Uncle Phil’s character was so needed for Will. That heartbreaking episode when Will’s biological dad left him & Uncle Phil was left to console Will helps this particular scene to be so beautifully done. Will had a real father through Uncle Phil. He needed to know that Uncle Phil was truly proud of him❤️❤️❤️
Phil needed Will too. Carlton emulated Phil and will be successful but Will learned every lesson Phil taught. Success is nothing if you have nobody to pass the knowledge to. I loved their relationship.
Not sure if it was the same episode, but when Phil went off on Will’s real dad for leaving again. Thats the passion and love of someone who is truly there for you. Yes, I know these are characters on a show. However, this happens in the real world every day.
Tv dad's had values, and taught life lessons, not baffonery....gave something to life stories, motivation....etc....good ole TV with shows that took on real situations...and family values...🙏🏿
You know I’m that very episode you’re talking about.? Will tells uncle Phil “You’re not my father!” And the look on Phil’s face made me want to cry because you could tell that comment broke his heart 😢 No he wasn’t will’s father but he took him and and loved him like he was one of his own
He was the finest actor on the show there's no doubt about that. I'll always remember how he delivered his lines so clearly and emphatically. Rest in power James Avery.
Someone once said that they want a “sequel” of fresh prince. Where Will buys the house and raises his own family and a nephew/niece comes to live with him just like he did. A single season where the remaining cast comes in for cameos and episodes and the it ends with them visiting Phil’s grave and a touchy moment
@@BHRamsay Bel-Air was their attempt to reboot they tried to nostalgia and woke commentary to get high praise. To me it felt way too preachy and like every modern person of color drama. I saw the repeat. And never saw the episode again. That was my last summer of innocence. It was the memorable Summer of '96. RIP Uncle Phil. RIP Tupac 🕊️🌺

Uncle Phil and Carl Winslow Two powerful men. Two fantastic father figures to a generation of young men. RIP Mr. Avery. Your presence is missed, but your light still shines brightly on us.
I love the episode of Family Matters where Little Richie tells his friend that his Uncle Carl looks like the dad from Fresh Prince and James Avery shows up at Carl's door.
Rip Uncle Phil, the world lost a real one.
