps may be to strong. In order: 1) check fuse 2) check motor 3) check the motor wiring as directed in this video 4)if either is the problem replace motor or fix wiring 5) if wiring is the problem it can be the wiper interval relay or the switch in the steering column. Hope is the relay- - you can look for RUclips videos that will show you how to diagnose a relay. If your car is 15 years or older the relay is what I would check first. Old relays and switches will ultimately stay on the on or close position. Is the nature of a switch.

I'll give you 50.00 if you can tell me how to fix my 2004 Tahoe Z71 Wiper issue, with success.. for about a year now only the high speed worked, and if I used them on high, I would have to turn off at the right time to get them to the bottom of the windshield. Today I replaced the wipe motor with a new, AC Delco part ( twice ). That didn't fix the issue, then I replaced the Combination column switch with a new AC Delco part, still only works on high, but now if I turn the delay switch one notch down, the wipers will stop working and park as it should when turned off. I have checked for a bad wire about 4 times in the column and under the hood, under the fuse box, behind the cluster, everywhere. all seems good. the washer relay has (all time power ) at pins 30 and 85. I've swapped the relay three times and nothing. if I use a test light and probe the orange wire at the motor connector, the washer motor will turn on. so pump I guess is working. But why does this activate the pump? bad ground somewhere? I've cleaned and checked the chassis ground at the front left frame bumper mount, all good. If I use a test light and probe the orange wire at the combination switch connector, it will also activate the washer pump. if probe other wires at the connector I can activate headlights on, horn, flashers. I'm guessing I'm bypassing the switches and grounding. I'm stumped..
